Beau and Bett is a YA twist on Beauty and the Beast by Kathryn Berla. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Berla, but definitely won’t be the last. This was such a wonderful change from what I usually read. I love the way Ms. Berla spun the characters and featured issues that are happening today. This book had me hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. This was a great end of the summer read. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Berla.

This is a full length novel. Perfect for YA. A modern day Beauty and the Beast.

When Beau’s mom crashes into Bettina Range Rover. Beau heads over to try and work off his mother’s bill. Beau gets the job working on the ranch. In the process him and Bettina become slow friends. But Bett has her own ghosts in the closet. Can she trust Beau to keep her secrets? Can Beau trust Bett? Honesty and young love are the main story headlines. This is a great story for the young at heart as well as the Young Adults.

Kathryn Berla has written this sweet love story. I love her characters and the things they face, in this novel. This is a new author for me, and I will be recommending this to my young adult families and friends. This book is a quick page turner, with so much story to tell. I really enjoyed reading Kathryn Berla ‘ s romance. Job well done!

Anyone that knows me knows I love anything Beauty and the Beast! I love how this was different and roles were swopped! Never considered this and I loved it and I loved that twist. I feel like it just opened my eyes to a different perspective. It took awhile to know why Bett was call “the beast” but I get it, its relatable to readers. I loved the banter between the characters and the chemistry that sizzled off the page. I can’t wait for more with this author

The description of Beau & Bett drew me in, as I like reading retelling of fairy tales. Kathryn Berla says this is a modern retelling of beauty and the beast, but I didn’t really get that feel. I mean, Bett was called The Beast by kids at school, but aside from that, I just felt like it was a YA romance novel about two teenagers developing relationship. Regardless, I really enjoyed the story. I was pleasantly surprised the narrator of the book was Beau, since so many of these books are told from the girl’s point of view. The author has a wonderful way of writing, so we can envision the story unfolding. I look forward to reading more of her stories, because I really enjoyed it. The characters are great, and I love that they each have a back story as well as hidden traits we uncover along the way.
Bett, formally known as Bettina Diaz, is a spoiled rich kid, but isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She may change her clothes several times a day, and get a new car because her old one got some dents and scratches, but she is also a rancher, down to her core. Beau is, for lack of a better term, poor. His father is a picker, who is out of work due to injury, and his mom is a caretaker or maid. He is a teenager who spends much of his spare time babysitting his younger siblings and helping around the house. He is thrown in another world when he find himself having to work off debt to Bettina’s family. She seems so different, lives in a whole other world, in fact. But Beau cant help but feel drawn to her. Maybe its because of her social awkwardness, but it feels like something more. There were some surprising twists along the way, and I liked that it kept me guessing.

So when I first saw the cover for this book I didn’t really bother to read the blurb because I am all for modern day retelling’s of fairy tales – they are some of my favourite reads so I just jumped right in and I got a huge surprise – this book was not what I was expecting at all but it was a great read! Like I say not what I was expecting but enjoyable nonetheless. Although I will say that I don’t think I would have necessarily have guessed from reading the book that it was a retelling of Beauty and The Beast to be perfectly honest if it hadn’t been made clear on the cover. The authors writing was good, the story had a great pace and flow to it.
I did struggle to connect with the characters at times, I found them a little irritating but I think as the story progressed I began to understand them a little more.
I have read a few books by this author now and as always I look forward to reading more in the future.

This is a great love story about 2 people from different backgrounds being thrown together by chance and finding that they are more compatible than they first thought.

Beau is a young guy who lives with his family. His mum is hardworking supporting the family since his fathers accident. Life is tricky and not always easy for them as money is tight but they get by.
One day that changes when Beau’s mum has a accident with a car on the Diaz Ranch. The accident was with the daughter of the Ranch owner Bett.

With no way to pay for the damage, Beau offers to work on the ranch to make the payment.
Beau and Bett encounter each other a lot and things become different between them. By getting to know each other Beau was able to see the Beauty inside the Beast.

I loved this story, its a classic story retold in a different way for modern times but still held all the charm and wonder.

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla

4 stars

I Absolutely love Beauty and the beast, this took it on a new spin where the genders are flipped. Beau is a sweet young man trying to help his family by working to pay off a debt from his mother.  Bett is a spoiled young woman who has an awful nickname.

Its best to read the story to get what is happening on the surface.

Nice change of pace from what i have been reading lately.

I can’t wait for more from this author!

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla is a contemporary telling of Beauty and the Beast. It is a tale  that you will either love or hate. The story is told in the male POV and this version of the  telling sets your mind as to the other characters, which once again you will either love or  hate. It is YA story and there is a role reversal of who the beauty was and who was the beast.  Unfortunately, I could only see a vague relationship between Beauty and the Beast and the  story did not grab me but that being said it is written for the YA age group. It is a bit hard to  get into in the beginning but I did warm up a bit towards the end. Give it a go it may surprise  you.

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla. This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast with the roles reversed. It is loosely based on the story. Its the story of Beau LeFrancois and Bettina Diaz. They meet when Beau’s mom wrecks Bett’s luxury SUV and doesn’t have the money or insurance to cover the damage. Luckily no one was injured. Beau’s dad is out of work and his mom having this wreck causes his family major financial stress so Beau goes to the Diaz’s Ranch and asks if he can work off the debt for his family. He’s heard of “Bett” and her being called “The Beast” because of her crazy temper but he plans on just staying away from her and doing his job. Only Bett is fascinated with Beau and almost follows him along like a puppy. When Beau really gets to know Bett her realizes there is more to her than just a temper. His feelings begin to change towards her. Is he actually beginning to have feelings for “The Beast’? Read Beau & Bett to find out if their romance makes it! Sweet short story!

Beau and Bett is a brilliant modern take on a classic fairytale. I’ve read many books by Kathryn Berla and this by far my favourite. I was hooked from the get-go with this read, and even with it being a quick read I felt a-lot went on and we got a good insight into both Beau & Bett journeys. Both the main characters had great interactions with each other and I loved getting to know them both, you grew to love them both in different ways and wish they would get a HEA. This is definitely an all-rounder read, that can be enjoyed and loved by all.

I highly recommend this read, and cant wait to read more from this author!

Beau and Bett by Kathryn Berla is a young adult contemporary romance, which has a bit of a Beauty and the Beast feel to it, but with a modern twist. It is a sweet story that reverses the traditional roles in the classic Beauty and the Beast. It was definitely an interesting take on the classic fairy tale- and as I have read several of Ms. Berla’s books now, so I was happy to jump in and follow along.
Ms. Berla wrote the story in such a way that it felt ‘current’, entirely realistic, and believable. I liked Beau, but I couldn’t quite connect with Bett which made it difficult for me to like her- even though I really wanted to.
As with all Ms. Berla’s stories, his book delivers a great message- about family, friendship, being true to yourself, standing up for yourself, speaking up, and being heard.

Thank you, Ms. Berla!

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla is a five star novel. This is my second novel by this author and I have loved them both! This was like a modern day yelling of Beauty and the Beast. The roles are reversed, but it still did the trick! When we are introduced to Beau, his family is struggling. With dad out of work and all the bills piling up and mom having an accident, Beau knows he needs to do something to help out. When he goes to the estate of the rich kid his mom had an accident with, he asks them for a job to pay the bill to fix the car. Little does he know how awful Bett can be. As he gets to know her more, he realizes there is much more to her life than just being an awful, spoiled rich girl.

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla is a reboot of the classic Beauty and the Beast. Beau is a kind, young man who is working off his family’s debt to Bett’s. Bett is a beastly, unkind teen girl. Will Beau’s kindness rub off on her rough exterior? This is a quick read and it was a good story. The story of Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite tales and this did keep the spirit of the story despite all the changes. I am glad that the author took the liberty to make it her own and not just change one detail. I did miss some of my favorite parts of the original but did enjoy this as well. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla is a fun modern day fairy tale. Her characters resemble the fairytale but there are many more layers to their characters. I was a little skeptical because I love Beauty and the Beast. I was blown away. There were some harsh moments with the Beau and Bett but that was to be expected. Overall I would recommend this story to everyone. There needs to be a little more fairy tale stories in this chaotic world.

5-Stars

Beau & Bett by Kathryn Berla was an excellent family oriented and fun romance. It was a beautiful modern day beauty and the beast type story. I loved the main character Beau as he works to pay for his mothers accident at the Diaz Ranch. I also loved how Bett aka Bettina ‘s character developed and blossomed as the story was told. She was a beautiful soul and I felt that it was easy to relate to her character.

I could not put this book down and loved how easily the story seemed to flow from one page to the other. I also felt like I learned more about various berries with this book as well. It would definitely be fitting for younger readers and does not have any explicit content. This was the first book I have read from this author and I look forward to more from her in the future.

This book was loosely written around beauty and the beast but it was reversed. The H/Beau is the “sometimes” caring/sweet one that you couldn’t help but like when he finally make up his mind. The h/Bett is the one that is rough around the edges and has a lot of faults. I have to be honest and say it took a while for me to warm up to Bett. She was a hard character to like but once you squeezed past that rough exterior it was easier to like her. I liked watching these guys and seeing where their story was headed. The banter between the two was the best part of the story. Overall it was a nice story and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author and seeing what stories she puts out into the world.

Beau and Bett by Kathy Berla was a sweet, cute retelling, that was both intriguing and fun.

My first read from this author I went in opened minded, as fairytale retellings are my favourite thing to read. I have to say for a fairly short read this book was well written, smooth and it delivered what it set out to. But I don’t quite know if it’s a retailing, as most of the elements I loved about Beauty and The Beast, weren’t there. I mean it took place on weekends, there wasn’t a lot of time to truly connect, and the romance, though sweet and realistic, did feel rushed.

The gender swap was neat and original, and brought a new element to the story. Beau was a fun MC, and I liked his voice and narrative. Bett was, okay, we get to know her and why she is the why she is, and all that jazz, but I felt like due to her grandmother being a nasty, you-know-what, and it took away from Bett being, you know, The Beast. For me there was no true redemption, and I think there was a little missed opportunity there.

Overall this book was a fun little read that had me hooked, and I look forward to more from this author. To end this book gets my super high recommedantion and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

This is loosely set along the Beauty and the Beast storyline. Although the roles are reversed here. I really didn’t see the Beast come out via dialogue or actions. Bett was a surprise to me. I expected her to be snotty, uptight and ungracious. She is none of those things. Beau was a nice guy and he was always looking at the good side.

I wish there waS more on his family that we are introduced to in the beginning. They all seemed so interesting. The chapters were very short and I felt the story moving along quickly that way. There did seem like a bit much of the second by second on some things. I wonder if it could have been glossed over to move the storyline along. This will be a good read for teens.

This book is one of the best I’ve read in a long time. You get sucked into the characters lives and immediately fall in love. The Beauty and the Beast premise is normally tired and overdone, but this was written to perfection. The story clipped along at a good pace with enough hurry up and wait that you could REALLY feel Beaus plight. So many little side stories incorporated without a flaw. I am so hoping there’s a sequel coming! I can’t wait to read more about these characters and see their development. Well done. 5 stars.

BEAU AND BETT is a quick, multi-layered read that is labelled as a “retelling” of Beauty and Beast. While it does have some resemblance to the original fairytale, it absolutely stands in it’s own and I think it can be read by any ages reader.

I like how the author has spun a classic tale and modernized it. The author really brings a refreshing twist to the tale and just grips the reader’s attention. The characters are also realistic. The story just flows off of the pages.

I found myself really routing for Beau as I could relate to him. I also found it refreshing that he in the
sense was Beauty and that the Beast was Bett. I found the author’s use of the female character for the beast to be unique and really made the story. I found myself on the edge of my seat to see how the story would end as they truly came from two different worlds and I like how they end up merging together. The author did a good job at making her characters realistic and enjoyable. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
