Threads of Time (Toronto Time Agents Series) by C. N. Jackson – Review by La Toya Lewis

Threads of TimeThreads of Time by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Threads of Time by C. N. Jackson is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents Series. We follow Wilda Firestone as she travels back in time. The visit is to try to find terrorists that seem to be responsible for a bombing in the present time. This book was a nice adventure. Although I started the series with this book, I was not confused. The book does a nice job of bringing you up to speed on past events. The story contains a well-written plot and plenty of action to keep you intrigued. The author does a good job of holding your attention. I have to admit that I did not connect with Wilda. Despite this, I was still able to enjoy the story. This is a good story for people who enjoy time travel or historical fiction.

Adventure, oil, mysterious crashes, reporting, and gold were all of what Mark Sutherland’s life consisted of. He couldn’t wait for the next thing to come along. This book is a fast paced Adventure novel that will have you flipping the pages until the end. First read from this author, I plan to read more. I recommend this read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series. I would recommend reading the first book prior to this one for an understanding on the world and the characters.
I don’t often read books with time travel but this one had me engaged and invested. There are plenty of twists and suspenseful moments to keep your attention and make you unwilling to put the book down.
The descriptive narrative allows you to step through time with the characters. You can tell research has been done on the time period, and this adds realism to the story as well as making you fell immersed in the story and time period. I was gripped from the beginning and remained enthralled throughout. There was so much going on and yet it wasn’t enough, I needed more of Wilda immediately – I loved her.
I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, this series has been great so far and I can only see it getting better if it continues how it has.

The Magic Carousel by K.L. Small – Review by Kat Mellon

The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring #1)The Magic Carousel by K.L. Small
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok so I absolutely LOVED this book! I was planning on just reading it to my kids as they fall asleep, but found myself reading long after they had started sleeping. My girls loved it (3 and 4) but I am also going to give it to my 12 year old to read and I think he would really enjoy it too.
The world building is incredible and so vivid. The storyline is so unique and the characters are wonderful. K. L. Small really brings the main characters to life and I just wanted to rescue poor Rus. No spoilers, but I felt so sorry for him and was so frustrated that the adults in his life didn’t seem to notice he was struggling. Happy endings for all, but does illustrate some real life struggles in a way that is easy to understand and empathize with.
Recommend this book for readers of all ages!

1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure (Mark Sutherland Adventures) by Kimberly Mullins – Review by Desiree Ottinger

1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure1897 A Mark Sutherland Adventure by Kimberly Mullins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mark Sutherland loves adventure! In order to support his ideal lifestyle, he became a reporter. His dream is to go to the Yukon and experience the Canadian Gold Rush. However, he has to pay and exorbitant amount of money to get there. Not to mention, a year’s worth of supplies (including a stove) to be able to survive there, because once you get there, you are iced in until spring. So to save his money to get there, he takes other trips out to Texas and Oklahoma. He has other adventures and ends up befriending Gus, who becomes a good, reliable friend. When he returns from those, he finds out that his trip has been approved, but it comes with a few strings. Can Mark agree to the terms to gain the trip of a lifetime? Or will it become too much to ask of him?

I really love reading this author! Their stories always make me feel like I am right there in history watching the adventures play out in my mind. The characters are written in such a relatable/likeable way that it is easy to want to be their friend! I also enjoyed the mention and interaction with Emma from the author’s Notebook Mysteries series (if you haven’t read that series, you should!). I love that their story is still continuing on with the next generation. It was an enjoyable read and am looking forward to the next in the series!

Sarge by Stuart Ledwith – Review by Jennifer Ramos

SargeSarge by Stuart Ledwith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such a quick and insightful read for the prequel Mission 3407. It starts out with going into TJ’s family history and how he became such a distinguishable officer and in the Navy Seals. All his training leads to his future involvement in Mission 3407. As he came from such a hopeless, poor background, he didn’t believe he could surmise to anything. Others along the way were able to see his worth and potential. His discipline and dedication leads him far into his successes where he becomes trained with the Navy Seal, not an easy feat at all. As he works on arriving there, he makes an unexpected discovery of a missing woman from her family’s yacht. The story takes further into their lives together and this special unit he becomes an integral part of. If you enjoyed Mission 3407, you will enjoy this short novella!

Mark Sutherland is a reporter for the Chicago Tribune that reports on a little if everything. We met him in the Notebook Mysteries so we know he’s always up for an adventure. The Yukon Gold Rush is happening and Mark is making his way there. As with her other works the author has put together a fun adventure that makes you want to see what happens next. This was a quick and easy read that ties in with her Notebook Mysteries nicely. I hope we get more stories of Mark in the future.

I enjoyed reading this time travel history book. It is a fast paced, well written story that took me on an adventure. A well written story that has some mystery to it. Wilda’s world is turned upside down when her life’s work is reduced to ashes. She is angered which has now taken her on a dangerous mystery. What happens when a time travel doesn’t go as planned? I enjoyed Wilda’s character and what she brought to the story. She is a determined woman who puts her past aside only to see things are a lot more out of whack. I enjoyed how she pulled me into her world of time travel and kept my attention to the end. There is great growth of the plot throughout which makes the story easy to read. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is easy to read and hard to put down. I really enjoyed this story and the characters within. I highly recommend this book.

I loved getting to read the backstory of this enigmatic hero. Readers can be inspired by the hope that comes from seeing the caring adults who step in and step up to help a teen become a man. It was interesting to see the paths he chose. Each decision that a person makes sends out ripples to impact others. Although the ending is not happy, it is a springboard for future stories featuring this character.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one as I’d never read anything by this author before. I was pleasantly surprised by this quick and interesting dive into military adventure with TJ/Sarge. Sometimes I get a bit worried about short books as I feel they can leave out too many details that could’ve connected the reader to the story, but this author pulled it off very well. I have not read the related book, Mission 3047, but I plan on picking it up since I enjoyed this so much. I was pulled in from the very beginning as the author knows how to create engaging characters that have you invested very early on. I highly recommend picking this book up and reading about a determined Sarge!

Sarge is a Fantasy Adventure that tells the story of Lieutenant Commander TJ Madison, AKA Sarge, who we were first introduced to in Mission 3047. This book gives his backstory and tells about his upbringing, how he first met his wife and how he came to work for a top secret agency. Sarge had a challenging upbringing and worked hard to put food on the table at an early age. When he was given an opportunity to have a better life he took it and through hard work, perseverance, and determination he became a highly decorated Navy Seal. Sarge met the love of his life when he rescued her but lost her when she passed away. The story is full of love, loss, drama, action, suspense, UFO’s, aliens, and top secret missions. The author has a unique writing style and I loved how entertaining and intriguing his stories are. I highly recommend this book!

Sarge by Stuart Ledwith. We first meet Sarge in Mission 3047 but don’t really learn a lot about him. This is his story and we learn all about him. It can be read as a standalone though. Its the story of Sarge and his many life lessons in growing up. He is a deep character that grew up in a rough way and ended up becoming a very decorated Navy Seal. Its tells of his marriage and all the trials and tribulations they went thru. Its a very telling story of a man making something of his life after he was dealt a hard hand. Such a informative, interesting read. I highly recommend it.

Threads of Time is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series by C.N. Jackson (aka-Christy Nicholas). It is another intriguing adventure, with a suspenseful plot, mystery, history, sci-fi elements, time travel, drama, agendas, the paranormal, danger, investigation, banter, witty dialogue, and lots more.
We are back with Wilda Firestone whom we met previously in Book #1- She’s a retired Temporal Agent who now runs an outfitters shop for time travellers. Things take a dangerous and complicated turn when a bomb goes off, destroying her shop, as well as the time machine next door. Now Wilda is thrust into a dangerous investigation with a ‘rookie’ as her partner. The stakes are high, and the adventure is wild.
I highly recommend reading the first book, Time Tourist Outfitters Ltd (Book #1), before starting on this one, as the first book lays solid foundations and contains important character details/introductions, as well as other important information which will enhance your reading experience of this book.
As usual, Ms. Jackson’s wonderful worldbuilding skills are evident- crafting a story that is quite rich and vividly descriptive. The historical elements were really well done- adding an extra element of interest to the overall story.
Looking forward to Book #3, ‘Unraveling Brigid’s Veil’!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, C.N. Jackson!

Threads of Time is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series. This novel is suspenseful, mysterious, and has a lot historical components. The setting is descriptive and easy to imagine the places. It’s a great historical time traveling adventure! I appreciate the author including a pronunciation guide for the words that were not in English and a note that the novel is set in Toronto, Canada. Which helps the reader know that there are different spelling of some words.

Wilda Firestone is a force to be reckoned with across all times. A retired time travel agent who decided she could no longer be involved as an agent after the devastating loss of her husband and their child. Unable to remove herself from her beloved agency completely, she becomes a seamstress for her fellow time travelers, creating clothing to withstand the trip.

After being…convinced…to take on a protege, Algernon, she makes a plan. Before they can even start following that plan, a bomb has gone off, her work is demolished and she has coworkers fighting for their lives from injuries in the blast. Traveling back to the 1850’s to locate terrorists who have destroyed her life and to avenge the damage caused by the blast at the office, Wilda and Algernon experience their battles in the past with vivid world-building and descriptions, wonderful and sassy exchanges, unique ideas, interesting characters, suspense, danger, and time travel!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author but not the last. I didn’t really have any trouble following in this book – I just don’t want to deprive myself of book 1!

The is 2nd book in the Toronto Time Agents Series. I do really recommed you read them in order so you get a full understanding of the characters and their roles. It is a travel adventure that is filled with twists and turns and danger around every corner. The author does an amazing job of taking the reader back in time to eras go by and really immersing them in that time period. The author’s research and descriptions of the time periods the characters find themselves in really brings the whole story to life.
This story starts with a bang quite literally when an explosion happens destroying the time machine next door to Wilda’s shop. Not only destroying the machine but every item of historical clothes that Wilda has made for all the time travelling customers.
As a former agent she is used to dealing with terrorist past and present so when she is requested to take her new trainee on a mission the last thing she wants is to be thrown back into the dangers of time travelling to times unknown. With dangers attempting to harm her in the present, a time machine not exactly working as it should, terrorists to stop in the past and a trainee who doesn’t have a clue Wilda certainly has her work cut out to keep the time lines untouched, people safe and the present unaffected in negative ways.

This is truelly a captivating read that will have the reader gripped from the first page. I can’t wait to see what else the author has in store for us.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

C.N. Jackson brings us a new book in the Toronto Time Agents where history, time travel and adventures are abounded. Threads of Time is the second book in this series the first book being Time Tourist Outfitters, Ltd. Both are a unique and interesting read.
Wilda cracks me up. She is stubborn, wilful, definitely not a push over and she says what she thinks. I forgot how much I loved her and her witty banter from the first book. Time traveling is her life’s work, and she loves it but it’s time for her to focus on training others (or so she says) but of course nothing is ever straightforward when it comes to Wilda and time travel.
It is a time where you can time travel to anywhere and time you want to go to.
It is a tense, suspenseful and mysterious read with a lot of historical elements. C.N. has woven a tale where her narrative so very vivid you can easily imagine all that she describes.
Join Wilda as she travels to the 1850’s to investigate terrorists who have taken everything away from her. But is it only terrorists that she has to face or is it something much worse?
If you like historical time travel adventures, then you will need to get your hands on this book to find out.

Wilda is a no-nonsense, take-charge time-traveling agent. She is forced to rely on her new trainee because of the times they travel to. This is the first book I have read by this author and the first Toronto Time Agents book. It can be read as a standalone; however, I will be picking up the previous installment as soon as I can. Any time I am asked what superpower I wish I had, the answer is always time travel. Of course that’s what caught my attention first! Wilda Firestone is a tough and fiery protagonist who reluctantly sets out on an investigation in order to fix the past and save the present. Wilda agrees to team up with Alergnon and teach him what she knows, much to her chagrin. The way these characters play off each other is so fun! This book is full of awesome characters and mysterious thrill-rides. The story is well-written and fleshed-out and contains a little bit of everything. I highly recommend picking up this book. This book is more of a short novella and I personally love it that way. Short, simple, sweet, and to the point, this book has just enough. Sarge is complex yet a simple man at the same time. While it is part of the Mission 3047 universe, this novella can definitely be read as a standalone. I recommend this read.
