This is the first book I have read by this author. I will tell you that its very graphic when it comes to describing the scene where someone loses their life. I actually had a hard time getting it into at first because of the graphic description. Which is weird for me, since I tend to enjoy books that get graphic. Detective North (who is retired homicide detective, and now a Private Investigator) has been hired by the victims father to find out who hurt his boy. There are moments that I feel like there should be more description but overall I really like the book. Definitely recommend this book to others who like reading about mystery, murder, mayhem.

I found this book to be so cute and fun! It walks you through a mystery Lunar New Year adventure with Lorie and Weina. The girls have lost their lucky new year red envelopes that they have been saving up to replace a bracelet for their grandma. This book keeps you on your toes while you follow the girls along their day and also trying to find said missing envelopes. I loved seeing another side of Asian American culture and the different things that they do/celebrate compared to my own family. This book had my children hooked while we followed the girls back through their day. The traditions and holiday excitement was so fun. I really enjoyed the simple illustrations as well. My girls 9 and 12 both enjoyed reading this book with me and learning about others. It also lined up with their cultural days at school so they learned so much this week!

Hay Goes Home is Book Four in The Adventures of Cray Series. It is a children’s book told in rhymes that follows the adventures of Cray the Crab and his friends. On his latest adventure Cray is going with his friend Hay the Fox to Hay’s mom’s birthday party. To get there they need to travel through the woods, cross the river, and get through overgrown shrubs. They must overcome numerous obstacles along the way but thankfully they meet some new friends who help them. A beautiful story that teaches important lessons about friendship, teamwork, perseverance, courage, and the importance of asking for help. The bright and colorful illustrations really bring the story to life.

This book was so funny and steamy! Let me first say, that I haven’t read the others in the series, but I still loved the book and can’t wait to grab the others!! This book made me laugh a few times out loud! The glitter comment being one! I might have even talked a friend into reading this series over that conversation!! Basil wakes up to find herself a vampire. Only problem is that she is a vegan and she doesn’t eat anything that had/has a mother. Not so good for a newly made vampire. Luckily she formulates a plan very quickly. She makes a serum that helps with the hunger, she buys a store with an upstairs apartment, and she leaves town. She moves to Silver Springs. A heavily supernatural town. She opens up a smoothie juice bar with a tanning salon. Opening night is a big hit. Her life has been a world wind of changes and the biggest one yet is all the men! Has she found her mate? And what is a mate? She is so new to EVERYTHING that she needs to do some research! Unfortunately, she’s kidnapped and no one knows by whom! Such a great story! Like I said, I can’t wait to read the others in the set! You can read it as a stand alone, but trust me, you will be just like me running to get the others! If you love a good supernatural romantic comedy with lots of angst, banter, and some steamy parts then this one is for you!

Nessie and the Celtic Maze is Book Three in the Nessie’s Grotto series. This delightful children’s chapter book continues the adventures of siblings Craig and Linda, and Nessie, The Loch Ness Monster. Craig and Linda’s parents have taken them to Canada so they can be far away from Nessie. However, when the children learn that Nessie’s daughter, Princess Sheona is in trouble, they know they must find a way to save her. Luckily, there is a secret underwater passage that goes from Canada to Loch Ness. On the other side, in Scotland, is a young lad named Angus who is also trying to help Princess Sheona. Encouraged and supported by his mom, Angus learns to be brave. A cute story with whimsy, magic, mystery, adventure, and fun. A great addition to this series.

The Reluctant Spy is a children’s chapter book full of mystery, suspense, excitement, a mad scientist, a rat trainer, and mysterious earthquakes. The story centers around Timmy, his grandma, and their pet rat named Hildegarde who is smarter than the average rat. Timmy and his grandma set out to uncover what is causing mysterious earthquakes in their small town. The adventure sees Timmy setting Hildegarde off to the mad scientist’s house outfitted with special spy gear. Hildegarde might be the only one who is able to find out the truth. The story is fun, entertaining and enjoyable with a mix of quirky characters added throughout. Timmy and Hildegarde have a special bond even though he was uncertain about having a rat in the house in the first place. Grandma is quite an interesting character with her sense of humor and witty attitude. An enjoyable read.

Craig and Linda are on vacation again. Yaayy!! When Jacques has the kids coming with him on the fishing boat, Craig and Linda’s parents worry after their last adventure. They don’t want the kids seeing or talking about any monsters. Well this time Nessie needs there help to rescue Princess Sheona. She got trapped in the maze by a bunch of boulders. Craig and Linda do what they know best. Help Nessie!<br />This book was really good and a super fun little adventure.

Cray was so excited to be going to a birthday party!! It is Fox Hay’s mamma’s birthday high up in the mountains. It would be a long trip, but also an adventure! They saw animals of all kinds, plants high and low, and they even needed help along the way. It can be scary facing new things, but you can still be brave. Asking for help when needed can make adventures less stressful. This book was so cute!! If helps younger kids build courage through out different obstacles they may come across in life. Being scared and facing those fears. I think that this book is wonderful for kids, BUT it is also great for adults to read too. The tips in the back are so helpful and I encourage adults to read this one!!

This book hit me on a few levels. It was so adorable first of all! Talk about second chances after kids! And not only second chances but honestly true first loves. This story is about Bailey and Fox. Their story is electric! Fox has become a CEO of a company that Bailey has worked for, for quite some time. She has worked her way up the ladder so to speak. Finally becoming VP in her department! After her husband passing away, it has taken a lot of time to get passed some things. But by chance her and CEO Fox, end up on a plane ride together and hit it off. It’s like they are old friends. Talking about everything. Anything! Finding common ground in so many ways! Both single parents. Trying to navigate the corporate world, but also be mom AND dad at the same time. Kids are a job in themselves. They need to eat right. Get outside and off their devices! Spend time with what family they have. And most impotently be supported by their parent! Right? Fox isn’t your typical CEO. He was brought in to fix issues and he sole focus it his kids and doing just that. Turning the company around will take a lot of focus. Does he have time for anything else? I found the characters so relatable. The author hooks you in with both of their stories that will put you into some emotions!! You can’t help by feel for all of them! The kids and the trauma the adults have fought through! Defiantly a cute romantic must read!

Dancing Butterfly is Book Two in the Butterflies Fly Free Series. It is a historical romance set in the 1920’s and full of action, suspense, mystery, drama, intrigue, passion, dancers, gangsters, and love. The story centers around the characters of Suki and Frank and is told from each of their POV. Suki, AKA Susan, is a dancer trying to make money to pay her rent. She is strong, fiercely independent and used to only having herself to rely on when times got tough. Frank is one of Al Capone’s right-hand men that Suki finds herself attracted to, but she is uncertain what to do with that attraction. As fate would have it, Suki and Frank are thrown together when gunfire opens in the club Suki is dancing at. When she tries to escape through the underground tunnels, she becomes injured and must rely on Frank for help. With her injured foot she is unable to dance so Frank makes her his girl and vows to protect her at all costs. The chemistry between them is undeniable and Suki finds herself uncertain where their relationship is going or if they have a future together. The author did a great job of pulling me into the story with the descriptive scenes. I felt as though I was there in the 1920’s, alongside Al Capone, the gangsters, and the dancers. I could vividly see the dresses, hear gunfire, and feel the chemistry between Suki and Frank. A great read and I look forward to Book Three.

This has been one of my favorite series to read. The concept of getting another mate after the one you were lifemated with was really interesting. Cricket is a fiercely independent single momma that was settled into her thinking she would be alone forever now, then BAM, here comes the pull. Boone is trying to avoid his cousin, Sheridan, the bikini-clad wildcat that always needs her jeeps repaired when his pull comes. He takes his leave and follows his pull. I find that amazing because they take such faith and go (yes, it’s just fiction but still). When these two meet up, the chemistry and sparks are there, he just has to get her to accept. I loved reading this story. These prides are full of personality. The elders that the characters talk to are wonderful and wise. When Cricket takes her little one out for a run, I couldn’t help but think of a certain movie. It’s a bittersweet romance that comes with a happy ending that has beautiful characters and always brings a smile and chuckle. I’ll be eagerly awaiting Afton’s turn.

Oh my gosh where do I start? Wyatt is a football player wanting to go to nationals. Him and his football buddies are at a bar, when Wyatt runs into Piper. Piper does not want any commitments. Wyatt and Piper hook up and Wyatt is not pushy at all with Piper and her boundaries. Piper has had to raise her sister as their parents were pretty much absent, and very toxic. Why Piper just kept the relationship with her parents I don’t get because that relationship hurt my heart for her! And when Pippa decides to try and crush her sister’s heart AGAIN!! Oh I was raging!! Wyatt and Piper have gone through the wringer and they always come back stronger than ever. Wyatt was always so so patient with Piper. She would second guess herself. She would go radio silent, do everything to wreck the relationship and Wyatt just wasn’t having any of it.<br />This was such an amazing book. Had me in tears laughing or in tears because of the toxic relationships Piper has had to go through.<br />

I wasn’t sure what to think when I decided to read this book. I wasn’t sure how the characters were going to relate and if this would be a hidden love affair. This one did not disappoint. I love the fact that the main female character has a career and isn’t shown as some needy girl. That made me want to keep turning the pages and finding out more about her. I also enjoyed the fact that she is mom. That isn’t something that we typically see in romance books. The main male character is also a single dad. This story just melted my heart. I love, love and this book had so much love between them. They had a spark and took a chance. It is such a sweet romance story. It kept me turning page after page because I just fell for the characters. This is a quick read and definitely worth it. I feel that this a true classic romance story that definitely hits different. I can’t wait to read more from this author. If this book is anything to go off of, I am a fan.

What a neat children’s story. It tells about the custom of the Red Envelopes that is part of the Lunar New Year. The illustrations are pretty. I found it was a neat way to teach a child about other cultures. I read this to my granddaughter and she really enjoyed it. She loved the story so much that I’ll be getting a paper copy for our family library.

This was one of those emotional stories that made you want to have tissue nearby. Rose heads home to help care for her mom after an injury takes her out of work for a bit. While taking care of her mom, she finds some family secrets. Though her mom and Aunt discourage her to leave it alone, Rose in an investigative journalist. She has to find the truth. This is a beautiful story, even if the truth brought pain. I found the characters to feel so real that my hurt truly hurt for them. I would get so mad, yet could understand the pain her brother felt. Rose just had her own surgery yet came down and was doing care for her mom. She had a lot on her plate. So many emotions with this story. You’ll really have to read it to understand. It’s up there at the top of my list of favorites for 2024. The writing pulls you in. You feel it.

Treasure Hunt is Book Four in the Grandma’s Closet Series. It is a delightful children’s book that follows the adventures of a young girl named Carrie. When a potted plant arrives from the florist on Carrie’s doorstep the care instructions say to Dowse the plant. Carrie remembers that one of the boxes left in the closet when Grandma moved across town was labelled Dowse. She goes to the closet and inside the box finds two dousing rods which she uses to try to find treasure. What Carrie finds in her adventure is far more valuable than water or buried treasure. A great book with an important underlying message about what is truly important in life. I love how the author can take a simple story and make it whimsical, fun, and entertaining for children while also conveying important messages and lessons. The illustrations are colorful and really bring the story to life.

The Rise of House Valdis is the first book in The House Valdis Series. It is an urban fantasy, paranormal romance with action, danger, sci-fi elements, superpowers, shifters, vampires, and aliens. The story centers around the MC of Xenobia, an alien, trying to fit in and seem normal. Xen has a heart of gold but will do anything to protect those she loves even if it means exposing her powers and who she really is. She is a character that you find yourself rooting for and feeling a connection with because of her empathy, compassion, and kindness. Make no mistake though, Xen is strong, feisty, and will fiercely protect those she loves. This book had me hooked from the first the few pages due to the author’s unique writing style and great world building. Looking forward to the next book!

Savage Truth is the second book in The Hidden Valley Elite series.

This book continues with Riley and Cole and their love and hate relationship. A lot gets unpacked in this book, and the author does a good job of unpacking it and bringing it all out to where you can’t put the book down. Riley finally gets the truth about her biological father, who is not a nice guy and gets to lay this part of her life to rest. Now on to college!

Beach Ball Blunder is Book Three in The Adventures of Cray on the Bay Series. It is a children’s book that follows the beach adventures of Cray the Crab and his friends, Hay the Fox, Ray the Seagull, Fay the Turtle, and in this newest adventure Gray the Seal. Told in rhymes the book tells the story of Seal Gray who is on the beach playing with his beach ball when it suddenly spins out of control causing chaos along the way. Gray sees the damage that the ball has done as it crushes his friend’s sandcastle, knocks an ice cream cone out of a child’s hand, and almost hits his friends as it bounces along the beach. He decides to lie and say the ball was not his because he feels so guilty about what has happened. Afterwards, Seal Gray is overwhelmed by guilt and sadness, so he goes to his friends and confesses that it was him and his ball. His friends are understanding, and Cray the Crab explains that lying is harmful. The friends then work together to clean up the mess along the beach. This was a wonderfully written book with cute rhymes and colorful illustrations that conveyed important messages about friendship, forgiveness, kindness, and responsibility for one’s own actions. A must read for both young and old alike.

This is an amazing story that feels like it just flows off the pages and keeps you turning them until the book is done. It is a great read that was very quick for me. I am normally not one that gravitates towards sports romances but this book was really well done. I feel like you didn’t just get sports or romance, you got a really good blend of both. This book is written in dual POV which allows the characters to have a great banter between them and really allows the reader to be able to get caught up in them. I love when you feel like you want to be friends with the characters and I definitely do with this book. There is angst, steam, love, banter, just super cute things in this book that make you swoon. The author has a way with words that just makes you feel completely immersed into the story line. I highly enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Let me begin by saying that you can read this as a standalone or in order of the series. I recommend reading it in order because knowing the back story of the Bennett family will help a lot. Now let’s get started with this review. Fearless Love is the final installment to the most beautiful and touching romance series I have ever read. This is James and Sara’s story. The best way to sum it all up is two broken hearts brought together by whatever you want to call it. He’s a tender spirit that knows what he wants and is so loving and compassionate. He shows Sara what life can be like with the right man to love her and her son, Noah. Sara is independent and protective of her son. She learns that its okay to let someone in again. She learns to heal in many ways. Watching these two heal and come together and become a family, small and large, left me feeling so many emotions. Sara’s job as a traveling nurse brought her to the farm to help Ray recover from his health crisis in a previous book, I prefer to think fate brought them together for her own purpose. This author is one of my favorites. Her writing is tender, compassionate, romantic, and realistic. The Bennetts have always felt like they could be part of my community. This author has done a fantastic job of tying up the series. This author has done a wonderful job of making her readers feel that the Bennetts have been part of your family. Excellent story. Once I was pulled into Drake and Findlay’s story, I was all in. It’s full of action, romance, suspense, and drama. I could not put it down. I loved the breath-holding moments that had you waiting to see what was coming. The topic of human trafficking has made for some amazing stories and this author did a fantastic job with it. I really hope we get a story about Seb and Alexis. I think there could be something there, just saying. This is a book that will have you so sucked in that you’ll feel you are part of the story. The cast of characters is so well0developed. They feel so relatable and just real. I highly recommend this.

I found this to be an interesting read. Historical romance is not usually my genre. I chose this one because I thought the story sounded promising. It lived up to my expectations. Payden and Robbie returned from a troubling stint abroad. Payden was basically dealing with what we in the modern times call PTSD. He had a tough time adjusting to his home life again. Clarice brought some hope to his life again. Reading about their romance and how they adjusted and worked things out was heartwarming and good to read. This a wonderful romance and I’d recommend it anyone to give it a shot. I really enjoyed the characters, they made the story.

This was my first PolyAm Fam book and I am so glad that I gave it a chance! I really enjoyed the story and characters. It was witty and adorable, but also tense and informative. In this book Molly lives with a polycule and is completing her grad school thesis project. A play she wrote is to be cast and shown for a weekend, for her to pass and graduate the program. Thankfully her girlfriend finds that PERFECT guy for her leading male role! Lachlan is even a Scotsman!! Which is perfect since the man in her play is a kilt-wearing Scot! Talk about luck right? Wrong. Unfortunately, even though he looks and sounds the part, he knows absolutely NOTHING about acting and being in a play. Molly is determined to make it work. Lachlan gets roped into helping which he doesn’t mind one bit. He thinks that Molly is cute, curvy, smart, and it doesn’t hurt that she likes his sexy scot accent. Molly starts giving him lessons, but she worries about their attraction to one another. Her polycule pushes her to find out what’s there, but she’s had a line of bad luck when it comes to dating males. Lachlan finds her whole arrangement very odd. Molly has a girlfriend after all. How can he date someone who is already taken, especially because he doesn’t normally date. Maybe a fling is both what they need. After the play they can do their separate ways right. But what about Molly’s girlfriend? Will she be okay with any of this?? Read the book to follow this funny, cute, sassy story!! You will fall in love with the characters and their world. I loved getting a glimpse into a polycule and learning more about their family. If that is the reason you are on the fence about this book, I have to tell you to just give it a chance!! It was a wonderful book!

This book gives you a different perspective on the lives of people that society deems as not normal. Their home seems like a very loving home where the dynamic between the characters works perfectly. I will say without giving too much away, these characters are anything but vanilla. Great first book to this series and I can not wait to read book two. I highly recommend this series.

This book is a really quick read and it had me sunk into it from the beginning. I would say that this author seems to actually really love hockey or did an amazing job with their research. I actually really loved that it wasn’t just about the romance and the pull and tug between battling feelings for one another, it actually had hockey it in. That said the romance in this book is great. Yes, I did roll my eyes a bunch during this book because of the constant, “I want him/her, I don’t want to want him/her.” You get so invested into this book because you want them to work and get over their things to be together because you can see how good they are together. It’s like everyone in the room can feel their tension when they are together and are just rooting for them. I could not put this book down, even as frustrated I got with it. That just means it is a really well written if I am so emotionally involved in what is happening. If you like hockey or love a sports romance, this book won’t disappoint.
