A clever mystery set in 1930s high society. Plucky Frances joins her beau Jack, plus a few other characters, to assemble the clues to this whodunnit crime. The writing has a comforting cadence to it and it was a pleasure to read. I felt transported into early Hollywood cinema; the writing is perfect for an adaption. The characters are rich, full, and delightful. This mystery will have you guessing as the clues turn up, and the people reveal themselves and their intentions. Death under Palm Trees drew me into Radtke’s lush world straightaway, and had me staying up way too late to discover the end to this delightful tale!

Sea Mage is the tenth book in The Nightshade Guild by Louisa Bacio. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Bacio, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in. But the beautiful cover grabbed me and the blurb intrigued me enough that I snapped up a copy and dove right in. I didn’t realise that this is the tenth book in a series- and there were times while reading where I wondered if perhaps I was ‘missing’ something that happened or was explained in previous books- and that has prompted me to want to go back and explore the rest of the series to see how each story contributes to the overall picture/series. The Nightshade Guild series is a collaboration by twelve authors who each contribute/d a story. With twelve books in the series, one book releasing each month (of 2021)- and with 12 Mages tasked with protecting an elvan princess from assassination, it all looks set to be quite a suspenseful adventure. This is a short story- which made for a quick read. It is a paranormal story with fantasy, mermaids, shifters, elves, magic, a quest, high stakes, suspense, danger, drama, and romance. Although the story is quite detailed and descriptive, I found it somewhat wordy in places, and some of the descriptions were a little ambiguous, leaving me a little confused- which then resulted in pulling me out of the story while I tried to figure out what the author was trying to say/do. This frustrated me a lot and left me with lots of questions. I also had trouble connecting with the characters and their story- which was disappointing as this is the type of book I normally devour and love. So, I will going back to reread this story again in a few weeks, just to see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ reading experience with this book.

Book 5, the most recent installment in this series, follows yet another Broderick sibling named Edward. Like his siblings, he is a witch who meets his soul mate. Like the other books, it’s an easy-to-read fantasy romance that is absolutely worth the read! With each book in this series, I continue to enjoy each and every story! I look forward to reading more of the Brodericks’ stories, both so I can get a whole new story with new characters, but also so I can see more of the characters who I have come to love. Highly recommend this entire series!

A true love story of a couple who fight all odds to be together. Tori is brave to try and help Will through one of the worst parts of his life. She could have taken him on as a patient but decided to just befriend him instead. Although I waited for the story to take a turn for the worse, what happens is unexpected. Never fully knowing what is happening on Will’s side of the story, he steals your heart just the same. Love is always something worth fighting for.

As much as I loved Max in book 3, I actually loved Edward more in AJ Renee’s Cured Luck. Edward since finding out his true lineage has become a recluse in his own right. Making up excuses not to go to family events and such. Magical powers aside, I understand Edward and why he feels alone. I think that’s why he’s my favorite Broderick sibling to date. Edward meets his mate Mia which I’m glad about. He needed someone who could keep him grounded. I love their dynamic throughout. AJ Renee does not disappoint once again. Definitely becoming a favorite author of mine after reading this series. I look forward to looking into more books the author has written to add to my collection.

This book is the third in this series. This time, we follow Maxwell of the Broderick family, which continues the theme of following one sibling per book. This story might be my favorite so far (which makes sense because I also love animals) and as always, is a continuation of the series that could also be read stand-alone if you really wanted to. I love that this book finally had a werewolf as a love interest instead of only witches. Like the other books, I highly recommend this one for fantasy lovers!

I would highly recommend this series for anyone who wants an easy read.

Here we go again! Another brother found his mate! In AJ Renee’s Cursed Touch! I will admit I liked Carter’s story, but I preferred book 3 with Max’s story. Not taking away from the author’s world, as characters progress through a series I start to have more affinity for one over the other. Vanessa, a jewelry maker, feels like she’s losing her mind. She keeps seeing all kinds of things she can’t explain. Including the first time she saw Carter, and the pull she had to him. After learning about Carter’s family history and that there are other supernatural beings in the world she starts to understand everything she’s seen. While dealing with the fact she’s Carter’s soulmate, she also finds out her life is in danger. As we navigate each character’s story, I love how AJ Renee has developed each one. Even though that’s caused me to like some characters better than others, there isn’t a main character so far I haven’t liked. On to book 5!

The more I read, the more I fall in love with the Broderick siblings. We’ve come to Max’s story, Cursed Whispers by AJ Renee. I like this book the best so far! Continuing into the world the author created, that I love, I will always want more. Max, whose gift is talking to animals, comes across a severely injured werewolf in the woods behind his family home. Claudia, severely injured, finally had a chance for her and her daughter to run. Held captive for the last 8 years she’s been beaten, battered and unfortunately raped. Little do they know that they are each other’s destiny, their soulmates. How they navigate that as a witch and werewolf is unheard of. This is their story. I can’t wait to find out who book 4 is about!

AJ Renee is at it again with book 2 in the Broderick Coven Series! Cursed Sight is the next story about Ethan and Serena, and I want more. I can’t wait to read book 3 to find out who’s story is next to be told in the Broderick Coven. Having previously killed Volark, there’s someone new tormenting their lives. I seem to love any paranormal romance I’ve picked up so far. Witches, werewolves, demons Oh My! Ethan, accepting his role as the Bishop Coven Oracle, starts to have visions, all which show Serena dying. Knowing how Ethan feels for her, he needs to figure out how to alter the future. Serena, realizing Ethan is her soul mate, does everything to keep him at arm’s length, not realizing she’s going to need him. AJ Renee did a great job writing these two characters as their stories developed. Again I can’t wait to read book 3 and other books by this author.

This book is the second in the series. While it does continue the storyline of the first book, it focuses on different characters who have a story of their own. While the first book focuses on the only woman of the Broderick siblings, this story follows one of her bothers. I like how the author tied it very well into the first story while still giving us something interesting and new. Like the first book, this one is also a romance, and is actually independent enough that you don’t necessarily have to read the first book. While you wouldn’t really be confused if you skipped it, you would definitely be missing some detail. Although I would be shocked if you didn’t want to go back and read it after reading this one, they’re all really good! Overall I would highly recommend this series if you like easy, fun fantasy romance novels.

Carson is a warrior. So I made the mistake of reading this book before the first. It explains a lot but once in awhile I had got confused. Carson can’t turn any missions down due to being into debt because of her father. In all it was a good book can’t wait to read first book and the third.

Wow just wow! This book was amazing and is a real page turner! I drank a cup of coffee at 9 at night just to keep reading to see what happened next. This story is so intense and the writing is on point. Shelby is amazing and has such amazing resilience. Honestly I love all the Cooper’s. I don’t want to give any spoilers but I will say this story will keep you guessing and when you think you have it figured out, think again. I’ve read one other book by this author and will be reading all the others she has written! I cannot speak highly enough about this author or book!

Whisper Creek is the seventh book in the Logan McKenna Mystery series by Valerie Davisson. This, like the other books in this series, grabbed my attention from the very first page. This book can be read as a stand also, but I recommend you read this series in order. These books keep getting better and better. Logan is on the hunt again to catch a killer. This story is full of action and suspense, and it will keep you guessing right to the end. I really enjoy this series and can’t wait to read the next book.

Trying to be normal when you are not has it’s own consequences. This is the crux of this interesting fantasy, Kingdom of Embers. Alena is a unique 17 year old girl, a hybrid, half vampire, half witch. Her mother is a Vampire and the identity of her father is unknown. She keeps moving from place to place because of her mother’s job. Now at senior year, with an absentee father and typical teen problems, roller coaster emotions, Alena has a lot on her plate. This is Alena’s journey in her school, her friendships and how she tries to gel in with the rest of her friends and eventually figures out details about her father.
It is a well crafted story. I have read Tricia Copeland before and have thoroughly enjoyed her novels. This one is no exception, and she has tried to meddle and blend two different fantasy tribes which makes the book even interesting. Cannot wait for the sequels.

Fool Me Twice was a really good read! It was a great story and I enjoyed going on this thrilling ride. However, I feel like the story was drug out. I felt like it could have met the same ending with less fluff in the middle. I found it dragging for me throughout the novel. And the characters. I loved seeing the different dynamics of each person, but I really wish the author could have had all of them in the third person narratives instead of all of them third person except for Shelby, and have her first person. I didn’t enjoy that and it made the story a little confusing when it switched between the characters. Overall this was a great read that I enjoyed but I felt I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t so prolonged.

This book really kept me on the edge of my seat. I was turning the pages as quickly as I could to find out what was going to happen next. There were twists and turns, action, danger, suspense, some steamy moments, and a diverse cast of interesting characters. Carson is one tough woman, I enjoyed seeing the changes in her as the story goes. When she is sent to bring a Russian dignitaries daughter to her father, Carson finds out that everything is not quite what it seems to be at first glance. This is a must read to find out what happens. I found this book to be intriguing and exciting. I highly recommend this book.

This book was something else in a good way. Setting up someone for murder. Luckily she proves herself innocent with the help of her husband and his private investigator. There should be a trigger warning for mental health because I believe its realistic that you don’t know what a person is capable of in their mindset. Especially if they have mental issues.
I absolutely loved this book! I am more of a Romance person so I took a chance on this book and it did not disappoint. I just couldn’t put it down, I had to keep reading it. The mystery, danger, drama, crime, and of course the suspense was just insane. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Renee. Cursed Luck is a great book and so far the best of the series. The Broderick Coven Series is an amazing series.
Edward is the one of seven and the last to find his mate. Not sure if it’s in his luck but his mate has been found. He meets her at Ethan’s wedding and isn’t allowed to bail. lately we’ve been hearing from vampires and witches more and more. This book is not just one of the many, it is incredibly detailed and the creation of the characters has surprised me since I started reading, since although the main character is only a teenager; she is complex and the situations she goes through are situations that require maturity. The truth is a pretty incredible book and I think the potential of the author has caught my attention from the first chapters so I want to continue this journey with the rest of the saga.
What an amazing start to a paranormal fantasy story! It is full of all of the wonders of magic, vampires, and witches not to forget danger, adventure, and suspense. One thing I love about Tricia Copeland’s story is the attention to detail in all her books. This book is about Alena. She is a vampire-witch hybrid whose vampire mother has sworn into secrecy. There are rules but will she ignore the rules when a handsome childhood imaginary friend comes into her life. Now, will the handsome imaginary friend be surprised by his beautiful pretend friend? The two young imaginary friends figure out how they are together at that moment in time. I highly recommend this book to see what happens to the two imaginary friends. I cannot wait to see what is coming next in the series.

Death under Palm Trees (A Jack and Frances mystery Book 4) by Carmen Radtke. I have loved every book in this series and I believe this is my very favorite. The writing in this series makes you feel as if you are actually with the characters in the places they are. This one takes place in the South of France as Frances and Jack are trying to get some much needed r&r. Its the 1930’s and they are invited to a New Year’s eve party but before they even arrive they are asked to help find some official government papers that have gone missing. The government doesn’t want the fact that these papers are missing to get out so Jack and Frances must work quickly. In the midst of the investigation there is a murder that happens and the two investigators must work even faster to make sure they aren’t the next victims. This is such a fun series with lots of action, tons of mystery and even a few murders. Reminds me a lot of the great Agatha Christie mysteries! Do yourself a favor and read this fun series!

I had a hard time putting this down. My heart broke the whole time watching their story unfold. It really emphasizes that hope and love are truly necessary when facing unfathomable obstacles. Their connection was palpable and it made me so sad the pain they endured. Will is a very lovable character and it saddens me that he is suffering so much at such a young age. This book reminds me of Lurlene McDaniels books I used to read as a kid. I cannot wait to read the second book and others by this author.

This is the first book I’ve read in the Jack and Frances Mystery Series. This story started off a bit slow. Once I was a few chapters in it grabbed my attention. I enjoyed Jack and Frances’ relationship. I was eager to try and solve the case as I read the story but had difficulty doing so. I appreciated the list in the beginning of the book that listed the characters. I didn’t expect the person who committed the crime so that was a plus. I did enjoy the setting. Engaging, fast-paced, and full of twists and turns. Fool Me Twice by Gledé Browne Kabongo didn’t let me down. Honestly, it took several chapters to really get going, but once the stage was set in the first 10% of the book, things really picked up and I couldn’t put it down!

Browne Kabongo creates an addicting story, as usual. I love the intricate details that bring the story together and keeps surprising the reader. Not my first by this author and certainly won’t be my last!

Who doesn’t like a cozy mystery to curl up to? I am not new to the genre but I am new to the author. This book and its time frame piqued my interest. Setting in the 1930’s it is full of danger, theft, and murder. Ms. Radtke did a wonderful job writing in this time period. I felt that I was right there with the characters in my mind’s eye. Jack, Frances, Uncle Sal, and Aunt Mildred take us to the party where unbeknown to them there are some missing documents. They need to find the answer to where the missing documents went before it goes public. I highly recommend this book. It is a fast read, but make sure you leave enough time because you are not going to want to put it down.
