Mermaid and the Rainbow: Mermaid Science by Lois Wickstrom is an interesting, education, bright, and entertaining children’s story that teaches and inspires children to learn about science. We follow the cute characters on a bit of a science adventure, where the reader is shown science experiments and how to perform them…. So these are things that are easy to do and recreate at home. The characters are cute and quirky, and along with the colourful illustrations, they make the story come to life. The use of fantasy teamed with science, engages both imagination and learning. I think the story is a clever way to teach children about science and make it fun at the same time. Happy reading!

Juliet’s Journey to Love is the first book in the Great Smoky Mountain Getaways series by Elsie Davis. I would classify this as Christian woman’s fiction/Christian romance- with spiritual beliefs, Christian values, drama, challenges, trusting in God’s plan, emotion, love, loss, discovering where you belong, and finding love unexpectedly. Juliet takes the opportunity to lead a faith group on a hike through the Appalachian mountain trail, in the hopes of getting closer to God and finding direction in her life. But when she falls ill days into the journey her companions need to call for a rescue. It’s when her unexpected rescuer turns up that things get interesting, and Juliet finds that maybe God had a plan for her all along. This is a faith filled sweet story that should have ticked a lot of boxes for me- but unfortunately Juliet frustrated and annoyed me- and I found it difficult to connect with her- which in turn, made connecting to the story quite difficult too. Also, it felt rushed in places which also didn’t allow me to ‘settle’ into the story or to ‘lose’ myself in the story like I had hoped to. I think if we could have ‘heard’ from Jake more, it would have given the story more balance and depth.

Reunion in the Outback is the fourth and final book in the Welcome To Bunya Junction series by Nicole Flockton. This was a bit of a bittersweet read for me, as on one hand I was excited to finally get Yolanda and Michael’s story- but also sad that this is the final instalment in the series as I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the characters or Bunya Junction. But Nicole Flockton certainly didn’t disappoint with this final book- providing a wonderful story to finish the series on. Reunion in the Outback is a second chances contemporary romance, set in a small town in the Australian Outback. The story is beautifully woven (as expected), with family, angst, emotion, drama, communication issues, marriage woes, separation, secrets, and how the power of love can overcome anything. If you haven’t read these wonderful books yet, the series follows the Carruthers siblings, who each get their own book- Sindy (Book One), Jonas (Book Two), Scott (Book Three), and Yolanda (Book Four). This is Yolanda and Michael’s story, and what a story they had to tell. It is a little different from the others in the series, being that Yolanda and Michael have a well of history between them, and being married but now separated. Yolanda has returned to her hometown in the outback to regroup after her marriage woes. Is this really the end? What happens when Michael decides that he doesn’t want to lose the love of his life? What is he willing to do to prove his love and commitment to Yolanda? And most importantly, will Yolanda give him a chance to try to rekindle their love- or is it all a case of ‘too little-too late? The story is definitely worth the read to find out. I wonder what Ms. Flockton has in store for us next? Happy Reading!

This is an cute, well-written, feel-good novel. Layla is an adorable comic book nerd, cosplay enthusiast, and burgeoning artist. Meeting her favourite author hero puts her on the back foot at first, feeling like she’s an unworthy fan girl around a writing legend. As she slowly gets to know Vic Williams, she learns a lot about the sexy older man, and starts to dream of what it might be like to date him. These two have a smoldering romance, with sweet romantic gestures and sexy scenes. This is by turns a comforting read with lovely details, and then smoking hot scenes of passion. A really well done story, I enjoyed it completely.
A very cute young kids book. It talks about science and the cool things you can do with it. It doesn’t read like the baby books and such that I remember being read (Eric Carlyle, etc.) so I think this would be good for those 4+. Great introduction to science and “experiments.” Enjoyed the additional fantastical aspect of the mermaid being able to come ashore and speak with the two human kids. Loved the diversity and representation depicted as well.

So on St . Patrick’s day this was my read for the day and you can just imagine my joy when the opening line read “ Working a Friday night in a pub was bad enough, it also being St Patrick’s Day only made things worse . “ so to get into the spirit of things I cracked a Guinness and settled in with my read ❣️📕☘️
So Clover had a long and testing night , she locks up and wants to head home but then she has a run in with officers on duty and I almost feel like I need a shot of Irish whiskey ! Oh my goodness this poor girl I wasn’t sure if I wanted to loose my temper or laugh 🤦♀️😂😡🤷♀️
Shamrock …. Our introduction was rather colourful and him and his mates had me chuckling at the get go 😂😉🍺 I almost want to say he’s a man child 😉 and while his mates seem to be settling he’s still wild and and free , but a little leprechaun whispered in my ear things are about to change …
Shamrock and clover … the plants are different yet similar and so are the people , yes I was one of those that googled ☘️😂🦋but it helped me better understand my characters , I know , strange but true 🥰😂 and thankfully her gran was on board and reassured me … ( you’ll understand when you read this little gem )
At a stage I wondered if my girl was going to get a break , it was one thing after the other and my heart is shattered when she has the hardest blow of all 😭

This was a cute read! I think children would really like it and it opens up a way to experiment with some, easy science projects. My only complaint is the character names. I was very confused because there was no explanation on which character was who. So that threw me off just a little bit. My daughter loved the bright pages, but she’s 18 months so she didn’t really understand or care for the story much, which is normal for her age! I can’t wait to read this to her when she gets a little older and hopefully do some water experiments with her as well!

This was a great read, but also very infuriating to me, and I’ll tell you why in a minute! This story was well thought it, and had a ton of depth to it and was very well written. It was immersive, and I was so happy to be back in Bunya Junction. For a final novel to a series this one knocked it out of the park. HOWEVER, and the reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of the 5 I so desperately want to give it, is because the main characters were so stubborn and in their own heads, the whole book could have been resolved in the matter of a few chapters if they would have just communicated! I wanted to bang my head against the wall at just how stubborn they were both being. That’s the only reason I can’t give this one 5 stars is because of my angst with the characters. I loved them but also hated them. I absolutely loved this series and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read them! I highly recommend this book and series.

This is such an emotional, beautiful love story that just runs you through all of the emotions. Yolanda and Michael truly belong together. They are each other’s first loves and are happily married when tragedy strikes and starts to weaken their marriage. Michael throws him self into his job to try to fight back the fear he’s holding in and Yolanda reacts negatively when he says he doesn’t ever want another child. She runs back home to Bunya Junction for what was supposed to be just a short visit but soon becomes a much longer separation than originally planned. Michael decides to fight for his family but they both have demons they are going to have to face if they want to save their marriage. Most important of all they are going to have to be open and vulnerable with each other. This book was amazing and if you haven’t read the others in this series I highly recommend that you do. Each book is just as amazing as the next. I can’t wait to read more from this author in the future.

Loves Full Circle was a sweet, contemporary, clean second chance romance. Kayden and Liam were high school sweethearts. Kayden wanted to save herself for marriage and wore a purity bracelet. Liam did not want the same and was a jerk about it. He gave her an ultimatum and she walked away. 15 years later he runs into her again and he wants another chance. Kayden has always been the one that got away and he always regretted how he treated her. She is pretty set in her ways and doesn’t really trust him, for good reason. Will she give him a chance? You will have to read to find out. I hope we will get an update on them. This was a great read!

When I picked this book up I didn’t know that it was in a series, called the ghost girl series, and was in fact book number two. The writing in class clown was super smooth and flowing. I didn’t for once feel like I was lost or missing something so I don’t feel it was detrimental to have read them out of order. Maybe the confidence she seems to struggle with as a young adult would have been explained more in book one ?! To me she seemed fearless and brave throughout, never afraid to stand up to any obstacles. Class clown is a young adult horror type novel where a clown has attached himself to her from a circus she attended, she did say she was a spook magnet, right, and he begins haunting her high school along with a host of other clowns. It was engaging and really had me burning the midnight oil to finish. I’m definitely interested in picking up book number one, or really anything from this author. If these types of books are your thing I recommend giving this one a try.

When the grizzly man Jake arrives on his 4-wheeler, it’s obvious very quickly to the group that he’s only concerned with nursing Juliet back to health and nothing else.
Jake is the all-around bachelor grizzly bear. He’s a loner in a cabin in the woods. However, he knows what needs to be done to take care of Juliet. However, he’s severely annoyed by these travel companions and their prayer meetings.
Time comes for the group to get back on to their hike once Juliet heals up, but then Jake falls ill. Good thing Juliet is a nurse and knows what to do. Besides, she owes him for treating her while she was ill! She parts from the group and nurses Jake back to health. Then she learns of a job opening at a local clinic. Can she leave her secure job and family to live out her dreams?
This book is the first I’ve read by this author but I’m already looking into other books by this author and in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it!! It included adventure and romance, plus has a medical slant, which I love!

I normally love to read kids books with my 6-year-old, but she wasn’t home when I came across this book. I can’t wait for her to get home and take a bath so I can show her a few magic tricks. She doesn’t always want to learn about science, but she loves magic. I am also going to read this book to her as I know it will encourage and stimulate her creative mind. Thank you to this author for making this book entertaining and educational. Not to mention she has so many more books I am looking forward to exploring.

DM brings us this fourth book in this paranormal Grimm Wolves MC series. The chemistry is off the charts and the banter makes me laugh. I am really enjoying this series and getting to know the characters. The characters likeable and engaging. I love that these men are willing to go to any lengths to protect their women, their families, their friends, and their brothers. They ride free, live hard and love with their whole being and protect fiercely. We catch up with our favourite couples from the first three books and you feel like you are catching up with old friends and are a part of their unit. Make sure to read the books in order as the characters cross over from one book to the next.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I like reading mysteries from time to time and thought this would be an interesting read as it takes place in Chicago in the 1880’s. Although I haven’t read the prior books in the series, I was able to figure out how all the characters connected. I’m sure the book would be even better if I had read the first two books in the series. In this book, Emma finds out that sh is inheriting a large sum from a prior client. With help from her team of friends, Emma steers her way through danger, intrigue, and so much more. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and found aspects that I could relate to. I think I will be reading the first two books in this series soon.
I am in love with this mafia romance series. Amy just keeps surprising me and when I think she can’t do any better she does. She always ups the ante with each book. You need to read the books in order, or you are missing out on sooooooooo much. This book has it all making it a great romantic suspense story, with plenty of action and danger, violence and intrigue, murder and drama, secrets and lies, and let’s not forget the amazing sizzle factor and off the chart’s chemistry. I almost feel like I have run a marathon after reading this as. There are surprises around every corner, tension runs high, and the suspense is palpable. This is Luc and Summer’s story, and they are great characters. They are complex and fully developed and oh so loveable. I am not going to share anything because Amy’s gems need to be discovered all on their own.
Colourful illustrations with a story that is more a teaching of experiments and about friendships. I am unsure of the way this author writes. It felt like it quickly jumped from one experiment to another without any real lead in to each one or an explanation as to why things worked the way they did. The story is set for elementary age readers 4 – 7 who I am sure will love to try the things the characters do in the book and not worry about any lead ins.

This book was a pleasant surprise from start to finish. Not usually a fan of science fiction I was instantly hooked into a story line that kept my attention from start to finish. While I would say this is geared towards young adult, it was an enjoyable read for anyone! Highly recommend if your looking for the right story to bring you in to science fiction.

I’m not sure what caused me to pick this book because not only is the cover art creepy, I knew the story included clowns, and not just happy clowns but scary clowns. I’m definitely a person who can clearly say scary, creepy clowns are not my forte but the reviews associated with this book are incredible and I cannot pass up an incredible story.
Abbey is the main character, a teenager, student who has enrolled in a new school, but before the first day arrives, her father, a journalist, asks the family to join him by visiting the visiting circus as he gathers intel for his next big story on the history of clowns. As a typical teenager, Abbey wanted to pass on joining any family function if it included visiting the circus of all places, but she ultimately chose to go along. While there, she watches the entertainment, then roams around behind the scenes. When she comes across a crowd of clowns chatting about someone, out walks Rellik, the creepiest, scariest clown she had ever seen. When he looked into her eyes, as he walked by, fear riddled her body and she could feel goosebumps on her arms. Little did she know, her future would hold a lot more clowns and danger.
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get through this book and believe me there were times, I thought the creepy factor was going to get to me, but the book is so good and so well written. I loved the way Abbey constantly thought of specific 80’s songs throughout the story which made the book have a bit of a soundtrack, which was unexpected. She often felt older than your typical teenager, seeing as how she handled her special “gift” and the drama that came with it.
The author did a great job making the villain someone you could feel disdain for and hope he would have a strike of bad luck.
I loved how Abbey started to learn about teamwork and the love that you can enjoy by joining a team, a sisterhood of her fellow soccer players. They go through a lot while dealing with clowns invading the school and the disappearance of a few friends but in the end, I think the entire situation brings them all closer together.
I enjoyed this story, even with the creepy clowns and look forward to reading more from the author. This was very well written, easy to read and follow along and kept me intrigued and on edge from the very beginning.

What a great story and a perfect read to share with my great nieces and nephew. The pictures were colorful and the story was wonderful. Who doesn’t love a mermaid? Trezzie the mermaid has treasures to share with her friends Maia and Fig. You learn with these treasures they are used in different and amazing ways like little “experiments”. This story is overall wonderful!

This was a most entertaining and original book. Vanessa has left an abusive relationship and ends up on Saedo. The soldiers rescued her and her sisters. Arkon, the soldier who rescued her, has been hurt in the past also. They both have to work through issues which are many and unique as this is an alien planet. I absolutely loved the detail. The description of the flowers and plants for mating; Grandma ‘s soup; Vanessa’s cooking and the relationships with her sisters and their spouses just kept you engaged through the whole story. It was fascinating with the detail. I found myself picturing the story. The characters felt like they could be from Earth. They could be neighbors. The plot ran pretty smooth. It was a great story that I would recommend.

This was a great 5 star read. My heart went out to Bullet, he was in foster care and is having nightmares from things in his past. He is waiting for his MC brothers to send him packing after his mistakes. But they surprise him and show him what a real family is.
He meets Clementine at a doctor’s appointment that was interesting in itself. Clementine joins the group for lunch and things go from there, she was perfect for Bullet. She is feisty and knows how to give it back to him.
Overall I really enjoyed this read. All of the characters added a great element to this novella. I look forward to reading more from this series. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. 1- click and get started today.

While this book is part of a series, this is the first I have read from it. This didn’t impact the storyline, I still had no problem relating to the characters and following along. There were times, especially at the beginning where both characters infuriated me. Their stubbornness and lack of communication was beyond frustrating. When I take a step back, however, that’s the same thing I enjoyed about the storyline. Both characters were REALISTIC. I overall enjoyed the author’s writing and the book in general. I will be reading more from this author in the future.

I highly recommend reading this series in order, as it will give you a better understanding of what is going on and you get to know the characters. I’m a huge fan of this author but this one is definitely my favorite yet. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I was very eager to discover what was going to happen next. This is about Yolanda and Michael and their daughter. . There is heartbreaking moments and plenty of secrets. What will happens when they come out? Can these two repair their marriage and relationship? I highly recommend reading this to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. As I read the synopsis of the story I thought although it was not my normal cup of tea but what the heck I will give it a shot and I am happy I did. Abbey’s story is unique and I found it interesting. The story had adventure and surprises, I could not put it down until I finished. If you enjoy ghost stories with a twist then I highly recommend this series to you. I look forward to reading more from him.
This was a cute and cheerful children’s book. I think it is geared very well to children with things that will keep them interested with beautiful photos, and pictures that really make the wonder in their mind work! I loved the science and use of science through out this book, I found for me as an adult, it had a high engagement for me, and for sure, it would for kids too! Wonderfully written! Wonderful read!

I loved the premise of this story, and it definitely caught my attention. My only REAL complaint (if you want to call it that) is the story is just too short for me. At 120 pages, you are only getting what I would call the bare minimum. The characters were good, the writing style was definitely there, and the story/plot has great potential. I am very familiar with La Llorona so maybe I am heavily biased about what I expected going in. The main character, Mercy, is easily relatable for most people, and easy to like as the protagonist. She is well written and has character depth and advancement. I also enjoyed how the author added in some more serious topics that today’s society faces, adding again to the relatable aspect. There are also so many quotable one liners in this book, and specific parts that stood out to me. I did actually enjoy this book quite a bit, but reading it cover to cover in 1 sitting left me wanting more. Reviewed by @zoltrixes

The Notebook Mysteries series is an intelligently-written set of novels set in the 1880s, with a smart feminist protagonist. Emma runs her own business, employs workers, solves crimes, and supports those in need of help. When she is given the opportunity to help even more people, with the help of a large inheritance, she expands her network to handle the responsibilities of that role. But there is more than enough excitement beyond that – mysteries to solve, trouble to set right, and even working out how to be with the man she loves without the bonds and limitations of marriage and children. It is great to see a series about such a smart capable woman living her best life, especially in the late 19th Century. A good YA mystery novel with elements of many genres, I think this story has wide appeal for lots of readers.
Class Clown by Allan Evans is the second installment in this set (The first is Abnormally Abbey). I have not read the first book, but had no issue getting into this one and did not feel like I was missing information, so it can be read as a standalone. After reading this one, I will be going back and reading Abnormally Abbey (and others by this author) as it was exceptionally interesting to me, and different than your “typical” ghost story. Abbey is your average 14yr old high school girl….or is she? She can see and communicate with spirits, but this is not always as fun as it may sound. This time, she has piqued the interest of a clown at the traveling circus that has come to town…and he seems pretty intent on following and harassing her. But that is only where it starts, now her new-found soccer teammates are starting to come up missing…Is it all connected? If THAT doesn’t catch your attention, there are TONS of 80s music references in here to keep all of us “old people” in a nostalgic head spin. I can’t give away TOO much, but this was definitely worth the read. Reviewed by @zoltrixes
