A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Shelly Kittell

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a different retelling of the story of Apollo and Hyacinth. I found it interesting, to say the least. The story is intriguing and very engaging if you are into Greek myths. Apollo, Temi, and the rest of the Gods are so full of personality that you are waiting for lightning bolts to fly (from Zeus). There are some choppy spots but it does all come together. I did enjoy the plot twists thrown into the story because you had no clue they were coming. It is a story written for the young adults but all ages may enjoy this. I recommend it.

I enjoyed this book of second chance romance. It had a bit of everything, surprise run in, rekindled feelings, jealous outsider and even a helpless animal.
I enjoyed these two and found myself rooting them on. This was a quick read for me and I will be reading more, i hope we see more of them or even the friend of our main character in this story.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was amazing in in every which way! In my honesty, that is an understatement . The author wrote a story that not only captivated me, but wrote a story that flowed ever so nicely, as well as there were no gaps in the writing, everything made sense, and the words fit perfectly with every scene!

I loved the compelling intrigue that this book gave to me as I read. It was as if a essence of its own nature surrounded me as I read through. Maybe eerie in its own way. It was as if at times I knew something unexpected or eye opening could end up happening. The fantasy aspect of this book was not only appealing, but beautiful and mysterious in its own way. Let me not forget to add in the action that mixed with the characters in the world they resided in was beyond amazing. I loved this book so much. Also enjoyed reading and watching Elodie and Sebastian start off as the characters they were, and become by the end the characters that they became! Wonderful character growth! Loved that and this book!

Again, amazing book that truly sucks you in and holds you close to the point where you can feel its own heart beat. Wonderful writing by a truly talented author, and the story line was spot on in truth. It was a wonderful read that exceeded my expectations! Highly recommend this must read book/author!

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a forbidden romance that pulled me in from the very first page. This book explores what happens when a mortal and a demigod fall in love. Apollo comes across as arrogant at first but as he begins to fall in love he changes for the better and becomes this amazing god that you can’t help but love. The two start out at each other’s throats but that changes as they spend more time together and truly get to know each other. They face so many challenges along the way because they truly come from two different worlds. There’s action, romance, adventure, and incredible mythology all wrapped up in one book. I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait to read the second book in this series. This is one book you are definitely not going to want to miss.

Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance (The Casket Girls Book 1)Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the series and a great start to this dark, paranormal Vampire romance, is right up my ally. I love a great paranormal tale.

AD has done a good job of showing us what really lurks in the dark. The story stared out a bit slow but the story line is well-developed the world-building was very well done, the characters that are interesting and the mystery and mythology of the tale drew me in. Sacrifice and fear, demon’s and curses, love and darkness, mystery illnesses, dark dreams and you have a compelling story that any paranormal lover will love.

Greer doesn’t know if it is night or day, what is real and what is dreams, of a dark knight that could be her saviour or worst enemy. She suddenly finds herself in the same boat as the others. They have been torn away from their lives which have been turned upside down with fear and the darkness of becoming one of the Casket girls.

The history of the Casket Girls of New Orleans is legendary. The tales of vampires and ghosts, mysterious and illicit goings on and much more has been brought to life by AD in this dark paranormal tale.

The Wish-EaterThe Wish-Eater by Claire Luana
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Wish-Eater is a fantasy fairy tale romance with messages hidden within. Claire has created a unique world that is not always light hearted. It is a world of pain and suffering for Elodie as she yearns for a better life and finding a mythical, wish-granting creature she has only heard rumours about. It is also a story about hope and heart’s desires but beware because just like a genie in a bottle not every wish may turn out how you expect it. The cast of many characters are a mixture of funny, crazy and loveable, quirky and grumpy, and some you will love and some you will not.

Does such a create exist? Where does one even start to look for one such creature? Will Elodie learn is that the true power for change is within her?

Unabridged is a cute Romance story, about seconds chances. I really loved both of the main characters. The supporting characters are well developed too. I love the friendship between Angelina and her work BFF. The story was a good balance of sweet, funny and thrill.
I was a little sad about the gap between the ending of the actual book and the epilogue. I felt like the ending was left hanging… the next book in the series doesn’t seem like it continues but I hope it does at least a little bit.

This was a great read! I’m so glad I took a chance on this book and picked it up. The cover is gorgeous and the blurb just sealed my decision in reading it. I’ve seen a few reviews with complaints on the language being modern, and while it is it didn’t really bother me. I consider it being a creative right of sort. This was a really enjoyable story, and I absolutely can not wait to read the next installment. I loved the prose in this novel, everything was so beautifully written and described I became lost within the pages. Kudos to this author for writing a very entertaining novel!

At first, I was already intrigued by the cover of the book…it is beautiful! This story of Greer and Theron was so good and I loved the premise that the story starts in the 1700’s.

Greer finds herself in unknown territory, on a boat and no recollection on how she got there. She arrives in New Orleans living in a convent with nuns and other girls (known as the casket girls) as well. She has these dreams, a dark knight….Theron, whom must live among the humans, is cursed and only thinks of Greer as “food’ but then it changes, he is truly drawn and cares for Greer. Will Theron and Greer be able to help the other “casket girls” from their fate…

Twists and turns, demons and vampires! Such a good read and looking forward to book 2.

This is the second book that I have read by this author and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! The Wish-Eater is a story about wanting what you don’t or can’t have, and I think that theme is relatable to a lot of readers. The author’s writing style sucks you into the story with vivid, descriptive language and beautiful world-building. I thought this story had fairytale vibes and I absolutely loved that. I was so excited to see a new release from Claire Luana, although I still want to go back and read some of her older books as well. Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Angela Hayes

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books #1 – 5) contains the entire Reigning Hearts series by K.G. Fletcher. This is a Boxset you will want to get your hands on, especially if you love sinfully sexy, swoony, and enticing stories that will keep you captivated from beginning to end.
The boxset contains:

RUN TO THE SEA (Book #1):
5 Stars

Run to the Sea is the first book in the Reigning Hearts Series by K.G Fletcher. I love Ms. Fletcher’s books, so I was really happy to get my hands on this one.
We meet Thomas and Emeline who were childhood best friends- supporting each other through some difficult moments in their childhood. They talked about the future, sharing their hopes and dreams- but all that gets put aside when Thomas ends up working in New York City. He’s back in town after his grandfather’s death, which has resulted in Thomas inheriting a beach house. He soon runs into Emeline, and their past connection quickly comes bubbling to the surface- like all that time never passed and their bond is still strong. But there are hidden feelings- which takes them on an unexpected path. This is a great friends-to-lovers/second chances story full of rediscovery, choices, listening to your heart, trusting yourself, being true to yourself, and taking a chance.
The story is sweet, romantic, touching, and engaging. As I would expect from Ms. Fletcher, it is really well written, and the characters are quite endearing. I was hooked right from the beginning and read the story in one sitting.

STARS FALL FROM THE SKY (Book #2):
4 Stars

Stars Fall From the Sky is the second book in the Reigning Hearts Series by K.G Fletcher. This was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. I really recommend reading with a box of tissues close at hand- because you’re going to need plenty. The story is a very emotive second chances romance- with a friends to lovers element, too. It plucked at my heartstrings so often, that it became a melody in my heart. The story is everything from tragic, to sweet and romantic. There is love, loss, grief, feelings of betrayal, ghosts of the past, trouble moving on, being stuck in the past, drama, healing, learning to love again, a ‘small town’ environment, chemistry, real life realism, touching & tender moments, cute little additions, wonderful characters, an engaging storyline- and most of all, it is a story with hope, and finding happiness after tragedy.

A SUN SO BRIGHT (Book #3):
5 Stars

A Sun So Bright is my new favourite book in the Reigning Hearts Series by the very talented K.G Fletcher. I know I always say this, but I really do love all Ms. Fletcher’s books, so I was really happy to find this had arrived on my Kindle- and I put everything else aside to read it.
This is a wonderful billionaire romance, with a twist. Because, in this story it’s the leading lady who is the billionaire, and her leading man is a hardworking guy from the suburbs, who is struggling to get by. Fiona has been very unlucky in love- the men in her social circle are either already in committed relationships, or too daunted by her incredible wealth to even approach her- while others are blatant Golddiggers. She’s tired of being alone, seeing her friends so happy in their relationships, and being the only single at any functions they attend. After a disastrous New Year’s Eve function, Fiona finds herself in an upscale bar just before the stroke of midnight. There she meets hunky barman Chris who immediately captures her attention. The many glasses of Champagne she’s imbibed make her bold enough to give him a New Year’s kiss when the clock strikes midnight. A kiss that has her mind swirling with possibilities. Chris could definitely be the answer to her social dilemma. And so, a ‘business’ deal is struck. I won’t go into any more detail, as I really don’t want to give too much away. Suffice to say that this book is worth the read to discover where this arrangement leads- and if these two can keep things strictly business. Or will they blur the lines of their arrangement? After all, their chemistry is intense, and Chris loves the challenge Fiona presents. He’s determined to strip away all the haughtiness and her icy demeanour, and uncover the real woman beneath the facade. While Fiona loves that Chris isn’t just sexy as sin- he’s attentive, caring, interesting, and makes her feel centred, calm, and happy. But coming from such vastly different backgrounds, and with such different lives- things aren’t going to be quite so easy. Add in a little danger and drama- and this story really wouldn’t let me put it down- reading it all in one sitting.
I really loved this story- and way more than I thought I would, especially since I really wasn’t sure I could come to like Fiona. She came across as a rich B*tch- a judgemental and materialistic snob who only cared about herself and her ‘image’. But as the story unfolded, I got to see that she was really hiding behind her money- using it to sooth away her unhappiness and loneliness. But it really wasn’t working. On the surface she appeared to have everything anyone could ever want or need- a life of luxury, an enviable lifestyle, lots of friends, a beautiful home, and everything available at her beck and call. But in reality, she was so very lost and alone. Only partway into the book I started really loving her. Now, Chris on the other hand was quite a swoon-worthy creation by Ms. Fletcher; completely charming, sweet, caring, kind, attentive, very endearing- and OH SO SEXY!!! They really are perfect for each other- two different worlds colliding, and the sparks fly.
The story is completely captivating- romantic, touching, engaging, and memorable. Definitely my favourite of the series so far!!! I really can’t wait to see what K.G. does next!!!

I’LL SEE YOU AGAIN (Book #4):
5 Stars

I’ll See You Again is the fourth book in the Reigning Hearts Series by K.G Fletcher. This I such a sweet, touching, captivating, and romantic story- but still manages to pack quite an emotional punch. After reading Book Three, A Sun So Bright- and loving it soooo much, I really didn’t think I could love any other instalment as much as that one, but this book certainly gave ASSB a real run for its money!
This is a steamy Rockstar romance, with an opposites attract element- making for a fun read. But then Ms. Fletcher twists the story and delivers quite an emotional wallop that left me wondering how things would ever get back on track. I love how Ms. Fletcher always manages to weave some unexpected detail into her stories which never fail to surprise me, and keep me clamouring for more.
I loved meeting Reid (Mac), he’s such a great character. And after meeting Nicky in A Sun So Bright, I was really happy that she got her own story. These two really were perfect for each other. Catching up with Chris and Fiona from the previous book was a wonderful bonus, too.

A COLD CREEK CHRISTMAS (Book #5):
5 Stars

I knew as soon as I saw that K.G Fletcher had written a Christmas romance, that it would be wonderful- and she didn’t let me down. I would love to see this made into a movie- it’s such a sweet, swoony, and steamy story that made my little heart go pitter-pat!
I love everything about the Christmas season- but my favorite part is being able to binge Christmas books and movies- and this book has zipped to the top of the list as one of my firm favourites in the Reigning Hearts series.
This is everything the blurb promised it to be- a warm, fuzzy, steamy, heartfelt Holiday Romance, with a touch of Christmas magic.

So, what are you waiting for? So much to love about this boxset, and the best part is having all five books at hand with no waiting between instalments.
Recommended for all true romantics- especially if you love your romances to sizzle while you read.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, K.G. Fletcher!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Unabridged is the second book in the Lovestruck series by Melinda De Ross. This may be the second book in the series, but it can be read as a standalone, in fact, the series can be read in any order without encountering any issues.
Unabridged is a spicy and fun second chance romantic comedy- with a little angst, wit, humour, and even a touch of mystery and suspense.
I really enjoyed my time between the pages of this book. It proved to be quite a fun and entertaining caper that I ended up reading in one easy sitting. It was a nice escape after having quite a stressful few weeks.
Journalist, Angelina, gets the shock of her life when she barges into her editor’s office only to find that her ex is now her new boss. Awkward much? Especially since they have some unsettled business from the past- such as the fact that he had no idea why she left him three years ago. You guessed it, things are about to get real interesting. But seeing each other after so many years apart brings up feelings that were meant to be long-buried. What happens next makes for quite the entertaining read. Add a little mystery and suspense and things get quite intriguing.
Looking forward to exploring the rest of this series.
Happy reading!

Thank you, Melinda De Ross!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is the first book in a new series and what a great start it is. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings. This is a well written story about Snapper and Gina. He has never met anyone he didn’t like until her. She is still getting used to what it means to be human and finds herself in a garage where Snapper is the head mechanic. Her problem is that Snapper is a jerk. When an engine fails they find themselves working together. Working together may not be what either one expected. What happens with these two you don’t want to miss. They are great characters that bring the story to life. They have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them grow throughout. This is a fast paced story that I found to be engaging and hard to put down. There are a couple of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed this story as it is easy and entertaining. I highly recommend this story.

The Wish-Eater by Claire Luana – Review by Amy Brennan

The Wish-EaterThe Wish-Eater by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author has this writing thing mastered, over and over again I am blown away by the descriptiveness of the story, no matter whether you’re reading about the world in which we are residing during the duration of the novel, or the characters that we have befriended along the way. This is the third novel that I have read by her and I really don’t think I will be able to ever get enough. Though I’m upset this is a stand-alone novel, it may very well be my favourite one thus far. I myself, have been struggling with secondary infertility for the last few years, and understand the doubt and insecurities that can cause. This really allowed me to connect with Elodie, who was an amazing character all on her own.

This Wish-Eater idea, is one that exists among all walks of life, perhaps not exactly, but we all want to believe that there’s an ‘easy’ way to make our wishes come true and hang on to that belief in hopes that one day we will stumble or work towards it. The adventure that Sebastian and Elodie embark on is one for the books (literally and figuratively,) and allow for them both to discover more of themselves than they even thought possible. The connections made within these pages and the relationships, along with the hardships are relatable, goose bump worthy, and put simply, addictive. I applaud this author and look forward to future adventures. Couldn’t recommend highly enough! P.S. The ‘From the Author’ section had me spilling tears all over the place. Thank goodness I read on a Kindle.

The Fighter (An Underground Bad Boys Romance, #3)The Fighter by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“It’s not important who we were, but who we are now and in the future.”
I think this quote at the end of the book sets the tone for this story of Gage, Juliet, and Ten. They all grow so much during this book and turn into completely different versions of themselves from all the self-exploration they do while trying to find out what they each want from life. This was one of the first books I have read from this author and I definitely enjoyed it. I enjoyed the second half of the book more than the first part, probably because my favorite guy was Gage, and I was rooting for him to get the girl from the beginning. The beginning for me seemed a little stilted, not as smooth, but it seemed the author found her groove and the story really took off! It definitely should have an 18 and up warning on it due to some of the content being pretty spicy. I was thrilled to bits with the ending! I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to picking up the others in this series.

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending Book 1) by Nicole Bailey – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

A Veil of Gods and Kings (Apollo Ascending, #1)A Veil of Gods and Kings by Nicole Bailey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Veil of Gods and Kings is the first book in the Apollo Ascending series. It’s a mythology-inspired romance with plenty going on story-wise!
Apollo has been living amongst humans, including his mortal sister Temi. He’s not keen on ascending to his position as sun god, which would mean he could no longer spend as much time with humans. Growing impatient, Zeus sends him to live with Prince Hyacinth, whose obedience to his father makes him a great role model. Unfortunately, Apollo and Hyacinth have an established dislike of each other which makes it very, very difficult for them to work together. Or for Apollo to be even vaguely polite.
I particularly like the friendship between Temi and Epiphany, Hyacinth’s sister. As well as chapters from Apollo and Hyacinth’s POV, we get chapters from Epiphany’s perspective. Like Apollo, she is reluctant to follow the path that is expected of her – in Epiphany’s case, to get married and leave the place she calls home.
The author includes content warnings at the start of the book. I think this would be included in the preview, so I won’t repeat them here as they are a bit spoilery.
This book gets five stars from me! An enjoyable queer romance with a fun Ancient Greek setting.

Unabridged (Lovestruck Series Book 2) by Melinda De Ross – Review by Mikaela Insinger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A very sweet and quick romance that brings two lovers back together. The main character has a lot of sass and personality which brought her thoughts to life. The interactions between her and the love interest were genuine, powerful, and… maybe a bit cheesy, but I love that. The detailed romance is quite enthralling. I thought that there may be serious secrets to work through or around based on the synopsis, but it wasn’t anything too shocking. Overall a simple and easy read that I fully enjoyed.

Snap Me Up (Full Throttle Cyborgs Book 1) by Landra Graf – Review by Shelly Kittell

Snap Me Up (Full Throttle Cyborgs, #1)Snap Me Up by Landra Graf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fast cars, a synthetic AI with a body, and a cyborg man with trust issues… this makes for a terrific book. It was kind of like a version of Fast Five on Mars. It’s a gang town called Frog Lick. I love the name, btw. Snapper has some major issues. He’s a little cyborg and a little human. He, Jack and Drag have all been injured and had parts of themselves replaced. Then the medical unit left and now they are on their own. Gina is an AI with brains and she’s just trying to fit in but Snapper has a bug up his butt that she’s a spy, especially after she designs the new engine. This is where the action kicks into high speed. You have cars, girls (Arti is spurned and not so happy about it), and other gangs trying to sabotage. The plot is fast and keeps you engaged. You just want to keep reading to see what happens next. The characters all felt real. You felt their problems, even Arti. She just needed to move on. The tone of the story is really set to the gangs. Talk of theft, sabotage, rivals, injury, etc. It’s a book I’d recommend for the romance lovers who like action romance. I’m looking forward to book 2 of the series. I’d love to see Drag’s story.

Unabridged (Smart & Sassy in the City, #2)Unabridged by Melinda De Ross

This book made me think of a soap opera – it is entertaining, a touch ridiculous, and fairly dramatic. There is a rich ex-boyfriend who was abandoned and who shows up as the FMC’s new boss, a crazy ex-wife, and a crazy mother, as well as a protective best friend, a cat named Rat, and an absolutely hilarious pen pal. Angelina and Blade’s story is a light, easy, brain-candy read. There are things you can nit-pick if you wanted to (such as Angelina’s reason for leaving Blade without a word being pretty thin), but if you take it as a fun, light-hearted, easy to read story, you will enjoy it.

Blood & Ravens (The Casket Girls Series Book 1) by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Trish Ann

Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance (The Casket Girls Book 1)Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance by A.D. Brazeau

This book was definitely a little different than what I’ve been reading lately. It did start slow for me. However, the characters of the story are well developed and the plot keeps you invested. It was a nice vampire interpretation mixed with some other depths of mythology. The story did not always pan out the way you think it will which is refreshing from the predictable nature that this genre can have.
