Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana – Review by Katie Matthews

Orion's KissOrion’s Kiss by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a few books by this author and I have to say that this has to be my favourite so far! The authors amazing writing transported me completely into the world that she was describing and I was completely captivated by what I was reading. The characters were well thought out and developed – I really, really enjoyed reading about them. I really liked the modern twist on Greek mythology in my opinion I thought it made the story original. I liked that the story was told completely from Merope/Meriah’s point of view, I am usually a fan of dual POV’s but I don’t think it would have worked for this particularly story. Along with the main characters there were some great secondary characters that I enjoyed getting to know also.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend – I think it would be suited for YA’s who enjoy fantasy reads!

Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson – Review by Jenni Bishop

Proper ImpulseProper Impulse by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson is a contemporary romance story that is sweet and fun and has a little drama. I absolutely fell in love with the first two books, Proper Ink and Proper Irish, and have been waiting patiently to grab this one. The story is told from duel POV’s, which is my favourite way of storytelling because you get so much more of a vivid picture of the characters and I love to know what they are thinking. Zeia always writes the best characters that are not only interesting but they are also well developed and provided no end of fun and sometimes a little frustration. The story moves smoothly and is over before you want it to.

Juniper wears her heart on her sleeve and that heart is very loving and passionate about all things but helping others no matter what the cost and what the rules. Rules, what rules? And boy does she make me laugh so hard.

Milo is a cop who is a stickler for the rules, everything is black and white. Grey, there is not grey! Or any shades in between. When he stumbles across one free spirit, he is sure she is determined to ruin his life but the fates have other ideas.

I hope there is more to come.

Captivity (Captivity Book 1)Captivity by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Captivity: A Paranormal Romance Novella (Captivity Book 1) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is a paranormal romance story that is original and tells the tale of shifters and another time. These magical characters were interesting and well-written and this story about love and hope, friends and fear, torture and breaking rules, but most of all it is about freedom and being who you are meant to be. The storyline flowed easily but we were left with a cliff hanger, I hate those but the story was good don’t get me wrong, I just hate cliff hangers.

Lorelei has been searching for the man that she loves who was taken from her. When she takes on her latest case, she finally knows what happened to him.

Aiden has escaped his latest captivity and has no memory of the woman who has been looking for him. They soon discover they are in the hunt for a cure to save his life but will they be too late to save not only him but her as well.

If you love something original and paranormal then grab a copy and enjoy

This story was great. This author is always a good one to go to and she did awesome with this one.
Russ is one of the main characters and he was deployed over seas in Iraq. While over there, him and his team were targeted and in danger. When he makes it safely home he discovers that he may not be safe after all and still has a target on his back. This is when he meets Claire. Neither of them are sure who has the bigger target on their backs but its going to be a bumpy ride.
I enjoyed this book and i though it was a great addition to the series. I am looking forward to reading more by this author!

The first novels really got you in the mood for more. I had no idea where this one might lead and as soon as I started reading, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. Retired First Nations Temporal Agent Wilda just wants to run her Toronto shop, garb Time Tourists, and send them on their merry way into the past. She finds contentment in her cat, her sarcasm, and her whiskey. All that changes when a deathly ill Traveller literally fell onto her doorstep, setting off a chain of events which forces her to return to the job she’d retired from decades before.

The Agency sends her and her assistant, Mattea, back into three dangerous eras of history to find the disease vector threatening the life of every modern Traveller. She searches through a teeming desert bazaar amongst the luxury of the court of Mansa Musa. She explores the dark forests of pre-Columbian America, fighting against the heartbreak of true love. She gets entangled in the convoluted politics of twelfth century Norse-ruled Orkney, sifting through the horrific carnage of a murdered village.

If Wilda can’t return in time with the right pathogen, the modern scientists can’t synthesize a cure for the disease before all the Travellers fall ill. She has to navigate politics, bandits, camels, and midnight coup d’etats, complete her mission, and return to the present, or lose herself in the depths of her own purposely-forgotten past.

This is book 4 in “The Jaded Lily” series and can absolutely be read as a standalone. PROPER IMPULSE stars Milo as a cop and Juniper as someone who cares more about others than she cares about her self.

This book was a quick and easy read and had lots of “life changing” ideas. Characters are dimensional and the story has a great ebb and flow. I absolutely recommend this book, this series and this author.

Joined: Book One by Mara Gan is a new series and author for me. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I also like the nod to mythology with the characters of Andromeda and Perseus. This is an intriguing story which kept me reading from beginning to end. Also, the character development is well done. I enjoyed the story also because it was was not overladen with sex and course language. This was a refreshing thing to see in a YA story which could be read by all ages. I also think this allowed the characters to develop in relationships and character because there was not only a sexual focus. I look forward to reading more in this series to see where the author takes us next.

Ruin: The El Diablo Chronicles by Autumn Sand – Review by Michelle Austin

Ruin (The El Diablo Chronicles)Ruin by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruin was a great 5 star read and book one in the El Diablo Chronicles.
All I can say is wow, once I started I couldn’t stop.

Raymond is very dark and dangerous. He is someone you don’t cross ever and he holds nothing back when he wants something.
Tallie has a past that has traumatized her. She tries to stay strong and uses her sexuality to fulfill her needs. She is also trying to get past a broken heart and seeing him every day doesn’t help.

Raymond and Tallie meet when he comes into Pulse, the club that Tallie works for. There is something about him that gives her chills and turns her on at the same time. And my gosh, the things he said to her were insanely hot and rude and she held her own quite well.

I thought I could match wits with him, but I know I can’t.

Raymond and Tallie both are not looking for anything serious. They both have some pretty big walls to break through, can they help each other? We get some pretty hot and steamy scenes from them. I will warn that there are some scenes that may be triggers for some. I was once again pulled right in by Autumn Sand’s writing, I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

I have to start off by saying I love the cover of this book almost as much as I’ve loved reading the series! Moving on to the actual content, I feel like each book by Tamara Ferguson is better than the last, Two Hearts Under Fire is no exception.
Tamara Ferguson is the type of author that paints a picture so vivid you feel as though you’re watching a movie as each page unfolds. The characters in each novel are relatable and steal your heart almost instantly. I have never considered myself a reader with a preference for the romance genre, but Two Hearts Under Fire is so much more. If you are looking for a book with a strong storyline, memorable characters, and a vivid escape from your day to day, I recommend this book.

Undercover (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 2)Undercover by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Undercover was a great 5 star read and book two in the Billionaire Bodyguards.

You get pulled in right from the beginning. Marenah find’s herself in quite the predicament, this is also where she meets Prez (Matt) in the basement of a Mafia club. When his team gets them out things get even more interesting moving forward. They reconnect in Russia, where they end up on the run from both the Chicago and Russian mafia. The more time they are together the closer they become.

What will happen if Marenah’s secret comes out? Can she have a future with Matt?

I really liked Marenah, she was such a strong character and I loved her independence. Matt is a hot alpha who protects people. You could feel the attraction between these two coming off of the pages. We get some steamy moments from them along with some edge of your seat moments. Via does a great job of pulling you in with her writing, I can’t wait to read more from this series. You can read as a stand alone but I suggest reading book one as well, it will help you connect better with the characters. 1-click and get started today.

Ruin (The El Diablo Chronicles)Ruin by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ruin is the opening to Autumn Sand’s new series called The El Diablo Chronicles. I loved how she introduced a new series by giving us the characters we had met in her Twisted Hearts Love Story. You do not need to have read the series to jump into Ruin but I strongly recommend that you do not want to miss Twisted Hearts Love Story series!
I would say that The El Diablo Chronicles is darker than the Twisted Hearts Love Story series, if you believe. The writer gives us the warning about triggers and I tell you, be aware of them as she is touching upon issues in our society that are heart breaking and have an impact on one’s life till the day they die.
Ruin gives us Tallie and Raymond aka El Diablo. When I first met Tallie I was wondering what the heck was wrong with her to be such a biatch and here we get the answers … we meet her demons … and who does one need to slay one’s demons? El Diablo aka the Devil himself! Welcome into his world!
I hope that the writer will not keep us waiting too long before giving us the next story in the series!

Blood Relations (The Sorrel Janes Mysteries) by Lonna Enox – Review by Sarah Oakes

Blood RelationsBlood Relations by Lonna Enox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great read about mystery. Sorrel James is a photographer just wanting to take some pictures of some geese with a friend. When her friend doesn’t show up, she begins to get suspicious. With police officer Reed, she starts to investigate. Can they find John before it’s too late?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Sorrel stubborn but kind underneath or Reed determined but caring underneath.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the snow white birds against the vibrant sunrise bold and beautiful and magical. Or the geese flying off with its sounds so vivid its as if you’re actually there and for a sense of wonder.
The use of suspense was drawn out to perfection with a sense of mystery from the start and events revealed slowly to make you keep reading to find out what happened. I also liked John with his little habits like the decorations and the closed shop, small details creating a sense of unease. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blood Relations is the second book in “The Sorrel Janes Mysteries’ series by Lonna Enox. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Enox, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into the story- but lets face it, I love a good mystery and that’s what I was hoping to find when I grabbed myself a copy of this book. What I found was a cosy mystery- detailed and descriptive, with all the ingredients needed to make it a captivating read as there was just the right amount of suspense, drama, and intrigue.
Ms. Enox packs a lot into her story- there is quite a lot happening with lots to ‘uncover’. I enjoyed meeting the characters who added quite a lot of personality to the story. Sorrel is very independent, with a strong sassy streak. She’s quite the investigator, too. Add Det. Chris Reed to the mix, and the ‘case’ gets quite interesting.
I will definitely be going back to read book one, before jumping into the third book. What will Sorrel gets up to next?

Thank you, Ms. Enox!

This story was amazing!!! I have to say that the cover is what caught my eye. R. M. Gilmore is off the chain. She knows how to grab your attention and keep a hold of your interest until the last word of the book. There is a mystery and suspense throughout the story. I never saw what was coming around the bend. This story is about Prudence. She is a diamond in the ruff. The other kids as well as Prue does not think so. She is a strong and will not back down if she believes in. She meets a boy from the “spook house”. There is so much more in the story but I am not a fan of spoilers. Enjoy 17 Marigold Lane and keep your eyes open to see what is coming next.

Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily ConjuringsEveryday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie is a book that is absolutely nothing like any other book I’ve ever read. I honestly never knew that books like this existed. I had never read any of this author’s work but the book came highly recommended, so I decided to give it a go.
Everyday Enchantments is a series of short essays which cover just about any and every subject possible and shows how you can find the magic in them if you look hard enough, even including very mundane things like cooking. It makes you evaluate your life and see that there is much more to it than you previously thought. You see some things very differently.
This wasn’t a book that I could read for long spells at a time. For me, I liked to ‘dip in’ for little bursts, reading a couple of essays at a time. I found that I got more out of the essays that way.
As I said, this book is totally different to anything I’ve ever read so if you are looking for something that little (or big) bit different then you should give this book a read.

5+++++++ Stars

Oh my goodness I love this series so so much..Everything about it and I have been waiting to read this book for awhile and it was well worth the wait.

I loved the beginning to Lexy’s story when I read it in the earlier books and it felt like coming home when I opened this book. It was so much fun reading about Grayson and Lexy, it’s not often you find a female lead that’s as independent and strong and alpha as the lead male character. I would normally not like this as I love the male being the alpha but these two were so awesome and this author wrote this in a way you can not help but fall in love with the whole storyline. It was full of suspense, action, little twists and turns placed perfectly and there were a few pages that truly had me laughing out loud…Poor Sir LOL

I loved the rest of the brothers being in the mix as well as Luigi and Uncle Louie and am fully invested in all of them and can not wait for more. I think one of the many reasons I love this whole series is the family aspect that is so important to everyone in these books. Mom Riggs absolutely cracks me up and I could completely identify with her for some reason…

Omg the last part of this book had me not being able to read fast enough and then all the little openings to future stories you can see playing out. I love this author’s style and can not wait to read more. I think the one I’m most looking forward to is still Hawkins, he is a mystery I can’t wait to see solved.

Loved it and I don’t recommend reading any of these books out of order…Read all of them you will not be sorry!

Ruin by Autumn Sand a five-star read that will ruin your heart. This is number one in the El Diablo Chronicles and I am so excited for what comes next. I will be honest and when I came across Tallie before she left a bad taste in my mouth, but when I got to know the real Tallahassee, she blew me away in more ways than I can express. This author, she writes dark so well, that it slips off the page, I have been a huge fan but this one, this one just spoke to me. The man by many names, spoke to me, he called like a siren to me and I was desperate to answer. Number two can’t come soon enough, I for one am desperate to be spoken to again.

Will this author ever write a book I don’t like? I doubt it very much as Ruin was again another fantastic 5 star read! I was 100% captivated by this story – from beginning to end I couldn’t drag my eyes from what I was reading. The characters, some of whom I have already met in previous books, were just amazing to read about. The writing was edgy, gritty – exactly what I have come to expect from this extremely talented author! I will say there will be some triggers in this story for some readers which the author is open about but I was really impressed with how she wrote about them, they weren’t over dramatized. The twists and turns in the story were extremely unexpected at times – I absolutely loved this!! My emotions were everywhere whilst reading this book; I went from anger to heartbreak in a matter of pages! I really found a connection with Tallie, she was such a deep character with a past which was difficult and I really found that I wanted to read more about her as the story went on.
Ruin was a fantastic 5 star read and one I would highly recommend. It could be read as a standalone but I absolutely would recommend the Twisted Hearts Love Series also.

This is the continuation of Aless, now known as Lexy, and Grayson. Their story started in the My Life Series. That series should be read first as it will give you the back story for these two and because it was an awesome read as well! In that series Lexy and Grayson meet one night at a party and had an instant connection. That connection would hold them for more than five years. They both were hoping it would be enough when they found each other again. Fast forward to this story, My One Love, where we hope that connection can survive two strong, alpha characters.

My One Love is easy to read with action, steamy scenes, and like I said lots of alpha men and women. There are also the bad guys from the old family that Lexy must deal with along with a stubborn, bossy, protective man she has been secretly following. This story is not for the faint of heart as there is some violence, the kind of violence you would find when fighting an Italian mafia family. I love how Lexy’s friends step up in many of the situations, proving that having a tight circle is important.

I definitely recommend this story along with the other Camelot Brothers stories! Navone has quickly become a favorite one click!
