Murder on Oak Street by I.M. Foster – Review by Crystal McConnell

Murder on oak streetMurder on oak street by I. M. Foster

Murder on Oak Street is a historical crime novel set in 1904 New York. Dr. Daniel O’Halleran captives the reader as he keeps experiencing setbacks, including being left at the alter. Upon this, he decides it’s time for a change for himself. He’s always had an interest for investigation (and is good at it!) and he starts looking at an old case. As his luck would have it, he soon realizes that this was his very first case and the old feelings of “something’s not right” begin to arise. It’s quite the story and a great start to a series. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author.

If I had a Magic WandIf I had a Magic Wand by Melissa Lavi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If I Had a Magic Wand was such a sweet and sentimental story for babies and kids of all ages. It perfectly puts into words the wishes parents have for their children. The story is whimsical and heartwarming. The illustrations are simple while being incredibly diverse to help relay the story.
My own kids loved the rhyming, easy-flowing story and the magical pictures. This is the perfect baby shower or book shower gift!

Knight in the Museum
By: Alice Bienia

This is a fantastic mystery, with a female heroine. I have to say that I have read no other of the Jorja Knight books before this one and this one definitely stands on its own. BUT I loved it so much that I will definitely be going back to read the other ones. Jorja Knight is a wonderful heroine who uses her PI skills to solve mysteries. This book was full of twists and turns and even contained a twist of a possible curse. I was definitely guessing until the very end. I highly recommend it!

Hot for Teacher by Felicia Carparelli – Review by Amber Howard

Hot for Teacher - Shakespeare Made Us Fall in LoveHot for Teacher – Shakespeare Made Us Fall in Love by Felicia Carparelli
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This story was ok. I believe the premise of the book was decent. Take on forbidden love. Adult student and teacher. Real life Romeo and Juliet reference. However, I found Jim to be a bit pushy. Often times Juliet told him no and he pushed her until he got a yes. Then turn around and claimed he loved her after two weeks of dating. Then gave her an ultimatum about marriage when he couldn’t even be man enough and honest with her about things going on on his life. The on the flip side Juliet wasn’t being honest with him about things going on in her life either and by the end of the story I’m scratching my head like how is this relationship going to work. The story is interesting enough to finish. It’s not awful but it’s not great either.

5*

This book contains three major characters whose stories lead them to the Mansfield Supper Club. It details the decisions and life’s twists and turns that brings them to the Supper Club. Each one is there for different reasons and I have to say I found this book impossible to put down. Their stories collide in one eventful night.
This book is definitely one where it is hard to say any more about it because it is so good that I want to allow everyone to experience its magic for themselves. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book! I cannot recommend that you read this enough.

Soliloquy by Janet Fogg – Review by Betsy Melano

SoliloquySoliloquy by Janet Fogg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A time travel romance book taking place in WWII France which has been occupied by the Nazi’s. One of the main characters Erin, travels back in time through a gift she receives from her late grandmother. At first Erin is not sure where she really is but soon figures it out. Erin must write music and perform it on the piano to keep people and herself safe.

This was an interesting and intriguing book and the author did a wonderful job of describing the locations and characters throughout the book. I enjoyed reading this story not only for the historical and time travel aspect but for the music the intertwined within the story. As a former piano player it was a connection I felt with Erin.

And Then She Fell by Dreena Collins – Review by Stephanie Nicole

And Then She FellAnd Then She Fell by Dreena Collins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was pulled into this book from the beginning. I was originally drawn to this book by the front cover, but once I read the synopsis I I knew I had to read it, and once I started I simply couldn’t put it down. The drama, the suspense, and all of the emotions in this amazing thriller will take you on an emotional Roller coaster ride. The story is original, the characters are perfectly developed and the book as a whole is the best thriller that I’ve read this year. So if you’re looking for your next great read, then make sure you pick this one up today.

Defiant Princess (Mafia Elite Series Prequel) by Amy McKinley – Review by Ayla Eddy

Defiant Princess (Mafia Elite Prequel)Defiant Princess by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Did I click the buy now button without needing any more details other than knowing the author’s name? Sure did! I have more than loved all of the works I have ever read by Amy McKinley. Let me tell ya this book did not let me down. Another amazing story by Amy.

This novella takes place as a stage opener for the series The Mafia Elite. It gives a look into the younger lives of the mafia Princesses that we follow during the main series. It is full of adventures, danger, intrigue, drama, and mystery. Each of the characters draws you in with a way to relate to them in one way or another. Putting the book down is nearly impossible. I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next.

Don’t wait to pick up this prequel to The Mafia Elite series. While you are at it, have the entire main series ready to go next. I read the prequel after the original series, but it didn’t affect any enjoyment from it.
