Valerie Davisson has done it again! She has written another great book in the Logan McKenna Series! This is a full-length story filled with its fair share of mystery and crime, and it’s one you won’t want to miss reading. If you have never read any of the Logan McKenna Series, I recommend you go back and read in order to keep caught up and to be ready for this one.
Logan is engaged! Logan and Ben are about to start a new journey to their lives together, but she feels like she needs a place to get away and have some r&r before her big day……little does she know, that isn’t in the cards for her. Logan travels to Oregon to visit friends, and she finds much more than she could have ever anticipated! This is where the story starts to take a turn and gets really good! I mean what do you expect when there’s a dead body, mystery, suspense, friends and family?! All of this makes for a page turning story! Can Logan find the answers, catch the true suspect and solve the mystery, or will Logan fail in her mission to solve the crime that is at hand? There’s only one way to find out, and that is to get a copy of the book and read it for yourself!

This is book 2 of the series and I would recommend reading them in sequence. Once again I was not disappointed at all! Detective Cade is comparable to the Will Trent series an I think these books would make a great tv show. I like how the story continues from book one with just a new series of murders. I can’t wait for the next book.

This was a good book of the genre. I liked the hero a lot and felt that he played the game well. This book followed the formula of the genre and had some hidden plot points. The drawback for me what the amount of characters. I would read others by the author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I adore novels that are not only attention grabbing, but ones that are relevant or you learn something from. This novel does just that. This author writes the contemporary suspense well and the characters are thoroughly detailed. I really enjoyed the mystery, intrigue and suspense. This book starts off a little slow but once it kicks into high gear there is no putting it down as every twist and turn will have you needing more.

The Last Cabin GirlThe Last Cabin Girl by Tom Swyers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh …..my …., word !!!!! There were so many goosebumps and not enough space on my body 🤣that says a lot because I’m not a small girl !!!

This was my first Tom Sayers and it MOST DEFINITELY won’t be my last! He has this way of hooking you up and reeling you in and you just hand on every literal word ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So Josie is a mother of 2 , divorcing her narcissistic drug dealing abusive husband and he’s really not a nice man so just to add to her woes is a pandemic and a murder charge ! Sheez Louise cut the girl a break ….

Ok so the town and its folk are not what they seem and I feel so many emotions for poor Josie and time is of the essence because she has her kids to protect ….

Very relatable regarding Covid 19 and peoples reactions , opinions and fears . A gripping twisted read with unexpected end … a definite TBR ( to be recommended)

Grace is one of the best characters I’ve read in a while! I love her sarcasm and wit, she is strong minded and completely relatable. The author wrote amazingly to bring Grace, her story, and her world to life. A true page turner, I read the whole book in two nights. One of the best crime stories I’ve read in a while!

House in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Felicia Bates

House in the WoodsHouse in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are a handful of authors that I don’t even care what their book synopsis says, I know I am reading the book regardless. Jessica Aiken Hall is definitely one of those authors. I found myself intrigued by House in the Woods from the very start but one of my favorite aspects that truly sucked me in was how she tied Tom Petty into the book. From reading this author in the past, I remember how much Tom Petty and his music had made an impact on her life and I really appreciated that it was woven subtly into the storyline pretty quickly. As a NH girl, I love reading books set in towns or states that are local to me, and the fact that the author lives in my home state also earns bonus points. I struggle to talk about the actual book and storyline. The imagery is dark and realistic, I could see the story in mind’s eye as it unraveled and the characters were realistic and even relatable. The storyline flowed from start to finish and it was a ride.
5 glowing stars for Jessica Aiken-Hall and House in the Woods. Once again, looking forward to more from this author.

I’m a sucker for a good thriller so I was really excited to find a new to me author that not only promises to deliver a thrilling story, but introduces me to a new series as well.
The synopsis of Dig Two Graves had my curiosity immediately, the story itself took a bit for me to warm up to. When all is said and done, I feel like Keith Nixon did a fantastic job with crafting an exciting storyline with really strong, complex characters.
Keith Nixon was able to present a plot with several dark issues without overdoing it in a fast paced, entertaining manner. This is an author I really am looking forward to reading more of, I will continue on with this series!

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1) by Keith Nixon – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves is the first book in the Gripping Crime Thriller (aka Solomon Gray) series by Keith Nixon. It was my first book I have read of his, but he won me over as a fan. I love crime thrillers and this book fit that without being too gruesome. It kept me engaged start to finish and I didn’t want to put it down. I didn’t expect things go the way they did, and the murderers were a shock. The last pages left me hooked for book 2. Solomon Gray has to have the saddest history of any book character I’ve read, but he still has that drive and desire to solve his son’s disappearance. He isn’t the strongest of characters for a main character, but the story itself was enough to keep me hooked and wanting to keep going. I will continue reading, because I want to know what happened to Sol’s son 10 years ago. Although, I’m left wondering about the title, since there were more than 2 murders in the story.

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray #1) by Keith Nixon – Review by Jana Teppih

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves is the opening chapter of Keith Nixon’s Detective Solomon Gray series. It is an opening that will haunt you for days and makes you to reach for the next story in the series. I love series where there is one red line that runs through all the books while each book has its own ‘story’ as well! Add to this the location – once grand town of Margate in the south of England – and you are gone … gone for Detective Solomon Gray and his personal story!
Dig Two Graves introduces us to Detective Gray and gives us his story, the disappearance of his six year old son, his never-ending search and his daily work as a Detective … this story revolves around a world of abuse, corruption, lies … it is the world where you do not know who is telling the truth and who is lying… there seems to be no end to depravity of the man …
It is a dark ride that the writer is taking us, be prepared to suffer and rage with Solomon … you will feel broken and lost and you will give up and you are so wary that you no longer want to continue on the road to redemption … there is no end in sight …
It is the best of the contemporary British crime stories and I can only hope that someone would pick up the series and create something that is in the same league with Broadchurch … (what is there in the south of England that brings out the worst in the man?). I cannot wait to continue walking alongside Detective Gray!

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1) by Keith Nixon – Review by Erica Fish

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever read a story and the hair sticks up on your neck? I can testify that Dig Two Graces by Keith Nixon has done that to me. This is my first book by Mr. Nixon, and it will not be my last. Mr. Nixon can spin an intricate web that kept me on my toes. The character is fully developed and believable. Mr. Gray is a troubled detective. He lost his son when he was six (and by lost, I mean taken from him). Every time there is a murder with a child close to his son’s age, he gets queasy thinking that it may be his son. There has been a teenage boy that committed suicide and he did not want to take the case just in case it in fact was his son. The story progresses from there and skeletons from Gray’s closet start coming out and there is a whirlwind surrounding the investigation. Will Gray be able to continue with this case? Will the past come back to haunt him? You will have to read to find out more.

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1)
By Keith Nixon

This book grabbed me from the beginning and kept me enthralled the entire time. Gray has experienced a tremendous amount of tragedy and has turned to alcohol and pills to try to numb the pain. While investigating what was originally thought to be a suicide, murders keep happening and the common denominator is Gray himself. There are twists and turns that kept a grip on me and I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next or who was causing these murders. This was a very good read, I was on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next one in this series.

Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1) by Keith Dixon – Review by Tracy Wilkin

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves is book one  in the Solomon Gray series by Keith Dixon. I have not read this author’s work before, and boy was I missing out!! I cannot remember the last time I read a crime thriller, and I now remember why I love this genre.

Solomon Gray has had an incredibly chaotic and traumatic life. Unimaginable horror becomes his constant companion. Horror that would bring most men to their knees. Not Gray. He carries scars, but keeps them hidden well. His endurance is unfathomable, his courage immeasurable. He is driven to discover the truth and solve murder mysteries. He relentlessly seeks justice and makes no apologies if he upsets people along the way. The victims don’t have a voice anymore, so he won’t stop until their stories have endings.

I admired this character immensely. His struggles were brutal and heartfelt. I was totally taken with his story and was quite shocked at how much this book touched me. I have not read a book that wasn’t a romance for years, and I am so glad I got back into crime thrillers with this title. Suspense that was total intense anticipation. A master storyteller is Keith Dixon. 5 stars.

Dig Two Graves (Solomon Gray, #1)Dig Two Graves
By: Keith Nixon
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1) by Keith Nixon was a heart pounding thriller that had me hooked.

My first read by this author and for this series. I have to say I was hooked right away, and I didn’t stop reading until the last page was flipped.

Richly detailed, and emotional, this book will take you on a raw heart clutching ride, from a murder mystery to our MC’s going through the memories of the days following and losing his son. Detective Solomon is a solid character and extremely well rounded and multi layered. Not a perfect person, the flaws make him relatable and realistic.

Having such a strong MC, mixed with an equally as strong and solid plot, you have the perfect storm of books. I was engrossed and absorbed into this book, and frankly I didn’t want it to end. Full of twist turns and misdirections, you will not be bored. This book holds your attention, there is no filler or lulls.

So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that this book is worth your time and energy, and I swear you will not be able to put it down.

Happy Reading

Dig Two Graves was an emotional thriller that I could not put down. It begins with the disappearance of the main characters son which really tugged at my heart strings. Solomon aka Sol became a completely different man after that. He also had to deal with many other losses. This case follows a possible suicide of a boy who was very similar to Sol’s son. I did not expect the twists that occurred. I was shocked with the outcome. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1)Dig Two Graves by Keith Nixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dig Two Graves (Detective Solomon Gray #1) by Keith Nixon is a raw and dark read but that
is what all the best crime fictions stories are about, right? Add in a cop who has not only
witnessed the worst humanity has to offer but he has had to live through several of the most
tragic and horrific times of his life. Cynical – absolutely. Damaged – you bet ya. Barely
functioning – oh yeah. Keith has woven a magical yet complex thriller where the main
character is complex and broken and everything around him goes from bad to worse and the
intricate plot is a mystery until the very end. The emotions in this book weigh heavily and will
have you all over the place.
The story jumps back and forth from the past to the present as we journey along with the
memories of what was and today as Sol tries to go on with his life. The story is one I couldn’t
put down and had me on the edge of my seat.
Sol is a man who is struggling with a past that will forever haunt him and a job that is a
constant reminder. A life that is empty and cold. I life where there is nothing makes sense.
Dig Two Graves is a must read and will keep you guessing to the very end which will
surprise the heck out of you.

The story Dig Two Graves: A Gripping Crime Thriller (Solomon Gray Book 1) by Keith Nixon is a thrilling mystery book. It is a story that hooks you in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It had me turning pages in suspense wondering what was going to happen next. The book moves at a fast pace. While reading you can’t help but wonder just who is the one responsible for the homicides that are occurring. I felt like I was trying to put together a puzzle. I enjoyed reading about the main character of Detective Sergeant Solomon Gray. He is a man that lost his son. He feels the guilt that he was there and couldn’t stop it. Not knowing if your child is just missing or dead is very trying on a parent and Gray doesn’t always make the best choices when trying to calm his mind and numb the pain. When he is called to the scene of a teenager who has died, Gray can’t help but realize the boy would be the same age as his son. What begins next is an investigation that will lead Gray down dark paths. Will Gray find the shooter of Reverend David Hill and of the other bodies that are now piling up? Read this book to find out. There are many additional characters that you are introduced to in this story. While many of them are workmates there are also those who have their own agenda and I found myself wondering who they really were. Full of drama and suspense this is a book that you don’t want to miss out on. Highly recommended reading. It is the first story in a series and I look forward to reading the next one.

I love that I was pulled into the story with ease and I had no problem reading this book in one sitting. Detective Gray is haunted by the abduction of his son. He responds to a suicide that reminds him of his son. When bodies start piling up, the only common thing is him. I felt compassion for him, he lost everything all he has is his job, love him. When teenager Nick Buckingham tumbles from the fifth floor of an apartment block, Detective Sergeant Solomon Gray answers the call with a sick feeling in his stomach. The victim was just a kid, sixteen years old. And the exact age the detective’s son was, the son Gray has not seen since he went missing at a funfair ten years ago. Each case involving children haunts Gray with the reminder that his son may still be out there – or worse, dead. The seemingly open and shut case of suicide twists into a darker discovery. Buckingham and Gray have never met, so why is Gray’s number on the dead teenager’s mobile phone?

Gray begins to unravel a murky world of abuse, lies, and corruption. And when the body of Reverend David Hill is found shot to death in the vestry of Gray’s old church, Gray wonders how far the depravity stretches and who might be next. Nothing seems connected, and yet there is one common thread: Detective Sergeant Solomon Gray, himself. As the bodies pile up, Gray must face his own demons and his son’s abduction.

Crippled by loss Gray takes the first step on the long road of redemption. But is the killer closer to home than he realised?

Set in the once grand town of Margate in the south of England, the now broken and depressed seaside resort becomes its own character in this dark police suspense thriller, perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart MacBride, and Peter James.

Dig Two Graves is the first in the Solomon Gray series. Pick it up now to discover whether Gray finds his son in this thrilling new crime series.
