Walker Pride is the first book in The Walker Family series by Bernadette Marie. It is a western romance- it’s a sweet and touching second chances story, with insta-love, new beginnings, family, emotion, and enough dramatic developments to keep things interesting. I enjoyed this story and liked the characters- they were well-developed with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Date Night by K.M Lowe is a slow burn romance about finding love unexpectedly. It is a quick and easy read that I finished in just over an hour. I have read a few of K.M Lowe’s other books before, so I had a fairly good idea of what to expect- but for some reason I can’t quite pinpoint, I found these characters and their story quite hard to connect with. I really wanted to love this story- but the characters felt a little ‘flat’ to me, and some of the scenes felt rushed or forced. I will revisit this book in a few weeks for a reread, just in case I was having an ‘off’ reading day this time around.

My Sweet GI is a beautiful historical romance by T.L. Wainwright. This is the first book I have read/listened to by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last. This book features Jenny and Teddy, and their story in England during World War II. This book is a little bit sweet with a little bit sassy. I listened to this book in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop until it was finished. It was well worth my time.
This book is narrated by Rooke Kingston. This was the first book I have listened to by this narrator, and I just fell in love with her voice. I look forward to listening to more books narrated by Rooke in the future.

Key West Dead (Jake Wolfe Book 6) by Mark Nolan is another excellent read. I really like these Jake Wolfe books. They are good whodunit novels, mystery, intrigue, plenty of action, and just the right amount of love. I have to say, in view of the way this story plays out, I’m really worried about that snake. One of the things I like best about Mark Nolan’s books is that not everything is made up. Even though some of it sounds science fictiony he always takes the time and trouble to tell you about his research on the things that he adds to the story. I really like that, I think you will too.

Bovine Tricks by Seelie Kay turned out to be quite an original and engrossing romantic suspense. It has lots of intrigue, drama, romance, and an unusual investigation that leads our character/s on quite an eye opening adventure. The book had my curiosity piqued right from the beginning, what with the title and the blurb- colour me intrigued. MISix agent Tillie Spenser is Tasked with finding a missing member of the British aristocracy- but this missing person case gets a whole lot more complicated than she could ever have imagined- leading to an investigation she won’t soon forget, that’s for sure. He’s the boss. She’s infatuated. Mia Andarakis and Nicholas Aristedis are more than drawn to one another. However, in many respects in this love/hate story Mia and Nicholas have everything working against them. Not only due to the fact that Mia’s job as Nicholas’s assistant is a new one, one that cannot be upset by revealing the very strong feelings she has for him, the fact that they come from two different worlds bears serious consideration.
Love By Design is a wonderful read, and follows Love Is What You Bake of it. These are delightful stories rich with warm characters and who find love despite difficult obstacles. The trope in this book does not come without merit and I loved finding out what baggage Mia and Nicholas were holding onto and what it took for them to be able to work things out. The setting in this book is added a special touch, especially due to the fact that the characters are Greek, also the family owns a café and the fact that delectable recipes are included made the book even better.
I love that Mia had such a strong crush from the start and I truly enjoyed watching Nicholas come around. This story was sensitive, warm and definitely made me smile. Watching the pair navigate their professional and personal lives all while trying to learn how to deal with their feelings was a joy to read. I am already eager for the third book in this series.

The Earl and the Peahen (The Scarlet Salon Book 5) by Jean Wilde was another great read in this series! This book can be read as a stand alone, or at least I take it to be read that way. This one I think was more entertaining to me than the fourth book I read. I’ve only read this book and the fourth one as of yet. This one was entertaining, and steamy, and grabbed me from the very beginning. I enjoyed reading Jane’s tale in this book. I can’t wait to read more from this author and I hope there’s more installments to this series as well!

A Gentleman’s Stipulation (The Scarlet Salon Book 4) by Jean Wilde was a really good read! This book is part of a series, but if there were any past events that contributed to the storyline I didn’t notice or couldn’t tell so I would say this book can be read as a stand-alone novel. I loved the storyline of this novel, and the characters and events that transpired. I was instantly taken with this novel, regardless of not reading the previous installments. My only complaint were character names. I wish there was more clarification on the characters or an index of some sort. I stayed lost with the names for half of the book. Other than that I really enjoyed reading this novel and can’t wait to read more.

Love by Design is the second book in the Meraki Series by Effie Kammenou. I highly recommend reading the first book to get the most enjoyment of the series. This is a contemporary romance story. It is a story that I found myself in with the characters. The characters are fully developed and complicated. Mia has found her dream job but she has to work with Nicholas, her crush. They are on an adventure of a new publication. Both Mia and Nicholas have a past that has been a bit rough. They must find some healing before they can start a relationship. Can they find peace and healing from their past? I highly recommend this book to find out what happens to Mia and Nicholas.

We are in a world that raises serious questions about sexual fetishes, intentional physical enhancements, and even, pornography, but in the end, Tillie has only one mission to rescue and return Lady Annabelle to the Queen.
Luckily, Tillie has her partner Agent Abdul Ali, he is her work partner and her life partner and they work great together. While struggling with their feeling they must work hard on this case.
Will they be able to over come their issues or will they walk away from each other to follow different paths?

Great light & fun read!!!! This story flowed so easily and I couldn’t put the book down :). I loved the chemistry between Kyle and Hannah. Nothing like having sweetness and definitely some sass to make date nights and love between two people flow so easily. Highly recommend this book.

Ready For Flynn, Part 1 AUDIO BOOK by K.L. Shandwick was an emotional listen. I loved the author’s attention to detail and the narrator’s ability to bring it all to life. You get swept into Valerie’s life and like everyone’s life at 15 it is dramatic. I enjoyed Flynn’s character and the fact that he kept coming back for Valerie. I went through a ton of emotions and loved every minute of it. This book was definitely a great escape.

This is book 2 of this series and I honestly think you could read these as standalone novels, but it’s so nice to have the full back story. This is Mia and Nicholas’s story. If you read book one, this is the middle sister’s story. It was so well told with great word building and a wonderful backstory. I love these two characters and this series. I can’t wait for the next!

I enjoyed these alternative adaptions of well-known myths, legends, and even folklore. I was able to completely submerge myself in each story. In particular, Queens of the Underworld by Arizona Tape spoke to me, the imagery and interpretation were new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire weft of the story. I recommend this anthology to anyone looking for a short escape from reality, each story is short and fast.

Exhale and Move On is a highly erotic romance by K.L. Shandwick. It started out fast paced and continued to be highly entertaining throughout the story. I love Rock n’ Roll romances, but this one I think is really close to how those band really live on the road. I enjoyed the interaction between Rick, Lennon and Coral, but I have to say this book is not safe to listen to at work.
This os also my first book narrated by Bolton Hill. His voice is deep and sexy. He really brought the characters to life. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I’m definitely looking for more books narrated by Bolton Hill in the future.

Flowers in December is a self enlightening story by Jane Suen. I have read three or four books by Ms. Suen, but I have to say I think this is my favorite so far. This story was personal for me having lost my mother this last year. This short story was beautifully written and very emotional. This book had me from the first page to the last. Conner Norton’s struggle with grief is prominent in this story as he returns to his hometown town for his mother’s funeral. After the funeral he stays to get his family affairs in order, which brings on self reflection. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster, I definitely needed my box of tissues. Conner’s strength of character made this story flow. I highly recommend this book.
This is the first book narrated by Rich Miller, but definitely won’t be the last. I really enjoyed his voice and he really brought the characters to life.

This is a Young Adult novel and is 296 pages. This story follows Ivy. Ivy views herself as really not fitting in anywhere. I mean, when your BFF’s are spiders, it kind of throws people off a bit. One day, she opens her neighbors mail and unbeknownst to her she ends up summoning the four horsemen and next thing you know she is faced with either creating an apocalypse or saving her mother. So, she decides to go the apocalypse route. I really enjoyed reading this book. I think we have all felt like Ivy at some point in our teenage years.
Relentless, meaning never giving up. Layla is relentless in looking for her sister. Dereck is relentless in helping and protecting Layla. Even the bad guys are relentless in their human trafficking pursuits.
I enjoyed the banter between Layla and Dereck through-out the entire book. And I really like how Layla is such a tough woman. She can protect herself, find her sister and still love the man. Mari has created believable characters and a real-life world that is worth reading about.
While Relentless is not my favorite of Mari’s stories, it is still 4-star worthy. This story can be read as a stand alone since the previous characters are only slightly mentioned. But the Billionaire Bodyguard series is worth the read.

“Murder at Honeybee Lake” is a follow-up to “Rebecca Remains,” a very twisty paranormal mystery. This one begins a year after “Rebecca…” resolves. In this one, Tessa’s friend Randy – who provided her with a guest room when she was hiding from Keith – has been living with Ben at their home at the lake for a year now. Down at the dock one evening, Ben pulls a dead body out from under the dock. Randy handles this badly, refusing to believe that Ben found an actual body until the police confirm it the next day. Ben is deeply offended by Randy’s behavior, yet he readily accepts Randy’s marriage proposal later in the week. Their engagement starts on a rocky note as Randy is arrested for the murder of his … already dead lover? WHAT? Denver died years before, from cancer. How did he end up in the lake? And how did the murder weapon show up under Randy’s deck? Ben runs away from all the drama, leaving Emily’s (Tessa’s sister) wife Mandy to solve the murder, as she knows her brother Randy could NOT have murdered any one! If Randy didn’t do it, did Ben? Did Denver “engineer” his own death? Randy undergoes severe abuse and homophobia from the prison guards, and has to depend upon Mandy and Randy’s estranged father, a lawyer, to get him out of the horrendous jail conditions. This is pretty hard to read, even though Randy finds a friend in the jail’s nurse and a closeted gay guard, Simon. The paranormal is much stronger in this book than in book #1. Randy and Ben both act strangely at times, and both attempt suicide. Were they … not themselves … when the suicide attempts occurred? This is all really twisty and the plot points of either Ben or Randy being the murderer are very convincingly drawn. So who murdered the already-dead Denver? Can Tessa contact Denver to find out? Parts of this novel get pretty repetitive, but it is twisty and suspenseful. The repetition knocks down the star rating from a 3.3ish to an even 3 stars.

Tessa and Keith have been married for a year now. Keith is everything Tessa has ever wanted in a husband: attentive and protective. Even if she gave up her relationship w/ her last living relative – her sister – and her job to be Keith’s wife. Tessa and her sister have been estranged the entirety of Tessa’s marriage, b/c Emily did not like their eloping nor Keith’s over-protectiveness. Tessa begins dreaming about a woman with long, red hair, warning her that Keith will hurt Tessa, just like he hurt her. It turns out that this woman really exists – existed? – because she is Rebecca, Keith’s former wife. Rebecca shows Tessa proof of the abuse she suffered and tells her that she was actually murdered – by Keith. In Tessa’s non-dream life, she reaches out to Emily, to end their estrangement, and for help. Since we readers now know that Keith is an abuser, it makes sense that he gets upset at Tessa and Emily re-connecting. When Tessa begins suffering endless headaches and fatigue, Keith arranges for a doctor’s appointment; it turns out Tessa is pregnant. Her dreams of beginning a new family are coming true! Except – they are not. After finding proof that the dream woman was telling Tessa the truth – and the episode of marital rape by her supposedly-perfect husband – Emily and her girlfriend, Mandy, help Tessa move out. Between the frightening dreams, and trying to establish a new life in which Keith cannot find her, Tessa and Emily try to solve Rebecca’s murder. Tessa needs peace and Rebecca deserves justice. Emily encourages Tessa to explore her gift – communicating with dead people, in order to accomplish both goals. The story becomes progressively more suspenseful, as the reader awaits the probable confrontation with Keith What a plot twist awaits! Not only do we get the confrontation, but it is nothing like we expected, as we also learn the truth about the fates of Tessa’s and Emily’s parents! It certainly was NOT what they had been told. There is very little exposition at the beginning of the novel: the plot becomes suspenseful immediately. A bit more exposition would have been helpful. Tessa makes unrealistic leaps in knowledge, seeming to understand situations well before she should have. It seems unrealistic for a woman being stalked by her husband to jump as quickly into a “new” relationship as Tessa does with her high school flame, Tommy. I was really sickened by the marital rape and abuse. Fortunately, the plot improved from there, becoming more about establishing a new family from friendships as opposed to more traditional family arrangements. I rounded the book up to 3 stars. It is not my typical genre, and I will probably stick closer to paranormal cozy mysteries as opposed to more “realistic” suspenseful mysteries like this one.

Oh my goodness, she’s done it again with this great story. I love Derek and Layla so much and was a little sad when I finished the book.
So much happens starting at the very beginning and it never let’s up. Between the sparks flying between Derek and Layla to the revelations close to the end of the story which I totally didn’t see I couldn’t stop reading.
I loved this book which can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the book before this in the series at least. There is a bit of crossover and reading both will make everything make more sense.
I have no patience waiting for books and thankfully I don’t have to wait for the next in the series. It’s already in my kindle waiting for me.

Tiwatipara is a charioteer, working for the Hittite King Hatusshili, as his father and grandfather have done before him. He loves caring for the great horses who pull the chariots, as well as the chariots themselves. Tipa drives the chariot of the crown prince, the eldest son and probable heir of the King. And then a tragedy occurs: while racing, Tipa’s grandfather is severely injured and his father is killed in an accident while driving the king. When Tipa discovers that the chariot had been sabotaged, his life’s purpose becomes finding the saboteur and exacting revenge. This is the basic plot line for the rest of the book, but mostly, there is a lot of world-building and so many unusual names – of people, cities, and nations. If a reader pronounces words in their heads as they read, the reading will be slowed to a crawl by the difficulty of doing so w/ the unusual names. The intertwined relationships amongst the books characters are also difficult. That being said, the descriptions of charioteering, marching armies, and battles are pretty thrilling. Constant heartbreak for Tipa – and an unexpected, huge plot twist – keep one reading. The major flaw in the plot – besides the difficult names – is that the saboteur of the king’s chariot is so glaringly obvious as to remove most suspense from the novel. I read the Kindle version of the novel, in which the author’s notes, acknowledgements, and a glossary of names were at the end of the book. It would have been most helpful to have read them all first, as many of the people and conflicts delineated in the book are actually historical. This information elevated the number of stars that I will assign the book to 3.4 stars, rounding down to 3.

Via Mari has done it again. This series has many twists and turns. But the romance is swoon worthy. The characters are hot, hot, hot. But the women are strong willed and independent. I loved this story as well as the storyline. I turned page after page and could not put the book down. I will be looking for the 5th book in this series. No Spoilers in this review, although??? This book is definitely HOT HOT HOT. The characters were interesting, though I would have liked a little more background on each. The storyline itself was good, and the audible version was enjoyable – the narrator’s voice is like melted butter SO YUMMY!! The ending was anti-clamatic after all the steaminess of the story, but overall a easy enjoyable listen.

A quick listen for a relaxing Saturday. This story had a good storyline, interesting characters and a happy ending. The dynamic of the flashbacks was great, but it was hard to grasp in the beginning. Probably would have realized if I read the book vs listening to the audible version. But good overall and the flashback dynamic made it interesting.

Myths and Legends: An Indie Love Anthology is a collection of stories all based on well known myths and legends. Each book puts a different spin on a well known tale and makes something exciting out of it. Most of these authors are new authors to me and I found that I enjoyed each and w dry book for different reasons. They all fit really well into the collection but also stood up on their own. Each book was adventurous and fast paced, making it quite a quick anthology to get through. Yet stories were exciting and well written and great to read. This is definitely a collection worth your time.
