Straight for the Kill is the third installment in the Benoit & Dayne Mystery series. Although Straight for the Kill is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone with no confusion. Winter Austin writes deadly romantic thrillers that will not disappoint. Full of suspenseful twists and turns Austin has you sitting on the edge of your seat the entire book. Just when you thought you had the mystery figured out she throws another wrench in the plot. I am a “judge a book by the cover” kind of gal and the cover drew me in on this one but I was sold after the first few chapters. The plot was seamless, moving from scene to scene, keeping the reader engaged. I won’t hesitate in the near future to pick up another mystery written by Winter Austin.

Savage Start is a Hidden Valley Elite prequel. This high school bully romance is full of dark, intense topics endured by two teenagers, Riley and Cole, who come from two completely different backgrounds. Riley is a rebel with a messy life, forced into a new town, always on the run with her dysfunctional mother. Cole comes from money but he and his brother find themselves in the middle of their parents’ infidelity issues. When Riley sneaks into a party that Cole is attending, sparks fly and they share the most passionate kiss.
Isla Vaughn is known to write about complex characters, strong alpha males, and fierce woman who bring them to their knees. Savage Start was a great introduction to all three of these topics. There was a lot of intense, dark, action packed into these short fifty five pages and I didn’t want it to end. I love that both Riley and Cole come with plenty of baggage but rely on one another to be the other’s safe haven. Although this is a prequel, and I am sure the intention was to leave you wanting more, I didn’t feel like there was enough, ending way too soon. And the cliffhanger has me thinking……OMG! Now I can’t wait to read Savage Lies.

Night Hawke written by Gwyn McNamee is a second generation Hawke family prequel. McNamee writes stories with a bit of suspense and action mingled with romance and heat. Night Hawke will not let you down in any of these categories. This novel is steamy and full of spicy scenes. The novel jumps right in from the very beginning with a steamy introduction. This prequel really sets the stage for the next series, ending with a cliffhanger that leaves you begging for more. It is not necessary to read the first generation to follow along in the second series, but I promise you wont regret getting your hands on those as well!

“When life throws you a curve sometimes all you can do is swing for the fences.” Throwing the Curve is an enemies to lovers, sports romance written by Lauren Fraser. It is the second installment of the Playing for Keeps series. Although it is a part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Peyton Sharp prides herself on being an honest person and doing what is right. When she realizes the baseball player she is dating is a married man she can’t continue with the shenanigans and must escape from the mess. Ryan Graves, another member of the baseball team comes to her rescue and agrees to be Peyton’s fake boyfriend. This fake relationship doesn’t come without stipulations.
Lauren Fraser writes about love and relationships but in the end she’s a sucker for a happy ending. Throwing the Curve will not let you down in the happy ending category. The characters of Peyton and Ryan were relatable and lovable. Ryan’s team mates as secondary characters really wrapped up the storyline. The pace of this novel kept me wanting more, never bored throughout. I did feel like the forced fake relationship was awkward but overall I really liked the story. Despite this the characters and Fraser’s writing style really drew me in. And the SPICE, oh my! It will not disappoint. I can’t wait to see what installment 3 of this series brings to the table.

Synopsis: Married blind is the second book in the King of Screens series. Abi is a devoted sister, working three jobs to help pay her sisters medical bills. When her sister became ill she promised to stand by her side. When given the opportunity to go on a reality TV show for three months for income, it’s a no brainer. Finn, needing a chance to improve his image following some previous relationship shenanigans, agrees to take part in the reality show, but not without cost to the producers.
Reader’s Thoughts: This forced proximity, marriage of convenience, Hollywood romance is full of witty banter, tension, spice, and flirty fun. Although this is the second book within the series, it can be read as a standalone with no negative effect on the story line. The characters are relatable and lovable. If asked to pick a favorite character, I couldn’t pick just one. I enjoyed Abi and Finn equally for different reasons. When all was said and done they truly did make the perfect couple. The story line was a little far-fetched for my liking and I felt as if I knew the outcome from the very beginning. Despite this little hiccup, it would not deter me from recommending this fun read to a friend. I’m interested to see what is in store for book number three.

Reader’s Thoughts: “Slip into this enchanting small town and stay awhile! You might just fall in love…” I did exactly that reading Falling Home! I was in love with Ginny and Max from the very beginning, rooting for them the entire time. Max loved his diner, had the most amazing cooking abilities, and sure could win a girl over with cheese…..yes cheese! Those enchiladas and grilled cheese had me wishing Max was in MY kitchen. And that red dress…I could only imagine how gorgeous Ginny was when she stepped into it. Makes my heart melt.
This second chance at romance, Christmas miracle was the perfect wrap up to the holidays for me. Libby Kay sure knows how to write, leaving no stone upturned. The story line was seamless, keeping the reader interested and wanting more, no questions unanswered. The characters were lovable, relatable, and down to earth. The story was predictable but did not deter me from continuing on. I can’t wait to see what else Libby Kay has in store for her readers.

Most of her ideas come to her while doing casual research or digging into her family history.
Reader’s Thoughts: Murder on Oak Street is the first book in the South Shore Mystery series. It is a historical mystery full of suspense, drama, and murder. This was my first time reading a book by I.M. Foster. At first, with the slow start and the old dialect, I just couldn’t get roped in. I had to keep putting the book down. However, I really wanted to know what was going to happen so I had to keep coming back. Once I got past this I couldn’t put the book down. I found myself consistently trying to crack the murder. The characters within Murder on Oak Street are realistic and believable. The vivid storytelling and world building allows you to feel right alongside the characters on this who-dun-it journey. Despite the slow start and the dialect I would not hesitate to recommend this book to a friend. I would definitely take the time to read another book by Foster in the near future.

Reader’s Thoughts: Royce, the owner of Excursions for you endured many negative events as a child that haunted him, keeping him from loving another being. Michelle, a travel blogger, enjoys traveling the world allowing her to see the beauty in the world, making her forget the ugliness in her life.
This friends to lover romance is the second installment in the WaterFyre Rising series but can easily be read as a standalone. I thoroughly enjoyed how Han put the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride, allowing the reader to feel as if they are right there along for the ride with each character. The fake dating that quickly led to a relationship was a great addition to the story line. This one was a little slow to start for me but once it picked up I couldn’t put it down. This would not deter me from recommending The Daredevil to a friend. The mysterious twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. And the spice, OH MY! I am excited to see what installment three has in store for Han’s readers.

Reader’s Thoughts: This is my first time reading a book written by K.G. Fletcher. The strong family dynamics, relationships, and friendships built between all the characters in her book Faultless Love had me turning pages as quickly as I could until the very end. Finishing this in one day, I just couldn’t put it down. She told the story seamlessly from beginning to end leaving no detail left untold. Her characters were loveable and relatable. I was rooting for Robyn and Ted the entire way. The secondary characters, mainly Ted’s siblings, made me laugh with their banter. I loved how they all participated in the big surprise for the ending. Fletcher’s writing style roped me in, allowing me to feel as if I was right there with them, emotions and all!

Reader’s Thoughts: Stumble & Fall is the second installment in the Legacy of Silence series. Although I did not read the first novel in this series, I was able to follow along with the storyline fairly well. I may have missed some minor background information but didn’t feel that it took away from the storyline in any way. I plan to go back and read the first novel. This psychological thriller had me sitting on the edge of my seat, heart racing, while quickly flipping pages for more. The tragic events that Kate and Tilly endured during their lifetime broke my heart. Their strong will and desire to do everything in their power to help these victims made my heart full. As a nurse, I could 100% relate with their instinct to put their own needs aside and care for others. I love that the characters within this novel are flawed, full of fear and self-doubt, but show us readers how to fight for what is right. There were many tough social topics discussed in this novel. Rivers thought these topics out thoroughly and did an amazing job accurately executing these topics into the storyline making every part believable.

This fast-paced short story was a true page turner. Filled with suspicion and revenge, the characters find themselves in a cycle of anger and jealousy that they just can’t escape from. I had to read this twice to fully understand what I had just read. But all I can say is WOW!!! This short story really packed a great punch in just a few short chapters.

Reader’s Thoughts: Breathe Underwater was full of angst, suspense, pain, healing, and love. The obstacles and challenges Evelyn and Damian experience in this novel are so down to earth and open your eyes to true struggles. I thoroughly enjoyed Evelyn’s character, she was so stubborn and brave but reckless at times. Damian was courageous in his want to guard Evelyn. It drove me crazy that he kept pushing her away but he felt this was the only way he knew how to protect her. If I could change anything about this novel it would be the length and streamlining the plot throughout. I felt at times some scenes were very drawn out with word and information overload whereas other parts were rushed, lacked detail and left you with many questions. Overall this novel had amazing character development. The chemistry between the two main characters was intriguing and the push and pull of the two really added to the story line. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to a friend!

The friendship this trio has built is so powerful. The amount of tears, LOL and WTH moments within this book take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Their journey is full of challenges, angst, humor, and drama while battling ghosts of the past. All the heart wrenching moments that this trio concur while testing their friendship and rebuilding walls is just amazing. Everyone needs this trio in their lives!

Reader’s Thoughts: This is my second time reading a novel by Willa Drew. I was immediately sucked in and couldn’t put this one down. From the bodyguards and paparazzi to the secrets and lies and the strong family ties, this story had my heart singing for more. Mel’s constant reference to everything music put a sweet touch on this novel. With Mel and Wil’s (WE) cute banter I couldn’t help but adore their slow burn relationship. I was pleased that this novel was not overly mushy, and the relationship was so pure in more ways than one. We Blend is the first installment of the Falling for the Rockstar’s Daughter Series. After the cliffhanger at the end, I can’t wait for We Breathe to be released next year.

Reader’s Thoughts: “What does it take to find another beating heart in this city? All you want is one. The fingernail scene made me cringe with its extensive detail. Just a tad bit of gore, just the way I like it! And the odd relationship with the tabby cat had me hooked. This would make an awesome prologue to the beginning of something much more. I would love to see this turned into a full novel. I look forward to seeing what else DeBlassie has up her sleeve.

Reader’s Thoughts: My Bronc Riding Cowgirl is the 6th installment in the My Cowboy Series written by Brooke May. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This is the first book I have read by May, and I am hooked. It excites me to know that it is the 6th book, meaning I have many more to go back and read! This was a quick afternoon read for me but kept me wanting more. The characters were loveable, and the relationships never felt forced. May put a smirk on my face with the scene on the plane with the matchmaker grandma. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, especially sports romance.

Reader’s Thoughts: Into the Light is the third installment of the Moon Harbor Series written by Kate McWilliams. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. This was my first time reading a book written by McWilliams and I am forever thankful for the introduction to this series. The characters were relatable, from their chemical tension to their love story. The flirty banter was always entertaining and sucked you right in. From the moment I picked up the book, I couldn’t put it down. I was able to read this in two sittings over an entire afternoon. If you love a good romance mixed with a hint of mystery this one is for you.

Meet the Author: T. Christensen has been a lifelong resident of South Dakota. Being at home with her family is always her favorite place to be. T. Reader’s Thoughts: This was my first time reading a novel written by T. Christensen and WOW, this one did not disappoint me. I sat down and read this in one afternoon. No matter how much I needed to get done, I just couldn’t put this one down. The characters were relatable in so many ways. The storyline was realistic portraying the “mean girls” as what I truly believe mean girls look like in today’s society. In the beginning I wanted to slap some sense into Beckett, he was such a jerk! Then I found myself silently yelling at Greer for allowing Beckett to act the way he did. I found Greer’s enthusiasm for her mother’s happiness touching. For a young teenage girl to be so concerned about her mother’s happiness made my heart sing. And David, he instantly won me over. His threats to Beckett made me shout out loud. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I would love to see novels written around the stories of the side characters: Lexi and Pepper and there stunning football stars.

Reader’s Thoughts: I have not read a good mystery thriller in such a long time. The Girl Who Escaped was AMAZING! 5 stars AMAZING! Mark Nolan kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time rooting for Angie and her truth to come out. The storyline was believable, and the characters were all great assets to the storyline. There were a few twists to the plot throughout that kept me guessing. Be prepared to pick this up and spend the entire afternoon reading because you will NOT want to step away until the very end. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Mark Nolan. I will also be checking out some of his other novels.

Reader’s Thoughts: This was my first time reading a novel written by Theresa Sederholt. Although I’m Not Your Difference is the fourth book in the Fitz Series it can be read as a standalone. The characters in the novel sent me on an emotional roller coaster ride. At times I disliked Stephen for what he was doing to Andy. And at times I wanted Andy to realize how remorseful Stephen truly was. The love Andy shared with Stella tugged at my heart strings. And the selflessness displayed by Andy…….WOW! MJ and Fitz as side characters really brought life to the story. I cant wait to get my hands on the remainder of this series.

Let It Be Love by N.D. Jackson is a small-town contemporary romance. It is the fifth novel of the Mustang Prairie series. This installment tells the story of Kiki and Eric. Kiki, a well-known pop star, knows all too well what its like to live the life of paparazzi, agents, and fans. With all the gossip and lack of privacy, wanting to have a private relationship is to be expected. Eric, the small-town mayor of Mustang Prairie, is a private person who sticks to himself and follows the rules, being a role model for the people in his town. Can Kiki and Eric overcome all the obstacles to build a relationship?
This was my first time reading a novel written by N.D. Jackson. Jackson is awesome at introducing a character, teaching you about all their flaws, and then turning them into someone amazing. Her characters are likeable, full of love and are relatable. There were many secondary characters introduced in this novel from her other novels in the series, however Jackson gives you enough background on each one, making it easy enough to follow along without reading the previous installments.
Let It Be Love was a fast paced, makes your heart flutter, page turner. I couldn’t put it down, reading it in its entirety in just a few hours. This is one you won’t want to miss. I will definitely add the remained of this series to my TBR pile.

Distant Memories by Kate MacInnis is sending out all the ghostly vibes. Our MC Morgan is an Emergency Room nurse working in Metro Detroit with twenty years’ experience. Following a brain aneurysm that led to a lifesaving craniotomy, Morgan now experiences psychic abilities. Morgan lives with her ghostly roommates, The Wilkerson’s, and experiences spirits who haven’t crossed over at the hospital daily. Morgan must deal with an evil entity, Esmeralda, who is causing havoc in the hospital and in Morgan’s personal life. Esmeralda is a man obsessed ghostly seductress. She moves through the hospital touching patients, harming hospital employees, stealing food, and encouraging patients to “check out” and cross over. Esmeralda is great at flirting with men. She has her eyes set on Dr. Caleb Lightfoot, Morgan’s current “fling”. When Esmeralda becomes destructive, destroying the lab and the pharmacy, Caleb and Morgan realize they must act to remove this entity from the hospital. They request the help of Father Roberts to perform a cleansing. Will this be enough to rid of the horrible Esmeralda from the hospital and Morgan’s relationship with Caleb? Distant Memories is a fun, entertaining, paranormal romance full of ghostly drama, mischief, and humor. The characters are strong, well developed, relatable, and instantly likeable. The storyline flows with ease and gets straight to the point without dragging on. I did feel the book ended abruptly. I am desperately hoping this means there will be more to come with a 3rd book. Distant Memories can be read as a standalone or following the first book: Distant Heart Sounds.
