Cynthia Hamilton does it again in Houses of Deception (The Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series Book 6). How I love Madeline and Mike. The rapport they have between them is unique and endearing. The romance in these mysteries is always low key but it’s always there, and in excellent taste. Two mysteries in one in this excellent read. I must confess I had one of them about half figured out but couldn’t quite get there with the other one. A great mystery and well worth your time.

I read this story with my oldest, who is 4 years old. Although it seems like it would be better for older kids, I still think the lesson resonated with my 4 year old as well! It was a great learning tool, especially with the activities at the end. It brought a simple yet serious conversation (as serious as one can get with a younger kiddo) that might not have happened as organically had I not picked up this book to read with him! Already looking forward to reading some of the other Jake The Growling Dog books!

I really liked this set of books featuring amateur sleuth/librarian Sunshine Baker. She is a loveable character, one who genuinely enjoys her role as YA book librarian, introducing great stories to the teens of the town. She also can’t help her curiousity when trouble is afoot in her small town. The first book, Betrayal at the Beach was a great introduction to Sunshine and her community. Unwilling to just let crimes happen, especially in HER library, she jumps into action to solve the mystery of stolen funds and the Founder’s bible. Mystery at the Marina is an excellent follow-up, though more than once I found her a little too nosey for my liking… not everything is your business, Sunshine! Shooting at the Shore follows in a similar vein, and as Sunshine is now making a name for herself, she goes to work figuring out who killed a beloved matriarch of Bryce Beach.
These books do live up to the ‘cozy mystery’ vibe well. The reader can follow along as Sunshine puts together clues, and guesses along with her what might have occurred. Sunshine is Christian, but it isn’t an overwhelming theme, just a part of who she is and what she believes. I appreciated that the work wasn’t in the least preachy, just an aspect of her beliefs and community. These are an enjoyable set of books that I definitely recommend!
This is the second book in the the Journeys Through series by James Talisman but it could definitely be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed this latest addition in the series more than the first and couldn’t put it down. The time travel parts were really interesting and engaging, and I really enjoyed the development of the characters from the previous book. Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

Sweet Nightmares is the first book by Chynna Pace that I have read. It is a thought-provoking YA Paranormal Fantasy book. Chynna Pace has taken us on the ride of a teenage girl who just lost her mother. This young lady has never had a nightmare. Now when she sleeps it is a dangerous realm for her. She is learning there is more to her family than she has ever realized. This story has played out in my mind’s eye thanks to Chynna Pace’s attention to detail. I kept turning the pages because I needed to see what was coming next. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what is coming next in the series.

Her Dark Love is the fourth book in the Dark Spell Series by Isra Sravenheart. This is the book that brings all things front and center. It is a fantasy story with witches and magic, romance and heartbreaks. In this story, we learn about the backstory of Lady Isra. She was not always on the dark side; she was once on the light side. This book has helped answer some questions along the way. Just like in the past, things are not as they seem. This story was full of twists and turns. I enjoyed Lady Isra’s character a bit more because of what I learned about her past and what she has gone through. I highly recommend reading this book and series.

Nolan is a very talented writer that I know is a reliable author that will hit all the right contemporary romance notes. This book absolutely lived up to my expectations. This beautiful story unfolded and immediately pulled me in. I loved the immediate push/pull between the main characters and thoroughly appreciated how the story developed. It was interesting, after reading the other three books in the series, to get a glimpse into some of the early events that shaped Isra. We are flown back to her adolescence, when she was training to become the witch she would morph into, with her “friend” Everilda beside her. Seeing the emergence of her powers, and the beginnings of her relationships with characters like Everilda and Astrid, added depth and nuance into understanding how she evolved as a witch. I enjoyed reading about Isra’s lighter side, and how those crucial formative years had such a impact on the woman she would become.

Unbreakable is the first installment of The Diamonds series by Tee Smith. In this story we meet good girl Erin and bad boy Ripper. We get to see how they meet and fall for each other and have to overcome obstacles from their pasts that may affect their futures. I really enjoyed how the Romance and Suspense entwined with each other. It made me want to keep reading page after page. I can’t wait for the second installment of the series. I’m hoping we’ll get to know more of the characters we were introduced to in book 1.

This book had me at first bite! I will admit that there was a moment I was so engrossed in the story, my partner touched my shoulder and I jumped so I high I almost threw my kindle. 😳 I also stayed up waaayy later than I should have to finish it, but that’s typical with a good read. Vampires and lycans have been at war for centuries. So long that most cannot even remember why they’re enemies anymore. Each species has grown up on horror stories of the other and to fraternize with each other is a death sentence. Tasha is a vampire that is quite the loaner. She is one of those girls that you automatically notice and know are special, but they can’t see it in themselves. She’s also reckless and adventurous which is what leads us to meet Levi the lycan. Levi … Ugh! I love me a dominant character!! As most wolves must be, he is a wild and dominant character – only a little moreso as he is a black wolf; and that only grows as the story progresses. I’m definitely going to immediately dive into the next book as I am not ready for this story to end yet.

Hairballs and Homicide drew me in just from the title. The book cover is cute, not intense, so I knew it would be a light hearted mystery. I am glad I took a chance, because this book was great. It was a little cheesy at the end, but it was funny throughout and kept me engaged wondering who the murderer was going to be. The biggest downfall, is I now want to adopt ALL THE KITTIES! I wish this café was in my hometown so I could go and love on all the cats, and people watch all the quirky people that hang out there. I love that the author gave each cat a name and personality, as well as all the café patrons. We got to know several of the townsfolk, and that was fun. Ellie is also such a fun personality, and I hope she has a steamy relationship with Detective Simon in the next book. I look forward to reading more by Ruth Hartman.

The God by Hazel Storm is the second book in the Her Three Immortals series, and it is to die for. (See what I did there?) This second installment picks up right where the first one left off. Vanessa has been cast down to the Underworld, and Grey would rather her not be there – except she’s pretty much stuck in his penthouse in Elysium. The tension between the two is captivating. Now, I usually don’t mention how awesome character names are, but for some reason the names of these characters just make them pop off the page. Vanessa, Grey, Gordonita, Aroz, Raef…Read it for yourself and you’ll see what I mean. These names are so cool! When a character’s name is just as unique as their character is written, it just helps build that vision in my head that much more. This book is engaging and vibrant and left me wanting more, so it’s a good thing there’s another one coming. I recommend reading the first installment, as well, in order to get the full experience.

I was ensnared with interest from the first page! Written in first person point-of-view, Alex Rokosz is a character I quickly began to relate to. Alex’s mother has recently died and she is going to live with Matilda Rokosz, the paternal grandmother her and her little sister Zoey have never met before. And then there’s Kacper! A mysteriously rude boy that is a couple of years older than Alex and lives with her grandmother as well. The descriptions of emotions and scenery in this book were detailed enough that I never struggled to imagine or feel what was was going on. The story flowed so well and the mysteries hinted to in the beginning of the book were revealed with some wonderful flair as the story progressed. There were a few moments near the middle and end of this story that I was caught on the edge of my seat, anxious to see what would happen next. I am hands down thrilled that this is going to be a series and there will be more books in this world with these characters! I’ll never look at nightmares the same.

This was a captivating mystery that had me gripped from the first page. I loved how there is a mixture of myths from the Island that contribute to this story. It is fast paced and full of twists that you never see the end until you get there.
When 1 man dies of a condition where he is basically boiled alive, Sarah Danger and private investigator Jeff are hired to find out what is causing this mysterious illness.
When Jeff suffers a heartattack it is left to Sarah to try and solve this mystery herself. With no indication that it is caused by anything medical she now has to look at something a bit more supernatural. This leads her down a path of myths of the Island, links people would rather you didn’t know about and a connection the a volcano that had suddenly got very active.
You will be gripped from beginning to end to find out the root cause of this illness and wondering if they can save the man who according to the first death has 7 days to live.

Stripped by Stacy-Deanne is the first book in the Stripped series. This book is a spin off from another series however I don’t think you need to read the other series first. I started with this book and was able to completely follow the story and the characters with no issues. I found this book to be quite an easy read. You get into the story easily enough, and although the characters obviously have background from the other series you connect with them easily too. I didn’t find the storyline too gripping, in parts it was a little predictable, I did still find myself invested enough that I wanted to know how things were going to turn out. This is a new author to me and I have to say I definitely enjoyed her work. I will be reading the next book in this series and probably the previous series too.

But she is intrigued with Jonathan, who also wants to make her part of his cult. This was a brand new author for me, and seriously they had me hooked! I literally could not put this one down! The characters and the plot and how everything entwined as things happened and were pieced together I was left constantly wanting more!
This novel follows a mystery on an island. People are getting sick, and I mean really sick. Its a mystery at hands for sure, but to what cause? Hawaii is a very nice place and well cared for, but why are the people dying from a sickness that seems to kill them in horrid and bizarre ways?
Then we have Sarah here. She is a lead investigator assigned to this mystery and this case. She struck me as someone right off the bat as she will get to the bottom of it no matter what. Would she though? That was the most true question at hands. Sarah trying to figure this out, but it seems to prove more difficult than the obvious statements would have let on! All in all, this mystery and the less obvious behind why the illness that is killing people was more intriguing than I would have ever thought.
I tend to be a scientist myself, believing there is always a explanation to very issue. In this case it really had me scratching my head. Nothing was adding up. No sense of a infection causing these things…what could it be? Perhaps something more less of not of a common issue of this world maybe?
Sarah had a sharp mind and she was very much a inquisitive individual. She had good group of people in her life, and together they were working together to figure out what was going on. As I read on I had my suspicions, and I will admit, I was off. It was not what I guessed and the true conclusion to the mystery was even better my own thoughts. It wrapped up very nicely! And the author defiantly used her tricks’ to keep myself as the reader in suspense to keep reading to figure out what is going on this island!
I loved Sarah so much. She was such a kick ass awesome character. As well as her I loved reading about Hawaii, I truly felt at times of my duration of this book that I was on the case with Sarah and the gang trying to figure things out, and draw clues to piece together in this puzzle! The author is great at the suspense and the word building, and they did an amazing novel! I will for sure be reading the next in the series and see what new dangers Sarah and her group face and have to figure out! This was a fun, fast paced read full of amazing components as well as these characters! I highly recommend reading!

After her fiance cheats on her, she finds no reason to stay, and heads back home 8 years later. Trying to put the past behind her, she finds Trent has grown even more irresistible, but although she’s ready to forgive, Charlie has to figure out if she can forget what happened between them and learn to trust again.
This is a simmering romance that sizzles up and leaves you rooting for the couple to push through their history and find a happily ever after. Loved the characters and their stories, as well as the relationships between their friends and family.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a really interesting read and reading it from the perspective of the mum and also Branson really helped give the story a complete feeling. I really loved how the author has been so open and wrote so honestly about mental health and the problems that not only the person suffering with the illness goes through but also the people around them. The story has been wrote in a really respectful way but without sugar coating things which makes it a real eye opening read.
Branson is a successful student with his whole life ahead of him until he starts suffering episodes of blackouts and hearing voices. Not knowing how to handle this he turns to his mum. We then follow his mother and him on the journey to get the help he needs for his mental health,however things aren’t that easy and things will get worse before they get better.
It’s a hard story to read because you can feel the torment that Branson goes through but also the torment and grief that his mum is suffering too. As a parent myself I can’t imagine how hard it is to watch your child suffer and be unable to help them.
This book will really make you rethink about mental health and the stigma that surrounds it by giving the reader a deep insight into it and the heartbreak it causes.

Ya’ll. I gotta be honest. I’m not a huge fan of series where it’s the same main characters throughout the books- but this series is an exception. I LOVE Tasha and Levi’s forbidden love. I’ve always liked supernatural/paranormal/romance books and this is the best of all of those worlds. I really enjoyed the first one and this one is no different! I thought the twists/trials/trouble was interesting in Forbidden Wolf and was wondering if Forbidden Mate would be the same and it was. This story is full of emotions, heartbreak, love, and suspense. It shows how love can survive difficult realizations and circumstances.
I did enjoy this book and cannot wait for the 2nd installment as we are left on a bit of a cliffhanger. I really enjoyed Ripper’s character and how he has struggled with his past actions and how it translates to the person he has become now. I hope in the next installment we get more backstory into the secondary characters we’ve met because I would love to get more details on those like Don, Mia, Jay and Sebastian. I feel there is so much more to these characters than the scratch of the surface details we received and I cannot wait to dive into them more.

This is the first book from this author that I have read. I was surprised to learn that she has written over 100 top bestsellers and wondered how I had missed out on her books. I can say that I look forward to reading those others as I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it to be very interesting and full of intrigue and suspense. There was also plenty of romance as well and I love that she didn’t go overboard with the romantic details to take away from the suspense. I couldn’t put this book down once I read the first chapter. My only regret is that I did realize it was a spinoff from another series written by the author that I hadn’t read, and I do think that would have benefitted me and given me more knowledge going into this story. So, I highly suggest that you read that before starting this one. In fact, I am going to go back and read those and then re-read this one again. Great book!

I have read the previous book in the series, and let me say it was so good and addictive and I was very excited to read this one as well! I can happily say, this one spared no exceptions. It was addictive, steamy, sexy, and full of danger and everything else I wanted from the first novel to carry through with!
This one we follow the new two lead characters whom had the staring roles in this novel! Christian and Delilah…a human and vampire. Basically two souls though not from the same world, truly loved one another, with their hearts rather than mainly just lust and sex appeal as the first book strongly gave off on regarding the main story line. Christian is a vampire as well as Master of the Consulate. Delilah is a human. They believe it does not matter they live in different worlds, because they a real thing going on.
Sadly, people of Christian’s world are dead set against this relationship. The fact that they are well bonded, makes things worst. Delilah is left dead. Christian who does not want to ever picture a life without her, decides to make her like him. Was it a wise decision How would the Consulate react to this new soul in their world? Also how would Delilah going to react to life as to what she is now?
As things progressed after that big event, things come to light that Christian did this on his own and not gained permission of his Consulate. He did this as an act of love. Selfish to some, but only true to he knew she was his mate till the end of time. He wasn’t about to let what could be a life time, basically be ripped from his hands.
Delilah on the other hand had to take time to progress this. This was a huge change for her. And everything she ever knew, or loved, was forever different and viewed different. Things happen, and well the Consulate want to keep these two lovers separated. Delilah (loved her character by the way) was a very strong woman even after she was turned, to speak her mind. Christian was her mate as well. Despite people’s opinions she did not care. She knew where she belonged and was going to do so anyway even if some souls did not like it, or want it to be.
Their love was defiantly tested in this novel. Things were not rainbows at first. They truly had to work through things as mates to truly decide with this great ordeal if this is the fate they are destined for as well as if this is the truest thing that they want? Things begin to tie loose ends with what happened with Delilah and how Christian’s world is in danger from different shape shifters. He wants revenge for his mate, and basically for having to be forced to turn her with no consent. Christian is forced to take a back seat and not go after what he wants, and this is revenge, but he has his Delilah who is strong and fierce and is the very woman he fell in love with, she gathers the females’ souls and goes forward with her band of wit basically to seek revenge and prepare for the show down that would unfold!
In conclusion, what made this book as amazing as it was, was basically Christian and Delilah’s love. It was good then it was very rocky. Then fate gave them reasons not to be mated for life. And they gave them a million why they should be together. I loved that. They proved they were meant to rule one another’s hearts even when the times were well worst than bad. Their love, chemistry, attraction, as well as their connection only grows as the story develops. It really gave everything I wanted and then some!
I loved both these two books in the series. I can not wait to see what this amazing author brings next in the third novel when I get my hands on it. I know it will be nothing short of amazing. The story and writing is so good and you really bond with the characters which I love. The book fine details of places as well as the characters was so good to the fine points all through out the novel. I loved it more than words can say. I was more than impressed. Amazing read! Loved it greatly, and I await the 3rd with eagerness!

Rage is the first book in the Marcy series by Linda Burson. I liked the book overall and i was looking forward tonreading the second book but I found myself a little confused and now have a ton of questions. I had been down with a pretty bad cold when I started so I can’t help but wonder if that has something to do with my confusion or if I was lead to be confused on purpose by the author. If that is the case, she did a good job.
Confusion is the second book in the series. I found myself getting very frustrated with Marcy in this book. The back and forth was never ending or at least that is the way it seemed to me. There were times I really wanted to shake her and get her to make up her mind between Brad and Liam. I like the supporting cast as much if not more than the main characters and I hoped to find them in more prominent roles in the following books.
Agony and Ecstasy is the third book in the series and I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I didn’t find myself as annoyed my Marcy as I did in the first two book which was a good thing, but that never stopped me from reading the books and not want to put them down. Marcy has done a lot of growing and healing in this series and I have a feeling that there is still a lot more to come for her.

I have had the pleasure of reading Ms. Jackson in the past and throughly enjoyed what I have read Soni thought I would give this a try and I’m not sorry I did.
Athena had many good qualities but she frustrated me so many times that I wanted to smack her in the back of the head to maybe see if she would figure it out but luckily she had Gwyn and Indigo to help her along.
I can’t think of one negative thought I ever had of Tru. He was honest maybe to a fault and took good care of his Mama which as a Mama is an important Trait.
There was a lot of angst and back and forth especially with Athena, but I don’t think it would have worked if she had been any different.
I enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next in the series.

Connie’s , Dee working on a case Autumn death. She shocked to find an ex maybe involved with this murder. She has a great way of getting twist and turns into the story that never knew who the murderer was until it was revealed at the end of the book it gave me a shock. The time to cult shocked me but was well thought out and written in the correct Manor.

Unbreakable is book one in the Diamonds series by Tee Smith. This one is a story that takes a little while to get going, and flowed along nicely, if not a little sedately. The story was really well written and the characters I found quite beguiling and very entertaining. For some wild reason, Ripper just made my heart ache. He brought out my protective mamma instincts and he was by far the most appealing in the story. Erin was not as easy to get a read on. But all that aside, the story as a whole was a good one. It was easy to follow and had a bit of excitement, drama and dangerous deeds. Great word structure and character creation made Unbreakable an enjoyable read. 4 stars.
