Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella (Ash Park, #0.5)
By Meghan O’Flynn
Rated 5 stars

This is a story of Ed Petrosky before he became a detective. His life was normal and he was happy…yes happy. Hard to imagine if you have read the other Ash Park novels. Anyway we learn some about why he is the way he becomes. Straight to the point, hard and a giver of no-Sh**. I enjoyed reading the look into Ed previous life.

The writing is smooth and as usual I was drawn to the story. The characters are smart and unforgiving. I struggled to figure out this “who-dunnit” so that is always a happy surprise for me when reading her stories.
Even though it’s a Novella..the author doesn’t skimp on the mystery or suspense. This can be read as a stand alone. I have read all the Ash Park novels and still couldn’t figure out this one!

Reading the Ash Park novels throughout 2018 was the favorite times of my dark twisted little thriller heart. Each and every one was a dirty little secret desire that I devoured and enjoyed way too much. In fact, all of Megan O’ Flynn’s novels do that to me actually. I can always count on her when I need a good twisty dark read.

Now with every book Of her Ash Park series I have left a glowing review saying how flabbergasted I was this woman could top the crazy and the great that was the book before it, but she delivered time and time again, and I was heartbroken when I thought it may have come to an end for the Ash Park stories. So to say I was excited when I saw Salvation pop up on my feed would simply be an understatement. I devoured this packed full 161 page novella in just a few short hours and was left dying for a reread of the the series again! LOL! If you haven’t gone and read them yet, do so, you won’t be disappointed!!

Salvation gives us the up close and personal, the nitty gritty, on Detective Edward Petrosky. He was always a favorite of mine throughout the series but seemed to leave a lot of unanswered questions about why he was the way he was… Well no more questions yall. O’Flynn gives and gives and twists the knife ever so perfectly. Of course I am not going to give to juicy gory details, for those you will have to one-click and devour this gem for yourself. You will fall in love I am sure and find yourself hooked! Thank you for this fantastic series Ms. O’Flynn! I can’t wait to see what will come next from you!!

Having read some of the others books in this series and then Salvation I have to say it absolutely sets the story! I didn’t mind that I read this book after the others because it really was a brilliant read. The author has a really great engaging writing style that pulls you in straight away. I loved finding out a little bit more about Ed too and I think it helped me appreciate him more when thinking about him in the other books in the series. If you have read any of the books in this series then this is a must read and if you haven’t then absolutely start with this book first – the author sets a suspenseful scene with Salvation! It is only a short read but it is jammed packed full of action, suspense and mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and recommend it 100%!!

By: Meghan O’Flynn
5 out of 5 stars

The story Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O’Flynn is a book that I loved reading. I have already read the other stories in the Ash Park series and enjoyed reading another book with the character of Edward Petrosky. This novella is when Ed is a patrol officer. He is in love with his fiancé Heather. Then in one night, his dreams for the future are destroyed when he finds Heather’s bloody body half-buried in the snow. Now pain and grief surround him. Who killed Heather? Why was she killed? When another body is found, one that has a connection to where Heather volunteered her time and to the same church she attended, more questions are raised. Will Ed ignore the rules and sacrifice his career to get justice for Heather? Will the killer be caught? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has twists and turns. There is suspense and I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Trying to figure out who was responsible for the crimes being committed is like trying to solve a puzzle. I found myself trying to put together the pieces. Ed is a character that is haunted by his past and a character that I could empathize with. He also has a sharp mind and good instincts. There are other characters that are introduced in this story that I also liked reading about. They are helpful to Ed. Then there are those who have their own agenda and don’t care about who is hurt or the consequences. This is a story that will hook you in and won’t let go until you finish it. I would highly recommend reading it.

O’Flynn is officially a master storyteller. This prequel was everything I expected and yet still surprising. Just a fantastic book and series. Highly recommended.

THE ASH PARK SERIES STARTS HERE…

Edward Petrosky joined the Ash Park police force with two goals in mind: escape the military and silence the demons that followed him home from the war. And no one soothes those traumas better than his fiancé, Heather—he doesn’t even mind that she has a checkered past of her own.

But his dreams are obliterated when one night, on a routine call, Ed stumbles upon a scene as horrifying as any he’s seen in combat: Heather’s bloody body, half-buried in the snow. Though his superiors order him to stay away from the investigation, Ed can’t help but notice the inconsistencies in Heather’s case—her supposed cause of death doesn’t mesh with what she’s told him about her past.

When another body turns up, Ed realizes that Heather’s murder wasn’t an isolated act of violence; this new victim was connected to the same shelter where Heather volunteered and attended the same church where a kindly priest seems to know more about the murders than he should. And the detectives working the case seem indifferent to these links despite being no closer to finding Heather’s killer.

Now Ed must choose whether to play by the rules or sacrifice his career to seek justice for the woman he was supposed to spend his life with. One thing’s for certain: Ed can’t go down without a fight, because Ed isn’t the only one seeking vengeance.

And in Ash Park, the innocents aren’t always who they appear to be.

Chilling, and as twisted as you’ve come to expect from Meghan O’Flynn, Salvation will keep you glued to the pages. If you like James Patterson’s Alex Cross series, Tana French’s Murder Squad series, or Vargus and McBain’s Violet Darger FBI thrillers, you’ll love Ash Park.

Redemption (Ash Park #5) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Emily Walsh

Redemption (Ash Park, #5)Redemption
ByMeghan O’Flynn
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Redemption (Ash Park #5) by Meghan O’Flynn was a heart pounding, feels invoking, raw psychological thriller that not only hooked me like the other books, but it brought me back to the first book, to that unsolved case, that’s ends with a shocking conclusion.

Coming off the emotional punch to the face from the last book, this book picks up pretty close to when books four ends. I will say before I continue, though these books can be read as standalones, they are following a connecting plot line, and time line. So I highly suggest reading the other books in this series. Especially the first book, as this one directly connects to it. You won’t get the full emotional boot kick, if you skip it. Plus, all the books in this series are freaking amazing!

I don’t even know how to review this book, it wasn’t what I was expecting, and frankly this is probably one of the best books I have read this year. But, let me be clear, to get the full effect, you got to read the other books. You got to see the darkness that’s been smothering Petrosky. His downward spiral, his ghosts, his willingness to just end it all. All of that, from those books, everything leads up to this one. This book will shock you, wreck you and, you will not see the ending coming. I was second guessing everything, and it was, wow.. just wow.

I really hope this isn’t the end of the series, I feel like there needs to be one more, just one more to close it out fully. But if this is the last book, then I have to say, that Meghan O’Flynn has done this series justice and ended it just as strong as it was started. Every book was strong, and that consistency of high level writing is what separates this series, this book, from others like it.

In saying that, please, please, take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that this book is not only a must read, it’s a classic in the making. It will break your emotions, have you struggling to keep it together, and you will shed some tears. This book, this series, is on a whole other level, and is worth every bit of praise it has received.

Happy Reading

Hidden (An Ash Park Novel – Book 4) By Meghan O’Flynn – Review By Melissa Agena

Hidden (Ash Park, #4)Hidden by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Simply Amazing! Meghan O’Flynn has done it again and has done it better with Hidden, Book 4 in the Ash Park Series. This series just keeps getting better and better. This book follows Detective Petrosky and Detective Morrison try and find a serial killer that has come back to Ash Park. They let him get away once and they are determined to put this guy away for good! Not only do we follow them in their work lives but we delve deeper into their personal lives as well. I’m not going to lie and say this one isn’t a hard one to read, but it is. That being said, this book takes you on a serious emotional roller coaster and you will definitely need to pull the tissues out for this one! You are either cheering or encouraging one or more characters and at the same time you want a couple of characters to seriously be destroyed! LOL Like I said…EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER! Either way, I loved this book and loved the characters in this book. The author is so good at pulling you in and making you feel like you are a part of the story that by the time you come to…you are finished with the book! Ms. O’Flynn has become one of my new favorite authors because of this series and I’m truly honored to have found her and her wonderful stories. I’m excited to see what she has in store for us in the next and final book in the series! I hope she can top this book!

Conviction (Ash Park, #2) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Emily Walsh

Conviction (Ash Park, #2)Conviction
ByMeghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Conviction (Ash Park #2) by Meghan O’Flynn was just as, no, it was more dark and thrilling then the last book. I didn’t think it was possible, but this series is fast becoming an obsession.

The second book in the Ash Park series, we are once again tossed into the dark underbelly of Ash Park, this time following Shannon Taylor, Ash Park district attorney. We met he in the last book, and I didn’t know too much about her, only that I liked her and having this story centered around her was quite a thriller treat.

Shannon is a fierce character, she is the attorney you want on your side, and would do anything to never be on her bad side. She’s a strong character, and one that I believe was written in a real, complex way that made you connect with her. She isn’t perfect, and is trying to do her best to put the baddies away, while wondering if she made a life changing mistake years ago.

I will tell you that this book, was wow. The mystery, the clues and the plot twist. I didn’t see it coming, and I was shocked. Again Meghen played with our hearts, twisted our emotions and lead us/me astray. Nothing was wasted, even the subplots. Having such multi-layered writing, added to the complexity of this story and, it made for such a big polt bomb, that I had to put the book down just to process.

This series is just everything I didn’t know I wanted, and I can’t stop reading. As I said, I’m a little obsessed, and I think my dreams are going to be a little nightmarish for a few nights. So yes, I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Famished (Ash Park, #1) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Emily Walsh

Famished (Ash Park, #1)Famished
ByMeghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Famished (Ash Park #1) by Meghan O’Flynn was dark, gritty, and apart from having my heart in a vice, it had me hooked from start to finish.

My first read by this author I didn’t know what to expect. I just thought I was in for your normal, thriller mystery, like a CSI/Criminal Minds mix… No, no, no.. It was more on the darker side of Criminal Minds. Not only did I get attached to Hannah, I felt for her, somehow connected to her, and, I don’t even know what to say or think anymore.

Hannah was a good character, like I said I connect with her, and every minute of her hellish life I wish I could have been there to give her a hug, and just, put her in a bubble. Strong in her own right, Hannah was that MC you root for, hope for and just want all the good things for.

Damn Meghan O’Flynn, you managed to not only rip out my heart, but just when I thought things were looking up, you ripped it out again and stomped on it. Thanks….Sometimes there are no happy endings, and this book shows us, will for me I felt, it showed the real look at what goes on when trying to catch a killer. The grunt work, the long hours, and the constant feelings of guilt and grief that, you weren’t fast, or strong enough.

This book will push your emotions, will make you think it will end like your normal TV drama. Be prepared for some gut punching feels, and a good slap to the face. And that my friend is where I leave you, but yes, before I go, I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

I will now dive into the next book.

What is wrong with me? Good writing that’s what

Repressed (Ash Park, #3) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Emily Walsh

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed
ByMeghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Repressed (Ash Park #3) by Meghan O’Flynn was a dark, gritty psychological thriller, that like the past books in this series, had me hooked from start to finish.

The third book is the Ash Parks series, we are once again tossed into a deadly game, and one that surrounds a main recurring character Curtis Morrison. Meeting him in the first book, and following him to see what he has become, and then this book. I feel like this was happening to a close friend. Man I should not be benign reading this series, but I can’t stop. Not once I read the synopsis for this one and knowing that Cutis was going to be the next one to be put through hell. I just want to put him in a box, and put up a do not touch sign.

I don’t even know where to start. This book, was a lot harder for me because like I said I’ve been reading from book one. It would have been different if I was reading about a new character getting put through the ringer, but when it’s one that’s been there from the start, as a new bright eye detective, to now, married, baby.. it hits you hard. The writing does a great job at that, pulling you in, making you see boths sides. My heart was on the floor for most of this book. Meghan O’Flynn has a way with keeping the tone dark, gritty and has this way of just keeping the suspense, the mind games and the mystery high. And not just with the killer but with our MC as well. Cause we get to learn new things about Curtis, darker things. And as we have seen lately, your past is never truly buried.

Overall this book, so far, for me, has been the darkest, twisted, and the most engaging/entertaining read of the series. As much as I felt like my heart was about to be boot/ㅋ***** across the room, I could not put it down, look away, or breath. This book, and this series is fast becoming a fav of mine, and possibly the best of the year. So yes, I give this book and series my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

This is the fourth book in this series and it just keeps getting better and better. I love this series and the mystery, suspense. It took me on a journey of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming plus left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. Petrosky is my favorite character. He is a little rough around the edges but he gets the job done. He has a case that is haunting him, will he finally get his peace? I highly recommend this book.

Repressed (Ash Park #3) by Meghan O’ Flynn ~ Review by Liz Vrchota

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy fracking wow! Repressed is another impressive chilling thriller from Meghan O’ Flynn. I must confess, after each of the Ash Park novels that I read by the ever talented O’ Flynn, I am more enamored than I was with the previous one I just praised as the best of the series. O’ Flynn really has the knack for drawing in the reader and holding you and your thoughts hostage long after you finish the last page. Each of the books could be read as standalones, but I would read them all and in order. For one, as mentioned, they are all great, but they do build in plot and stories, as well as have characters that we do get glimpses of in each of the books, and two, why not?? It is the perfect season and they are all available to scoop up and enjoy!

Repressed gives us the story of Curt Morrison. I always knew that there was more to Curt but I had no idea what was to come from him that is for sure! (No spoilers here though!) Though, as we follow him in his new life with his wife and adorable new daughter we begin to learn about some deep and dark demons that lay ‘repressed’ in his past. The case that Morrison and Petrosky are working on also becomes an overlying factor and everything Morrison has ever cherished will come into jeopardy. Will he be able to conquer his past demons and do whatever it takes to protect the ones that he loves now? Or will the past finally come to catch up to him?

This book touches on some difficult subjects, like the others have, but it is done in a way that makes the story flow. Every piece is necessary to the novel, and tells the story that the reader needs to fully understand all that is going on. Nothing is done without care to details. You can tell these are topics close to Meghan O’ Flynn’s heart. I personally cannot wait to get my hands on the next novel, which will be right after I finish this review. I think a storm is brewing outside too, perfect weather for an Ash Park novel!! Thank you so much for another amazing novel, Meghan O’ Flynn!

Repressed- Meghan O’Flynn

5-stars

Repressed is another haunting read by Meghan O’Flynn! It’s the third book in the Ash Park series, a series I would recommend reading in order as the series continues with characters that were introduced in book 1. This book, like all of this authors work, is dark, twisted, detailed, action-packed and so suspenseful. From the very first chapter I was pulled in, I read it in one sitting as all of the detail had me sitting on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t want to get answers to all of my questions.

This book followed Detective Morrison, a character that had intrigued me from his first appearance and still does even after reaching the end of this one. Meghan writes with so much emotion and detail that I could picture Morrison’s brain spinning as he tried to decipher what was going on, which made it highly entertaining.

I can’t wait to read more of this series and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next crime read!

Repressed (Ash Park #3) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Lisa Helmick

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This one is not for the faint of heart. It’s a little dark and covers a subject not many people are fans of. While I enjoyed the story my heart was pulled out of my chest numerous times. Wishing this would happen or hoping that everything would turn out okay. I was Shocked….Disappointed….Sad and disgusted a couple times while reading. I think some of those is because I had such hope for Morrison and Shannon after Book 2. Then this book happened.

Morrison has a huge monkey on his back. We learned about this monkey in the last book. To me it was interesting but yet sad being in the mind of an addict. The dark thoughts vying for drugs while the good thoughts try to overcome. Such a struggle. Will Morrison come out the other side a solid man or a troubled one?

Each book gives us an insight to these characters. We see the good and the bad. Petrosky seems to be behind the eight ball with no desire to get out. He is a good cop who loves his new family. Hopefully they can keep him on the straight and narrow. Petrosky and “California” aka Morrison are amazing partners. They seem to help each other and their bantering makes the book a little lighter. Shannon while not having a huge part….has a huge part (read the book to understand). She is an anchor for Morrison as well as Petrosky.

This is the third book in the series and is a good psychological thriller. I felt the story was a bit slow at first (getting the story set up) but as it moved forward I could hardly put this down. The characters are amazing. This author knows how to write a crazy, mind numbing, soul searching story. I can’t wait to start reading the next one after reading the Epilogue.
