House of Arsceneaux (Servants of Morrigan: Immortal Creatures) by Caterina Novelliere – Review by Amber Howard

House of ArsceneauxHouse of Arsceneaux by Caterina Novelliere
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sooooo my mind is blown. I had a feeling while reading this book that there had to be more to the story than just Cate being his wife reincarnated. I just didn’t expect it would be so much more. This book had me in such a hold. It is easily in my top 5 for the year so far. Just know that you are in for a hell of a ride. People are more than what they seem and what you think you know about the supernatural isn’t quite the same here.

Holding Up the Sky (Giants and Monsters) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Amber Howard

Holding Up the SkyHolding Up the Sky by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought the story was simple enough for young children to read and understand. My 6 year old grasped the meaning easily and was very engaged. It just seemed to end abruptly. That’s my only complaint. The artwork was lovely. The meaning behind the story was good. I’d recommend this book.

Talks Like Thunder (Red With Native Blood Book 1) Audiobook by Randal Nerhus & Marjorie Carter – Review by Amber Howard

Talks Like Thunder (Red With Native Blood: Novella One)Talks Like Thunder by Randal Nerhus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Talks Like Thunder by far has been one of the most emotionally stimulating stories that I have ever read. I wept for a while after finishing it. The pain that colonialism has caused native Americans and other people of color is sickening. I am an African American woman who has traces of Native American in my family. To think that my ancestors suffered like this on all sides rattles me to my core. I believe this book needs to be on the high school reading list although I’m sure there’s be those against it. This story would serve to remind us all to embrace our differences in culture and love one another while honoring those who fought for that right. Although the story ended abruptly without us knowing Thunders fate I am hoping it will circle back by the time the series is over.

Bound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski – Review by Amber Howard

Bound by the HinterlandsBound by the Hinterlands by Bree M. Lewandowski
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a pretty good read. I only wish it had a sequel. The story felt incomplete. Like the Prince’s visit and the possibility that he would decided that the Hinterlands could be cast aside and no longer apart of the kingdom was made to be a big part of the plot just for it not to have conclusion. However, Cressida and Caravahl were perfectly matched. Each had a tough life but a big heart the story was full of action, entertainment, wit, and romance. Definitely a good read for those who enjoy fantasy novels.

Breathless Love (The Bennetts of Langston Falls, #3)Breathless Love by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ahhh I finished this book 2 minutes ago and rushed to write this review while it’s still fresh. This was probably the most emotional book yet in this series. I cried, I smiled, I cheered. Something about this one touched me to my core. I’m still teary eyed now. Hank is an amazing character and he truly met his other half. I cannot wait for the next one. It’s time for Becks to meet her love.

Falling Again (Buckeye Falls Book 3) by Libby Kay – Review by Amber Howard

Falling Again: A Buckeye Falls NovelFalling Again: A Buckeye Falls Novel by Libby Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the Buckeye Falls series. It reminds me of hallmark movies. (Maybe hallmark will be interested in turning it into a movie?!) I love for the small town feel. Everyone is so supportive of each other and helpful when needed. There’s love seeping through the pages even if the characters don’t realize it. I honestly loved seeing Anthony (Mayor) in a new light. He came off kind of uppity and out of touch in the last book. Natalie truly is a superhero. Alice was quite the character but I will say by the end of the story I grew to like her. I cannot wait for more about her.

The Wandering Isles: A Crown of Stones Novella (Soulbound Journeys Book 1) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Amber Howard

The Wandering Isles (The Crown of Stones)The Wandering Isles by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited to read this one. I loved the “A Crown of Stones” series. I hated when it ended. Felt like I was apart of Ian’s world. So happy I still get to indulge in it. This one was definitely interesting. As Ian and Jarryd faced the newest “evil” I also faced a fear. Was this novella going to end with us thinking that everything that had happened was merely their brains trying to cope with being captured? I finished this book in a few hours because I simply needed answers lol. The way the characters and I questioned reality was parallel. Every moment was a wait no this can’t be. There’s no way this is what’s happening. Needless to say I was not disappointed. I could feel all of the characters emotions. I cried when they cried. I was angry when they were angry and I had a sense of understanding by the time the book was over. It was very well written. And although it’s a work of fiction, some life lessons can be learned from it. Thank you for a bother great book. I’ve read every single book you’ve written thus far and I’ve loved every single one of them.

Ghosts of Alda (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 2) by Russell Archey – Review by Amber Howard

Ghosts of AldaGhosts of Alda by Russell Archey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is actually the first book I’m reading by this author. I have to go back and read book 1. However I must say this is by far one of the most creatively written books I’ve read this year. I could visualize everything the author described it. I could feel the fear the characters felt. I was dang near on the edge of my seat the entire time. At first I was a tad frustrated because every chapter focused on a different character and time. However it all came together nicely at the end. Im a little heartbroken that one of the characters I fell in love with had such a fate bestowed on her. But it made the story that much more impactful. I hope the good guys win in the last book. Definitely a 9/10.

This book really messes with your head and emotions. I’m still not even sure what the truth is lol. It’s was so entertaining and you immediately feel nothing but empathy for Truly. When her world is turned upside down so was mine. Is everything in her head or did the events actually happen? If you supernatural books this is a great one to read.

Obedience (Ties That Bind Book 1) by Liza Snow – Review by Amber Howard

ObedienceObedience by Liza Snow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just finished this book and had to rush over to write this review while it’s fresh in my mind. First off this is not something I usually read about (Genre). I also don’t like clowns so I was a little scared to read it lol. Luckily they were only mentioned briefly. However, this book was way better than I expected. It was hot and dangerous! The steam was on level 10. I don’t know a whole lot about Shibari but I definitely learned a lot from this book. Apart from the rope play, the drama and action was also very good. The French Mafia? Uncle Peter? The ex-wife? And let’s talk about the cliff hanger we were left on. One of the best I’ve read ever. I immediately put the release date of book 2 in my Calendar. Liza you did such a wonderful job with this book!

Healing Kiss by Amanda Uhl – Review by Amber Howard

Healing KissHealing Kiss by Amanda Uhl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I did nothing but read this book since yesterday. Determined to finish it. I had so many questions and my curiosity had to be fulfilled. Zoey is amazing. The way she protects her loved ones. I can see why she had a hard time letting anyone in. Tristan took me a bit to warm up to. On one hand I understand his desire to take some of that burden away from Zoey but at times it came off forceful.

Corpse Pixie by Sinister Styx – Review by Amber Howard

Corpse PixieCorpse Pixie by Sinister Styx
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Corpse Pixie wasn’t what I imagined it would be. It’s definitely original and interesting. There aren’t any heroes in this book (in my opinion) just lesser of a few evils. It’s a short book. You can read it in a few hours. It’s a page turner. I’ve never read a book with so many hybrid supernatural characters. I really hope there will be more like this one. There’s romance but it’s hard to describe what it’s like. It’s not hallmark movie romance and it kinda creeps up on the characters. I think my favorite character is Seraphine. She seems so interesting and I hope we get to learn more about her life.

The Serpent and the Firefly by Courtney Davis – Review by Amber Howard

The Serpent and the FireflyThe Serpent and the Firefly by Courtney Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Serpent and the firefly was everything that I want in a fantasy novel. Honestly it would also make a fantastic movie or show.

Jade has always been into the dangerous life. She’s attracted to bad guys and trouble always seems to follow her. She has no family of her own and when her ex puts a hit out on her head she enters witness protection and starts over in a new town. Little did she know it was the start of life changing events for her.

Baal is the ultimate bad guy. Literally a demon. He seeks out Jades help but does he have ulterior motives? The prophecy speaks of a woman that could be his undoing. But will be risk it all for love?

This story was full of suspense, thrills, romance and a bit of action. I smiled and gasped while reading. I really hope there’s a follow up story maybe featuring one of the other associates of Baal? Who knows. But please give this story a chance and start reading!

Last King (Legacy of Riverfall Book 1)Last King by Amabel Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a really good book. It captures your attention quickly and doesn’t let go. I enjoyed the description of the creatures.

I really appreciate Maren. She’s very protective of her sister. She’s smart, and brave. Kane is one of those characters that grabs at your heart. He’s the bad guy type but you kind of fall in love with him (at least I did).

This was my first introduction to this author. Her writing is engaging. I highly recommend this book.

A River of Crows was one of the best thrilling mysteries that I’ve read in a very long time. Completely consumed by this this story I wasn’t sure what day it was when I finished.

This is actually the first break that I’ve read by this author. I somehow missed that it was the second in the series, however not reading the first one didn’t take away from this one. It was easy to grasp what was happening.
The most intriguing part is that a few of the are hybrids. Vampires mixed with wolves. The story is very original and entertaining. I couldn’t put the book down. Definitely a great read for those who enjoy the fantasy genre.

To be a Fae Legend (Realm Chronicles Book 3) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Amber Howard

To be a Fae LegendTo be a Fae Legend by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve started and restarted this review so many times. This has easily become one of my favorite series. Titania is such an amazing character. After the death of her brothers and her fathers health declining she had to take the throne of her kingdom. She quickly had to grow up and adapt to the life of doing what’s best for Aubren even if it’s not the hats best for her. She discover she has powers that she cannot tell anyone about. She must protect the Fae from threats that could destroy everything.

This particular story focuses on Titania picking a suitor, meanwhile protecting Aubren from a series of attacks that her mother predicted. These attacks are linked to upper earth and she must help them in order to help her people.

This story was such a page turner and I was completely shocked with the ending. Titania is easily one of the most impressive characters I’ve ever read about. The sacrifices she makes for her people, the growth, and the intellect she uses is outstanding. I also love her cousins. They are super supportive. I hope we get more about them. I also hope Titania is able to reconnect with those she cares about, and maybe one day her mother will come out of her state.

Please if you haven’t read this series go to book one and start there. You won’t be disappointed.

Needing somewhere to warm up while the police finish their investigation, they meet their neighbors Barbara and Ingrid. They become fast friends and together they try to solve the murder case. This story is quirky and fun. There are relatable topics and the story keeps you sucked in. I can’t wait for the next installment.

I’ll Love You Tomorrow (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 3) by Julie Navickas – Review by Amber Howard

I'll Love You Tomorrow (The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy, Book #3)I’ll Love You Tomorrow by Julie Navickas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ll love you tomorrow was the last book in the Templeton siblings series. I read it in one sitting like the others in this trilogy. I think I liked this one the least out of the 3, but it was still very good. It was also the most realistic to me.

My heart broke for Lauren throughout the book. But my heart also broke for Mitch. The couple seemed to have drifted apart. They weren’t in sync anymore and it did a number on their relationship. Honestly I didn’t think they were going to be able to pull it together. Seemed like every time they took a step closer they took 3 steps back. But in the end the couple did what was best for everyone.
I also loved seeing Austin so happy. Overall it was a great ending to a great trilogy.

Noah’s Not So Super Summer (A Super Series–Book 1) by Brittany Tucker – Review by Amber Howard

Noah's Not So Super SummerNoah’s Not So Super Summer by Brittany Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

enjoyed Noah’s Not Super Summer immensely. The author writes in a way that you get sucked in immediately. I started the book a few hours ago and kept telling myself just one more chapter. Next thing I knew I was finished.

Noah is a 12 year old kid whose life is anything but super. He gets bullied by the jocks. His dad has a low paying job and they live pretty poor. Plus a pandemic caused people and animals to develop super powers. His dads job is to help collect evidence from the scenes and being them back to the research lab. After being present for an attack by a mutant, Noah’s life turns around. As he searches for the truth to it all he makes new friends and discoveries that lands him on the radar of some bad people.

This book is great for tweens, teens, young adults and anyone looking for an adventure. Please give it a try and check out Brittany’s other novel. It’s really good.

*Sigh* This is a bittersweet moment. Sweet because I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. Bitter because it’s the last one. This final installment blew my mind away. Ian Troy and his friends must face fate to save everyone. But in doing so will Ian finally turn into the beast he’s fought so hard against? Will he succumb to magic and turn out just like his father? It was captivating and page turning. At times intense. I haven’t enjoyed such a good book in a very long time. It’s definitely worth a read.

Magic-Price (The Crown of Stones, #1)Magic-Price by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So the first book I read in this series was actually book number 2. I knew I had to go back and read the first one. I’m glad I did. Although I found book to enjoyable the information in book 1 helped me make sense of a few things.

This series is a page turner. The creative world the author has created is by far one of the best I’ve encountered. I enjoy fantasy books (one of my favorite genres to read), this exceeded my expectations. I feel like I’m completely submerged in their world as I’m reading. The magic used in the story is a different flavor than I’m used to but it made it more interesting. There is never a full moment when n this story. Each character is unique and adds to the story. Even the ones you despise. Please give this series a chance. You won’t regret it!

Shadow Wolf (Protector Wolf Shifter Series Book 1)Shadow Wolf by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shadow wolf was exactly what I would expect from a supernatural story. You get shapeshifters, vampires, and a human at the center of it all. Plus a bit of romance. There’s an air of mystery with this story and at the end you definitely have a lot more questions. Which is great because I prefer reading series. This is the first book I’ve come across by this author and I’m excited to read others.

Eeek! I absolutely loved this story. When I think of a romance novel this is exactly the type of story I’m looking for. The “bad” guy that has more to him, the small town, Christmas themes, drama, and some steam. This book ticked all the boxes and then some. Throw in a loyal loving family, guy gets the girl, and I’m sold. Easily a new favorite and I cannot wait to part two.

Okay so part two was even better than part one! It has all the same themes and points that I like but with the black sheep of the family. The middle child with anger issues. Ugh I loved Walt finding love and cannot wait for the other siblings to find theirs. I hope we get to see Teds and Robyn’s wedding soon. Maybe James and Sam will figure out their issues and another proposal can be on the horizon. I’m also hoping Roy may find new love. I know it would be a lot for the kids to take in. Especially Ted. But I think Roy deserves more love and happiness too. Hint hint….😅.I cannot wait for book 3!

This was a very good story. Princess Zarina is the youngest of the royal family. She is deemed the most beautiful of the children. Unfortunately it leaves her out of touch with the world. She’s selfish and materialistic. After the dressmaker makes her a special dress, she is tested in ways she never was before. She learns valuable life lessons along the way. I think it’s relatively easy to read. It moves at a decent pace and is ok for kids about 10 years old and up.

Creatures of the NightCreatures of the Night by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It is not my first book by this author nor will it be my last. C.A. King is definitely becoming a favorite.

Things I loved most:
-Strong female lead
-supernatural
-relatable elements ( dating the wrong guy, being different, betrayal)
-easy to read and follow along
-Simone
-the tree
-how much Zoe is coming into her powers

Things I disliked:
-the book ending

Things I would change:
-at times it felt like the story jumped a bit kind of read like how a tv show would take place. It didn’t take away from the story but it had me question if I skipped a page

Anyways I need a sequel. I have to know what happens next. Will they fight the humans or vampires first? Can they reproduce and will the offspring be even more powerful? Will we get a glimpse into what really happened with the black mist?
