This was a fun quick read. Kaia is a superstar with a ton of adoring fans but none of them know who she truly is. She has worked hard to become as successful as she is. After a grueling schedule on tour she has decided to be her true self, Abigail Dilwort and do her semester of student teaching to get her teachers license. She has a lot of insecurities about being herself due to her childhood. Everett is the AP and science teacher at the school she will be teaching at, they don’t make the best first impression of each other when they meet. Kaia finds herself in a bind due to a friend and that’s when the fake fiancé comes into play. This story is full of drama, romance, friends, family, lessons, and great characters. This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m glad I took the chance. I enjoyed reading this book. I recommend this book.

4 R’s is my first read by Julie Castle and I will definitely be checking out more books by her. This 4 book collection is full of drama, intrigue, suspense, danger, and plenty of romance. The first book, Fool’s Gold, finds Rafe and Sarah in a battle for their marriage, as well as their land. The undeniable chemistry between the two can clearly be felt through the amazing writing of Julie Castle. This one had some twists and turns that took me by surprise. The second book, Her Heart’s Desire, introduces Samantha and Jake and their love/hate relationship with one another. This one definitely packed in the suspense. The third book, Serena’s Web, finds Serena and Mark entangled with the mob. This was a lot more suspenseful than I was expecting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Forced proximity tropes always seem to exceed my expectations. The final book, It Had to be You, finds Candy and Greg, past adversaries thrown together after many years apart. This one still has some drama but was a lot less suspenseful; a little more relaxed. Julie Castle’s world building in this series is great and the depth and personality of her characters is amazing! I love that each story had its own style and story line and wasn’t just a generic, boring narrative. Each book is unique and exciting. I can’t wait to read more by Julie Castle.
This box set is a historical romance set in Portugal´s Douro Valley in the 1800´s. Each story showcases a different relationship intertwining the Portuguese royalty. There are three books in this box set. I love historical romance, so finding a new author with such a fascinating talent for writing this genre brings fresh air. I loved each of these books, I could not pick one as my favorite!!
The True Purpose of Vines Widowed winemaker Julia Costa is set to lose her entire livelihood to one egotistical Englishman named Griffin Maxwell. Julia takes on teaching Griffin about Portugal´s food, history, and culture. Throughout the book the pair faces trials and the headache of the plague threatens to destroy the wine vines. Yet, their disdain turns into passionate forbidden love.
The Taste of Light In this second book, we focus on a character named Padro. We meet him in the first book. He was in love with Julia but we already learned she chose Griffin. It is nice to read more about Padro and see how he starts to form a new relationship with Anne. when the two start to get to know each other Padro does not know who Anne is. But finding out that Anne is the little sister to the man who stole the love of his life makes their courtship that much sweeter in his eyes.
The Truth about Myths In the third book, we meet Princess Isabel de Orleans, of Portugal. Isabel is about to embark on a trip to Spain to spend time with her cousin and help out their country as she must do so. Although Isabel demonstrates nationalism she is eager to embark on the trip to Spain. That is until she learns that her brother´s (the King) friend Henrique to accompany the princess. The two are complete opposites. Isabel is proper and prig, whereas Henrique is playful, witty, and overly charming. How will they both ever make it to Spain in one piece? Perhaps by growing feelings for each other but will it work?

Each book in this series can be read as a standalone. That said it is a beautiful historical journey to Portugal with three sets, six total, perspectives. Each unique character has their own background and life experiences that make each book unique to them alone. Dual perspectives in each book. Book One – Julia and Griffin. Book Two – Anne and Pedro. Book Three – Isabel and Henrique.
Book One – The True Purpose of Vines: Julia and Griffin have one common goal, to provide a better life for their families, but they have vastly different plans on how to do so. Julia has her son, aunt and cousin living with her. She aims to become the best vineyard in the country. Griffin has his mother and younger sister he cares for. He aims to become a partner with his boss only his boss has other plans. After an intense initial meeting that sets the two at odds with each other a sudden mysterious plague (to the vineyards) threatening to destroy everything they are forced to work together. Will they solve the mysterious plague killing the vineyards? Who will Griffin marry? Will Julia’s secret valley be successful?

Book Three – The Truth About Myths: Princess Isabel de Orleans is the Kings little sister. While being prudish she would do anything for her country. For her there is nothing greater than patriotism. Henrique, Viscount Penafiel, has no roots but when asked for a favor by his best friend, the king, he has no choice but to agree. Forced together on their travels the differences become less daunting as they realize they’re not so different, where it matters. Patriotism can only go so far before the burden of its weight can crush your very soul. Will Isabel learn where the line of balance is? Can Henrique save her in time? What will happen to her beloved Portugal?
Throughout this series we learn so much more about the history of Portugal and Spain. While the author is open and honest that it is works of imagination there are aspects of the books that draw from the rich tapestry of history shared between the two countries. This series has diffidently topped my list of historical romance books to recommend to others. Summer of Mud by Rebecca Bischoff. This is an amazing coming of age story set in 1976 that sticks with you long after you’ve finished it. It’s the story of Scoob and her brother RC who are both musical prodigies. They have been dealt a hard hand in life losing both of their parents at a very young age and have found themselves homeless. When Scoob gets a gig she just knows that this is the break she has been waiting for. RC wants her to go on a road trip so she gives up the gig to go with him but they are broke and find themselves in a small town in Idaho, not sure where their next meal is going to come from. This town is a farming town that is up in arms over a newly built dam. When another tragedy comes within striking distance of Scoob and her brother it can either break them or make them. Its a story of family, loyalty and a tale of simpler times. I truly enjoyed every minute of this book. It’s one I wish I could read again for the first time!

When I looked at this cover and read the blurb I already fell in love 🤣❣️📚what can I say I’m a sucker for a good cover because it’s almost guaranteed that what’s in between is going to be brilliant !
Abigail is a pop star but at heart she’s a teacher and after her latest world tour she gets the opportunity to go “ under cover “ and complete her teaching degree , she’s a student teacher at a high school and just as she thinks she can breath a little easier she meets her vice principal and he’s a little rough around the edges but oh so easy on the eyes and while I get where he’s coming from , to a degree I can’t help but feel sorry for Abigail , I mean hello give the girl a break …..
Everett has his hands full trying to be chemistry teacher , look after his sister , his “ secret job” and be vice principal ( I’d also be a little flustered 😉) but things are getting a little more intense for him because he now has to deal with Abigail aka Kaia and she ruffles his feathers but like I said he could cut her some slack …. Also he’s got a chip on his shoulder thanks to an ex girlfriend and between us I could just kick her on the shins for being so unkind but you know what it’s her loss !
Anyhoo these 2 have a love hate relationship if you like but then fate intervenes “ Kaia” needs a love interest thanks to some sly slithering snake who I shall not mention , she doesn’t need airtime with her nasty intentions 🙈😡anyway Everett agrees to be the fake fiancé ( wicked giggle and rubbing of hands ) and then things get interesting and I found myself laughing , crying , getting frustrated and feeling disgusted and disillusioned by people but good will always overcome especially when cheering the right team 🥰
My heart really hurt for Abigail because on stage she oozes confidence as Kaia but take away that mask she can play behind and you have a girl that just wants to be , she wants to fit in , she want’s acceptance like the rest of us and it makes her human and I think more often than not that’s the case in real life isn’t it !? As for Everett , you’re a honey but let things go my friend … an enjoyable and fun read and it’s one is like to share with my teacher friends 🥰📚

This was such a wonderful addition to The Adventures of Kris series! I love that the illustrations are simple yet add a fun flair to the story. I read this with both of my kiddos, ages 8 and 12, and we all had a marvelous adventure! I truly enjoy seeing the character of a single dad in this story as it makes it relatable to kids that feel a little out of place always reading of happy two-parent households. Kris is definitely a strong character and decides she’s going to prove it! She goes on an incredible adventure to save a prince and learns that no matter how strong she is, it’s always helpful to have friends by your side. I enjoyed the life lessons throughout that really started conversations between my kids and me. I highly recommend having this in your library at school or for story time at home!

This was the first book I had picked up by this author, and it was absolutely incredible! Don’t let the higher number of pages put you off because this is a collection of four books altogether. The stories all flow so well in their own way and felt like I breezed right through them all. Each book is focused on a different couple, and each has their own tropes so there’s really something for everyone! I enjoyed all of the characters as their development felt natural and well built. I don’t think I can pick a favorite out of all four because I truly plan on coming back to read them again in the not-so-distant future! There are strong female characters throughout and men to make you swoon (and sometimes yell). This author has left me with such a pleasant book hangover. I can’t wait to see what other amazing books they have! I highly recommend picking this up as it really seems to have something for everyone in the romance world.
Kris and her Dad are each others rock, but when her Dad has a job out of town she is sent to her Grandma’s for a month. Kris believes she is a knight, it doesn’t matter if she is a girl she can be as strong as any knight. When she is is exploring the woods she stumbles upon an elf named Gregory and an experience she could only imagine in her dreams.
Fast paced entertainment. I thin the author captures the spirit of Kris and children will enjoy the exciting adventure she is is on. Very fun.

So much romance. I love. Highly recommend. Rafe and Sarah will they work out the differences and find love. Sam literally runs into Jake who can protect her. But can he really. Serena is trying to save her father. And in the middle of that mobsters and FBI are on her heels. Candy returns to her hometown. Greg wants her he lost her once and doesn’t plan on losing her again.
This book kept me engaged and was a fast read. It is full of twists, turns, deceit, secrets, romance and more. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. Very good book!

I read this book as a stand alone, and did not realize it was part of a series. You could absolutely read this on its own, although it made me so curious and wanting to grab the previous titles to get those stories! This was an amazing read and I loved the story line and chemistry between Everett and Abigail. The story is focused in a school setting with a relationship between the Vice Principal, Everett, and a new teacher, Abigail. The story line was believable and hit close to home because I work in a school. There is fun spice, and banter, but the story itself is just one you don’t want to end. I especially loved the relationship between all the other characters in the book too.

4 stars Rebecca has the ability to transport you into the story where it feels real, has depth and is vividly rich in its telling. A place where you feel right alongside the wonderfully written characters. This is one of the many things she does right with all the stories I have read written by her. It’s funny to me how a book that is set in 1976 is now classified as a historical tale. But I guess at my age now I am just as historic having been born in 1962. Any how I digress. Summer of Mud is a compelling heartfelt and fun coming of age historical YA novel that takes you back in time when life was much different to the world of today. We follow Scoob who has dreams, but those dreams may never come to fruition. Tragedy strikes causing emotional turmoil and Scoob to reevaluate somethings and the importance of Family. The relationship she has with her brother is endearing. This gripping tale had a few twisty turns and had me on the edge of my seat and the ending…. Well, you will have to read it to find out what happens.

This book brings it’s readers a four book series in one and who doesn’t love that!! The more the merrier right? Each story drew me in right from the start and kept me captivated to the finish with great likeable characters, interesting storylines and a few little twists along the way that you may or may not see coming. This is a new author for me and I will definitely be reading more from this talented author.
4 R’s is a compilation of four full stories with each having a strong woman and an alpha man who you will just delve into and have a selection of new book boyfriends to choose from.
Roped Sarah left he life with Rafe when she discovered so things but were they true or false, so she has decided to return and try and help Rafe regain his reputation within the community. So as she lays down the rules of her help there is something bubbling under the surface with them. Can she help him and can this chemistry they feel between them be good or blow up in their faces?
Rescued Samantha can not marry this man, so becoming a runaway bride is the best option she has but there are risks and disasters with this. Thinking she could escape to her families cabin but once she arrives she finds Jake there doing a job for her father. A discussion is had and agreement settled upon but will they be able to keep their hands of each other longer to see the danger in their mist.
Risked Serena’s father is missing due to his new book about the most elusive man Grayson, but when a plan goes wrong and someone gets shot, Serena and her son’s life is in the balance until the FBI assign FBI Agent Mark Riley to her case. When things don’t quite go to plan and Marks thinks she has something to do with it, can they both trust each other enough to get to the bottom of it all and leave their feelings at the door at least for now.
Romanced Candy is back at her high school reunion and wonders why the life she is there until in walks Greg Morris. As they getting chatting is is obvious that he needs her to help him out with his job but Greg creates a offer she can not refuse or a situation she can not remove herself from. So when it comes out that they are engaged (although fake) her world is turned upside down. from nasty interactions with his mom and not wanting to be in this situation, with spending this time with Greg their feelings are becoming more the enemies.
This is the first books I have read by this author and they are wonderful and well written, just enough edge to keep you engaged to the end.
I love how each of the female characters are strong, accomplished and strives to help on each story and not ashamed to show this side to anyone. The male leaders although strong alphas in there own right are a wonderful yang to the female characters and add a layer with the enemies to lovers frustration they have with each and the interactions are just brilliant.
I can’t wait to read more by this author and more in this series.
This book is a well written and interesting historical romance story that really comes to life. As I turned the pages, I was pulled into the mystery surrounding the whole story and couldn’t wait to find out what the author did with the characters. This author is one I am only recently familiar with but I have enjoyed every book I have read so far, with this one being no exception. The historical knowledge really came through in this book for me and I think it added an extra layer to the story. I loved the connection between the characters and I really enjoyed getting to know them. I was drawn into this story right from the start; if this book is any indication for the rest of the series, I am already looking forward to it.

This is the second book in the South Shore Mystery Series. It is the first book that I have read however I will be going back to read the first book as I have enjoyed this so much. This is a really interesting cosy historical mystery. The author has done an incredible job with the research which really brings this story to life and transports the reader to the time period. This story is full of secrets and twists and turns that will keep you guessing who is the actually murderer.
When Colin finds his boss dead one morning there is loads of evidence pointing to his guilt. He was about to be fired, there were disagreements heard by his colleagues. With the evidence pointing to his guilt he is arrested.n Now it’s a race against time for Daniel, the villages assistant coroner and Colin’s sister Kathleen to work together to prove his innocence. Who is responsible for the death of Colin’s boss? Did Colin do it in a drunken rage? And if it wasn’t him then who was it and what secrets will be uncovered when the killer is revealed. I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more in the future.

Come Home to Death I really enjoyed this book and finished it very quickly. It is intriguing and has some twists that I did not expect, which is always nice in a mystery! I was rather frustrated with Erica at times throughout the book, but I believe the author did a very good job conveying her youth/naivety in the storyline. It was annoying to me how she handled (or didn’t handle) her problems and responded to her aunts when they were helping and looking out for her.

Upon finding out that she is about to become a multimillionaire, Erica also discovers some harsh truths about her husband and realizes she doesn’t really know him at all. After some attempts on her life, and her husband’s murder, she finds herself returning back home, a thing she swore she would never do. However, even there the trouble follows her and intensifies. Happy endings and a new love wrap up this book nicely.

Murder on West Main: A South Shore Mystery by I. M. Foster was a really good book! I was hooked throughout the entire book, it kept a decently fast pace and the tone of the book reflected the attitudes of the time very accurately. When a universally disliked man in a small town is unexpectedly found to be the victim of a homicide, there are many suspects, and no one is shedding any tears over the man. Primary suspect, and who found him at the scene, is Colin Brissedon, brother of Kathleen Brissedon who is the love interest of the town physician and coroner- and lead investigator on this case. When Kathleen insists on doing some investigating of her own, things start to get interesting. Intrigue and romance, danger lurking in the shadows, and witty dialogue. This book was a really good read and I loved the historical accuracies and how they were later explained in further depth at the end of the book.

Barbara thought she was in the begging of the next stage of her life only to have it fail fully in heartbreak. At thirty-one she envisioned a different path and she is beginning to question the carefully fabricated life she has lead with her father’s push towards excellence in everything she does. Meeting Sebastian is a breath of fresh air, he is completely different than any man she has met. Barbara begins to open her eyes as a successful black woman she thought she had gained everything on merit, but she couldn’t be more wrong. Everything changes for Barbara and she starts to forge the life she wants for herself which includes Sebastian.
One of the terrific things about this book is the growth in Barbara, reading her transformation was inspiring and thought provoking. The chemistry between Barbara and Sebastian was wonderful. I loved Sebastian’s story as well but Barbara was the stand out for me. Fantastic story.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it certainly will not be the last one. Once I started reading I just could not put it down.
Laramee got call from her parents about selling their farm. They wanted to give her and her brother a chance to take over the ranch if that’s what they chose to do.
As she is driving she runs into Jamie, who is the real estate broker that they have hired to access the property for them.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read another book by her.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in less than two evenings. Once I started I just couldn’t stop reading it.
Dr. Gene Rowland was driving down the road when he witnessed a single car accident. The car in front of him, swerved and ran into a tree. When he pulled over to race to help the victim, he discovered that it was a woman. Later he finds out that he actually went to school with her. It was Amanda. What he doesn’t know is Amanda used to have a crush on him.
She doesn’t want to be admitted to the hospital, so he goes home with her as a Dr. and friend to make sure that she is okay. She also is known by his mother as the Pie Queen.
She insists that she did not see a deer and swerve that it was a young girl who appeared to be afraid of something. No one believes her.
Check out the story and I am sure that you will enjoy it as much as I did.

This is a great trilogy, all brilliant characters, I loved them! They follow the attempted rescue of vineyards in book one then characters featured in book one in the following ones. Really well written in beautiful surroundings, beautifully described. A real page turner!

Kris & The Missing Prince: The Adventures Of Kris by Art Blegen was a cute story book. Following the adventures of Kris, who is a knight in a princess world. When her dad has to go on an extended work trip, Kris gets some time at her grandmothers farm. One day, she ventures deeper into the forest than she ever has before in search of her owl friend. Instead she finds the sometimes brave elf Rodney and discovers the fairy world’s prince is missing. They venture off together to find him, and brave the trials worthy of a knight along the way!

I really enjoyed this series. There was just enough spice and romance but it didn’t overshadow the plot which had quite a bit of action, mystery, and intrigue. In this collection, you get 4 fairly quick reads: Fool’s Gold (Roped), Her Heart’s Desire (Rescued), Serena’s Web (Risked), and It Had To Be You (Romanced). I enjoyed all of these stories; however, my personal favorite was Jake and Samantha’s story in Her Heart’s Desire (Rescued). I appreciate how the FMCs are strong and independent and the MMCs let them be who they are but they are still there when they need them and protect them. There are tropes for everyone throughout these stories. Castle pretty much hits them all within these 4 books. The storyline moves fairly quickly; however, some of the chapters tend to be on the longer side and, for me personally, I like shorter chapters. But, overall, I’d recommend these stories, especially if you are looking for something on the lighter side of romance. Reviewed by @meggs1717
Barbara devastated by finding her fiance cheating has given her wedding venue to one of her best friends. While at the destination wedding she meets Sebastian, former bad boy turned lawyer. Barbara’s parents always told her she had to work harder than her white counterparts to get places in life. Sebastian is a white man, not Barbara’s usual interest.
This isnt the usual genre I read but I figured I would give it a shot. I like Romance but typically read romantacy. This book was more real. It had real scenarios, real feelings, real loss, hurt and pain but also growth, love, and potential happiness. It’s a nice read if you are looking for a romance that is believable, and relatable.

This is an amazing trilogy. I love that each book is in this set. It makes carrying on through the series so much easier and you don’t have to wait for another book. You have them all at your fingertips. This is a historical romance that is set in the 1800’s. I find that I don’t mind historical romance but it isn’t my go to genre. I was no disappointed with this series. I will admit that I didn’t really know anything about Portugal but this book really set the stage for what it would have been like. I feel like the author really kept with the culture of Portugal, which I found I really enjoyed. The characters in each book are completely relatable. There is also enough differences between the stories that you are able to keep each book separate in your mind but they flow as if it is just a continuation of each book. Yes, the books all centered-around different characters but they are all blended so well. Meaning that each book takes you on a journey that is different but familiar. I highly enjoyed reading this series and would recommend it to anyone who just loves a really good romance series. This book is historical but is really relatable so you don’t really get hung up on the historical parts. I really liked that. Reviewed by: @bbohls
