Calamity under the Chandelier is the first book in A Sleuthing Starlet Mystery series by Camilla Blythe. I absolutely admired Cora picking up her life and going to England with her friend Veronica. Veronica, who is big in Hollywood, just eloped with an English earl. She decided to give up stardom and move to England to be with her husband. After Cora is fired from her job, Veronica asks her to come along to help be a buffer with her husband’s disapproving family. What seems like a typical holiday turns into a chilling murder when a chandelier falls and kills someone. Cora is determined to prove Veronica’s innocence, no matter what everyone else thinks. This was a quick afternoon read that left me wanting more. The author does a wonderful job keeping the readers on their toes with suspense. Also, I loved how the story was based during a past era, back when people didn’t fly to Europe but traveled by boat instead.

Calamity under the Chandelier (A Sleuthing Starlet Mystery Book 1) by Camilla Blythe. I Loved this book! This story takes off in the time period of the Flapper era. There are 2 American girls Cora whose career is on a downward spiral& Veronica who has married the son of a Duke, in England during the Christmas season. They find themselves in the midst of a mystery when Cora takes Veronica’s place on a trip. Cora is meant to be on set in Hollywood not in freezing wet England. Now here she is in this big fat mess. The Duke’s family does not like Veronica so Cora has to stay to help protect her friend. When a chandelier falls on someone and kills them at a party its going to take every bit of skill Cora has to keep her friend out of jail. Will Cora find out who the real murderer is before they lock up her best friend? Will her career ever take off again. This was such a fun book to read and it kept you reading until the very end.

The Traveler: Chimera Revolution (The Book of Eleanor 2) by Shannon Nemechek. I loved this book. It begins just where the 1st book left off. It can be read as a standalone but will make much more sense if you read Book 1 first. This story takes you back to 1779 Savannah and you feel like you are actually there in the book. As Katie and Colm enter 1779 Savannah they face all kinds of obstacles including, lies, betrayals, secrets and old enemies. While Katie has to protect the book she is being taught magic. Captain Colm & Katie are swept into danger, mystery and intrigue. This is a super fast paced read and it will keep you on the edge of your seat. Will Katie and Colm keep the book protected and will they all survive this crazy Time Travel?

The Frontman by Lawrence Parlier. This was a new author to me. This genre is a little out of my norm but I was absolutely pulled in by the mystery and thrill of this book!!! I was so engulfed in this book that I could not put it down until I got to the end. The twists and turns will keep you reading and reading fast!!! I found this book to be an amazing story, the book is about the mysterious death of a rock and roll legend…. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, suspense, mystery and a constant flow storyline made this a great book!!! I can not wait to read more by this author!

I liked the idea of the story but I struggled with the delivery. There seemed to be too much filler or may be idle story. I don’t need every second of the day nor do I need overlaps of conversations. With that being said the idea was great and I loved it. The two species getting together and her family not wanting to accept him was good. The addition of turmoil was good but I wish there was more. The ending was cute. Overall an ok story. With more character development and a few other changes and it could shine.

Wow this book had me gripped from the first page and was full of so many twists and turns I didnt see the end coming I’m so gripped I can’t wait to see how the story continues.

Mrs. Shannon has really outdone herself with this book! As this is my first read from her I highly recommend reading book 1. I loved everything about this witty, page-turner. This book follows Katie and Colm on their next adventure.
Katie, a 21st century woman, is thrown back into the past. A past in which she finds love. When she starts learning things; it seems the past isn’t all it seems.
Colm, a Captain,is thrown for a loop when he finds love. He learns that his great great great grandfather isn’t all he was told. He learns things his father didn’t even know.
This is the second book of The Eleanor Books and I highly recommend it. It had me on the edge of my seat and I honestly couldn’t put it down. I would read the first so you aren’t confused with what’s happening.
The Wandering Isles: A Crown of Stones Novella (The Crown of Stones Novella Series Book 1) by C.L. Schneider is dark, mystical and magic. It is a complex and thrilling tale and this new world CL has created is unique and intriguing. Her writing always manages to leave you with vivid scenes that are easily imaginable, and you can see where she takes you. This gripping tale will keep even the keenest reader guessing at each and every turn. This is a standalone novella but I recommend reading the others, so you get the background of the characters and an understanding of who and what they are.

It seemed rather simplistic and predictable in its telling at times. It is a quick and easy read that will keep you occupied for an afternoon. With a cast of so many, things get interesting as everyone is viewed as a possible killer.

This book was so much more than I bargained for! The characters were amazing, even the bad guy’s! The events surrounding Avery, Kerry, and Calliope were described in such detail it made me forget that this isn’t a real story, almost like those moments that make you think this is too weird to make up, haha. The friendships that were formed, strengthened, and torn apart had me reeling. I really enjoyed how this story was told, as each person had their own chance to tell their side to the story, and it came together very well, very few questions not answered in some way or another. There was a lot packed in this one book, by the end I couldn’t put the book down, my emotions were off the charts and some parts were a bit closer to home than I would have liked, but Lawrence executed the delivery spectacularly! I will have to keep my eye out on this author, I can’t wait to see what comes next.

The Wandering Isles by C. L. Schneider is the first novella in the Crown of Stones series, and was a great read! It was so comforting for me to be back in the world with Troy and Jarryd again, but this time on a new adventure. I loved the first three books in the series so much, I was overjoyed when this one came out! This book definitely did not disappoint, and exceeded all the expectations I had for it as well! Completely enthralling, it captured me from the beginning. It was also a quick read, at least in regards to other novels in the series. The synopsis says this can be read a stand-alone novel, and while it can be read that way, it makes much more sense when you read the other three books first! I highly recommend reading not only this novella, but the other books as well!

The Frontman by Lawrence Parlier was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning and couldn’t put it down until I was done.
We start the story with the death of a legendary artist Kerry Vance. He passed away shortly after the first show of his latest tour. Kerry’s friend Avery doesn’t believe that it was a suicide and is determined to found out the truth behind his death.
Avery meets Calliope who is looking for his help. Will Avery help her? Can they find out what really happened to Kerry?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. There were all sorts of unexpected twists and turns. All of the characters added a great element to the story. This is my first read from this author and I loved it. He pulled me right in with his writing. I love the fact that he is a musician himself so he has a lot of great insight to the Rock n’ Roll world. I look forward to reading more from him. 5 Star The Frontman by Lawrence Parlier Wow This was a thousand times better than I expected it to be. This is a Mystery / Thriller that I couldn’t stop reading till I finished. From the very first page till the last I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. Music Legend Kerry Vance is found dead at the beginning of his Tour. The news of his death was pretty shocking to most of his fans. But his friends and Family are not convinced it was an accident. What happens when a Mysterious woman shows up ? Will they get to the bottom of this? You guys this is a must read . I don’t want to give anything away but read it for yourself you won’t regret it I promise . This was my first read by Lawrence Parlier but its definitely not my last. I highly recommend reading this.

This is my second book by Jessica Aiken-Hall. I love the first book and the second didn’t disappoint. These characters leapt off the page just like I expected them too. I loved this book and the author, I can’t get enough. This book picks up where the first book of the series, Boundaries, leaves off. Valerie and Tim are planning their wedding when murders start occurring in the area. So many twists and turns you can’t help but keep reading without putting this book down!

As one of my favorite authors I was excited for this book, then realizing it crossed over into Crystal Rock, well I was so happy! Nick and Emma meet in Bali and after a heated kiss, she goes back home. When an opportunity presents itself, Nick finds himself in her town. I was totally hooked to this story. Lots of things to discover, secrets to reveal and also the heat between these two! I cant wait to read more in this series, they all sound great!
Into the Lions Den is a lovely cozy mystery. Reverend Margot Quade is invited to dinner with a the family of her close friend Daniel, who she served with in the military. The dinner quickly takes a tragic turn when her friend’s uncle is found dead. Margot finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and is left to support the family while the local police are investigating. This is a nice short book with likable characters and an intriguing mystery. It is a good introduction to the series and would recommend to fans of this genre.

I knew this was going to be good when I started it and I was not disappointed. Its part of A Crown Of Stones Series but can be read as a standalone. Its a fast paced read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Its the story of Ian Troy who has given up everything for peace. St. Nick’s Christmas Wish (Holiday Hunks Book 7 – Hot Hunks-Steamy Romance Collection Book) by Tamara Ferguson . Tamara Ferguson is one of my most favorite romance authors so I knew I was going to love this book and I was not wrong! Its the story of Nick Hanover a stockbroker who is on holiday in Bali to get over his recently broken engagement. Nick is sort of hard hearted at this point because growing up he had everything money could buy but he was not the center of his parents eye. His family has tons of secrets and when Nick turned 18 his father shared a lot of those secrets. While Nick is in Bali with his friends they meet a group of girls at a bar and he is drawn to Emma, physically and emotionally. They are both sad that their encounter was so short. Emma is a Stylist in Crystal Rock and during the holiday she runs into Nick again helping with several charity events in town. While they get to know each other better, Emma realizes that Nick just needs to be loved and she thinks she just might be the girl to do it! Will Nick let down his walls from childhood and from being cheated on to let Emma in? Read St. Nick’s Christmas Wish to find out!
Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel (High Tech Crime Solvers #6) by Jacquie Biggar
This is part of The High Tech Crime Solvers Series, but can be read as a stand alone book. This is my first read by Jacquie and I’m in complete awe. The moment I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Jacquie has a way with wording and her characters.
Julie Crenshaw, a reporter, gets wind that there are rapes happening in her hometown. After being in danger once already her boss and boyfriend want what’s best for her. Her safety. The quote I choose for Julie is: “Well, I’ll be better when I can breathe.”
Matt Roy, a cop, has been working his butt off. First, he has to hunt down a killer who was out to hurt others and now he has to find the perp raping women. He is easily frustrated with reporters trying to get one up on him. He has a need to solve this case as it hits a little close to home. The quote I choose for Matt is: “Oh, no you don’t. Go home and wait. Connor will call as soon as we have any information. I mean it, Jules. Go home.”
I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good crime. This has the best of both worlds, romance and suspense. Mrs. Biggar has done an outstanding job bringing these characters to life.
Confidentiality: Scope of Practice-Book 2 By Jessica Aiken-Hall 4 out of 5 stars
I will lead by saying this was almost a full 5 star read! The first ¾ of this book had me missing sleep and squeezing in pages between all of the daily “adulting” I had to do. There were a few chapters that were a bit slow for me but let’s be honest, if you had pulse racing suspense on every page, it wouldn’t be realistic. In my review for the first book in the series, Boundaries, I mentioned Jessica’s memoir and how I was so eager to read the series, feeling I wouldn’t be disappointed based on how much the memoir affected me. I think one of the things I loved the most about this book were the aspects where Val was so similar to the author- her bond with her grandmother, her love of Tom Petty, her empathy for domestic abuse. While I was not entirely surprised by the book’s ending, I didn’t find myself overly disappointed either. Overall I think it was a well written book that was fast paced with relatable characters. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to family and friends.

Calamity under the Chandelier is the opening to Bianca Blythe’s new series called Sleuthing Starlet Mysteries. It is my first foray into Ms Blythe’s universe and as I understand, it is her first mystery story and it takes place in the time period between the two world wars, just when the Flapper Era has ended. I can see that her other series have been taking place in further past so it was interesting to start off knowing that this is her first detective story AND it is in the ‘most recent’ time. We have two American girls in England at Christmas time – Veronica who has married the son of a duke and her friend Cora who has lost her contract with movie studio and decides to take the trip her friend. You can just close your eyes and picture how two American starlets are wreaking havoc in the stiff upper lip crowd! The writer is giving us an interesting view into the upper class of the time when the first rumblings of the discontent are being heard and the next war is just around the corner. There are twists and turns and there are quite a few unpleasant characters there but on the other hand each of them adds something to the story so they pull you in and you lean back and light your ciggie, drink a glass of absinthe and try to solve the murder with Cora. It was great to see how Cora emerged as a confident and brave young woman after meeting her at the beginning as a shy and unsecure girl. I can see that there are 3 more stories in the series so if you take a liking to Cora and her Great English Adventure, then you know you have quite a few hours to look forward to! I am sure that the ‘ride’ also gets smoother the more into the era and the characters we get into!

I was in angle, archangel,nephilim, and demi heaven. I love finding new authors and I love finding new series. This book was definitely a good fit. I really enjoyed the author’s use of the fallen tale. I found that I was totally enticed and drawn into the book and just couldn’t put it down.
I really could relate to Gabriella. I also love the destined/doomed love story that underlies this series. I really felt as though I was right there with the characters. I am interested to see how the prophecy pans out and cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

The Princess and the Pit Bulls by Jody Lynn Daniels is the fourth book in the Fairy Tales Series. I found this book to be a sweet and heartwarming story with loveable characters. This is the exact type of book I look for when I want to forget the world for an afternoon and just immerse myself in a quick read. It had brilliant characters that you know must be about to get their happy ending and a story that really matches that. The book is well written and easily engaging. I would definitely suggest this book to anyone who is wanting a bit of romance.

This was one I was super excited to get my hands on and read. I love crime and thriller novels and I also really have loved Jacquie Biggar’s books that I have read in the past. I have not read all of the previous books in the High-Tech Crime Solvers series before this one and it may be a bit why I felt like this one, Virtually Gone, took awhile to get off the ground and get gripping for me. I am hoping to go back soon and read them and hope that will give me a bit more story to jumpstart this when I reread it.
This book does keep one enthralled once it takes off. I loved Julie and her tenacity to find the answers to the hard questions and is not afraid to put herself into the line of fire if it means saving lives. She is one spunky and determined reporter. I also enjoyed Detective Matthew Roy. He is determined to find the latest serial rapist in his city and will have to face a dark and dangerous past to get close to catching the criminal. I do look forward to seeing what the other books in the series brings and if there will be more in the future as well.
‘St. Nick’s Christmas Wish’ is written by author Tamara Ferguson and is part of the ‘Hot Hunks Steamy Romance Collection’ but can be read as a standalone story. This is another great book by Ferguson, and the storyline and the characters had me hooked from the start. Stockbroker Nick Hanover and stylist Emma Caffrey are both holidaying with friends in Bali when they meet. Getting over a cheating fiancé Nick does not make a great first impression on Emma but the two do share a very heated kiss before the holidays over. However it’s not until they both find themselves back in Crystal Rock that the pair discover if it’s just chemistry they share or something deeper. As well as romance and steamy scenes the storyline also has plenty of drama and when Nick’s half brothers life is in danger family secrets emerge. I loved the main characters, Emma and Nick and how their relationship developed and their obvious chemistry led to some steamy scenes. The secondary characters are also fascinating and I look forward to reading their stories throughout the series. I was cheering Nick and Emma on to their happy ever after.

Historical fiction is not my usual read, but sometimes I like to try out new things. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book after I read a few chapters. I found the period speak cumbersome and it was a bit slow moving. Once the true mystery of it all started, though, I found myself turning the pages to find out how the whole thing played out. The characters and world building were excellent and really brought the story to life. Despite the slow start, and a couple of slow-moving pieces elsewhere in the book, overall, it was a good read.

I was excited to get my hands on this one after I read the first book in the The Book of Eleanor series. The Traveler: Chimera Revolution picks up right off of where book one left off so I would highly recommend that you read it before you read this one. These books are fast paced time travel and fantasy reads. They have a little bit of everything for everyone though and keep the reader engaged from page one till the last. I loved how this one keeps the suspense and drama deep and strong as you read and feel as if you are in Savannah in 1779. I feel as if I do take a time to travel to the locations and can feel the air and ground as I watch and follow along the adventures taking place. I can’t say enough good things about these novels, even though this one takes the favorite place as of now. This is a series you won’t want to miss and will find yourself thinking about and longing for long after the time you finish reading it. I can’t wait to see what the next book will hold and where it will take us!

I have not previously read anything by Camilla Blythe, but the Calamity under the Chandelier, could not have been a better choice for me to be introduced to her writing skills. I was going into this one with the inviting and attention grabbing cover and blurb but that was about it. I expected a fairly easy cozy murder mystery and felt I got a lot more. This was quite the little murder mystery but the underlying and overlapping story lines kept me engrossed and engaged with the characters as I read. The premise may not have been extremely unique but it was written so well I felt as if I was watching a mystery movie unfold as I read.
Cora Clarke wants to be there and support her best friend Veronica who just eloped and is expecting the meet and greet and divulging this information will be a difficult pill to swallow. She travels with her friend to England at a time when her career is also on the fritz. She is supposed to be in Hollywood on set, not stuck in the cold winter of England during a scary and murderous time for the manor they are in. Things get pretty twisted and turned that you don’t see the ending that is coming. I look forward to seeing what else we will get from this series as well. It appears that there is some available and I am gonna dive into one soon!

Two Hearts Unspoken Targets is the eleventh book in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Series(and the extended version of the Two Hearts Unspoken story) by Tamara Ferguson. It is a suspenseful, heart-warming wounded warrior contemporary romance. Elizabeth Owen (Beth) is a single mother of severely autistic son, Kyle. She’s been working as an accountant in a plant, which will be shutting down, due to the economy. So, when Kyle is offered a highly desired placement in a vocational facility in Wisconsin, she readily accepts, and they set off for a new beginning in Crystal Rock. As she and Kyle are driving into their new home town, they are startled when they narrowly avoid hitting a dog that runs across the road. They head to the beach at Dragonfly Pointe, where they get out to go for a walk. Being here brought back happy memories of childhood, for Beth. Zach has recently moved to town to take on a position as the new Administrator for the Wounded Warrior facility. He is also quite taken with Beth when they meet, the Sparks fly and their attraction is undeniable. Zach’s injuries sustained whist in service have left him physically and emotionally scarred, and make him very self-conscious and unsure of himself. He doesn’t think anyone could look at his scars and not be repulsed. The two share an unforgettable kiss, but afterwards Zach seems avoid Beth and is holding back. Beth can’t figure him out. What could he possibly be hiding? Would they get the chance to create something truly magical between them? Add in the suspense and danger from the past, which threatens not only Zach, but Beth and Kyle too- and the story gets quite gripping and suspenseful. I was totally invested in the characters and their story, unable to put the book don until I knew how everything played out. I found this story is really very touching and emotionally charged too. The story is really well written and the characters are fully developed, with a realism that only comes from the pen of a masterful author. Ms. Ferguson gave me a glimpse into the toll that war, injury, and PTSD can have on a soldier- and some of the sacrifices they make in service to their country. She also shone a light on living with autism and how that affects the person, and their loved ones. This wonderful story is all about acceptance and overcoming adversity- with just the right amount of danger, chemistry, and intrigue. Superb!

I loved reading the story Center of Gravity (An Ice Tigers Hockey Romance Book 2) by Isabella Cassazza. It is a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. It is an amazing romance story that had me not wanting to put it down until the final page. I loved the characters of Emilia Ravelli and Matt Walker. They have chemistry together. Will they get a HEA? Read this book to find out. My emotions went up and down the entire time I was reading this story. The story has heartwarming and romantic moments. Some moments had me smiling or laughing out loud. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters who interacted with Emilia and Matt. I enjoyed how the Ice Tigers worked as a team and how they supported each other. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book. I would highly recommend reading it.
