Kingdom of the Oceans by Martin Ferguson – Review by Kat Mellon

Kingdom of the OceansKingdom of the Oceans by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kingdom of the Oceans completes this part of the series, and was amazing! There might be more that is added onto this series, and it sets up like there might be, but it also neatly wraps up most everything from the series thus far, so no major cliff hangers. The fate of the British museum is still uncertain, as well as how things will play out when Duncan finds out the truth of his mother, and I’m looking forward to the next books to cover those.

The multiple POV continues with present day British Museum staff and past legends of Atlantis. I loved the fictional storyline of Atlantis and the meeting of past and present worlds. Overall a wonderful series and great for young teens to adults.

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and he still blows my mind. This is the fourth book in the very addictive series the Relic Hunters. You do need to read these books in order or you might get lost. I love a good young adult adventure but this book exceeded my expectations. I started this book right away and I read it in only one sitting. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Adam and Matt are going to go on their first hunt on their own. They are used to having help and more equipment but this mission is more personal. Their journey is in the middle of Greek mythology. They are going to have a lot of skill and tricks up their sleeves. Adam and Matt are so close at getting what they have been searching for but there are things that will try to stop them. Will the brothers get what they want or will they be stoped?

As always, Martin Ferguson creates an amazing, thrilling, and gripping adventure. This time the chase is for the ever elusive glory filled Atlantis. The stakes and danger were never higher as Adam and Matt face old foes and a new intriguing journey. I am saddened to see this series come to a close, because I highly enjoyed this treasure hunting romp. This book and series is so much fun to read for anyone at any age and of course the cover art is stunning. The only thing I suggest besides picking up this riveting series is starting from book one Eagle Of The Empire!

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: WolfKingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf by R.C. Reigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kingdom of 7 Sovereigns: Wolf is the first book in the series and I really enjoyed it! I hadn’t read anything by this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Multiple POVs from a very diverse cast- ranging from dragons to werewolves to humans.
This story focuses on a newly built school for the kingdom that also houses the young royals. When they’re recently thrown together, of course there’s some chaos involved. Add in a witch with an unknown ulterior motive, spells, fated mates and scorned love with some teenage hormones and you get a very intriguing read! I had a hard time putting it down and honestly can’t wait for the next one !

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 5 in a series, and I admittedly started with this book and wasn’t confused totally can be done as a standalone.
Join Matt and Adam in adventures across timelines and povs there is historical fiction and fantasy while exploring Greek heros, several famous lost cities and battles alike! This author expertly weaves his tale with great attention to detail and characters making you instantly invested. The timelines and pov changes frequently but the start of each chapter is labeled with a character and the “when” of what’s happening. The chapters are also mercifully shorter allowing you to capture things in small snippets but getting great detail and world building so both YA readers and Adults can BOTH enjoy this series. Very well done and now I need to go back and learn more!

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After the Museum is taken over by the United Nations Security and Adam’s best friends mom, Elizabeth, who is also rumored to be a part of Winterbourne, Adam is told for the second time to investigate the Alpha team’s room.

Adam’s curiosity peaked. Once he broke into the room he was greeted with a bunch of old equipment and photos. In one of the photos is Charles, Elizabeth and their father! Turns out he was a hunter too and went down in a storm years ago. Adam and Matt right then and there quit. They no longer trust Charles and with the museum being under new management, it only makes sense to cut ties now.

Their mother and Charles give the boys the last things that their father had left for them. A letter and a journal. With that the boys decide to find out the truth about what happened to their father. Without the help from the museum, they need to do all of this secretly. After some investigating, it seems their father was looking for Atlantis.

There are flashbacks to a time when Atlantis still stood with mention of a few of the Greek Gods.

Again, Martin Ferguson shows how much research they put into their writing. The book started off with a twist, capturing my intrigue instantly. I love Greek Mythology and this was right up my alley. Will the Hunter Brothers really find Atlantis?

I really enjoyed this whole series and its sad to know this is the last one. These books are great together or by themselves but now enjoyable when you read them in order. As just like with the others in this series, this is a fantastic young adult action-adventure with wonderful characters, treasure hunting, the quest for Atlantis, historical details, mythology, drama, mystery, danger, investigation, tension, an intriguing & complex plot, high stakes, and a race against time and so much more. I couldn’t get enough of these books they kept me intrigued and wanting more. The tales of the past in the story really brings together the quests and the history of what the relic hunters are ding. Adam and Matt are at it again but this time for the hunt to find Atlantis. This is a great series and I highly suggest reading it even if you’re not a young adult.

Vlad the Impaler or Vladislav Dracula as he was called back in the day, was known as a brutal ruler and said to be a vampire. But vampires aren’t real, right?

Adam and his crew are back at it again, this time to Romania to check out Poenari Castle, also known as Castle Dracula. A professor who is friends with Charles found papers that were said to be owned by a scholar who disappeared after investigating the castle in 1967. The British Museum crew are told to go with the professor to protect her while she looks for hidden secrets. A goblet with a dragon on it is found and that’s when all hell breaks loose. They are being hunted by Winterbourne, the military and now vampires!? One by one they are turned except for Adam and it is once again up to him to save his team. Can he do it all alone?

Meanwhile we get a glimpse into Vlad’s past and how he became the ruthless man he is known to be.

This is the 4th installment of the ‘Relic Hunters’ series and so far, it’s my favourite. I love stories of vampires and shifters and anything fantasy so I was excited to have that as the main theme this time around. Martin Ferguson has a way with words and will make you invested in all the characters right from the get go. Time to read book 5!

This was an incredible book, I really enjoyed and love the fact that it is series, which I can not wait to get into the rest. This book went and back and forth between past and present which gave it a nice back story on the events and what was happening before. the history that weaved into the story really brings a different perspective to this story. Matt and Adam are far from your ordinary boys, they are relic hunters, and this story takes us to Rome, but they aren’t the only ones on the hunt. The adventure these boys go thou shows to them a lot of growth and that they can accomplish anything. This book was filled with action, supernatural, history, suspense and so much more. Highly recommend this book.

Relic Hunters book 5 is amazing, and I’m immediately going back to book 1. I love Greek mythology, the smooth transitions between past and present, Adam and Matt and the world that has been built and shared in this book. I was fully engrossed and didn’t feel confused about anything, but I did feel curious and interested in getting more engrossed in this world.

Adam and Matt are on the most important quest so far, and journey through Troy, deal with tragedies and Greek heroes, and a world full of wonderful characters. In the midst of all of this, they are on the run and being hunted as criminals themselves. The cover art drew my original attention, the summary made me interested, and reading the actual story has made me a fan. I can see these books even piquing the interest of non readers.

But this doesn’t stop the relic hunters and they set out to discover the secret a why it was just discovered now, and why all the traps what this pyramid could be hiding. Relic Hunters: War of the Damned (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson – Review by Santana Hicks

War of the Damned (Relic Hunters, #3)War of the Damned by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book of the ‘Relic Hunters’ series and continues shortly after book 2. All of the books have separate themes but the character plot and growth are connected so this is not to be read as a stand alone.

The British Museum is asked to come investigate a U Boat from WWII found that was never commissioned. There was no paperwork for it. Once the group enters the boat, they find a symbol they do not recognize and a few they do. A crazed woman shows up and pillages the boat, then she blows it up. Adam and the crew only have a couple pictures to go on to find out what this boat was used for. Not only that but who is this woman and what did they find?

Things are not making sense and it is up to the crew to find out why? They find a remaining survivor from that time but the veteran just makes things more confusing. Throw in a bout of undead to make things worse for the crew. This is the first time the brothers are actually working together in the field after Matt’s injury and it’s a doozy.

The author always writes point of views in both the present and the past. The past portion of the book this time around is about a Private Cooper who was too young to be in this war but lied about his age to join. He is connected to the background of the U Boat. He goes through hell and back and wants nothing more than to make it home to his love, Maggie.

I personally am not a fan of modern history but I really enjoy this author’s writing. They are very knowledgeable of a broad area of history and the author writes the present day filled with action from the first page to the last. So far my favourite character is Emma. She is sassy but has a soft side. From the first time Adam met her, he has had a thing for her. As time goes on, she seems to be warming up to him. I am rooting for them to get together.

Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Book 5)Betrayal of the Gods by Martin Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Relic Hunters is book 5 of this short series and this book differently could be read as a standalone. This series is most definitely aimed for the young adult youth crowd, but it was very enjoyable to read still. The story jumps each chapter from present to past, but it was easy enough to follow along. Two brothers Adm and Hunter are challenged to a race of their lives and have to figure out how to survive through the Greek legends. But as the race continues, they are declared as outlaws and are being chased down but not just anyone but also ones they thought were allies. I love the aspect of adding in Greek mythology throughout the book which is always stuff I love about reading and what strikes my interest. This book was very exciting to read, and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen to the brothers and if they were able to get out or finish with this adventurous race.

This is book five in the Relic Hunters series and can be read as a standalone. The chapters are small enough and easy to be digested for a young adult audience. I felt so much confused as the chapters go back and forth in time, even though they do give a heading at the beginning of each one. There’s plenty of adventure and the weaving of Greek mythology throughout the plot was done well. Ferguson creates attention to detail to keep the reader engrossed in the story. It’s a call to adventure readers will enjoy.

Relic Hunters: Betrayal of the Gods (Relic Hunters Series) by Martin Ferguson is a great young adult series

If they are to survive as they go through the Greek mythology legends, they will need to employ all of their abilities. Declared criminals, they will be hunted down by tenacious adversaries and people they had considered allies; their own group, tasked with putting an end to Adam and Matt at whatever costs.

Blood of the Dragon (Relic Hunters Book 4) by Martin Ferguson is a great adventure series

Adam Hunter and the Relic Hunters arrive at the abandoned Poenari Castle in Romania in response to an urgent cry for assistance. They discover that myth and history mix more than ever in the former residence of Vlad the Impaler, the most notorious mass killer in recorded history. Adam and his group quickly discover that they are the ones being chased rather than the hunters when their deeds bring back a villain long thought to be contained only in stories. Nowhere is immune from the darkness’s pursuit, not even the British Museum. It follows them across the world. They fall one by one until Adam is left to face the terrifying fury of the Blood of the Dragon by himself.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. The story really brings passion into your life. I couldn’t put the book down. I have binge read the series at this point and I absolutely love it.
