Deal Takers (Dealing With Love Book 2)
By Laura Lee
5 Stars

Laura Lee is a new author to me but she fast became a FAVORITE author! Deal Takers is the 2nd book in the Dealing with Love series and I can say equivocally that is was OUT of BOUNDS!! Just reading the blurb on the back of the book had me intrigued and Ms. Lee certainly delivered!

Usually, this is where I give a little summary of the book but this time all I’m gonna say is Brody and Rainey are AWESOME!! Each character brings richness, uniqueness, and complexities to life that will have you turning the page dying for more. This book has laughter, a wonderful story and enough heat that by the end all you want to do is flip to the beginning and start again.

Laura Lee knocks it out of the park with engaging characters that has the reader snared from page 1. Ms. Lee has a wonderful writing style which makes reading this book very easy. The excellent ebb and flow of the book keep you moving along at a steady pace. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this second book and am excited to see the series continue and what else Ms. Lee will bring us next!!

Deal Takers (Dealing With Love #2) by Laura Lee – Review by Jana Teppih

Deal Takers (Dealing With Love #2)Deal Takers by Laura Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Deal Takers by Laura Lee is a RomCom in her Dealing with Love series that leaves you crying with laughter and laughing while crying! I did not read the first book but I still managed to enjoy the heck out of the second one!
Deal Takers is the story of Brody Harris who has no filter so you can imagine what comes from his mouth – it whether cracks you up or leaves you for reaching for a gun, and Rainey who is a nurse at the local hospital and has the (mis)fortune of meeting Brody when he comes to ER with an embarrassing problem … The first chapter will give you a very clear picture of what is waiting for you (and Brody and Rainey) and I am telling you, it is so entertaining that you will not be able to put the book down until you have gotten to the end! The banter, the chemistry, the waiting (yeah, heck yeah, it takes YEARS!!!) and the heartbreak … AND do not forget about the older woman – younger man scenario as well!! You get EVERYTHING when you pick up the story (well, not a dead body or a back stabbing ex-girlfriend or ….)

Prospera Pass ( Phoenix Series Book #3) by Kimberly Packard – Review by Angela Hayes

5 Stars

Prospera Pass is the third and final book in the Phoenix Series by Kimberly Packard. This series has been quite an exhilarating ride from beginning to end. The three books contain a continuing storyline, so it is necessary to read all the books in sequence, to fully appreciate the story and characters.  This book/series is full of suspense, action, adventure, drama, danger, mystery, tension, twists, surprising developments, a Drug Lord, Cartels, revenge, murder, violence, romance, and sooo much more. I became addicted to the series back in book one, and through the three books Ms. Packard has kept me completely engrossed in what was happening- had me reading along trying to imagine where the storyline was going and what would happen next. I was kept guessing by the unpredictable tale, and was held in complete anticipation- right on the edge of my seat, the whole way through.

I admit that I had a lot of expectation for this book, I had so many questions that needed answers, and knowing this would be the finale I was anxious to find out what happens. I am happy to say that this book is every bit as good as the other two- Ms. Packard certainly delivered everything I was hoping for, and more. I zipped through the book in one sitting and loved it!!! I got to the end and didn’t want it to end, I wanted there to be more story- more about the next phase of the characters’ lives (see what I did there ?  no spoilers from me, you will just have to read the book to find out who makes it through to the end). I hope that the blossoming romance between two of the secondary characters at the end of this book means that they may get their own story/book. Fingers crossed!!!

This is such a well thought out, intricately woven story full of inter-connected details that showcase just how brilliant a storyteller (and writer) Ms. Packard really is! The story is complex and multi-layered, which the author orchestrated masterfully. It had a great pace and a smooth flow. The story is told from several POV’s which added a lot of interest and gave the story more depth, drama, and intrigue.

I am sad that this series is now concluded, but my mind is whirling with the possibilities of what Ms. Packard will produce next. I really can’t wait to get my hands on her next book!

A fantastic read!!!!

Thank you, Ms. Packard!

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth #2)The Flip by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth Book 2) by K.L. Montgomery a sweet romance story that is an easy, light and enjoyable read. The characters are fun and engaging and will make you laugh out loud and make your heart flutter. The story is told from their different POV’s which gave it more of that pop factor. K.L. has that magic factor when writing her stories and this one had it in spades. Her word building of the characters and the world in which they live have you imagining each and every vibrant piece by piece to make the story a whole. K.L. is one author that should always be on your read list as her stories are easy and connective and just the right amount of bite size to keep you satisfied.

Flirt (What Happens on Campus – Book 2) By M.L. Sparrow – Review by Melissa Agena

Flirt: A College Romance (What Happens on Campus #2)Flirt: A College Romance by M.L. Sparrow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a great story! Flirt is the second book in the What Happens on Campus series by M.L. Sparrow. You can read this book as a standalone but I would recommend that you read this in sequence. So this story follows Riley and her journey with loss of a career, addiction and finding who she is. This story also follows Cameron. The boy that has been in love with Riley since he could remember. While Riley goes through her tough times she comes to find love with Cameron. Cameron really helps her with her growth and shows her what true love means. Riley was headed on her way to the Olympics as a gymnast when she hurt herself and wasn’t able to continue her career. So she decided to go to college with her twin sister. Those two couldn’t be any different! But college wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. Riley met a guy who introduced her to all kinds of addictions. This story was definitely a roller coaster but thankfully one that has a HEA. There weren’t too many sexy scenes. This story didn’t need a whole lot of them. But the ones that were there were pretty steamy. Addiction is difficult for anyone, even a rich girl that had huge aspirations. But its how you deal with it that counts and that’s what this book is all about. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I would recommend this series to anyone!

The Twins: The Complete Trilogy by R.G. Miller – Review by Shannon Fowler

The Twins (The Twins #1-3)The Twins by R.G. Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first book/series by R.G. Miller and let me tell you this: The Twins Trilogy is NOT and I repeat is NOT a romance story. Oh there’s love in this story, the love of an officer for her job, the love of death and destruction. But as for romance there is zilch. I say this only because if you are looking at my other reviews you will see I read romance, dark, sweet, historical, erotic, romance.

This trilogy is an amazing, action packed, on your toes, hide under the covers, psychotic murder mystery.

The first book introduces us to the twins, Stacey and Jannifer McHill. They are innocent 13 year old girls on the verge of a horrific discovery. The second book continues where the first left off with more twists and turns. The third and final story gives us the conclusion that we need. Every feeling is included in this trilogy. Tears, fears and hopefulness fill these stories. All three of these stories are fast paced, full of details and well worth the read! The characters are amazing and interesting. I can not wait to read more from this author.

Flirt: A College Romance (What Happens on Campus #2) by M.L. Sparrow – Review by Jessica Leombruno

Flirt: A College Romance (What Happens on Campus #2)Flirt: A College Romance by M.L. Sparrow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Flirt is the second book in the What Happens on Campus series by M.L. Sparrow. This book picks up around where Player left off, but this book can be read as a standalone (recommend reading Player). Riley is a little lost after losing her gymnastics career and wanted to try the college life. Well, she tried the wrong college life – drinking, drugs dealer “boyfriend” and sleeping around. Cameron is your typical good guy; he loves math and science, doesn’t drink much and go to church. Cameron has always been in love with Riley since they somewhat grow up together. Riley needed someone to put her on the right track before something really bad happened but is Cameron the right person and why is Riley really acting like this?

I really liked this book; Riley and Cameron were just the right balance for each other. At times I couldn’t believe that Riley was so selfish and didn’t think of anyone else. I wanted to smack her friends for waiting so long to do something about it. But I guess you have to let someone fall before you help to pick them up.

I’m looking forward to the next book but I have a feeling I’m not going to like what happened to Terri. A box of tissue will be on standby.

Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Heather Bahm

Fur VeronaFur Verona by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gwyn McNamee’s Fur Verona is a well written paranormal romance. This story takes a spin of a story old as time and its done with tasteful flare. The scenes are set, the characters are cast, and the plot is to die for. The author has woven her magical writing talent through and through within this novel. Rome and Jules are both strong independent characters. Add them together and it’s one climatic
combination! This story was addictive and I could not put it down. Gwyn McNamee did a fantastic job with her character development, inclusive of the underlying theme of the story. Combined with the dialogue and drama, it was a match made in heaven!

Intentional (Intentional, #1) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Moriah Venable

IntentionalIntentional by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Intentional is the first novel in the Intentional series by M.K. Harkins. This is my first novel by this author.

Newly engaged Mattie Taylor is happy with Jeremy, preparing for their wedding but with only a month before the big day, she finds him in a composing position.

She packs up her things and moves to Mercer Island and starts new life for herself. While there, she meets Cade and starts to feel happiness again even though she still has feelings for Jeremy.

But when Jeremy re-enters her life, will she be able to listen to her and trust that things were not what they appear or she will move on with Cade?

I knew from the premise that I was going to enjoy this book, but I wasn’t prepared for how much. I finished this one sitting and I can’t wait to read the next book.

I was confused by the beginning at first because I expected to get right into the story but instead we got an introduction to the characters and their professions as well as how Jeremy and Mattie meet and grow close. We also get a glimpse of Mattie’s friendship with Sarah.

I will admit, I didn’t see that revelation though I was right on part of it, but it was a real shocking. Mattie talking to Cade at the hospital had me tears while I was reading at work.

I look forward to reading the next book.

The Portal Prophecies Volume 1 by C. A. King – Review by Erin Davidson

The Portal Prophecies Volume I (The Portal Prophecies Volumes Book 1)The Portal Prophecies Volume I by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“I wanted to create a world other people could escape to. I wanted to share the place that had helped me for many years.” C. A King
You definitely succeeded! I just want to firstly say, how amazing and imaginative the world C. A King created is. Volume 1 of the Portal Prophecies series, is the first 3 books in C.A King’s epic series that follows Willow and her friends as they attempt to save our world and every other realm in between. Without spoiling books 2 and 3, the first focuses on Willow and her journey of self-discovery, after realizing that her small slice of life is a speck of dust in a much larger universe. After uncovering a secret temple hidden in the woods, and finding a large tome of prophecies that predict the end of life as she knows it.
Overall I loved the series and the magic system that was woven throughout the novels. The only irk I had, was that Willow seemed to be all powerful without many weaknesses, besides her friends and being somewhat vulnerable to a certain enemy’s charms. I still really loved all the individual characters and all their unique powers. I’m super jealous of Nathan’s powers; oh man, if I had that ability, I’d be unstoppable. I also loved the way the characters interacted with each other, and how much of a family they were to one another. It honestly warmed my heart. As well as when Willow was introduced to such mundane things. It reminded me of Starfire from Teen Titans, and how curious she is about our world and all the magic it contains.
This series is perfect for fans of X-men, or Teen Titans, as well as Avatar: The Last Airbender. As it’s a perfect blend of light-hearted moments, and serious sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat-and-chewing-your-nails-off moments. As well as fantastic characters and imaginative world building. Absolutely loved it! 5/5 stars

Knights Who Broke My Heart (Knights #3) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Heather Bahm

Knights Who Broke My Heart ( Knights, #3)Knights Who Broke My Heart by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sonya Jesus’ Knights Who Broke My Heart is the third in the Knights series; this new adult/college romantic suspense picks up where the previous book finished. This series/book is all about the suspense and how the drama circles key main characters throughout. The author does a fantastic job on leading these characters around one another while. There are so many twists and turns I am not quite sure where this story is finally going to end, but the ride the author is taking us on in the meantime is worthwhile and such an enjoyable one at that. Lia just cannot seem to find her footing, just when she thinks she’s got it something else comes. At times, I don’t know whether to like her or be disappointed in her. I have a love/hate relationship with her. Add in all the men that cannot seem to stay away from her, she’s like the magical unicorn! This has been a great series so far and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store in the next book.

Intentional (Intentional Series Book #1) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Angela Hayes

5 Stars

Intentional is the first book in the Intentional series by M.K Harkins. This author continues to surprise me with every book. I have read all her books now and I have loved every single one. She has proven that she can write anything and do so incredibly well. This book won me over from the first few pages, I was pulled into the story, engrossed by what I was reading and couldn’t have put the story down- even if I had wanted to. I needed to know what would happen and read the book in one sitting- just to find out how everything ended.

The characters are superb, really well developed and fully realised individuals with their own personalities, quirks and flaws. They are really likeable and endearing- or completely unhinged and detestable as in the case of one particular character- but being able to sway her readers to either love or hate a character, just proves what a supremely talented author Ms. Harkins really is!

There is a lot going on in this story- and more to the story and characters than might first meet the eye. I loved discovering all the details, devouring the story, and just loved everything about it.

Mattie Parker is a 23-year-old graphic designer who has just moved to Sedona with her best friend Sarah, who is a lawyer and had just been hired by one of the top firms in the area. The girls are looking forward to a bright future. When Mattie meets Sarah’s boss, Jeremy, for the first time, sparks fly- but his reputation as a ladies man makes her wary. But, he’s determined to get to know her, and as they spend more time together Mattie genuinely believes his reputation to be nothing more than rumours. They cement their love by getting engaged- planning their future together. Mattie couldn’t be any happier. Then her world is shattered by the worst betrayal imaginable. Broken and alone Mattie can barely function- she has trouble getting through her days, wallowing in her grief and heartbreak. She decides she needs a fresh start, moving to Mercer Island to hopefully begin again. There is no way she will allow herself to ever fall in love again, or to open herself up to any more pain and heartache- she doesn’t think she would survive it. When a sexy, mysterious stranger rescues her after she’s fallen into a river, she can’t help feeling drawn to him. But she isn’t capable of anything more than friendship. But Cade is patient, kind and caring- he’s slowly dismantling her defences with his nerdy engineer by day- and sexy, charismatic rocker by night personas. She has finally found some peace and new-found happiness- when Jeremy crashes back into her life….. bringing chaos and danger with him. What happens you may ask? Well I don’t want to spoil all the riveting details, so I recommend that you read all the exciting developments for yourself- you really won’t be disappointed!!!

This story had me hook line and sinker!!! I was devouring the pages to discover what would happen next!! This has definitely become one of my favourite books of Ms. Harkins! I have already started the next book, as I couldn’t wait to see where the story leads.

Brilliant!!!

Thank you, Ms. Harkins!!

Knights Who Broke My Heart (Knights Series Book #3) by Sonja Jesus – Review by Angela Hayes

5 Stars

Knights Who Broke My Heart is the third exciting instalment in the Knights series by Sonya Jesus. This book took the story, the characters, the suspense, the intrigue, the intensity…. and ramped it up by several notches. Right from the beginning, my head was spinning with possibilities and questions that I needed the answers to. I have followed this story and the characters, right from the beginning- and what a journey it has been. The whole way, Ms. Jesus kept the pressure on and kept me clambering for more. This story is a continuation from the previous two books, so if you haven’t read them, I highly recommend that you do- because you need all that information to fully appreciate and understand the events, character motivations etc in this book. This story has so much mystery, a drama, angst, danger, violence, sinister intent, schemes, the creepy (stalker) factor, obsession, intrigue, romance, and sooooo much more. I have really enjoyed the series so far, but this book is definitely my pick of the bunch, so far.

Once again, we join Lia and follow along as all the action unfolds. With Connor out of the picture, Aiden seems to be winning her heart. Lia thinks she finally knows what she wants… But does she, really? I didn’t think I liked Aiden, but he kind of won me over in this story. I am still firmly #teamRobbins though and have been the whole way through the series. Then add Hawk to the mix and the story really catches fire. Then, OMG- that ending!!!!!! My heart!!!! It had my anxiety going through the roof. My mind is whirling with scenarios and what-the-fudges! I CAN’T WAIT to dive into the next book to find out what happens……..

As I discovered in the last book/s and again in this one- the author has a strong, detailed and descriptive style- she’s able to easily build the intensity and tension in her storyline by manoeuvring the plot to suit any and every situation. She created lots of intrigue, excitement, and lots of questions- by building the anticipation to an all-time high- she really kept me guessing the whole way through.

This is a gripping story of obsession of the worst kind. Ms. Jesus built the tension and suspense exceptionally well. I was flipping the pages, immersed in the story and trying to figure out what I would find on every page, or around the next corner.

Book four, the finale to the series, can’t come quickly enough for me! That sneak peek at the end of this book- O.  M. G!!! I have to know!!! I can’t wait!

Thank you, Ms. Jesus!

Knights Who Broke My Heart (Knights Series Book 3) by Sonya Jesus. It is an  interesting and captivating read as we follow the characters as they love, lose, stalk,  have many issues, lie, keep secrets and so much more it’s hard to wrap your head  around them all. I just wanted to smack some of them and say wake up or hug them as  they cried or hide away from the crazy as he starts to unravel. The suspense keeps you  turning the pages, the twists and turns have you wondering what comes next. On the  edge of my seat, definitely. Nail biting, tick. Frustration, oh yeah. This story is clever  and the ending, well the ending will leave you wanting more. I look forward to see what  Sonya has for us in the next book.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Strength From Words: A Four Horsemen Novel by C. A. King is a five star novel. I fell in love with this author when I read a different series of hers. I am so thankful I decided to pick up this series next! This is book two in the Four Horsemen series. I think it is imperative to read the first novel before reading this one because it gives so much more to the story than what we get just from this one. These novels are so action packed and information rich that I was able to read in one sitting. This is saying s lot for me because I do read slowly even though I love to read. We are first introduced to the Four Horsemen in the first book, Flower Shields, and find out they are siblings, and not all male. This book brings focus to Gabby and what she can bring to the table to defeat the devils that appear. I highly recommend this book.

I had the ability to read Intentional by M.K. Harkins. Let’s just say that I was impressed with the authors’ ability to create a beautiful – yet painful world.
\
We get to meet Mattie – a woman who thinks she has everything she needs, until she finds out about her fiancé’s betrayal. I think it hurt the most knowing that their love came from such a young age. I was intrigued with the way in which the story flowed and developed. I sat on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what decisions each character would make. I definitely enjoyed this book, and am excited to see what the author will do next. This was a definite 4 Star Book for me!

Deal Takers (Dealing With Love #2)Deal Takers by Laura Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Deal Takers, by Laura Lee, is the second book within the Dealing with Love series. This story was light, fun and a pleasure to read. It had laughs and seriousness in the right places creating a solidly round story. Laura Lee was talented in the method she utilizes in sharing this story, it was just so sweet, endearing, but emotionally touching too. I really liked Brody and Rainey’s characters. This romantic comedy was perfectly blended start to finish; I do like how the author overlaps characters between books within this series. You can read this book as a standalone separate from the series. Overall, my favorite character was Brody. Despite his “childishness” throughout parts of the story, he had staying power. Definitely a character that takes note and strikes something inside of the reader.

Lillie (Maggie Trilogy Book #3) by Mya O’Malley – Review by Angela Hayes

5 Stars

Lillie is the third book of the Maggie series by Mya O’Malley. It Follows on from Maggie (Book #1) and Naomi (Book #2). It could be read as a standalone, but having said that, there are aspects of the story that follow through the series, and I feel that you would benefit from reading all the books, in sequence, to have the best possible reading experience with this story.  It is a fantastic paranormal story, with intrigue, suspense, drama, choices, changes, history, a gift, emotions, danger, destiny, promises, visions, love, and mystery. I have really loved reading this series and can’t believe the trilogy has come to an end. Ms. O’Malley certainly saved the best till last with this book- my favourite of the series. I am a little sad that this is the final book- but also hopeful of a spin-off series that Ms. O’Malley hints at in her wrap up.

We met Naomi back in book one and have watched her on her journey through the two books- she has been through quite a lot over the course of the series and I felt this story really tested her. As we discovered in book one, Naomi can see and hear spirits who flock to her for help in finding some closure. This means her life is anything but ‘normal’. She and Bryce have recently gotten married and Naomi had hoped to have some ‘spirit’ free time to enjoy married life. But that’s not to be, and she soon finds herself in a challenging situation. Her adorable step-daughter Holly has a new friend, Lillie- whose presence will set off a chain of events that make this story unputdownable. There will be much to learn, choices to make, a puzzle to unravel, and a destiny to fulfill. This book really is worth the read!

This book/series is quite original, well crafted, and superbly written. I had to find out what would happen, reading the whole book in one sitting. As I have come to expect from this talented author, Ms. O’Malley added some surprising developments into the story that I didn’t see coming, which certainly held my attention! I loved the way Ms. O’Malley wrapped up the story, it was a perfect way to end the book/series.

I can’t wait to see what she does next!

Thank you, Ms. O’Malley!
