I, Girl X: a novel in verse by Annalise Grey – Review by Jenni Bishop

I, Girl XI, Girl X by Annalise Grey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I, Girl X: a novel in verse by Annalise Grey is a powerfully emotional very very short story. I have had several bouts of depression and PTSD and found I could relate to some of the emotions our main character is feeling. It really struck a chord with me.

Carleigh finds herself where she is overwhelmed by the circumstances surrounding her brother and powerless to do anything. Unfortunately with mental health it does not just affect the person suffering it affects the whole family. You feel so strongly for Carleigh you just want to give her big hug.

Annalise’s style of writing was interesting but packs a punch. This is one book to share with those who feel overwhelmed by things out of control when dealing with mental health.
