Vampires of Atlantis is book one in the Atlantis series. It is a paranormal romance that centers around the characters of Ian and Katherine and is told from each of their POV. Ian is a vampire Prince from Atlantis who has been dwelling under the surface since Atlantis sank. His job is to protect the humans from any of the numerous monsters that might escape from Atlantis where they have been trapped. Ian finds himself back on the surface after 1000 years as he tries to track an escaped monster named Norgis. As Ian tracks the monster, he comes across Katherine who has been attacked and is near death. Uncertain of who is after this woman he feels that Norgis is somehow involved and must be after her for a reason. Something about this woman attracts him to her and calls to his soul. Ian decides to take Katherine back with him where she will be safe and can heal.
When Katherine wakes up, she finds herself in a strange place with a strange, but handsome, man. She begins to remember the attack on her life and tells Ian, who realizes that a precious artifact has been stolen and must be saved. The mission is no longer about finding Norgis, it is now about finding the descendant stone and returning it to its rightful place. They now must battle true evil for the survival of the Descendants of Atlantis. Ian feels a strong connection to Katherine, but can he ever have a true relationship with this woman from the surface?
This was a great book with a mesmerizing storyline, vivid scene descriptions, and interesting characters. Ian and Katherine are from two very different worlds but must join forces to save both of their worlds from true evil. Both are strong in their own respect. Ian can be overbearing at times, but Katherine stands her ground. The attraction between them is intriguing and I continued reading to see how or if a relationship between Ian and Katherine would be feasible. I found the premise of an underwater world filled with trapped monsters to be interesting and creative. This book had supernatural elements, vampires, monsters, danger, action, suspense, chemistry, romance, and the classic battle of good versus evil. A must read!
