My rating: 3 of 5 stars

We immediately pick up where book one left off. We follow all of our different locations and leaders but this one seemed to follow Thomas’s hatred for Matt and his family more.

Matt, Julia and Dan are training to get the traveling through time and space absolutely correct. While Thomas wants a much more sinister end.

The twist that happens at about halfway through this book changes everything for everyone. Although they may not like each other they must work together.

Definitely worth buying, this book ends up making you think about what’s life really about. It’s a little weird but the characters are so wonderfully built up and eclectic that you feel like your in futuristic community. Rachel, the tavern owner; Charlie, and his cats; Val, and all the others. The community sounds like a run down town after everything is destroyed by companies pulling out. The description of the town by the Raven is fantastic. Kind of a bird’s eve view. It truly is a good book that you have to read. Too good to describe in words, you have to experience it. Highly recommend!!!!

What a fun paranormal romp – and I love that it took place in Hawaii! Shouldn’t more books take place in such a wonderful place? Caught By Him by Tammy Mannersly

This is another great read by Mannersly. She knows how to keep her readers coming back. This is a short read, but so worth the time.

Willa is staying at her grandfather’s house to house sit. When she forgets the key to the gate she meets the neighbor. What she doesn’t realize is that he’s famous. The quote I chose for Willa is: “What’s wrong with you, Hayden? I’m fed up with you, with this. You’ve been pulling this crap for nearly two years now, claiming ownership, trying to control my life. Well, guess what? If you want to remain in my life, in any kind of capacity, then you have to cut this shit out.”

Brody is disturbed when he sees a hooded figure going towards his neighbor’s house. The only thing he didn’t know was that the hooded figure was his neighbor’s granddaughter. He falls fast and hard for her. The quote I chose for Brody is: “Look I’m not sure what Hayden told you, but Willa’s nothing like that. She’s told me about her commitment issues in the past, but it has less to do with her personality and more to do with not being true to herself and not being involved with the right person.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

The second hot and steamy book. Had Alex and Sarah and I was hooked from the frist chapter it was bit out down until the end of the story. Which is a more romantic journey.

Potager Plot (A Backyard Farming Series, #5)Potager Plot by Vikki Walton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 5th book in A Backyard Farming Mystery Series and the first book I have read. Even though I was able to still read and enjoy the book as a standalone I feel if I had read the others it would have given me a better understanding of the characters in this story.

Anne is now taking on the job of helping people plot and design their gardens. She meets with a gardening club to share her ideas.
The club president Billie is very poorly with cancer and when she dies no one thinks anything is wrong. However Anne isn’t so sure that Billie’s death was natural. With secrets, lies and deceit in the small town could Billie’s death actually be a murder and if so who could have done it?

This is a really light hearted cosy mystery which is enjoyable to read but has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing and hooked till the end. The main question is will Anne be able to untangle all these webs and finally discover the truth?

This book was shockingly realistic. I could see everything happening in my head, and I truly enjoyed reading it. I quickly became intrigued in the story itself and the characters. There was amazing chemistry between them, and the relationships felt organic. It’s hard to get the right amount of tough without being completely unlikable, but Kel did a wonderful job of making Amy a very likable—and relatable—character. Best of all, this book was so hot yet sweet! This is definitely going on my “read again” list.

Forever Valentine: A Sequel to Professor Valentine (Kirk University Series, Book 6) by Diana Vale – Review by Angela Hayes

Forever Valentine (Kirk University, #6)Forever Valentine by Diana Vale
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Stars

Forever Valentine is the sixth book in the Kirk University series by Diana Vale. It is student-teacher contemporary romance and is the sequel to Cassie and Diego’s story we read in Book #1. This is a short story, a novella size morsel- which made it a very quick and easy read.
This story picks up 12 months after the events in book one. Cassie is determined to finish her psychology degree and enjoy her university experience as much as she can- all the while traversing all the ups and downs of having a relationship with an older man who also happens to be her former university professor. Things haven’t been easy- but she doesn’t regret one minute that she and Diego have spent together. But life seems to want to test the strength of their bond- brining a few complications, drama, angsty moments, and hurdles for them to manage.
Again, as with the first book, this was an easy read- I still didn’t connect with Cassie and Diego the way I would have liked to- but I did like them more than I did in the first book, so that’s something!

Thank you, Diana Vale.

Romancing the Tropics (A Tropical Cocktail Romance Boxset) by L.M. Mountford – Review by Beverly Finnie

Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance)Romancing the Tropics : A Holiday Romance Boxset by L.M. Mountford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Two hot stories in one box set! Romancing the Tropics by L.M. Mount Ford has all the lust, sex, love appeal that has you wanting more!
For instance the first story, Tequila Sunset about unyielding lust after something you know you can’t have. Cassandra has lusted after her best friend Stacey’s father David for as long as she can remember. David looks out the window noticing Cass in a barely there white bikini, has him abandoning his writer’s block to take a trip to the pool. Both knowing they shouldn’t succumb to their lust for one another can’t hold back. It’s so hot that it has you wanting more, wanting more scenes of what they are doing. Wanting a continuation of their story.
The second story, Beneath the Sheets is reuniting with your first and only love. Sarah abandoned Alex after their night together after prom. Fives years and an email later, Alex finds himself in Australia reuniting with the one who got away. Not as hot and dirty as Tequila Sunset, the passionate love they make has one lust after a love like that!

Scarlet Princess is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison. This is my first read from either of these authors, but the cover and blurb sparked my curiosity, and as I am a sucker for a great fantasy, I quickly snatched up a copy, putting aside everything else I was reading, and dove in to follow along on the adventure.
WOW!!! This story was unexpected- in a great way! Even though it took me a chapter or two to really find a feel for the story, I quickly found myself completely engrossed in what was happening and became entirely invested in the character/s and the whole outcome of the story. I thought I knew where this story was headed- but the authors cleverly twisted things up a bit and had me clamouring to discover how things would play out- I spent a lot of the time on the edge of my seat waiting and wanting to know what happens next. And that ending!!!! OMG- I need the next book STAT!!!!
The most exciting thing here is not only have I found a new series I absolutely Flove, I have also discovered two wonderful authors who have a plethora of new (to me) books for me to explore!!!! #winning!!! Click-click-clickety-click, I can feel a book binge coming on!!!!
This is primarily a fantasy, with historical detailing, a dystopian-esque setting, wonderful world-building, drama, danger, romance, and plenty more!!! It felt to me like a more grown up, dystopian-esque version of Disney’s “Brave”. It would make a great movie or television series, too!
You will notice that I haven’t gone into any detail over the storyline, that’s because I really think that you should go into it without knowing too much, and just let the story and the authors surprise you. Trust me, if love fantasy adventure, with romance, danger, and intrigue- then you will not want to miss the opportunity to grab a copy of this book to add to your collection!
Fantastic!!
Excitedly awaiting Book #2, Tarnished Crown- It can’t come quick enough for my liking!

Thank you, Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison!

This was my first book by this author and I LOVED it. A super quick story that didn’t feel rushed or choppy. I read the last word and felt completely satisfied, except loving these characters so much I could have read on for many more pages.

The writing was awesome, had a smooth flow and I did feel transported into the story. I found myself travelling with Lys to Vegas and my heart was pounding and my anxiety was off the charts as I was right there with her.

I completely enjoyed this book, it had it all and this author did an amazing job never making it feel forced or crammed in because of the amount of pages. I love the small town and would love to revisit with more books. Will definitely be reading more from this author!

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team Series Book 2) by Kel O’Connor – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Unsettled Scores (DAG Team #2)Unsettled Scores by Kel O’Connor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book really gave me everything! It gave me not just a gripping story line that basically kept me on the edge of my seat, but as well as that, it gave me a strong female lead, whom I admired very much for everything she stood for, and during book even though she was very strong willed, in the end she’s just like the rest of us, she’s only human and that comes with the whole package of contents with being human.

Amy in this novel was a strong character as I said. She had gone through some rough times in her life. She not only lost her own sister, and driven mad with revenge basically, she was separated from her family. It was a lot of heavy weighing on her heart, there was a hold that burned thru her heart, that seemed it would never be fixed, till the person who killed her dear sister was held accountable. Would she ever get the chance to get the justice she wanted and needed so badly in her life?

Thing in truth was that yes she does get that chance, Taking it may perhaps bring on more than she thought at first glance? What if a chance for true love was given to her, provided she stopped trying so hard to get the revenge she thought she so desperately needed to do. Could love fix her heart? The book brought on a lot of emotions for Amy and I literally felt them all, her pain, her happiness, her desire for revenge, the lust for love and passion she really wanted secretly, and basically to feel normal again. the book bought a lot of hard moments, but a thrill ride of action and emotions, honestly I could not put this one down, as when it seemed to be done with suspense, it started up again!

The author gave us all a really fun thrill ride, that was very fun and fast paced. I felt felt that character connection to Amy and how well the author had written her. It was a fun ride to read through this book, and I can not wait to read more by this author. Saying its really good, is an understatement, as its more than that! Pick it up yourself, and see what I am talking about! Surely, you will not be disappointed!

ALL THE FREAKING STARS!!!! OMG!!! Amy McKinley has outdone herself, AGAIN!!!!

No Way Out is the incredible first instalment in the Mafia Elite series by the supremely talented Amy McKinley. I know I keep saying this with every new release of hers, but this is definitely a new favourite for me.
It is a fantastic mafia romance/romantic suspense, with plenty of action, violence, danger, drama, mafia politics, intrigue, tension, chemistry, sizzle, secrets, revenge, and emotion.
I fell for Max and Liliana right from the beginning- they were such great characters- quite complex, fully developed individuals with depth and their own unique quirks and flaws.
I really don’t want to give too much away and spoil the story for you… But will leave you with this little tidbit. Max has an agenda that has taken a lot of time and planning to finetune before he can now, finally, let it all unfold. He has been tasked with protecting his mentor’s granddaughter, on top of his own plans to exact a little revenge and right past wrongs. He never expected that he would be so drawn to the young woman he was sent to protect. Having more in common with her than he first thought. But she is no defenceless flower, as he soon discovers- she’s one kick-butt mafia princess. But with secrets, agendas, politics, and sinister intentions- it’s not long before they are neck deep in a dangerous situation. It definitely made for an intense, suspenseful, edge of my seat read!!! Another gem to add to Ms. McKinley’s crown!
She had me at Mafia romance- the rest was all a wonderful bonus!!!! You definitely won’t want to miss this exciting story…
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Amy McKinley!

Unsettled Scores is the second book in the DAG Team series by Kel O’Connor. This is my first book by Ms. O’Connor, and I reallly wish I had realised that this was the second book in the series before I dove in. Even though this could be read as a standalone, I feel I would have benefitted by reading Book One before embarking on this story. There appears to be a crossover of timelines and events between this book and the first- so I will definitely be going back to read ‘Broken Bits’ before reading any further instalments in the series.
This is an exciting romantic suspense with plenty of action, adventure, drama, danger, and steam. The death of Amy’s sister 3 years previously has impacted her life on so many levels and driven a wedge between her and the rest of her family. Her thoughts are full of anger and revenge- which leaves little room for anything else. She focuses on her work as a way of dealing with her pain- but she isn’t really living. Her latest assignment brings things to a head…
Hugh Bainbridge IV is determined to uncover how drugs are being smuggled into his mother’s charity, which brings Amy into his world. She more than intrigues him and soon they are both thrust into a highly volatile situation. Sparks fly, chemistry sizzles, secrets are revealed, while danger abounds.
Can’t wait for more of DAG Team!!!

Caine is the second book in The Men of Syn Series by Anise Storm. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book ever since devouring ‘Hawke’ (Book One). So, to say I had high expectations would be a bit of an understatement.
Caine is on the run and is offered sanctuary at his friend Hawke’s BDSM club, SYN. (We met Hawke back in book one and got to see some of the inner workings of Syn back there). Being wanted for murder means he needs to keep his head down and keep a low profile until he can clear his name. But things take an unexpected turn when he encounters Emery.
Emery’s life was turned upside down in an instant. He ‘perfect’ world destroyed when her father is implicated in a scandal. Her life as a rich, spoiled society princess crumbles and she falls from her throne- all the trappings of her former life are gone, and she’s completely broke. Emery is determined to find a way to clear her father’s name and regain everything they lost. Then she meets Caine who brings his own complications to the mix. Get set for one heck of a hot and steamy ride here. Add in more than a few secrets that threated to destroy everything as well as bringing danger and intensity into the already combustible mix. This has taken my ‘Men of SYN’ addiction and amped it up to a whole new level!

Scarlet Princess is the first book in The Lochlann Feuds series by Robin D. Mahle & Elle Madison. It is a quick read with lots of adventure. The world building, the plot and the characters are done well in this a sweet and fun romance. This is my first read of this duo and I found myself genuinely enjoying it and lost in the journey.
Rowan our strong willed and fiery red headed heroine is strong, feisty, sassy, and fun. She is entertaining to say the least and she is so well written you can’t help but lover her. I love the banter between the characters and often found myself laughing out loud.
Just kind of ended because there is one of those that many hate, yes there is a cliff hanger.

My Soul to Give (A Demon's Love #1)My Soul to Give by Magali A. Fréchette
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

My Soul to Give is the first book in A Demon’s Love series by M. A. Fréchette. It is a very original paranormal romance with plenty of sizzle, demons, danger, secrets, drama, revenge, suspense, twists, violence, and mystery. The story has a dark tone that makes for very raw, gritty, and intriguing reading.
The story starts off with a bang- Celina has been shot and her husband murdered, and as she lies dying she is consumed with thoughts of revenge. In the few moments that she has left of life, she gets an opportunity to make ‘a deal with the devil’- in return for her soul she will get her chance for revenge. But we all know that making a deal with the devil is never quite that simple- there is always a higher price to pay. Well, this story takes the whole ‘deal with the devil’ trope and gives it a bit of and adrenaline and steroid infusion- as well as a dose of the gruesome.
The only issue I had with this book was that I felt that while the story was very detailed and descriptive, some elements and threads seemed to end abruptly, or trailed off leaving me with questions. There were parts that felt unglued and just didn’t gel for me- like I was missing something- which pulled me out of the story and disrupted the flow.
If you love the paranormal and dark romance, then you will probably want to get your hands on a copy of this book, pronto…
Bring on Book #2- “My Life to Take”.

Thank you, M.A. Fréchette!

Romancing the Tropics: A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance) is a two book box set by L.M Mountford. The two novellas that make up this boxset are:
‘Tequila Sunset’– an older man/younger woman story set in Gibraltar. It is hot and steamy, with a ‘taboo’ element in the form of the ‘best friend’s father’. As expected from L.M, it is full of sexy details that will keep you avidly reading from start to finish.

‘Beneath the Sheets’– a friends to lovers story set in Sydney Australia, where the characters share a past history and reunite after a long period of time. Get set for plenty of chemistry and sizzle…

This is a very quick, easy and fast paced read. There are a LOT of steamy scenes which make for ‘HOT’ reading.

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Way Out: An Arranged Marriage Mafia Romance is the first book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley.

Oh my goodness, I loved this book. This is not my first book by Amy McKinley, so I already had high expectations when I started reading, and this book did not disappoint.
Liliana is nothing more than a pawn in her father’s wicked games. He sees her as a bargaining chip, and she is trapped in this dangerous and suffocating world until he sets her free. I love the strength and fierceness of Liliana, she is feisty and smart in the face of uncertainty and betrayal.
Max is assigned to be Liliana’s bodyguard, but this is no accident as he has a dark history and past that he is determined to save Liliana from. I love the style of writing in this book, it feels as though the author has really found her words with this genre, I couldn’t stop reading.
I can’t wait for book two!
