In this novella, Bella’s husband leaves her. She tries to figure out why and then focuses on why its a good thing he left. Opinion The story, to me, was ok. At points it felt like a run on sentence but the premise of the story is something that can be expanded on and made better. It is a prequel so there are more to come. I was certainly more interested in how it ended than the build up.

If you’re a fan of historical fiction, then this is a book for you! I am a huge fan of it, and this story did not disappoint. Vanessa Riventon is on her way home after the death of her guardian uncle. She comes home expecting to run her home and have peace. Instead, she inherits a crazy aunt and her family with a guardian who wants to marry her off. Jacob Southall, Earl of Danville, doesn’t want to mess with taking care of Vanessa, and he plans to marry her swiftly. But what he doesn’t plan for is falling in love with her himself. He is also tasked with finding a spy. Danger swirls around them as people want Vanessa’s wealth and are trying to assassinate Jacob. Fantastic book that is well worth the time to read!

I loved this book so much and it’s gotten me really excited for what is to come next! I thought Bella was such a great character, I really felt for her at the beginning of the novella with everything her husband did and the things she found out but I loved how she turned it around and found herself again. I was really laughing out loud during the last few pages – I may have also said you go girl at one point too! This is a really entertaining novella – Bella the main character is likeable and she has a great set of friend who I hope will feature in the next stories too as they seem so much fun! I definitely hope Joel gets his comeuppance too!

I really enjoy historical romance novels and this one did not disappoint. Add in a paranormal feature with a ghost and I thought it might lose me but I ended up enjoying that too! The writing is very well done and keeps the reader engaged to the point that I didn’t want the story to end.
Vanessa is used to being on her own. She’s been independent for a long time and doesn’t need all the extra hoopla that life can throw. Her life has forever changed though, once she leaves The Academy for Young Ladies. Nothing is how she dreamed it would be.
Lots of suspense and twists and turns in this one to make it an exciting read!

What a sweet read to get ready for the holidays. Emerald Hollow, Oregon was a great backdrop for Holly to visit. I love that her job was to collect Cheer to power the North Pole. The ambiance of the book is that of a holiday time Hallmark Movie – full of love and lessons learned. I loved the elves – both the Keblers and Kringles! The themes of the story hit home to me, right now – finding life balance and where happiness really is in our lives. This is a must read for those who want a good light read that will lift your spirits.

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand Series Book 1) by Nicole E. Kelleher. This is a great fantasy romance. Its set in in the Kingdom of Aurelia and Anna is from Chevring where her family is known for having war horses Anna at 18 marries Roger due to her father basically bartering her to him and at first seems perfectly happy but as time goes on she sees him less and less. She becomes suspicious of his being gone and what he is doing. While he’s not cheating on her he is making choices she would not approve of. Anna becomes happier with Roger gone than when he is home. Anna often thinks of the man she met when she was 16, Larkin. He was gentle and kind and was the kind of man she wanted to marry. Larkin has thought about Anna for years but could never find her. Then he is told that he has to investigate Roger for Treason he finds her again. Will Anna be able to finally find real love and be treated the way she should be? I loved this amazing book!

This is the 3rd book in the Irresistible series but they can be read as a standalone. However after reading this one you will definately want to go back to read the first two books. This book was such an emotional read you will definately need tissues. The author does an amazing job of creating so much chemistry and tension between the two main characters but also showing the reader the confusion, heartbreak, guilt and constant battle they have to go through to not give into their feelings. Brian and Amanda chemistry is electric right from the first time they meet. Little did Brian know that the woman who could be the one is his best friends little sister. After Brian was warned to not mess around with Amanda, they both decide it would be best to remain friends. Brian has never done relationships. He has always been a guy for 1 night stands but when we learn more about his story and the secret he hides from everyone which makes him live every day like his last we can understand why. Amanda is such a sweet character who is a romantic at heart. She feels the power of the attraction between herself and Brian and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and jump right in but Brian keeps pushing her away. Can this couple every overcome the obstacles in their way? Will Brian ever be able to confide in his friends about what is really happening to him? And what happens if they leave it too late to give their feelings for each other a chance? Could they potentially miss out on the love of their lives all because of the risk of spoiling their friendship?
Honestly the writing of this author is so beautiful you feel every emotion between these characters and I was cheering for them all the way, even though at times I wanted to bang their heads together and make them see what was in front of them. Beautiful story, emotional read and chemistry that was off the scale this was a great read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I decided to read this book. I was really hooked on it from the beginning. It starts with an unexpected few scenes and it doesn’t let up. It keeps it going throughout the entire book. It has so many twists and turns that I didn’t know if I was coming or going. It was AMAZING!!! I haven’t had a book keep me on my toes like this one did in a while. This book has so many amazing characters that have been described to the point that you can really picture them. It has so many details in the surroundings. This book paints vivid pictures that your mind can actually conjure what the author is describing. It has parts that had me rushing to the next page to see what is going to happen. If you like historical romance with a twist, I highly suggest reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t want it to end.

This book is the start of a new series. It is an amazingly quick read. If I have one complaint it would be that I didn’t want it to end. I wish it was a little bit longer. It is about how to gain our strength after divorce. Well, that is what I took from it. It has some amazing real life scenarios that is relatable to some readers. Not necessarily the divorce but any break up and rebuilding your confidence. Since this is a quick read I feel that the time spent on the getting over the relationship was given the right amount of length. I love he Bella that main character of this book, after her pity stage, was able to go out there and discover what she was missing. It is a journey into self discovery. I really enjoyed the steam, the sass, the humor, and the story overall. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. This is an author that I have been reading for awhile and I enjoy her writing skills. She uses details to bring her stories to life and have a realistic feel. This book is no different. This is a well written story about breaking down walls. Hadley has put up walls to protect herself and with good reason. Ross is determined to break down these walls. Can he keep her safe from those who want her to keep her secrets? I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. They are connectable and add so much to the entertaining value which makes it easy to read. I enjoyed watching the chemistry and growth of these characters throughout the story. This is a fast paced, engaging, hard to put down story which I highly recommend.

This is a very interesting story with many twists and turns. I like that so the story had me right from the beginning. Stas has many choices and not many that she wants. It’s interesting to follow and see what happens and the outcome. I found the writing perfect for the teen/YA category. They’ll relate well. The characters kept me entertained and I think they’ll be relatable to the younger ones too. It’s a fun mystery to figure out.

Wow, this book blew my socks off. I was excited to see a new story in this series and it so outdid itself. Ross and Hadley’s story is one of big challenges that must be overcome. It’s not a story for those that can’t handle tough topics. Trigger warnings for DV, sexual assault are what I would give. Ross is a man who will protect the women he loves no matter who gets in his way. I loved the writing. I was absolutely engaged the whole time. The characters, such as Kyle and Pete, were secondary yet very supportive. There were also ones such as Cutter who were a surprise. It is well-written and well-researched. It’s another wonderful addition to the series.

5 Stars Beyond Friendship (The Irresistible Series Book 3) by Marlyn Love
Beyond Friendship is the third book in The Irresistible Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance/ Best Friends little sister Romance that I couldn’t put down once I started reading. Going into this book i thought I knew what to expect being this is a best friends sister romance. Well I was wrong on my assumption and what we got was so much more. This is my first book by this author but I’m definitely a fan already. Im definitely going to be looking into the first two books in this series. This authors style of writing and attention to detail along with raw, yet developed and relatable characters make for a wonderful story. I literally felt like I could feel the emotions coming from the characters. What I wasn’t expecting either was the emotional rollercoaster ride but man it was worth the heartache I felt for Brian. This is Brian and Amanda’s story. He has a big secret he keeps hidden. He’s a one and done kinda guy and doesn’t let anyone in. He thought he was not looking for love but boy does that change when she walks into the room.. Amanda is one of those hopeless romantics who wants it all but its come at the worst time. Oh my these two had my emotions on high at times and my heart ached for them. Definitely have some tissues handy as you will definitely need them. Can these two get the happy ending they deserve? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Oh my goodness Blake is having a tough time of late and she deserves a break and some real people and love and happiness she deserves it all !
So Blake is out work at the moment but she’s smart I’m sure Harvard will get her on staff sooner or later 😉 she’s divorced and I say good riddance to bad rubbish , she was told she can’t have children and the house she was staying in just flooded 🫣🤣 I laugh but it’s not because I’m unkind it’s like really what else can go wrong !?
Morgan is a delectable man , he is strong and yummy , a good friend and yummy and a doting father and yummy ( yes he’s yummy 😉😜🤣🥰) he is raising precious Ciara ,9, by himself but he’s in need of a nanny and then he has to deal with Fawn on top it ! I don’t like her and won’t name her again because she’s a waste of space ! Harsh I know but plech she’s awful !
I love how Blake loves her books and languages yet can get down on a child’s level ,she loved Ciara from the first moment as if she were her own and her needs always came first ! At a stage Blake felt like she was loosing herself and often I think as moms and wives feel like that and that says a lot about how dedicated she was in her role as carer Morgan is a lucky man . I love the unexpected blessing that came their way and that their little family grew 🥰
Morgan and Ciara need Blake just as much as she needs them ! She just slots into their family , they were made for each other 🥰 being part of their journey had me laughing , crying , getting angry and just wanting to see them happy . Their story felt real , characters became a part of you 😍

It started right where the previous book ended, almost where it ended, after the major event happened. I love how the author just grabs your attention with the flow of the story. I especially love how she incorporates the minor characters in with the major characters. This book is very hard to put down and it definitely grabs your attention with everything that goes on in the story.

I think this may be my favourite of the series so far. I really enjoyed the story and I love getting to know that characters a little bit more with each story. I actually loved that I learned a little from this story too, it really was a great read. I think what I felt most in this book was a shift in Logan’s character, she really did seem happy and that her life was moving in a more positive direction. I enjoyed the pace of this story it did feel a little slower but equally as exciting to read. Although this is the third book in the series it could be read as a standalone however I would highly recommend that they are read in order just so you can fully understand the back story if the characters. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

After enjoying book 1 in this series I was looking forward to seeing what Logan would be doing in this second book and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author told an exciting, gripping read which kept me turning the pages. Her writing is engaging and exciting. I really like the main character Logan, she just has something about her that makes you like her instantly. I liked the differing POV’s in the book it meant that the story had more depth to it in my opinion. There were a few sensitive topics within the books but I felt he author dealt with them really well and respectfully. I can’t wait to see what happens with Logan in the next book!

I hate to admit this but ai started reading these books around book four or five and then read books one through three. All have been great and all can be read individually without needing to read any of the others. I do however highly suggest reading all of them because you will fall in love with the characters. This is book two of this series and we see Logan dipping her toes back into the dating scene having started a new relationship. On a trip to Portland, Oregon she makes a new friend in Than, a Vietnamese vet trying to get back on his feet and owner of a food truck. When an explosion destroys Than’s truck, he is one if the main suspects. Logan is determined to help get him cleared as a suspect and find the true culprit. This was a really exciting read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a little out of my usual reading comfort zone but it was nice to read something a little different. The pace of the story was really good and the characters were well developed. The book was easy to read and follow. The authors descriptions in the story are pretty vivid so it was quite easy to imagine what was going on – probably not a book to be reading before bed I have to admit! The main character Logan was a likeable and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about her in future books.

Murder At the Wedding is the first book in the Modern Midwife Mysteries series by Christine Knapp. This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her books- but I do love a good cozy mystery, so I took a chance, grabbed myself a copy, and dove right in. What I discovered between the covers is a fun and entertaining cozy mystery with an intriguing storyline, tension, dramatic developments, family dynamics, murder, crime and investigation, a midwife ‘detective’, hospital politics, emotion, and interesting characters. I loved Maeve and her somewhat snarky and sarcastic inner dialogue, and witty banter. She really was the star of the show here and really helped to bring the whole story to life. I would love to see this book/series made into a television series, as Meave would be very entertaining on screen. I loved that the author gave her a bit of an original ‘occupation’, and she wasn’t the ‘typical’ writer, chef, bookstore owner, or wedding planner (etc) that we see so much of in cozy mysteries. I also liked the showing of the pregnancy info, ‘hospital’ workings, snippets of hospital procedure, hospital/workplace politics, and midwife work practices- as this added an extra element of interest to the story. Although saying that, there were a few tense, and/or emotional moments- and I will mention that there are some possible triggers included in the storyline, so consider this before diving in. The author has included sensitive topics in the day-to-day dealings of a midwife, and ‘real-life’ issues- but I think she did so in a mindful and considerate way (topics such as fertility issues, and loss of a baby). Maeve, and the supporting cast of characters are all really well-developed individuals, with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. Ms. Knapp has an eye for detail and her story is wonderfully descriptive, setting the scenes beautifully- painting pictures with her words, and giving everything a ‘visual’ quality. I enjoyed the mystery and the ‘whodunnit’ aspect’ and the complex storyline, and other clever touches Ms. Knapp wove into her story- it made for an engrossing read. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Ms. Knapps work in the future- as well as continuing with this series. Happy Reading…

Logan McKenna is at it again, in this thrilling new adventure in Forest Park, Book 2 of The Logan McKenna Series. She’s moved on to a new job, a new relationship in the making, and is even taking time to vacation in Portland, Oregon. This poor woman must face tragedy once again as a murder takes place while on her vacation. Will Logan be able to clear the name of her new friend, and make it out of this alive, or is the killer after her once again? There are so many pieces to put together to solve this ongoing mystery while enjoying the thrill of the chase to beat the clock. What an amazing read this was, Valerie Davisson just keeps outdoing herself as this series progresses, and so does the intensity of the cases Logan is in dire need of solving. I am officially hooked on this series and am so excited to continue solving these murder mysteries along with our heroine. Shattered is the first book in Valerie Davisson’s The Logan McKenna Series, and it was an amazing mystery, thriller! I was highly impressed with the way that the characters were developed with so much intrigue, they were well-developed and well-rounded in that they are very realistic. I love the setting, the eerie darkness that follows Logan is just chilling. I love that there is a killer on the loose and that we get to help solve the mystery while living the story through Logan’s experiences. The fact that she works so hard to clear Thomas, who won’t even fight for himself, and then having the community come together to help solve this crime is so heartwarming. What a wonderful read, I couldn’t put it down from the second I opened the book. I am a huge fan of mystery books and thrillers, so combining both into a series was awesome!!! This is a must-read for all you book lovers looking for your next adventure of thrills and chills. @Brandy Rymer 10/2023
