Marked for Death by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Marked for Death (Gray Ghost, #6)Marked for Death by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Safety is an illusion.” Let me just say this one quote could not be any more accurate. You learned so many secrets about Keegan that I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was coming up. This book felt like I was watching one of the best action movies out there from beginning to end it never let up. It’s always the strong silent type characters that tend to bring so much joy in a great, romantic suspense book. Kara having to protect some thing that money can’t buy, brings a different type of intense level to the story. Watching as Keegan and Kara both have a push and pull relationship and why or sometimes even brings some tears as you were reading. You are encompassed by some pure, illicit evil. The bad guys throughout the story, will give you the heebie-jeebies and will make you feel so much rage that you want to jump in to the book and slap them silly. I am so sad that this particular series is over, but it will forever be one of my favorite series, especially when it comes to romantic suspense novels. I highly recommend reading from book one to the last which is this book to get the full effect of everything this author has to offer as well as getting to know each and every character intimately in the family that they have built up and continue to grow.

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Moonlit Mirage (Moonlit Destination Series)Moonlit Mirage by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it! I love a book that has romance, mystery, and action, especially if the main catalyst isn’t sex. I thought the author did a great job of introducing us to these characters and gave us just enough to be intrigued to hope to see them in more books. I feel like we got to see just the tip of the iceberg with them as I would expect in a short read. I can tell that this author has a way with words, and can weave a story. I can’t wait to read some of her full novels to really get a sense of her writing and the characters she creates. She left me wanting more. If you like a very quick read that is romantic suspense then you will enjoy this one very much.

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Covert Threat (Gray Ghost, #5)Covert Threat by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been patiently waiting for Trev’s story. This book grabbed you from page one, and it never let go of you. This series has continued to get better and better and the authors writing has come so far from book one. I found that this particular book had so much immense action in it, and adventure that I felt as if I was on a roller coaster. The twists and turns will keep you captivated, in awe, and wondering what is right around the bend. Jules, it’s a beautiful, complex, wonderful character, and watching the interaction between her and Trev play out had my head spinning. While, I was able to figure out the main mystery, it did not take away from the story at all, and made it that much more exciting. If you are looking for a high octane story that has love, mystery, suspense, secrets, and so much more, this is definitely a book you would want to pick up. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning so that you get to know each of the individual main characters it helps tremendously with the amount of connection you continue to feel from book after book.

Vantage Point by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Vantage Point (Gray Ghost, #4)Vantage Point by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Vantage point by Amy McKinley is so far my favorite one in the series. Stella “Red” it’s such a fun character. Her sass, humor, and unapologetic love of family first makes her one heck of a character. While, I found some of her choices to not be smart, I appreciated the fact that it was done out of love, and not because she wasn’t intelligent. I had been waiting to find out more about Hawke and his past, and this author did not disappoint with such a torturous background. I was glad to see Jack get some closure from his past. This series and this author continue to grab onto me and keep me interested, and desiring much much more.

Beneath the Surface (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 3) by Amy McKinley – Review by Colleen Noyes

Beneath the Surface (Gray Ghost #3)Beneath the Surface by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Plane crashes, Russian spies, ex military, heroes, and a love story. What more could you ask for? Jack and Hannah have a past. Neither one of them thought that they would see each other again, and believing that the future was dead. After Jack suffers the loss of his teenage love you can feel that in his mind his chance for happiness is gone. Hannah, having to grow up in such a rigid and difficult childhood that is overwhelmed by loss, has hardened her to everything around her, including a past connection with Jack. When these two encounter each other again , it’s in an unexpected and disastrous way. They have so many obstacles and trust issues to overcome that you have to wonder if there’s any hope at all. Seeing how much Jack has grown from Moments That Define Us, brings a new and refreshing light. Having all of the Gray Ghost guys back in the mix makes this book even more enjoyable. I appreciated the fact that this books time period was during the same time as Chris’s story. As all books that Amy McKinley writes in the series, this story had lots of romance, action, deception, and intrigue. The secret that Hannah discovers after so many years filled me with both anger and sadness. My heart ached for all the loss she had already endured, and then her realizing even more loss in a different way. This book had me from page one to the end and I can’t wait to see what the Gray Ghost guys encounter next.

What a great prequel to the Mafia Elite Series. Getting to know the mafia princesses while they were younger was a real treat and especially getting to know Marissa. I’m so sad this series is finished but can’t wait to see them maybe show up in other places:-) or maybe a secret baby will show up. A girl can hope and dream can’t she? This author has easily become one of my all time favorites and will always be an automatic one click now.

Moments That Define Us (Gray Ghost, #0.5)Moments That Define Us by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Moments That Defined Us by Amy McKinley was a wonderful short story. This is the prequel to the Gray Ghosts series and I loved how much was squeezed into this book. You really got a feel for what the men had gone through in their younger days, how they ended up where they are, and there was even room for tragedy and pain which always helps make a great romantic suspense book. The backstory really helped me to understand these guys on a different level and I can’t wait to finish out the series. This book was an easy four-star read for me and this author never lets me down.

This prequel to the Mafia Elite series didn’t fail to disappoint. Absolutely loved it! I am normally not a fan of a prequel movie or book but this just checked all the right boxes.

It rounded out the characters that we have already met and followed.

A great addition to your reading list – highly recommended!!!

It was a quick read of me, got it done in one sitting. Reading this one just made me love the other books in the series extra. I love that she gave us further background information on all the princesses. I mean can we love them even more? yes , yes we can lmao. This author is one of a kind, an amazing story teller. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us.

Mafia romance what’s not to love! All the Mafia princesses are off at college and still under the watchful eyes of the Five Families. Lil, Em, Sofia, Marissa all were hoping to be able to choose their own husbands but being from a Mafia family most father’s chose their husbands based on what the man could bring to the family. Marissa has been promised to Tony, who she cannot stand and does not want to marry. The girls felt safe in their haven at college until the night of the party during winter break before Marissa was to be married. Marissa had set out to speak with Ivan, who is part of the Russian Bratva and might know something about her sister Camilla who was married into the Russian Bratva. But unfortunately things go wrong and Marissa ends up dead. Who’s to blame and will the girls have their revenge?

I have read EVERY one of the mafia elite novels and truly loved them all. This prequel novella was a book I didn’t even know I needed. I like that we get to see them as younger adults. However I would recommend reading this after completing the series. Whilst this one was good, every book in the series is GREAT and has a lot more romance, spice, and action!

This entire series was absolutely amazing. I got my daughter hooked on it. I loved the variety of characters. I will miss all the characters as the author made them come alive in every book. It was like you were part of the family as they went through life in the mafia.

This prequel was about Marissa who we have heard about in every book but did not know her exact story. We all know she died and that the ladies were all close like sisters. I wish this prequel had been longer as I was not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. Here’s hoping we all get to read about them again.

To the Author: This series has been an amazing ride. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the mafia books. Bravo.

Defiant Princess: A Mafia Elite Series Prequel

If you have read the Mafia Elite Series then you know some of what happened in the past, this lays it all out for us in a nice little story.

Marissa is a name we knew and we caught a glimpse of her and her personality as well as the story behind that night.

There were some gaps filled in for me with some of the history and makes me miss this group. Might have to go back and re-read the series when I have time, but start here.

This book was a lot of fun to read! I’m very into mafia romances, but I’ve yet to read one not only told from a mafia daughters point of view but also MULTIPLE MD’s views.

These are some lovely princesses with a whole lot of personality! What would you expect from a mafia princess though, especially when their lives are all anything but their own.

Each girl has and individual story to be told that weaves into the others, these women are learning how to navigate wanting their freedom to love how an whom they choose, knowing their entire lives that it will never be their choice. All on their last leg of freedom it seems, with impending arranged marriages and familial obligations these girls are ready to do whatever it takes to feel some sort of control, wether it be in the love department or something as simple as one’s passion.

I did not go into this book knowing that it was prequel to a series I’ve been dying to read in its entirety, which is sooooo awesome. I’ve only read one other book from this author, and in the Mafia Elite series but I absolutely loved it so I’m now EVEN more excited to read more in this series. I did read some spoilers looking into this series more, that ruined some surprise coming in the other novels but helped me get more excited to continue reading this authors works. She drops some bombs, expect the unexpected.

I feel like this book COULD be read on its own, but once you read it you’ll be aching for more mafia drama. Im hoping the author puts out more material from the point of view of these women beside the mafia men. Fingers crossed!

This book focuses on the Mafia princess while they are in their senior year of college. They all have grown very close while they’ve been college together because they are the only ones who can understand how their lives are controlled by their fathers. I very much enjoyed getting to know the girls when they were younger. I have already read the Mafia series that follows this prequel and I found all of it to be amazing reads. I wish this book wasn’t so short. This was a great short read and a wonderful start to an awesome series.

I absolutely LOVED this prequel 🖤 I definitely recommend for everyone to read this book even if you have already started or finished the series! Even though I knew a few details of what had happened their senior year from already reading the Mafia Elite Series, it was amazing to read exactly how everything unfolded. I highly recommend to start with this prequel if you haven’t started the series yet. Amy McKinley captured all of the Mafia princesses personalities perfectly in the short amount of pages. It gave you an excellent picture of who they were at their core and what was anticipated to come in their futures. Seeing their senior year in detail was a great addition and gave me much more love for the Mafia princesses.

I love this series with all of my heart and soul and this prequel was fabulous!!!! I would highly recommend reading the Mafia Elite Series in order that you get to know each and every character from the 5 families..then this prequel will take you to the “before”. As I was roped in I love that the strong and mighty women are the stars of this book.

This story takes place in the eyes of Sofia, Liliana, Emiliana and Marissa..and winter break from college is coming and the women want to have a good time with a bit of freedom but what I finally get is also what happens that one fateful date to Marissa…..can I say I need more!!

I love how this author ties in her story and includes every character and the full circle of the
5 families…I am definitely not ready to say goodbye to this series….I am hopeful for more!!

Defiant Princess: A Mafia Elite Series Prequel by Amy McKinley

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. I’ve read every single book in the Mafia Elite Series. Defiant Princess is the very first book in the series. I loved this book and can’t wait for more.

Liliana is the daughter of the five families. When she finds out that her friend is engaged to someone they can’t trust she gets a sick feeling in her stomach. Can she and her other friends save Marissa? The quote I chose for Liliana is: “That might change. At least you have friendship to use as a base.”

Emiliana is doing a little better after everything, but she doesn’t feel right about any of this. Her and her friends want to save Marissa but they don’t know how. It doesn’t help that she’s got a brother who won’t leave her alone. The quote I chose for Emiliana is: “I don’t know. Maybe she feels left out? They go out together to parties and clubs all the time.”

Sofia knows Emiliana needs space but she doesn’t need her brother always around. She is also worried about Marissa and can’t seem to figure out what to do. The quote I chose for Sofia is: “Em needs space. She’s doing well, and the helicopter-brother routine isn’t helping her.”

Marissa is engaged to someone she doesn’t want to be. She wants to finish school and can’t. Things aren’t going to go well at all. The quote I chose for Marissa is: “Am I still dreaming? Are those croissants? Just out of the oven?”

Highly recommended for Mafia Romance Suspense lovers.

I was so excited when I saw that we were getting another book in the Mafia Elite Series. Defiant Princess is a prequel to the series but can be read as a standalone. Amy McKinley brought back all the characters we know and love! She tells the story of the daughters of the five families their senior year of college. They have been enjoying the freedom of being away from home but all know once their senior year is over it back home to be married of or controlled by their families. A wonderfully story of where it all begins full of twists and turns along the way!

Wow I have loved this series from the beginning. In this book we meet the Mafia Princesses. Each one is very strong and determined young women. Each of them want to live their own lives the way the way they want to.

These girls live in a world of danger and while they want to enjoy their last taste of freedom danger and the Mafia life is always there. I really feel for these girls, forced into a life they don’t want, forced to marry against their will and not being able to be with the one they loved makes for a very turbulent life. However for one of the girls it will turn into murder.

The story is fast paced and gripping. It’s a quick read but the author fills so much into the story.

This is the book is the starting of the Mafia Elite Series and everything I didn’t know I was missing. It is a book that you won’t be able to put down. It shows the longing of wanting what the main females in the series can not have. It shows the softer side of all of them before everything happens. The innocent and not so innocent lives that they lead with hopes of something better than what has always been done.
This books gives, so many aspects that I didn’t know I needed that make the whole series come together. Without giving away important details just know that when you read this book if you haven’t read the whole series yet, this is the best one to start with because you will have so much more knowledge to move forward in the series. If you have already read the series you will love being able to connect even more to the characters in this series. It will give you so much more background and really let you feel what they are feeling.
This book had me hooked from the beginning and left me wanting even more. I feel greedy wanting more but this series is one of the best I have read in a long time. You will not be disappointed and will love the story lines of each female character. It is a squick read and a major page turner. You will definitely fall in love with the characters in this book if you aren’t already in love with them.

Defiant Princess is a Prequel to the Mafia Elite Series. I have had the privilege of reading each of these books in this series, and I love them all. This book is a great short read, if you want to get to know the Mafia Princesses before reading the Mafia Elite Series start here. My biggest take away from this is that I wish we could have gotten to know more about “Marissa” in this book. The other girls each have a book dedicated to them, and while I know Marissa’s story ends differently, I wished we could have gotten into her “head” just a little bit more. Either way that is just a personal opinion, the books are fantastic and for that I will give this book and the entire series all 5 stars each!

While I LOVED seeing these characters again I really wanted a newer story. This rehashes the girl’s relationship and the guys in their lives. If you have not read the series you can start here but if you have it doesn’t give any new information. This is a very short story and seems to take place over 1-2 weeks. As I said I really loved seeing these guys and gals again but I just expected something different.

This is the prequel to one of my favourite books series and I just loved getting to spend more time with these characters. I was gutted when the Mafia Elite series came to an end, so was excited to find out that there was going to be a prequel.
With it being a prequel, you know how it’s going to end but I was more interested in going through the journey with these characters who I have absolutely loved reading about. I can say it certainly did not disappoint. I’d love to read even more about this fantastic group of people.
This book takes you through the tragic events of Marissa Rossi. This even is discussed in great detail in the series but you don’t get the full story of what really went down at it was fantastic to finally have this part of the story told in full.
I really hope that we are going to get more from this amazing group of characters as I’m not ready to say goodbye to them yet.
