Ashali and the Blue Horseman by Jordan Elizabeth – Review by Kerry Carr

I really enjoyed this fast paced story. It has a lot of action in that keeps the reader gripped and entertained from the beginning.

I loved the main characters of Jase and Ashali. I love how strong willed and determined Ashali is. She is definately no damsel in distress and she is able to take care of herself. It was nice to read of a strong female even when the male character is the superhero.

Ashali is on spring break in a small town. She wasn’t expecting anything interesting to happen. But one night at a bar she meet a stunning heartthrob called Jase. She normally wouldn’t go with strangers but she decided to take a chance.

Once they arrived at Jase’s place things were going well, that is until Ashali was kidnapped.

Jase is a superhero known as the Blue Horseman. He worked so hard to keep his identity a secret and to have a normal life but when Ashali is kidnapped he realises that his identity has been uncovered and his life is in danger. His first priority though is to save Ashali.

Once he rescues her, he realises that Ashali can take care of herself and they now work together to uncover Ives and what they want. Until they are destroyed Jase won’t be safe. What follows is an adventure that takes them into some very dangerous situations to uncover this group and their secrets. But with evil people trying to get them this is one mission that make cost them more than their identities. Can they survive this and bring Ives down or will this group get the better of them?

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good second chance romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book to the trading heartbeats series. I was hooked on the first chapter. I could not help but to fall in love with these characters. It only took me a few Josie to devour this amazing story.

Mavis and Josh were inseparable when they were teens. They knew they were in love but something happens and they are torn apart for years. Mavis is living her new life in Chicago. She wants to move on but Josh comes back to love her once more. Mavis left her old life for a reason but she can’t help the feelings she feels. Will Mavis get what she wants or will the past come back to bite her in the end?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am definitely impressed! The chemistry between the main couple is undeniable!! I was not expecting such sizzling scenes, I say scenes quite literally, but wow were they ever! The story does have moments that are a little too coincidental but overall I loved it! I will DEFINITELY read more from this author!

Chasing Hope Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Robin Rankin

Chasing Hope

What a great story.  Max and Skylar fit together so perfectly from the beginning and having precious Maddie there certainly didn’t hurt things between them.

I understood a lot of what Skylar was going through as a single mother and her daughter being her first priority.   And she was just amazing even though she let her pride get in the way.

Max has the ghosts of his past and his time in the Corp., but he doesn’t allow them to control him most of the time.

The narrator John Tanner had a very soothing voice, almost like a parent reading to his child but also did a great job bringing each and every character to life.

Fatal Memory (Agent Red:Teagan Stone Series Book 1) by Ava S. King – Review by Shelly Kittell

Agent Red: Fatal Memory (Teagan Stone, #1)Agent Red: Fatal Memory by Ava S. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Agent Red is one of the most powerful suspense books I’ve read this year. Teagan is just trying to live her life and all of a sudden she is sucked back into her prior life as a spy. I found the story to contain lots of drama, adventure, suspense and mystery. It had everything I like to find in a book to keep me intrigued, and I was from the beginning. I found the characters well-written. I felt like I was reading about real people. They were very relatable. This was a fantastic book that I believe will enjoyed by others. I highly recommend it.

Felines and Fatalities (A Kitty Beret Cafe Mystery, Book 2)Felines and Fatalities by Ruth J. Hartman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have really enjoyed reading this Cozy Mystery. It’s such a cute series. Just when I thought Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom couldn’t top the previous books, they bring their A game and knock the ball out of the park with this one….. This is my favourite book yet, and what makes it even better is that Lottie and the rest of the gang are back, and the crossover is fantastic. While there isn’t as much drama surrounding Jasper’s ex Camila, there is a lot more drama when wives are revealed….. I honestly don’t know how to put into words how amazing this book is. Plus, now that Bizzy and Leo aren’t the only ones with special abilities (like reading minds), it makes it all the more special when they do.
Thanks to Mack (the mayor/ex-bestfriend), Bizzy is hosting a seniors bake off at the Inn, and it appears to be going well, judging by the turnout.

Jake (Billionaire Blind Dates Book 1)Jake by Toni Denise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is book one of the series. I’ve never read anything by this author but I enjoyed this book.

Jake hasn’t had any luck with dating. Which is understandable when everyone knows who Jake is and how much money he has. It’s hard to know who is just using you for what you can do for them. During poker night, Jake’s friends talk him into not giving up and instead they are all going to use a blind date service but they can’t pick their own dates. Jake doesn’t really want to but figures he has nothing to lose. Lauren just wants to find a nice, respectful man to share a life with. She’s got a painful past and rich men who think they own the world are kind of a trigger for her. After some convincing from her bosses (who happens to be Jake’s friend Cade) sister, Catherine she decides to give blind dates a try, even if just to get her off her back. Neither Lauren or Jake expected these dates to ho anywhere but they click. What will happen when Jake and Lauren learn more about the other?

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the premise and the characters were easy to like. It was well written and I can’t wait to read the next book.

I really liked this book. However I really feel like it should be read with the rest of the series. It wasn’t terrible read as a standalone. But if I could go back and make the choice again I would read the other 3 first.

What an incredibly heartwarming, beautiful, and slightly messy love story! I was immediately drawn to this book from the title– the idea of loving someone in the past, and then coming back to fight for that love really pulled me in and the author did not disappoint! The author added layers of detail that both enhanced the story and added to the characters. I felt that the characters were relatable, complex, and engaging- as I read, I NEEDED to know what would happen to them next. I am looking forward to the next book following this juicy love triangle.

I have always wanted to learn how to bake, so the title of this caught my attention.

Though I haven’t read the other novels in the series, I still enjoyed this novel.

Seeing people come together through baking, just makes me happy. No wonder people would bring over baked good to neighbors like I’ve seen in some movies. It conveys you were thinking of them and wanting them to feel welcomed in the neighborhood.

There is some drama with family curses being swapped and Cat trying to fix it before anything bad happens.

I will have to read the previous novels and this one again.

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Aloha Series Boxset contain the three books in the series by Jill Brashear. It is a great deal, three books for the price of one #winning!
The series is set against the tropical and picturesque backdrop of Hawaii. There is a retro historical element to the story too, as it is set in the1960’s, which definitely added an extra element of interest to the stories/series for me.
The boxset contains:

TRY EASY (BOOK #1)
This is a vacation romance with a bit of a love triangle. Lou travel to Hawaii for a vacation, leaving her fiancé back home in Seattle. She soon meets a local surfer named Keoni, and a friendship is formed. With a fiancé back home, she fights her attraction to Keoni- what does the future hold for these two. Will Lou return to Seattle and her fiancé? This story makes for a great read….

TRY ME (BOOK #2)
This is a fake relationship romance. Declan, a pro surfer seems to be at the top his game. But that’s not really the case at all. There is a sea of pain he hides from the world.
Pearl is determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps and cement her place in the surfing world. Pretending to be Declan’s girlfriend wasn’t part of the plan…. but if it helps her achieve her dreams then she can pretend for a while. These two have so much chemistry and are perfect for each other… another wonderful addition

TRY RIGHT (BOOK #3)
We follow Claudia, a movie star trying to reinvigorate her career, and Henry the stuntman working on her latest set. Claudia is trying to recapture her past, and Henry has agreed to help. But along the way the lines of friendship begin to blur- and maybe recapturing her past isn’t so important anymore.
A sweet friends-to-lovers romance, with a little drama, plenty of chemistry, and a dash or two of angst…. just to keep things interesting.

Happy Reading!

Thank you, Jill Brashear.

Master RomanoMaster Romano by Sylvia Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Master Romano is the fourth book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. It is a fantastic addition to this paranormal romance series- with vampires, witches, curses, feuds, agendas, an underworld society, politics, the supernatural, magic, danger, tension, intrigue, drama, emotion, superb world-building, twists, dramatic turns, opposites attract, duty, responsibility, choices, challenges, and a whole lot of sizzlingly HOT developments.
Even though this is the fourth book in the series, I really recommend reading the other three books before beginning this one. Each book in the series focuses on its own separate couple, but as there are interconnected details, as well as recurring characters that span the series- I really recommend reading from the beginning and seeing what has happened right from the start, as each instalment contains information that I feel would help you to better appreciate this book, and the series as a whole. And the series seems to get better and better with each new addition, making it extremely hard to pick a favourite from the four (so far).
I am really thrilled to find that there are 12 books planned for this series! Colour me excited!
Can’t wait for the next instalment!!!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Sylvia Black!

Jake is the first book in the Billionaire Blind Date series by Toni Denise. This is a captivating billionaire romance- a contemporary romance with interesting characters, a little drama, angst, sizzling chemistry, and hot encounters. It is a great start to a new series that I can’t wait to continue.
I have read some of Toni Denise’s work before, but this is definitely my favourite (so far). I really liked the blind date aspect to the story and think it added an extra element of interest to the storyline. I also really liked Jake and Lauren, so it was easy for me to become invested in them and the outcome of their story.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series holds…. Bring on Book #2!

He goes against the judgment of the other masters when he turns her into one of them inevitably saving her life. Angel must decide between helping those trying to oust the vampires from power or standing by the man she has come to love. This is another good book in the series by the author. All of them are pages turners and have their own unique storyline while simultaneously continuing the plot of the first book.

Descallia (Masters of the Consulate, #1)Descallia by Sylvia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first time I have come across or read anything by this author so she is new to me. I enjoyed the flow of the story and her style of writing. Luciana is a cop with psychic & telepathic abilities. She’s put on a case to fund out who is behind taking the women that have recently gone missing. She is put undercover to work in a club where she meets her new boss, Overmaster Salvatore Descallia. She is being shown around the building by another worker when some masked men come to rob the place. She nearly loses her life but is saved by Salvatore. He himself is also trying to find out who is pulling the strings and kidnapping all these women. It gets especially critical when the mate of a master is taken. While trying to figure out a strategy for finding the missing women these two start to develop an attraction that cannot be ignored. It’s hard for Salvatore at first because he had a mate that he lost hundreds of years before. He didn’t think he would come to love anyone again. There is ancient text in the vampire lore that speaks of a woman who will be the salvation of the vampire race. Luciana fits the description to a tee. Could Luciana be that woman? Could she also possibly be his mate reincarnated?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved Jake and Lauren. I love that there was a little drama in this book, but it wasn’t constantly something trying to keep them apart. Lauren came from nothing with a gold digger for a mother, so when Jake and she are thrown together by friends she has reservations, and understandably so. She is sweet and down to earth and is petrified of being seen as a gold digger herself because of her mother. Jake never views her that way. Beautifully written story and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
