This book is a wonderful read for both young readers and adults alike. It educated the young children about the World War II, especially about women who took part in the war. The central character in the story, Charlotte Wheeler was one of the Women air force service pilots in WW2 , she flew planes to transport them to a military base.
The story is centered around a mystery involving a crashed plane and its missing pilot. The NCIS finds a note in the crashed plane, which traces it to charlotte wheeler and her family members. When Annie’s mother gets a call from the NCIS, Annie, who is about to go to college, tries to solve the mystery and learns about the women who served during WW2. Annie and her mother, find more letters in the attic and she, along with her boyfriend Ty, try to solve the pieces of the puzzle together with the resources available to them, and succeed eventually.

It is a very cool mystery and both young and old alike can enjoy this book. I am thinking of introducing this book to my young readers at home as well. This is the fourth in the Annie Tillary series, I have not read the first three. I now look forward to read the remaining books of the series.

The Mystery of the Lost Avenger is a wonderful story. It’s a cross between Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. I love the history that is in it. Learning who someone was in your family is always great. The wreckage of a World War II plane is found in the mountains of Appalachia. It mysteriously crashed in 1943 on its way to a naval base.

Carol Wheeler receives a letter in the post from the NCIS to say that they have found a note in a plane which crashed in 1943 and it has been linked to her grandmother Charlotte Wheeler, but she cannot believe that they are talking about the same woman, so she decides to go back to her family home and have a look in some of the trunks that have been stored in the attic, she leaves very suddenly when someone slams a door and then disappears into thin air. Annie Tillery is about to head to University and is almost done packing when her dad comes for a visit, as they talk about her kitten, Annie makes some coffee, while she is doing this her Auntie comes over to the house as well. When they all have refreshments, Annie’s dad gives her a copy of the letter that her mum received and is dumbfounded and extremely curious at the same time as she doesn’t know a lot about her mum’s side of the family and to now find out that she was an instrumental and important part of World War II it is a lot to take in.

When Carol turns up the next day with the things that she has found in the attic, it is the start of a mystery which they all want to solve and so they start with reading some love letters between Charlotte and her fiance, but as they are studying them, they begin to see that there are little strings of numbers and borders which aren’t normally on the stationary used in the armed forces at the time. They decide to bring Annie’s boyfriend Ty in on the action as he is good with codes and when they do manage to crack it, a whole new piece of the puzzle is revealed and how it connects to the note found in the plane, but it also asks a whole new set of questions as well. As they continue to decode the letters and read through them, they realise that they need more information, so they go back to the attic to look for more clues and when they do, the ghost returns and slams some more doors, this again leads to more important clues to the mystery.

As they find the need to travel more, Ty takes to the air as a newly qualified pilot to take them between their homes, as he is going through the checklists, Annie feels a connection to the plane, as if she has been in one before, despite it being her first time and when they talk to the people on the airfield about what they are finding out, everyone wants to be kept updated on their findings. Will Annie, her family and her boyfriend be able to find out why the plane crashed and what Annie’s great grandmother’s part was in it? This story is full of mystery and intrigue as you unravel the tangled web of clues to find out what really happened to the downed plane and why, a great read for all ages.

The Mystery of the Lost Avenger is the first I have read by Linda Maria Frank. It seems like it is part of a series, as there is several mentions of Ty and Annie’s past adventures. The book says it is geared toward 8 to 10 year old, but I have a 9 and 11 year old, and think its a little long for that age group. Definitely a youth novel, the writing is basic and easy to understand. The story has a lot of mystery to it, and we do not discover the answers until the very end. Despite feeling like the characters should have turned everything over to the professionals, and I was hoping for a more climatic ending, but it was a good book. I would read more if its a series. There is a touch of WWII history, which I love, but it doesn’t go too deep. There are a lot of characters, who all seem to be related or connected in some way. Very close tight knit group. I recommend this book, as it was entertaining and well written. The mystery remained as such, and kept me hooked until the end.

This is my first book by this author and the story was amazing. A kids’ adventure mystery, the story focuses on the main character (Annie Tillery) and her late great-grandmother.

Charlotte Wheeler was a WWII WASP, women assigned to build and pilot planes to naval bases. A love letter written by Charlotte to a naval pilot was found in the recently discovered wreckage of an Avenger, a plane that had crashed in 1943. The NCIS tracks down Charlotte’s granddaughter and great-granddaughter. A trip to the family home leads to an even bigger mystery; just who was Charlotte, why was a note written by her, in the plane that had gone down, and who was trying to kill her? A fun story full of mystery and ghosts, I highly recommend this book.

THE MYSTERY OF THE LOST AVENGER (ANNIE TILLERY MYSTERIES) by LINDA MARIA FRANK. This book was so good. It is meant as a kids story but I enjoyed just as much as a kid would! Its the story of the women involved in Aviation back in 1943 during WWII. When Annie, Charlotte’s great grand daughter finds a note written by Charlotte in one of these old planes the mystery begins. This plane had disappeared in in mysterious circumstances so the whole family gets involved in finding out the real story. Charlotte tested these plane before battle and she had fallen in love with one of the pilots. After they find the note they begin to look in their grandmothers old things and find more clues. This is such a fun mystery. I think kids and adults alike will enjoy this fun read.

This book is the fourth book in the series from Linda Maria Frank’s Annie Tillery Mystery books. They are categorized as a young reader book series. However, if you love to read “young adult” books like myself, then you will absolutely love this book and her series. I LOVED THIS BOOK! I would give it 10 stars if I could. I loved that it took me on a mystery back to the World War II era involving a crashed plane and its missing pilot and her treasures. I thought her storytelling of the mystery solving processes in this era were fantastic because they certainly didn’t have all the technology back then that they do today. I think that for children it’s especially important for them to be able to read about the differences in the eras and how the processes were so different in solving the mystery. In my opinion, I think that young adults of all ages will enjoy this book. Even though this is part of a series, each book is a stand-alone and you don’t have to read in any order. I think these books should be available in all school libraries and the kids’ reading lists. I look forward to the reading the next book in the series.

This is a children’s book (for ages 8-10) and is 194 pages. This story follows Annie and her mother as they investigate why a plane crashed in 1943. Annie’s great grandmother, Charlotte, tested planes and flew them to the bases. Her fiancé flew the planes in the war. When a plane crashed, a note was discovered and is traced to the surviving family members. Something does not seem right. Annie and her mother decide to go digging in the attic for answers. They find love letters written to Charlotte’s fiancé and there appears to be a code within these letters. My son loved reading this adventure story.

The Mystery of the Lost Avenger is a cute mystery story. It is the fourth story in the Annie Tillery Mystery. I haven’t read the other three mysteries, but this was a fun, quick read.

Annie is about to go off to college, but during her last couple weeks before moving, her mom gets a call from the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) about a letter from her Great Grandma. Instead of relaxing the last bit before leaving for school, she finds herself in the middle of a mystery and learning about the woman of WWII who were their own kind of heroes.

When thr mystery just keeps unfolding, Annie and Ty (Annie’s boyfriend) keep using resources they’ve met through other mysteries.

This was a fun mystery based on family ties and history. A cold case is generally tough, but Annie and Ty and the rest of the bunch solved the case, no problem!

This was my first time reading this author and I was not disappointed! Linda introduced me to some new, fascinating characters that were reminiscent of Nancy Drew and Ned. I truly enjoyed how she pulled in the WASPs and integrated it into a mystery steeped in our history of WWII.

Even though there was a previous book in this series, I did not feel like I missed out on anything that was pertinent to this story line. (Although, I will go back and find the first book!) Definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a strong, female character, family centric mystery and history!

THE MYSTERY OF THE LOST AVENGER (ANNIE TILLERY MYSTERIES) by LINDA MARIA FRANK was a story full of mystery and paranormal. This book was such a fun read. The mystery get you right on edge.

Annie Tillery’s great-grandmother Charolette was in love with a pilot. She tested the planes while the pilot would fly them to battle. NCIS traced charlotte to Annie and Annie mother’s Carol as the last surviving member of her family. They went to the attic to investigate how the plane could have crashed. Carol’s ghost is trying to reach out to Annie and tell her something what could it be? With the help of her boyfriend Ty Egan would she be able to find it?

I loved every page of this book. There are similar books in the Annie Tillery mystery and the mystery continues. I can’t wait to read more of these mysteries.

Take a step back in time. With this excellent story. This full length novel has much to tell. Even a little history, romance and NCIS comes in this story.

A WW 11 plane is found after many years of being missing. Inside holds many secrets, a love letter and some answers to important secrets. Annie Tillerys Great Grandmother Charlotte, was in love with a pilot, she also tested the planes before they were used in battle. Charlotte knew there was something wrong, secret sabotage so did the other women in her crew. This is her story.

Linda Marie Frank has written this story. I truly enjoyed reading her story. This story has a little of everything. History, mystery, a ghost and a tear or twenty. You will find this story is fast paced and well written. I love the strong independent women and their jobs during war time. Linda Marie Frank you are new to me, but be assured I will be reading more from you. Well Done Linda Marie Frank. Well Done!!

The Mystery of the Lost Avenger is the fourth book in Linda Maria Frank’s Annie Tillery Mystery series. Aimed at confident young readers, the series follows Annie, who in this book is getting ready to go to college, as she solves intriguing mysteries.
The Mystery of the Lost Avenger takes readers back in time to 1943, to learn about the women involved in aviation during WWII. Annie’s great-grandmother, Charlotte, was a WASP, flying planes to transport them to military bases. When a note written by Charlotte is found in the remains of a crashed plane which disappeared in mysterious circumstances, the whole family gets involved in untangling the mystery of what really happened.
I loved that this book focused on a part of history I didn’t know much about, and it would be a great read for mystery-loving children who are learning about WWII in school. It was also really fun learning about how Annie, as well as Charlotte back in the 1940s and the professionals at NCIS, approached solving mysteries. There are codes to crack, and forensic evidence to process.
For me, this is a five-star book. It’s a really fun read and gave me lots to think about. I haven’t read any of the earlier books in the series and was able to follow the story without any issues, but now that I’ve read it I’m keen to go back and read about the other adventures Annie’s had!
