Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman. From start to finish I was completely drawn in and couldn’t put it down until I’d finished. Leda and the other cast of characters bring this story to life. Each one being complex and unique, each having a story to be told through the pages of this book. It’s filled with teenage emotions, complicated relationships of all kinds. It’s a unique story that’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters just pull you into their world and take readers on a journey. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended.

Around Midnight by Zarina Macha. This is a new author for me and I’m excited I found her because this story was great. The author writes characters that are complex and relatable, they have a great chemistry that has the storyline running smoothly and kept me trying to read faster to see what was going to happen and trying to slow down. It’s a story that has our characters learning how and when to follow your heart and dealing with life in general. We truly get to watch the characters grow. The storyline is engaging and well written, had a steady pace that never felt rushed. It’s a really good story and I highly recommend it. Four stars all the way and I excited to see what else this author has to offer.

Brutal & Raw: Mafia Romance & Psychological Thriller (Beneventi Family Book 1) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Brutal & Raw (Beneventi Family, #1)Brutal & Raw by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, I was literally hooked from page one until I turned the last page of this psychological mafia romance thriller. This was a fast paced attention grabbing book by Sonya Jesus which I could not put down. The story centres around the Beneventi Family, a dark, powerful and dangerous mafia family. We are introduced to a female known only as 327, “327. That’s what he called me. That’s all I was to him”. Breaker Beneventi a handsome, powerful but extremely dangerous man with a dark side and a damaged soul takes a liking to 327 and tells her his secrets, secrets which could bring down his whole organisation if she ever gets free of him. Having ordered her death she is let go. However 327, knows this is just another twisted way of Breaker trying to control her with fear, knowing that he will be sending the ‘Butcher’ after her. Breaker searches everywhere for the, on the run Lyla Vaughn, but is that who she really is? No spoilers, you just have to read this book.

This is more a suspenseful psychological thriller than a romance, any romance there is has an underlying dark essence. The book is packed full of great characters, even if you don’t and can’t like them, such as the main alpha character, Breaker. It has an action packed storyline which had me holding my breathe in anticipation in parts and it is full of plot twists which keep you guessing so it’s definitely not a predictable read. Jesus is so detailed in her writing that the dark, twisted and dangerous world of the Beneventi family and the mafia as a whole is bought to life. “Breaker’s world is not light-hearted”, and I would say this book is not for the faint hearted either.

A great read which will have you up reading all night, I recommend it and I am looking forward to further books in the Beneventi Family series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a dark and thrilling book that had me wondering what was going to happen next. Sonya was a new author for me, but I fell in love with her writing and her mind instantly. The two main characters were so strongly created I slipped into my favorite part of reading and became part of the story! I don’t want anyone to think this will be an “easy” read. It was emotional and the situations that our characters are put through are horrible. This isn’t your typical mafia romance story at all. With every twist and turn of this book I was held captive! It took me one day to read this. I will absolutely read the next book and will read everything by Sonya Jesus.

I have read both Mountains Wanted and Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander and this third book Mountains Loved didn’t let me down either! I have fallen for Sarah and James since the first book. Their story has such depth that I feel myself getting drawn in every time I open a Mountains Series. It’s an absolute must (in my opinion) to read the first two before this one. You will NOT be disappointed. Also the steamy scenes that Phoebe gives are AMAZING.

By: Brooke May

Call of the Alpha by Brooke May is the 2nd installment of The Powder River Pack series. This book is about Rylie Press biologist and Mason Fischer single dad and Alpha of the Powder River Pack. I could not get enough of this book. It hooks you right from the start. It’s a bit of a slow burn. May does a great job of building the romance and chemistry between Mason and Rylie. I also loved how she made Mason’s son a big part of the story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I’m hoping the next one will be about Alexa and Miles because their relationship within this story had me on the edge of my seat.

2am Secrets2am Secrets by M. Piper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

2AM Secrets by M. Piper is a first for me by this author and I enjoyed the story very much. This intriguing story had all the right ingredients for a hot and steamy romance, there is the hot best friend of the hot but moody brother, love and loss, heartbreak and heartache, secrets and lies, laughter and hot and sizzling sexy time. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and Ms Piper did a great job on them and with the telling of her story.

Archer has loved her for so long he can’t imagine not having her in his life, but he wants more. Unfortunately, there is one thing standing in his way, his best friend. But doesn’t he deserve to have what he wants?

Sadie is always dancing around the man she has loved her whole life, but it can never be, all because he is her brother’s best friend and that is a definite no go no matter what her heart wants.

I loved it so much I need to have more.

Brutal & Raw: Mafia Romance & Psychological Thriller (Beneventi Family Book 1) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Karyn Taylor

Brutal & Raw (Beneventi Family, #1)Brutal & Raw by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brutal & Raw is Book 1 in the Beneventi Series by Sonya Jesus. Jesus is a new author to me and if this book is anything to go by then I’m sure this series is going to be outstanding. I absolutely loved this book. I was instantly gripped from the very beginning and was not let go until the story ended. Even then, I think I was still enmeshed in this fantastically woven tale.
Lyla Vaughn has escaped from the clutches of mafia boos Breaker Beneventi and has no intention of ever being captured by him. So why does he still control all her thoughts? And why can’t she forget how good he made her feel at times?
Breaker Beneventi has recently killed his mafia boss father and has taken over the family. His head is all over the place though and not totally in the game. The one woman who has ever interested him (Lyla, or number 327, as she’s known) has been allowed to escape and he needs her back, to kill her, as she knows far too many of his secrets.
This is a fascinating tale, told from both POV’s as Lyla tries to evade capture by staying at a woman’s refuge and Breaker does everything possible to find her.
The author does a fantastic job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, wondering what the hell is going to happen next. I can add that there are a few curveballs thrown that I never saw coming and totally surprised the hell out of me.
I guarantee any reader will love this book if you like a good psychological thriller. I really could not put this book down and eagerly anticipate more of this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Career driven Biologist Rylie Press returns to her hometown and meets single dad and alpha of the Powder River Pack, Mason Fischer and neither can deny their sizzling chemistry. Rylie’s scent alone is enough to convince wolf shifter Mason that she is his ‘mate’. Rylie however is unaware of Mason’s ‘kind’ and so he must convince her that it is fate that they are together.
I loved this paranormal romance featuring wolf shifters who are part of alpha Mason’s pack. The chemistry between the main characters, Rylie and Mason was steamy and instant. I liked how the author wrote the story from both characters points of view and having a detailed backstory of both of them gave real insight into the characters, both of which I loved.
I have not read book 1 in ‘The Powder River Pack’ series but this story worked well as a standalone read, but I’m keen to read book one as I enjoyed this book. A great read.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains, #2)Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lt. James McAllister and Sociology Professor Dr. Sarah Lynde’s story is continued in ‘Mountains Climbed’, having begun in ‘Mountains Wanted’. This series by Phoebe Alexander just gets better and better. The books do need to be read in order, “The first three Mountains Series books must be read in order, as it is James and Sarah’s continuing saga”.
This is a steamy contemporary romance and it is recommended for age 18+, the sizzling chemistry between the characters definitely leads to some steamy sex scenes!
This book continues where the first one finished with James deployed and engaged to childhood sweetheart Maggie and a devastated Sarah moving on with handsome Garrett Stone. Although Garrett is a good distraction for Sarah, when her and James meet up when he’s home from deployment they can not deny their attraction.
This is a well written story with great characters that I fell in love with in book one and continue to feel part of their world. I am probably bias, but I was cheering Sarah and James on as it’s obvious they should be together but author Phoebe Alexander sends us on an emotional rollercoaster and as there is a third book in the series, we do not discover their fate in this book. I can not wait for Mountains Loved, and I hope that Garrett will get his own story and a happy every after as well.

2am Secrets by M. Piper wasn’t excellent and addictive read. It was romantic, funny, and steamy. Brothers best friend falls for sister. I loved it. Archer was amazing in more ways than one and so was Sadie. Sam, the brother definitely had some issues going on. This was a whirlwind story and I loved the amount of love that existed between everyone, including their sweet Mimi. I also have a Mimi and felt a personal connection here. The storyline moved along very well and was organized. Oh, and the ending was amazing. I mean seriously wow and sweet. This was such a fantastic book and it definitely earned its 5-stars. This is a fantastic paranormal romance. It is the second book in the Powder River Pack series but can be read as a stand-alone. I found the story to be well written and interesting. The characters are wonderful and relatable. The author put a somewhat different twist to werewolves. Obviously they are hot which led to some sizzling scenes with their mates. Mason is drool worthy on top of being the alpha and a single dad. Rylie was a strong female lead yet not infallible. The story is filled with passion, secrets and heartache. With danger added in, the book will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I think it’s a great addition to the series. Now I need book three to be about Miles because I need to know what happens with that situation.

There is something missing in their relationship, will they find it to get their HEA that they have always wanted? They are awesome characters with great chemistry. I loved reading the story Mountains Loved (Mountains Series #3) by Phoebe Alexander. It is the third book in the story of James and Sarah. These two have chemistry and a strong love for each other. They also still have some mountains that they must climb. Situations with family and if they will have an open relationship are complications that they must face. What does the future hold for James and Sarah? Will they be torn apart? Will their relationship crumble or will they overcome the mountains that are before them? Read this book to find out. James and Sarah are wonderful characters and this story only makes me love them even more. This is a book that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are heartbreaking moments when I had misty eyes and heartwarming moments that are amazing to read about. There are characters from the first two stories brought forward and I enjoyed reading about how their lives are progressing and also how they interact with Sarah and James. This is a book that I found myself thinking about even after I had read the final page. This is a story that deals with trust, past experiences, and grief. It is a book that you don’t want to miss out on. This is a series that is best read in order for a full understanding of what is happening. Highly recommend reading.

This is book 2 in the Mountains Series by one of my new favorite authors.
I would say I’m shocked by the Sgt.’s choice but I’m not even if I was rooting for he and the professor to wind up together. You can’t help but to love James as he stays in Sarah’s kids’ lives even though he’s in a relationship with Maggie. Soon, Sarah moves on as well while performing in a play with her daughter. She tries to fall head over heels with Garrett, who she realizes that he’s not worth what she brings to the table. After the deployment, James returns to only be miles away from Sarah, Maggie becomes insecure. I love the way Phoebe Alexander writes as she keeps us vying for her characters and the way their life is in each book. Pick up this second book of the series to see how this story plays out. I hope you enjoy!

I completely loved the banter between the two characters. They kept me on the edge of my seat and their chemistry sizzled off the pages!
