House in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Felicia Bates

House in the WoodsHouse in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are a handful of authors that I don’t even care what their book synopsis says, I know I am reading the book regardless. Jessica Aiken Hall is definitely one of those authors. I found myself intrigued by House in the Woods from the very start but one of my favorite aspects that truly sucked me in was how she tied Tom Petty into the book. From reading this author in the past, I remember how much Tom Petty and his music had made an impact on her life and I really appreciated that it was woven subtly into the storyline pretty quickly. As a NH girl, I love reading books set in towns or states that are local to me, and the fact that the author lives in my home state also earns bonus points. I struggle to talk about the actual book and storyline. The imagery is dark and realistic, I could see the story in mind’s eye as it unraveled and the characters were realistic and even relatable. The storyline flowed from start to finish and it was a ride.
5 glowing stars for Jessica Aiken-Hall and House in the Woods. Once again, looking forward to more from this author.
