Fate, Frankincense and Funerals by Naomi Valkyrie Archeron is the main character of the story. He is a vulture shifter who according to the rules of their society must never choose a mate or life partner. He is sent to help someone transition to death. This is what he is born to do. He takes the job despite the fact that it’s breaking All the rules, and leaving the area that he’s meant to stay in. When he gets there he meets her nurse (Errapel). Together they navigate this transition. This is a love story and also a story of fighting your own dreams. This story does have minor mention of m/m physical relations. It’s not prominent as the main story is about their love for one another. It flows nicely and the characters are developed well for the most part. It does leave enough open to where there could be a sequel. Which could give some questions if there is no sequel. The story went much quicker than I thought it would go and before I knew it I had finished it. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the way that I was written. It was very easy to read. Would enjoy reading the sequels if they are written.
This is like a 3 & 1/2 for me. I like the idea of the storyline. We follow Tamaska who is being hunted by Vampires over an important necklace that gets stolen. Enter Kodiak the shifter who tries to protect her against his Alpha’s wishes. She’s pretty rude and overly difficult through most of the book despite understanding the situation she’s in. There wasn’t much character development for her, I hope she has some in the next book. All in all the storyline is an intriguing one, the main character is just a little annoying. I hope Kodiak becomes Alpha somehow and Tamaska finally stops being a brat.

This book is a phenomenal read that will have you yearning for more tales about these unique characters, Aranha, Dag, and Jonah. It made me think of the survival skills of The Hunger Games series mixed with the often unusual adopted family dynamic of The Originals TV show, while also adding in some romantic tensions and tendencies. In other words it has it all including vampires, werewolves, daywalkers, and a kick but take names, snarky spider shifter heroine. **⚠️There are a couple of small trigger warnings in this book.. The first is for talk of suicidal thoughts due to being alone for centuries and having to feed on humans. The second is for one of the secondary characters who deals with trust issues due to having suffered emotional and physical abuse. For me these didn’t hinder the enjoyment of the story at all as it is a great read and it is minimal in grand scheme of the overall story.⚠️**
The dual POV helps you get into the mindset of the characters as they face many adventures and challenges such as Aranha being the last surviving webmaker (Spider shifter). She is just trying to stay hidden under the radar of the vampires and werewolves that can kill her when fate leads her to Dag’s bar where she meets the hunky daywalker for the first time. From there the true adventures begin as they face danger, supernatural politics, mysteries, and other emotions that they aren’t really sure how to handle at first. This is the first book I’ve read by Courtney Davis, but I guarantee it won’t be my last. She has built a world that not only has intriguing primary and secondary characters but an amazing, unique backstory as well. I really enjoyed this book and hope the author gives us more Aranha, Dag, and Jonah.

Nightfall by TK Lawyer was a decent read. I’m not sure if I just wasn’t in the right mood today or what, but this book just didn’t hit me right like I wanted it to. After reading the synopsis I was very interested, and I thought this would be a very interesting and good read. While it was well written and had me captivated throughout, I thought it was very strange. It seemed almost like a beastiality thing at the beginning? I knew it wasn’t, but I couldn’t help thinking that almost the entire time. That put me off big time with this novel. Other than that, this novel was well written and I enjoy the storyline once I got past that bit. It was probably just an off reading day for me and hopefully I’ll enjoy the next novel by Lawyer better!
This story is one that I normally wouldn’t read, but it kept my attention for the most part. Tamara finds a stray dog, or what she thinks is a dog, but he’s a wolf. She names him Nightfall. Nightfall is very protective of her and eventually she is able to communicate telepathically with him. What she doesn’t know is, she has met him before when he was in human form. Their relationship grows and she finally learns the truth.
Claiming her Mates by Dia Cole is book one of the paranormal shifters romance series. This is the first I had heard of this author, but I never can resist a shifter/paranormal novel and I am glad for that. This book was well written and I absolutely fell in love with the characters. I cant wait to read what happens next in their story. The characters draw you in while the story line keeps you reading. I will definitely continue to look for more books by this author and read them. I give this book a solid 5 stars, and find something to read that will live up to these characters.

Claiming her Mates by Dia Cole a four-star read you will want to claim. This is the first novel in the Claiming her Mate’s series and it’s a paranormal shifter romance, not everyone likes the genre, but this is a very well-done example. What a story, there is drama and steam a plenty, what made it even more powerful is Vana, she could have been swallowed up by the three powerful male characters, but she isn’t, she stands toe to toe. The chemistry between the four is page melting and we hear from each of them, that just makes the story so much clearer. There was something missing overall, but I am sure that the next novel in the series will give us that little extra as we will have more of a grounding, bring on number two.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One: (A paranormal shifter romance series) by Dia Cole. I was definitely taken by surprise with this unique take on shifter romance story. I knew going in I was in for quite the ride but I got so much more than I was expecting and all in a good way. Each character brings something unique and different to the story and it’s well written with some very steamy parts. This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more! From page one I was completely hooked and couldn’t stop reading until I hit the end. If you’re looking for a paranormal romance with so twists and turns then this is for you. I’m giving this book a four star review and highly recommend it to anyone.

Claiming Her Mates is book one and is part of the Paranormal Shifter Romance by Dia Cole. Having never read this author before, I was excited to see what was being delivered. I was not disappointed. I don’t often read paranormal romances, and it is even rarer for me to pick up a shifter romance. I am glad I did.
Havana has her hands full of with not one but three men. Mason, Gabriel and Liam take caring for Havana very seriously, and will do everything in their power to keep her safe. Claiming Her Mates is a steamy romance that will heighten the senses and raise the heartbeat. The author spun the tale brilliantly and each character complimented the other, and the guts of the story was evident and entertaining. 4 stars

Holy Pete, there was a lot going on in this book! I was very glad to find out that this was going to have more than just a part two eventually. I understood that this took awhile to set up as far as the story line went but for me that first third or so of the book really was a stall for me. I struggled to get into it. My issue was the many layers that this author was trying to take on and the multiple point of views all at once. Don’t get me wrong! I ended up really enjoying this book and the concept. There was a lot of time and plotting that went into this that is beyond evident once you finish. I really hope I don’t get the flu this year. So my strongest suggestion, stick through it, it’s totally worth it in the end!
Like I was mentioning this was a packed book, but the main gists boil down to our MC, Havana, or more referred to as Vana, is swept up into a situation that she never expected to find herself in. Worse so she is a headstrong woman that knows how to take care of herself and these handsome three me that want to help her certainly are not going to make it easy on her nerves or her hormones. This is a reverse harem/ menage novel, another layer added, and this is done well. Things begin to heat up between the four, and not just between the skin. For more of the details you will just have to devour this gem for yourself.

This is book 1 of a new series and it started out very strong. When I started reading I had the feeling that I had read this story already as the setting was a bit “generic”, but after the first few scenes it morphed into its own story.. Claiming Her Mates is all about HER and HER needs which is a nice departure on the traditional alpha male world.
Book 1 is setting up the series nicely with it’s world building. Each character is clearly defined in both role and personality and we get to see a peek into the future of the series. The story is well plotted from beginning to end and the “sexy times” are held back to build up the anticipation.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and i look forward to reading more in the series.

Claiming Her Mates: Book One is the first book in A Paranormal Shifter Romance Series by Dia Cole. This is quite an original take on the shifter romance story, as it incorporates Lykos shifters (wolves), military experimentation, a worldwide flu pandemic- with a zombie apocalypse. There is action aplenty in this steamy reverse harem/ménage story. There’s danger, drama, action, adventure, tension, suspense, some mystery, intrigue, sizzle, passion, and romance. Havana James (Vana) has been on her own since she was 16 years old- doing whatever she needed to do to get by. She’s beautiful, seductive, independent and sassy. Her past could have made her hard and cold, but instead, she’s resilient, compassionate and caring. She’s at work one night when some sexy strangers swoop in and demand she leave with them. She mistakenly thinks they’re the police- but soon realises that she’s wrong. In the process of trying to sneak away from them, she places herself in a very deadly situation- but luckily for her the strangers are there to save the day. They finally convince her that they are there to make sure she stays safe and to take her out of harms way. She is a little wary, but as danger mounts, she’s really left with little choice but to let them ‘help’. As the four of them spend time together, it is apparent that there is a strong attraction between them, a powerful force that is hard to deny. But not everyone is pleased to have her around. The tension mounts and sparks fly. What happens when their sizzling chemistry bubbles over and their passions ignite? Will they make it to safety? Who are these ‘men’ and why are they helping her? What happens when secrets are revealed- will Vana be strong enough to handle the truth? This book started off a little slow, and for the first half of the book the story lacked the depth that I was hoping for….. But the second half of the story really got really interesting and really made up for the slower start. The characters were really great, especially throughout the second half of the book. They each had their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws- which made them realistic, believable, and likeable. I must admit that I really didn’t take to Gabriel for the first half of the book- he was difficult, prickly, and cold. But when the story evolved, I got an understanding of what made him the way he was, my heart ached for what he’d been through. So, my feelings for him did a complete flip from hate to love over the course of the book. Mason is such a sweetheart, the kind and nurturing one of the group- he made my heart go pitter-patter! Liam is a sexy giant of a man- he had me at 7 foot bearded protector, and I loved his cheeky, flirty nature, too (swoon). The story is told from these four points of view, which gives the reader a well-balanced/complete perspective of what’s happening and what they’re all going through. I loved the unique take on the whole shifter romance, I thought it was very clever of Ms. Cole. I enjoyed the story a lot, especially the second half. This is the first part though- as the story is set to continue in in part two, which I can’t wait to get my hands on. There’s also a prequel coming out soon, which I am excited to read, too!

Fighting to Win: A Paranormal Shifter Romance (Rocky River Fighters) by Grace Brennan is the long awaited fourth book in the series and is just as good as the others if not better. Ian has always been the one to hold the group together but I have been waiting for his story and it did not disappoint. I loved this story, it was engaging and suspenseful and the darker side of the sub story always kept you on your toes. I certainly hope Grace gives us more of these shifters and their stories. A paranormal romance story is good when done right and Grace does it right.

Fight Song: A Paranormal Shifter Romance (Rocky River Fighters Book 3) by Grace Brennan is another delightful book to this series. It is a quick read as the story flows easily and is highly engaging. I enjoy Grace’s writing skills with characters that are relatable and lovable and twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. There are characters from the other books in the series so I would read them in order to understand who they are and what parts they play in the world of the Rocky River fighters. Grace really brings it all together and this is another great read, I really enjoy Grace’s shifter romances and an waiting for the next one.
