Nite Fire: Slash & Burn (Book 4) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Can I start with? WOW! Just WOW! I have never been so intrigued with an audible Book. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time I listened to this the 4th book in the series. Really this author never disappoints! Dahlia, a shape shifter, a dragon, returns to hunt monsters, as well as  the Blight that continues to spread. She brings with her new team members. As she must keep the street cleaned of the unwanted. Can she and her team put a stop to the invasion of the human world? At this point I say please read the first 3 books in this exciting series. The Author for this series has really pulled out all stops. Her books are guaranteed to keep your interest. My world was stopped for 15 hours, I just had to finish listening to the book. This author never repeats actions or situations in her story. Her characters are strong as well as independent.  I love that the main character is female. Dahlia proves her strength and determination to complete what needs to be done. Monsters and Blight be warned.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shamrock and Clovers is a light-hearted short read that is very entertaining and inspiring. I love how the author took two characters, who are opposite of one another and brought them together. In my opinion, the author truly describes “faith, hope, and love” in this story of unexpected young love in someone who is completely different from what you are usually attracted to. Even though the title of this book refers to a representing of “luck”, the two main characters are running out of luck. Will they be able to put their differences aside and be a couple? You will have to read this amazingly written story to find out!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! What a fun, sweet romantic story the author has written about a bakery owner that finds love when she least expects it. The author did such a great job, as she usually does, with the chemistry between the characters. This was a quick read, but I didn’t want to put it down. Also, might I mention that there are recipes included for different baked goods? Yeah, and I tried one of them last night for the macadamia nut cookies. They are delicious. And they are all gone. I can’t wait to try the others. If you like heart-felt romances then please pick up this book. You won’t be disappointed.

Until There Was You by G. Colgrove – Review by Katie Matthews

Until there was youUntil there was you by G. Colgrove
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a great romance read and I loved every minute of it. This is a new to me author and I found their writing was just so easy to red, the characters were likeable and the plot was easy to follow. I was rooting for Regan and Jeremy the whole way through this book they seemed to just have this instant connection that wasn’t forced, it felt natural and genuine – they liked each other for who they were and nothing else. The emotions and how the characters were feeling really came across in the story, the author did a great job with that. I liked that it was dual POV it always helps me understand both main characters.
Overall this was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to other readers.

I absolutely loved this book! It was such a fun read and I have to say this author never disappoints! She really does create some wonderful short stories that are wonderful to read. I loved the characters Clover and Patrick (Shamrock) – Clover, bless her, definitely isn’t lucky in live (considering her name) and she was such a lovely person, she definitely tried everything she could to look after her Grandmother and the love she had for her really shone through. This story had some funny moments and also some really emotional ones. I loved every minute of it and would highly recommend it to other readers!

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla) by S.B. Alexander – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla, #1)The Hunted by S.B. Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I could NOT put this book down!! I read it so quickly and I can’t wait for more, so I can devour them as well!! In this spin-off series, the Vampire vs human world is hard to navigate. Layla is a Vampire hunter. It is what her family has been doing for generations. She knows what to do. She’s been warned all her life that vampires will seduce you with their charms to get you close and then your theirs! This last job was supposed to be easy. In and out. Snatch and grab. Collect the money and then her and her sisters would be free. But Layla and her sisters are hypnotized by this powerful Navy SEAL vampire, Sam. Layla knows that she should run far away, but he puts her on edge and it’s frustratingly confusing. It’s like she is drunk when around him. Her sister’s lives are in danger and of course she needs his help to save them! Ugh. Just her luck! It’s hard to trust an enemy, especially one that can kill you in a second! But can she put her hunter instincts away long enough to save her sisters? Or will she tick off this powerful vamp and end up dinner! With a bloodsucker as a wing man anything can happen. Read this slow burn suspense with snarky banter and action to find out more!! You will be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book to arrive, just like me!!

Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony (Sinful Seven, #2)Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony by J.C. Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I must be honest, I have read novels prior to this one with a very similar premise that I was completely engulfed by the characters within those pages, and was pleasantly surprised to find that Clara and Zee as we have come to know him as, also hit the mark for me. There is something to be said for two completely different people (and demons in this case,) that want to build each other up, and not tear each other down, despite their differences and goals/desires. I quite enjoyed the way that this story is told via third person narrative, though allows the reader to feel the emotions and connect with both main characters and understand the supporting characters as well. Personally, I think my quaint little hometown is in dire need of a shop like The Sweet Spot, as I not only could picture it in my mind but found myself craving home baked goods throughout this adventure.

Overall, the world building, along with the twists and turns throughout the novel, and the development of Clara and Beelzebub (Zee,) had me turning each page in anticipation of what was to come next. It didn’t take me long to get through this novel, and I formed an attachment to those within these pages. I very much enjoyed the authors writing styles and commend them on their creativity when it came to mixing it up a bit! I was on the edge of my seat during the last little bit, practically yelling as I devoured the last few chapters. Overall, a fantastic getaway from reality, and I will be returning for more! Highly recommend.

This was such a fantastic read! I absolutely loved it. I was so gripped by what I was reading. I loved that the author wrote the story using multiple POV’s it really does make for a more interesting read as you get to understand all of the characters and their inner thoughts. Kally and Clark’s story was such an emotional rollercoaster, I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out just what was going to happen. I really did feel for Kally and everything that she went through – she really did go through some every dark times and I could have cried for on so many occasions. Clark was just amazing and again with everything he went through I could have cried for him too! Both characters were amazing and I wanted them get through everything and be together. I am so excited to read the next part of the story although I feel it’s going to be another emotional one!

What a nice book! The artwork is beautiful and the story is sweet and interesting. I feel like this book would help any kid with their imagination, because it would be so cool to have a pencil that kind of predicted your adventure for the day. The trading scenes were super cute, I think most kids would trade bananas for a worm! Easy and great read for kids, looking forward to sharing it with my nephews.

Another great audio book in this series and one that I really enjoyed. I think that the author has a great imagination and that really comes across in her stories, they are so creative and really well written. This book picks up with Dahlia and after everything that happened in the previous story I was looking forward to hearing more. I would definitely recommend listening to the books in order. Dahlia has definitely been on a journey over these books and it’s been exciting following her story along with the other characters.
This is a highly recommended series and book – I am definitely looking forward to more. Again I feel like I need to mention to narration of the story as it was excellent, the narrator really brought the story to life and I enjoyed listening.

Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony (Sinful Seven, #2)Beelzebub The Gift of Gluttony by J.C. Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, that Zee likes to get into trouble. This story is a fascinating one. Beelzebub is the demon of gluttony (and a liar to boot). He gets himself mixed up in a bit of a scuffle that involves Clara, a bakery owner with a heavenly glow. He tells a whopper of lie that he gets caught in. She boots him and tries to get back on the right path. Can they come back together? Are the meant to be? This is definitely a story you must read to believe. The characters are so well=written. I thought Max was a little bit of a jerk until I realized there was a crush there. He and Anjo (the dog) are just watching out for her. Clara is very sensitive to other’s emotions. It can wipe her out. She is still pretty badass. One tough cookie is my best description for her. I love the descriptive details. Everything Zee touches or does, the author gives so much detail too. The plot, though it seems a little disjointed at times, still runs together effortlessly. This is a terrific story for romance lovers and paranormal lovers together. I recommend it. I will definitely be looking for more by this author.

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla) by S.B. Alexander – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla, #1)The Hunted by S.B. Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just loved this new take on this paranormal romance! Sam is a vampire who works for the Vampire Navy Seals and is sought after for his potent blood. Layla is a vampire hunter searching for Sam, but not sure why. Layla and her sisters were hired to kidnap Sam. On the night they attempt to do this, all hell breaks loose when their toxin doesn’t completely work to subdue the vampires and they piss off not only Sam but another ruthless of their kind. Sam lets them live, but he knows they will return to him for his help for a handful of reasons. The other aspect plaguing the situation is that Sam feels something he doesn’t understand for the human. These problems come together to create a very steamy, action-packed tale.
I truly enjoyed not only the plot of this story, but the characters. The plot discusses the supernatural world differently than many others and when you have read a million of these types of books, a new take is refreshing. The characters had personalities that jumped off the page. You couldn’t help but love the badass sisters even though they made some stupid decisions along the way. Sam, even in all of his uncontrollable inner monologue, you could see how deep he cared for Layla and how that grew. However, the best part about this was how the relationship developed: dysfunctions to hot as hell to yearning to OMG! I am truly excited for the next book!

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack Book 1) by Nicole Howl – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Claiming My Mate is a romantic fantasy about a girl named Lily, who serves the royal wolf pack family as a “slave”. Lily tries to keep her head down and do the job, since many find the wolves to be mean and intimidating. Unfortunately, one of those wolves in the royal guard has taken an “interest” in her and because of his position feels that he can take whatever he wants from her. (Trigger warning – sexual assault) In the midst of all her troubles, the prince, Jason, finds himself attracted to her scent after she was cleaning his room. His wolf senses were screaming at him that this girl was special and needed to be “claimed”. Lily finds herself between a rock and a hard place – on one hand the prince is claiming her as his soulmate, while the royal guard just wants to claim her. What will she do and how far will each of these men go to claim what they believe is theirs?
I for the most part enjoyed this book. I thought the story line idea was a little different from other wolf fantasy books which interested me. I also always enjoy a good read where a wolf wants to love their soulmates so hard you can’t help but fall in love with them. Well, I was slightly disappointed. The main aspect of what could have been better was the character development. Here you have a good premise, but no build up. For example, Lily, you could see there was a little fire in her, but she was in no position of power. However, once she makes her choice (which comes pretty quickly) all of a sudden she is turning into a woman who has balls of steel and confidence. I thought it was just weird that the character development just went from one extreme to another. In addition, Jason, who is prince and supposedly powerful, wasn’t displayed that way in the writing. In each fight scene he gets extremely hurt and just seems to me if you are that powerful you should be a little more resilient when being described in these scenes. This is not to say I will not read the next book, I still got the feeling that the books will get better so I am invested in at least one more installment.

Finding Melodie and The Wedding Special Boxset by Laura Rossi – Review by Jenni Bishop,

Melodie Boxset (Melodie #1-2)Melodie Boxset by Laura Rossi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love it when an author has boxsets because you don’t have to worry about the hassle of chasing up book after book.
Finding Melodie and The Wedding are great romantic comedies. Both books are short but sweet and well written. You will fall in love with the characters and the humour is fun and engaging. This heart-warming story sees two opposites attract. It also made me reminisce about my time spent there on my visits overseas.
Refreshing, witty, light-hearted are only a few words that describe this romantic comedy. Grab a copy a light refreshment and settle in for a great escape from real life.

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack Book 1) by Nicole Howl – Review by Alexandria Richard

Claiming My Mate (Wolf Hollow Pack, #1)Claiming My Mate by Nicole Howl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A shorter read (few hours). Seemed contemporary but I don’t remember any technology so I could be wrong about that. Paranormal alternate reality where there are shifters, here wolves, who create their own packs. The Alpha of the pack head up the royalty line, and they keep lower level shifters (Omegas) and humans as servants. Lily is a human servant who has had a rough time at the hands of Royal Guards and just making it through in a life where she’s the bottom of the Totem-pole. Jason is the Prince of the pack and is expected to be the next Alpha, but he’s harboring secrets that threaten his status and security.

I really enjoyed learning more about Jason’s character and who he is outside of being the Prince and next Alpha. I thought him and Lily worked well together as a couple and I can’t wait to see them grow together. There’s not much on screen romance here, with book 1 acting like the introduction to the world and characters .

I loved the strength we see from Lily at times, but I wish we got to see her backbone in other moments. I hope she starts to trust in herself more and stops sacrificing herself for others, no matter her good intentions. I loved her relationship with her friend and fellow slave Amara.

Warning, book 1 ends on a cliffy (cliffhanger).

CW: off screen sexual assault, sexual intimidation, slave scenario, domestic violence, abuse against women

This is a new author to me and I have not read the previous books, but figured out each book is dedicated to a sister! In this book, the story is around Vanessa and an alien she meets Arkon. Vanessa has a divorce after a traumatic marriage on Earth. When the soldiers rescue her and her sisters in Saedo, she decides to go to Saedo as there is nothing left on Earth. She meets Arkon, and sparks fly. But Can Vanessa get over her traumatic past and go closer to Arkon? That is the crux of the story. It is a sweet romance and sci-fi fiction. I would like to go back and read the other books.

Reunion in the Outback ( Welcome to Bunya Junction Book 4) by Nicole Flockton- Review By Heather Lopez Renteria

Reunion in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #4)Reunion in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read this whole series of The Outback and love it. These books can be read as a standalone series if you don’t want to read the three books before. I love that Yolanda and Michael reconnect and have chemistry. Their marriage was in shambles that left them separated from each other than reunited in the outback of Bunya Junction. This book was emotional and with a splash of drama and marriage oops but also shows that love can overcome anything if you really try. I hope there will be another book in this series. It has became one of my favorites.

5 stars!

Very fun murder mystery. I kept thinking I knew who did it, but I was always proved wrong. Ruby seems like a sweet and talented woman, I am so glad she found a good friend in Nova and Sunshine. It seemed that she couldn’t catch a break with her being a witness to 2 dead bodies, and having a hard time making friends, but in this book she really blossomed from beginning to end. The story is easy to follow along with, and it was very unique and genius to me, how the characters were related and the way Ruby and Nova solve the murder without the cops. Watching them go out of their way to find their own evidence and sift through all the details is a treat to watch. The ending wrapped up nicely and I hope to see more of Rudy. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the prequel first, it would have been nice if I had known how Ruby met Sunshine and where she comes in. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

5 Stars!

I was really into this book. Do I want to live on a weird alien planet with super attractive men? Yes I do. Do I care if they are green? Not at all. Vanessa and Arkon are good together, she had ended a terrible marriage, and he has trust issues with women after his last girlfriend. They are both complete opposites which makes them perfect together. I was happy to see how Arkon was willing to show Vanessa his love and patience for her, and that he would in no way be like her ex husband. Vanessa is tough, after what she went through she learned to be a fighter and when the squirmurs come she readily takes up a gun and fights. This planet is fun and I really look forward to the next book. I also really liked in the beginning, the picture of the universe and where the different planets are laid out.

Having eloped and leaving their quaint hometown when they were just out of school, Yolanda stayed home with their daughter and made makeup tutorials on YouTube. Michael was a successful executive chef, working his way up from dishwasher. So, when Yolanda suddenly announces she’s leaving and taking their daughter, Michael is blindsided. How could he convince his wife that they still belonged together? I thoroughly enjoyed this latest book in the series. I was drawn into the story and loved every minute of it.
