Kristin Gleeson delivers with this book! Awakening the Gods is a unique blend of romance, music, history, and myths. The abundance of music interspersed with magic woven into this story is so different yet refreshing. Kristin Gleeson’s descriptive writing and character development had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put the book down. The characters, although otherworldly, were also somehow down to earth and relatable; I could see myself in Saoirse, in her setbacks, in her love of music, in her unrelenting desire to persevere. I would highly recommend Awakening the Gods.

Jae Dawson once again brings the small town romance and the magic of the holidays to life in Snowflakes and Holly. I was excited to read this sweet read even though it is the middle of July and hot as sin out. I needed an escape from the sweat and miserable heat that plagues the midwest I live in and some equally sappy love that could mirror mine as I plan a small wedding for myself. This book could not have been more perfect for that. I meant to split it up over a few evenings as an escape before bed and I just couldn’t. It was so good that I devoured it before bed one evening and just adored it so much. I loved the way it flowed so well that I felt as if I jumped right into Hartwood and was right there with Holly and Blake. I cannot wait to see what we will get next form the talented Ms. Dawson!
A Cold Day in Hell is the 5th book in Naomi Valkyrie’s Life is Hell series. Like all her books, this one is action packed and has wonderful characters. This book focuses on Hadassah and Jezebel. Hadassah is an angel, and Malakhi’s sister and Jezebel is a shifter. Both have recently joined the makeshift family in Juniper Lake. Hadassah is portrayed as a total B in the beginning, but then her hard shell is penetrated and she ricks her lift and powers to save Jezebel. We learn about Jezebel’s dark past and how it is intertwined in the trafficking circle they have been trying to take down for the last couple of books. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but you should read this book, and the whole series. It probably could be read as a stand alone, but they are all overlapping characters, so you should eventually read them all.

The Third nanny was a great psychological thriller! There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing the entire book. The characters were really interesting and well written. As a nanny myself, I enjoyed the parts of Janey as a nanny. I liked the little details in the book that made it seem realistic. Janey was a very unique main character and made the story fun to read.

This is my second audio in this series and I loved it just as much as the first. This is an author I never hesitate to pick up, she is that awesome. I enjoyed how the narrator brings the story to life using different tones of voice. They keep me wanting to listen to more of it. They make it fun to listen to and also entertaining. This is a story about opposite attraction and how things once were may not be the same again. Cadence’s story continues and we get to find out if she is willing to sacrifice her values for a man she has loved. She is such a great character and brings so much to the story. I highly recommend this audio

This is an intriguing old time, western romance and mystery. You are instantly drawn back to a time with horses and carriages, and gentlemen that treat a lady respectfully. There are secrets and prejudices that come to light in the small town of Bittersweep. All the while, Elizabeth, the school teacher is falling in love with the chairman of the school board- against her better judgement. When there is a murder and she is blamed who will come to her rescue?
You can’t help but love the characters and their need to find answers and to protect the innocent. This the second time I have read this author and I wasn’t disappointed!
The Dream Catchers by J.U. Me on is the first book in the Prestoria Series. This is a great YA story that is action packed. As a new author to me I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. It sounded exciting and the author really delivered on that. There was a lot going on in the book but it never felt overdone or too much. The author got the balance right when it came to keeping your interest but also holding back where needed. This story is appealing to more than just the YA audience. It draws on myth and folklore which I think made to more realistic. This really is a great book and I am looking forward to book 2.

A Cold Day in Hell is the fifth book in Naomi Valkyrie’s paranormal Life Is Hell series. The series will appeal to fans of angels and demons, urban fantasy and found family. It’s worth reading it in order, to get to meet characters as they are introduced and watch them grow through the series. A Cold Day in Hell follows Hadassah, an angel who has been sent to Earth for a probationary period without her powers after getting into trouble. Her brother Mal encouraged her to stay with him and the Juniper Lake family, to keep her safe. Hadassah is reluctant to make any friends and tries to keep to herself, but Mal is worried about her and pushes her to try and open up and connect with some of his eclectic family. When she eventually does, she ends up overdoing it somewhat and is soon on an impromptu road trip with Jezebel, running from an all too familiar scent. I really like the opportunity to catch up with characters from the earlier books and see how they’re getting on. For me, it was particularly good to see Jaru thriving! This book gets five stars from me! I would recommend the series to fans of paranormal stories, found family tropes and LGBT+ representation.

Pet Me by Angelique Jurd is the first book in the Toye Shoppe series. This isn’t the type of book that I would usually go for but I was interested enough by the blurb that I thought I would give it a go. I thought the characters were really good. They seemed to compliment each other well and I thought they worked together. The story itself felt like it could do with a bit more development. I came away from this book feeling like it was the first in the series and that it was just used to set the scene for what is to come. The overall basis was good I just think the execution could have used a little work. That being said I would definitely be willing to give this series a chance and read the next one.

Chatroom with a View by Glenn Maynard is a dark book that really delves into some topics that might not be suitable for most people. The moment I read the blurb for this book I knew I had to read it. I have heard about this “killer gene” before and the idea of it intrigues me. So to find a book like this I just had to see what was going to happen. Troy and Veronica were such intense characters. Everything about them seemed to have me on the edge of my seat. I got a feel quite early on for how I thought this book was going to go turn out but even still I felt like at any moment the author could throw a curveball in. I think this is a book that definitely doesn’t need to be taken lightly but I would say is worth the read. If this is the level of work the author produces then I can’t wait to read more.

Madeline and Mike Delaney run a husband-and-wife private detective business, as well as Madeline’s party-planning business. Early the morning after an anniversary bash for a real estate power couple, Madeline is called by the husband to state that the wife is missing and the husband wants his wife found. Could Madeline and Mike help? Just as M&M start investigating the wife’s, Tara’s, disappearance, the son of an old friend also disappears, and M&M’s PI business mentor asks them to help find the missing young man. So the plot line switches back and forth between the two disappearances. Plots thicken, and M&M methodically work their cases. I loved the art-heist dimension (stolen by the Nazis?) added to the missing young man’s case, and nothing was as it first appeared in either case. This was a fun book ,b/c I did not ever know what was happening in either (all three, really) of the disappearances until the author started telegraphing possibilities. My only quibble is really my own fault: this is book #6 in a series, but the first I’d read. I think knowing more of the back story on Mike and Madeline would have helped. Otherwise, a very enjoyable mystery.

Check Out by Debra Parmley is the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series. This is a great book that really has a little bit of everything in it. My first impression though was the instant connection the main characters seem to have. Right from their first meeting you could feel it. And every interaction from then the chemistry sizzled between them. This is the first book that I have read by this author and from the description I expected just another typical marine returned home story but what the author gave us was much more than that. The story was really well developed and thought out. It had a depth to it that you don’t always find in these type of romance books which for me made it stand out. I thought this was a really strong start to a new series and a brilliant way to be introduced to a new author.

This is a very interesting book. It’s very fasted paced. I like how each invidial women is portrayed. I like how each of these women become strong I hope their is more enegament in the next book to deepen the characters. Dark, but not horror. Chatroom With A View took me a few chapters to get pulled in and then I couldn’t put it down. The story is very well written and does its job of pulling you into the psychosis of each character. Troy is an abuse survivor and just doing his best at trying to not be like his father, but when he comes home to a traumatic event, things start to unfold and you are taken on a ride wondering how it all will end.

This is the 5th book in the Life Is Hell series and yet again it is an amazing read. On this story we follow Haddie and Jezebel. I love how these books are all unique with the main characters but they have a main theme running through them all which is the quest to stop the trafficking.
Haddie is an angel sent to Earth on probation for helping her brother Mal. She is very bitter and hates being on Earth. She plans to do her time and the go back home.
Jezebel is a shifter. We don’t know too much about her story in the other books but this one reveals all. Jezebel’s story is a heartbreaking on and when she feels her past is catching up to her she runs. Little did she realise she would be taking Haddie with her. At the start their relationship is volatile with neither liking the other but over time as Jezebel’s story is revealed their connection grows.
When Jezebel goes missing Haddie will do what ever it takes to bring her back home. Even if it means giving up her chance of ever returning to her heavenly home.

Alterations is a mysterious sci-fi read that draws you in from the first chapter and holds you captive until the last. What really drew me into this book was the theory of it all. Science is constantly advancing, changing, and things like cellphones, microchips, and robots are ever-changing – the impossible has become possible. So, when the idea of ‘altering’ something on cellular levels is posed in the way that it has been in this book, I was hooked. The events of the book are told in such a way you’re constantly finding something new out – either about the advancements of a doctor’s technology or that of the lives of people he’s directly or indirectly affecting. You can see the intentions of the tech is good, but there’s that little voice in the back of your mind whispering, ‘something’s not quite right here…’.

Moments ago I finished this book, and I am still weighed by the heaviness of it. The Murders of Lillian Ross wasn’t a book I expected to fall in love with, but I found pieces of myself between the pages and paragraphs, between the smiles and the tears, this book was very close to my heart.

This story follows the life of Lillian Ross, a child groomed for the light that follows the wealthy. A portrait-perfect family that can do no wrong, has done much wrong indeed. As Lillian introduces us to the Skeletons in her closet, Allison revisits some of her own. Will Lillian’s story save Allison? Or will it only mirror Allison’s own future?
I found myself so immersed in this book and Lillian’s story. There were so many palpable and vivid scenes, I felt as if I was in the same room as these characters. As a murder/crime mystery documentary lover and hopeful future writer myself, I LOVED following Allison’s’ story as she helped Lillian tell her truth. Normally reading the things these girls go through (SA, abuse, etc) don’t get to me so hard, but some of the incidents in their lives, their family members, and more reflected even my own life to the point that; At a few times, I felt like I was reading about myself!
The way inner struggle, mental health, the choices we are given as women, and the alienation of being a survivor, were portrayed in this book felt accurate and truthful to me. It resonated with me the way the author showed the ugly side of healing. I appreciate this, and I hope to see more accurate portrayals of this in books. Many people don’t prefer this in their fiction, but I think it’s important to show the way abuse, and trauma can stay with people. Even further on into their lives.
There were times I had to go back and reread parts that didn’t make sense to me personally the first time (I read a little too fast whoops!) but that’s the only “problem” I had with this one. Other than that, I honestly enjoyed this book and recommend it for crime readers!

Chloe has had a hard upbringing and at 25 has never had a boyfriend or been kissed. She meets Chris when she goes to interview for a job at a school and he’s the principal. Chloe’s only family is her 2 friends Gabby and Jess and Gabby’s mom who has taken over the role of mom to Chloe. When she and Chris become friends and she meets his parents they fall in love with Chloe. Chris is fed up of the selfish women who come on to him. Its all about what he can do for them and not about who he is as a person. When he meets Chloe he realizes she is different and wants to get to know her better. This is the first book in the ‘Finding Happiness in Harmony series’ and it is such a heartwarming story of best friends and first love which really gave me a feel good feeling, and I love a happy ending. Chloe Larson is twenty five and has never really been kissed let alone had a relationship as Chloe believes she’s better off with friends so she can’t get hurt. This is as a result of having had a bad childhood which was spent hiding a secret and being ridiculed. Anyway, Chloe is busy being a reporter by day and spending weekends living life to the fullest with best friends and roommates Gaby and Jess, so she has no time for romance. Meanwhile, Chris Sherman is bored of the selfish women that he seems to attract and having just got out of a relationship he is definitely not looking for love. Until, he meets Chloe and everything changes for Chris and he is determined to get to know her, but Chloe is still wary of letting anyone in. They both need to find the courage and choose love. This is a small town romance which I felt totally immersed in as the authors descriptive narrative bought both the characters and the setting to life. I felt Chloe and Chris were both likeable and relatable characters and I loved seeing how their relationship developed. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

The Murders of Lillian Ross by Sirena Van Schaik. I LOVED this book. I read it in 2 settings. I couldn’t hardly put it down. Its the story of author Allison McKinnon who has taken on the story of Lillian Ross who is in prison for the murder of her father and her pimp/husband. Allison has written several true crime stories so is familiar with going to prisons to visit inmates but there is something about Lillian that doesn’t set right with her. Allison has her own past she is dealing with and there is something about Lillian that feels familiar. Her mother has begged her not to write this book but she is determined to finish it even though she has started getting threats about it. What Allison finds out about Lillian’s uptown upbringing is shocking and not so different than her own past. Will Allison survive long enough to get the book published? Is Lillian really guilty of these horrible crimes? Read this book to find out! You won’t be disappointed!

I honestly loved this book. it is a 4th in a series, and I had not previously read the others in the series, but still was super easy to follow. Needless to say the book just sucked me right in from the beginning and made me curious quite much, to how the story and events to follow would play out. What can I say, Ima girl whom loves romantic tales with a double dash of suspense mixed into the pot!
The story has the location of the character and a love interest, named Jessica. Sweet lady and owns a bed and breakfast! She reminded me of myself a bit. She had a tough boundary when it came to her heart, but yet even I knew from reading it was only a matter of time before those walls broke on down.
Bring forth Will. He is a awesome uncle who is watching over his sisters kids. She had some hard times and he stepped in to care for the two children. This made him very commendable in my opinion. He adored those kids and quite frankly, they meant the world to him. Was there more room in his world though to let someone else in?
Lives collide and Will ad the children are staying at Jessica’s bed and breakfast. Instant chemistry and they both had walls up I found (Will and Jessica) But, eventually, like anything that can stand it has the possibility to fall. And to me this was a passion ignited and a need like no other. But was this paradise meant to last?
Things start to happen that make things known that all is not all perfectly ok. Events that happened at the beginning that lead Will and the kids to Jessica’s bed and breakfast collide and all makes sense. And realization comes even if the place your at is truly happy, are you safe from the danger that lurks outside the walls itself?
As more of the story presented itself, more suspense and gripping moments occurred for me and I wanted to go deeper and know what would happen next. Loved it truly. It was very well put together and I enjoyed it form start to finish. I wish I could have spent more time with the characters and see where their paths take them next. It was really good, but still saying just that is an understatement.
I am so glad I got to discover this author, and this new series I can go back to and also fall in love with the other books in the series. It is a series not to be missed, and most certainly a author not to miss out on. I really enjoyed this book and the story line for Jessica and Will. The author surely does not disappoint!

This original and intriguing story is the first book in a new trilogy and having been gripped all the way through this first instalment I now can not wait for book two. This fairly short but action packed read is a real page turner of a sci-fi thriller and although not my normal genre I was thoroughly immersed in the unique storyline and felt engaged with the main characters. This is a book that really gets the reader thinking. The story is told from three very different but relatable women’s view, Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly all of whom are desperate to change their lives and so turn to the fourth main character, the mysterious Dr. Kite. He offers them a radical new medical procedure, a ‘quick fix’, an implant that can control their mind. The three women are willing to risk the unknown side effects in the hope that they find the happiness they crave. However, will getting their deepest desires become their worst nightmare. A thought provoking read which I definitely recommend and as the story continues in book two I am now eager to read the next instalment.

I enjoyed this book by Jane Suen. Alterations explored the possibility of individuals being able to change aspects of their bodies or minds with technology. The story gave us a glimpse of what the future could be, both the good and the bad should humans try to go down the path of playing god in the attempt to perfect the human body. Jane Suen’s novel provides both hope and caution to humans as we continue to look for easy fixes in a quest to live forever. Jane Suen is a new author for me but based on the book Alterations, I look forward to reading more from her.

Chloe Larson is a very cute character. Chris Sherman is a very unique male character. This a lovely writteb story however the start was extremely slow it gets it pace better towards the middle of the book. I love how it basically love at First sight which is so cute. I love how happy these two make each other and how well their inreacton with each other.

I love finding authors with a unique voice. And this series from Hoffman is one that stands out to me for several reasons. In an era where too often fiction we pick up has very strong male leads, Hoffman dares to provide male characters that have depth, a distinct voice, and emotion (gasp). I really have enjoyed the emotional journey this book and series has taken me on. Just really well written.

This left me shattered. Completely shattered. I love how India Kells walks me through a beautiful story every single time filled with a beautiful relationship and so much emotion. This book – wow.
