This was a brilliant read! I really enjoyed it. It definitely had me laughing out loud at times. Poor Jane running over Santa! This is definitely the kind of book that you would love to start all over again because it was that funny. This is the second book I have read by this author and I definitely know I am fan of hers already. I’m not a usual paranormal fan but this series has definitely changed my mind and I would highly recommend them.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Santa Got Run Over by a Vampire (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

I have read this series and while I know it’s going to be good, I always forget just how fun this series is. This book is no exception. Just the concept is hilarious and it is done in not only a fun way, but it is so interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. If you are familiar with the series, some of the characters you have come to love are back, and obviously we meet some new ones too. Santa and Mrs. Claus are great. The originality in this book makes the story so exceptional and you will be wishing there was more. At the same time, it is a complete story, the author does not leave you wondering.

While there are reoccurring characters from previous books, this one can easily be read as a standalone. If you are a fan of fun supernatural books and looking for something a little different for the holidays, this book is for you. In fact, considering the way this year has been, this is a refreshing, fun way to end the year.

Four Stars

I was seriously laughing so hard while reading this story. I’ve never read a book so funny that I couldn’t put it down because I was laughing so hard. The author really knew what she was doing when she wrote the story about our main lead Jane. It almost seem like she just could not help saying whatever popped into her head. The Willy Wonka comment was hysterical you have to read that part because you will die laughing. I do think that it was a little bit too much at times because it almost took away from the main part of the story. I also felt like she got away with it a little bit too much people kind of just ignore the fact that she did it and it was like yeah you should really speak up about that. I do feel that the author did an amazing job with writing the characters around her because they kind of pick up where she lacked. And the whole thing with her dad oh my gosh threw me off like way off. And Santa oh my goodness I cannot believe she did that to Santa. Anyway it was really good story especially when you got more into the heart of it into what the author was trying to get at the plot of the story. I really did like Gaston his character was very interesting because he was very goofy almost but also serious. I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a holiday laugh something that’s not to be taken serious but you still enjoy it anyway.

I LOVED this little look into Jane and Ethan’s life! The holiday aspect added to the story and I stayed up late reading….wondering what was up with Santa. The story moves along at a jolly good pace and easily put me in the holiday spirit. It is full of Santa-isms, puns and Jane’s crazy swear words. Jane is still a spirited gal Who takes all her accidents in stride. This isn’t her biggest but to me it’s the most fun one. I mean who doesn’t want to take a ride on Blitzen??

Overall I enjoyed this look back into Ethan, Gaston and Jane’s undead lives. They are still the same snarky, full of dry humor characters. We even get to see a few others from the series. The story is well written and really put me in the holiday spirit. It is full of holiday laughs and fun. I would highly recommend and not necessary but read License to Bite first since it’s how these characters meet.

Carrie Pulkinen is a genius. Period. She absolutely hands down has put together the best romantic comedy series… that just happens to have a paranormal bent. And this one? Pure comedic genius. Because why wouldn’t a vampire have a lead foot and run over Santa? I loved every single page and found myself laughing for all the right reasons. You have to read this book. It is pure gold.

5 Stars

Santa Got Run Over By a Vampire is Book #3.5 in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. As with the other books in the series, it is a superb and highly original Paranormal Romantic Comedy. It’s a such a fun addition to the series. I have read all Ms. Pulkinen’s books now and have loved them all. The series, and this book are a little less spicy and intense than some of her other work/s- having a definitely cuter, sweeter, fun, and more humorous perspective of the New Orleans paranormal world.
As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with vampires, Santa, reindeer, Mrs. Claus, magic, politics, supernatural elements, and drama- with an enchanting and humorous storyline and all set in mystical and magical New Orleans.
We met Jane back in Book #1 when she was involved in a daring selfie moment that went wrong- that then resulted in her being ‘turned’ by Ethan (her now husband) to save her ‘life’. Ten months have passed since then and Jane is thriving in her undead life. Finding love and getting married, and taking on a job she loves running the hottest Vampire club in New Orleans. So, things look pretty bright. But then her father announces he will be arriving for Christmas- and he has no idea that she’s married, let alone a Vampire. Fate intervenes and her perfect life becomes even more complicated when Jane accidently runs Santa over- and the only way to save him, and Christmas, is to make him a vampire. But things won’t be quite that simple- with only three days to ‘train’ Santa on vampire life and laws brings a few hiccups’ with it that threaten her immortality- a bit of chaos ensues with funny banter, antics, and quips- making for some hilarious moments that made me laugh out loud.
Can’t wait to see what Ms. Pulkinen has in store for us next!

Thank you, Carrie Pulkinen!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Santa got run over by a vampire is the 4th book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is a fantastic short, funny and original book. It revisits the characters from the first book in the series, newly turned vampire Jane and her husband Ethan. It’s Christmas time in New Orleans and Jane has an unfortunate run in with Santa when driving her friend Gaston’s car. She must make the decision on to let Santa die or turn him and try and save Christmas but risk starting a war with the fae in the process. On top of that she must deal with her dad coming to town and trying to explain that she is a vampire! This is a really enjoyable book; it is perfect for reading on a cosy winter night and I really liked it. I have read all the books in this series and I liked going back and finding out more about what Jane had been up too.

This was a great festive read. We are back with our favourite vampire couple and their friend Gaston  as they overcome some more trouble in their path.

First obstacle comes when Jane runs over Santa. An accident she never expected but the only way to save him is to turn him into a vampire. Can she turn the jolly man into a creature of the night? What would be her punishment if she did? Or more importantly what would happen if she just left him to die?

The second obstacle Ethan and Jane have to face is breaking the news to Janes father that not only are they married but that Jane is now an undead vampire.
How will Jane’s father react? Will he accept his daughter as she is now or will he turn his back on her and Ethan.

Since discovering this series and all the clever titles, I’ve fallen in love with Carrie Pulkinen’s writing style and story telling. She is an amazing writer, truly. I wanted to read this story, since it is apart of the series but I feel like my feelings will be bias unfortunately.
I dislike Christmas and since I have such strong feelings about it – I feel as if I couldn’t get completely lost in the story. The reason I still gave this a decently high rate is because the story telling is still brilliant, I love the characters and the cross over as well.
If you like Christmas and all the holly, jolly feels it brings, then I recommend this book to you.

Santa Got Run Over by a Vampire by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that will bring the spirit to you. This is a great Christmas story and falls as number four in the New Orleans Nocturn series and the whole series has just been so much fun, Jane Deveraux has always made me chuckle, but honestly watching her run around like a headless chicken just made me giggle so much, she may have caused all the stress herself, but honestly, she does not it without malice and just adds a great layer to the story. This has been so much fun to read and it is a great addition to the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

CI give Her Blackened Heart (Blackened Series Book 2) by Isra Sravenheart, 4 stars.

I really enjoy this series, and this book just adds to it. It is like reading a dark, adult fairytale. It picks up where book one left off. We see and learn so much more of Astrid in this. We also meet new characters who happen upon the dark castle they call home. They are all wonderful, you never know who is good or bad, or what exactly they are up to. Then there is the story itself. Again, twists and turns leave you guessing the whole way.

If you grew up loving fairy tales, but now root for the evil queen, this book and series is for you. It can be read as a stand alone, but you will understand more if you read book one first.

4 Stars

This is the third book in the Nocturnes series and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I suggest that you read the others as well. This series is amazing and you’ll enjoy them all.

This book is about the worst witch ever, Crimson Oliver. She’s not a bad witch, she’s just bad at being a witch. Most of her spells backfire and things mostly go wrong. She’s in trouble with the coven again wishes with all her might that her powers would stop failing her. She accidentally makes a deal with the devil and now needs to find a way to save her soul.

Mike is a devil’s advocate. He fell for Crimson the first time that he saw her. Unfortunately his devil side emerged and he made a deal with her. Now he needs to find a solution because he refuses to give Crimson to the devil.

This book is fast paced and easy to read. Once again Ms. Pulkinen has created characters that you’ll love. Though making a deal with the devil is serious business, the author manages to lighten the situation with humour and lots of love. This series keeps getting better and better and I’m hoping there will be other books that follow.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Lianne Probert

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

License to kill is a paranormal romance, but has a very different, and more current feeling, to others I have read in the same genre.
Jane is a travel blogger and is visiting New Orleans during Mardi Gras, with her best friend Sophie, to experience everything there is to offer and document it in her blog. The girls find themselves slightly worse for wear and end up being rescued by dashing, yet brooding, vampire Ethan. The following day, still thinking about Ethan, Jane is fatally wounded in an accident and Ethan is forced to bite her in order to save her, but there is more behind his decision than first thought.
I really enjoyed the fast pace of the story, it fitted well with the Mardi Gras setting. And the characters are fun and flirty, not your usual vampire story types, which made it even more enjoyable.

This was a super fun read. Jane seems like a spoiled little rich girl until she meets a drop sexy vampire while in New Orleans. Being the adventurous woman that she is, her NOLA adventure goes a little awry and she finds herself in deep water. Waking up dead has its advantages, like the hot vampire who sired her but when you have an aversion to blood, it can become downright tedious. If you want a good, easy, fun read, then I recommend you read this book. It sweet and sexy all rolled into one. Go ahead, read it, it does bring about smiles and some giggles from time to time.

I give License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

This is a fun Paranormal Romance set in New Orleans. Jane comes across as entitled and spoiled in the beginning of the book. Considering that Ethan is a brooding, depressed vampire, they actually balance each other out. Not to mention that as the book goes on, they bring out more and more of the best of one another. While Jane did annoy me in the beginning of the book, her good qualities really come out as the book does on.

The story is good one too and not necessarily one I’ve read before. Not to mention Jane’s aversion to blood. It is refreshing to read something different in a paranormal romance. Then there is the frustrating feelings Jane and Ethan have for each other. Yes this part has been done before, but the author still makes it entertaining.

If you are a fan of Paranormal Romance set in such an interesting city, this book is for you.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Nicky Margaret

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is a 3 star read.
Jane Anderson is a travel blog writer, she is on a month long trip to New Orleans with her best friend for her blog, she has to deal with her father, the governor of Texas, trying to treat her like a child and make her come home, but she catches the eye of Ethan and her life might be about to change.
Ethan Deveraux is a vampire living in New Orleans with his sire Gaston, when he sees Jane in a bar he’s sure she’s his lost love, turns out she’s nothing like her and Ethan isn’t sure what he’s letting himself in for when he saves Jane’s life.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and while it wasn’t my favourite book I would recommend to readers to try this for themselves as everyone’s taste is different.
