BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa RicaBECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beckoned by Aviva Vaughn is the fifth part in her new serial that I just can’t get enough of. Throughout the series, I became hooked and made it so hard to put down until the very end. Beckoned is all about finding yourself and finding someone who understands and embraces the journey that you are on. Following the stories of Soren Lund and Elena Sol, you get a front row seat to a passion that can’t be tamed no matter the miles that separate these two. Soren is a man that who is trying to find his way in the world, and trying to right his world that was tilted on its axis from a heartbreak. In his journey he finds himself in a village in Costa Rica, where he meets Elena. Elena is so full of life, living on the edge as a professional surfer. While Costa Rica has always been her home she has always been a woman willing to do and go wherever to make her dreams a reality. Elena is a strong, beautiful woman, who has been hurt in the past and guards her heart against further pain. There is something about Soren that draws Elena in, but she is worried that he will attempt to change her or hurt her. Soren finds that he can’t get Elena out of his head, and is willing to take a leap of faith letting her in. The more that these two get to know each other the more that parting seems to be the worst thing. The sparks that fly between these two will leave you on the edge of your seat and attempting to catch your breath. Vaughn is a newer to me author but I am so happy that I picked this series up. I have loved every book so far and can’t wait to see how it will continue. While each of these books could be read as a single quickie read, I recommend reading them all in order as the characters will overlap and interact throughout each book. If you are looking for a great read, from a superb author, than this is one that you need to pick up today!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned was a good 4 star read and part five in the “Beckoned” series.

We start with Soren going to see Angela to solidify in his heart that they won’t have a future together. Angela is involved with Kieran and very happy.

Soren ends up moving to Costa Rica to start over. He decides to try new things like learning how to surf. He ends up meeting Elena and they hit if off. But, Elena has some secrets of her own. Can Elena and Soren have something or will secrets get in the way?

Elena was a strong independent character, who tries to protect her heart. When she met Soren the sparks flew. We do get some hot and steamy scenes from these two. I love the playlist and recipes, once I started I didn’t want to stop until I was done. The secondary characters were great and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Aviva Vaughn pulls you right in with her writing and the details are great. If your looking for a great series to read, I highly suggest this one.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beckoned, Adrift in Costa Rica is book 5 in the series by Aviva Vaughn and in my opinion, the best book in the series. I liked the previous books but there was something about Angela that I just couldn’t put my finger on. Her and Soren had chemistry and were cute together but, living so far away did a lot of damage. Not only the distance but, they were completely different time zones too!

Now here Soren is, he knows he has nothing holding him back. After seeing Angela one last time he decides to go somewhere tropical and hops a flight from California to Costa Rica.

I loved Soren In this book. He was funny, happy and acted like a carefree man his age. When he sees Elena and becomes great friends with her, I was rooting for them. Both Soren and Elena have skeletons in their closet and not to mention, Soren has a strict father who has his whole life planned out for him already across the globe. Will Soren and Elena be able to work past their issues and be together or is there to much stacked against them?

I believe Adrift in Costa Rica can be read as a stand alone but, it is much better to read in order to get a feel for the author and the back story.

Beckoned, Part 5, Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn
4 out of 5 Stars
Do yourself a favor and read all of the other books first. I have loved this series from the start. These characters are ones that you will fall in love with again and again. Even the ones who you grow to hate, you love because of the depth and reasoning they add to the story. This contemporary romance novel will set your heart on fire and tug at the heart strings. I will admit, that when I start a series and I ship a couple, I have a hard time letting them go, and that was so true with this novel, but then I started to love the idea of Soren and Elena and what Elena did for Soren and his character and what he does for her. I am still getting used to them as a couple, and it will take a bit of growing on me, but I love where this is going!
Ms Vaughn continues to surprise and impress me with her clever twists, detail to characters, and her desire to bring her story to live. Highly recommended.

Beckoned, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica is the latest installment by Aviva Vaughn. I am so totally hooked on this series. Part of my is glad it isn’t over yet but at the same time I’m dying to know how things turn out for Soren.

Soren finally starts to figure out who he is as an individual and not the oldest son and heir in the Lund family. It takes getting his heart ripped out and then taking a trip on a whim but he is getting there.

Elena is just amazing in my eyes. She does so much for those she loves and is willing to sacrifice her happiness.

So now I have to wait patiently for the next book in this series. I’m anything but patient so this wait is going to be hard. So looking forward to what happens next.

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn is a contemporary romance story that picks up where the last one finishes except this is Soren’s story. It is a story about finding yourself and second guessing all you thought you wanted. Losing love and trying to move on and reevaluate everything and building a new life. Aviva’s writing style paints the picture so vivid you feel a part of the story and flows nicely keeping you engaged. captures you from the first page. Her writing is descriptive, where you feel like you are right along side the characters. The writing flows and keeps you engaged. The passion and emotions the characters feel you feel. It’s another great read and part of this series. I recommend you start at the beginning of the series and get lost in the destinations and what they offer.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Adrift in Costa Rica is the 5th book in the Beckoned series by Aviva Vaughn and I am so glad to have another book in this series. I fell in love with the workaholic Soren in the first 4 books, now I get to fall for the surfer Soren who looks like Thor – YES PLEASE! Like the last 4 books, the writing will have you feeling like you are in Costa Rica right beside Soren and Elena.

A heartbroken Soren has now found himself is a small village in Costa Rica trying to find what is next for him. After a small surfing accident, Soren meets Elena an ex-pro surfer. Soren has decided to extend his stay and take surfing and Spanish lessons. While meeting Elena, Soren has become a lighter version of himself but will Elena’s past put a stop to their romance.

I so need Soren to find his true love; someone that will balance out his workaholic side with his laid-back side. But I have a feeling Elena is not that person if she lets her past back into her life. Aviva again, you have me on the edge of my seat ready for New Zealand.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Aviva Vaughn has graced us with another wonderful installment in the ‘Beckoned’ series, this time she deviates from the norm and tells us what happened to Soren after he left Angela’s book party in Los Angeles. Obviously, this is the fifth book in the series and it would be best to read all four previous books to get a better idea about who Soren is and what brought him to Costa Rica. Of all the places I pictured Soren escaping to, Costa Rica was nowhere close to on my list, but Aviva Vaughn has surprised me in the best way with sending Soren there and showing us a side to him I didn’t think existed. This Soren has grown and changed in so many good ways and the tiny tropical town he ends up in somehow fits him beautifully. One of my favorite parts of Aviva Vaughn’s books is the scenery and this book doesn’t disappoint! Costa Rica sounds like such a magical place and Aviva Vaughn does such an incredible job of describing every detail to make the reader feel like they are right there with Soren. My other favorite part of her books is all the cooking and wonderful foods she describes! So, when Soren meets the locals and starts to learn about the cuisine, I got so excited! It was nice to read about Soren and his adventure, so I can’t wait to read “Beckoned, Part 6: Adrift in New Zealand!!” I give this book 5 stars, obviously!

Beckoned Part Five: Adrift in Costa Rica (Beckoned Series Book #5) by Aviva Vaughn – Review by Angela Hayes

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa RicaBECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beckoned: Adrift in Costa Rica is part five of the “Beckoned” series by Aviva Vaughn. This story is a slow-burn, contemporary women’s fiction- full of vibrant and vivid descriptions of travel, adventure, food, loss, recovery, discovery, romance, spice, friendship, lessons, and growth.
This book takes us on a journey with Soren, what happens to him after he is forced to face the fact that he and Angela don’t have a future, and that she is madly in love with someone else.

“So here he was, standing in the lurid bookstore-cum-nightclub, watching as the colored lights painted the face of the woman who had flown into his life like a burning comet, and then exited it just as dramatically, leaving his life cold and hollow.
And she was in the arms of another man.
And it was all his fault.
He didn’t know how to bring the warmth back into his life, now that his sun was gone.
His heart began to race painfully, the blood draining from his head, a sense of surreal disorientation washing over him.
Although part of him would have preferred to hate Kieran, it just wasn’t in his nature; and Kieran was too well mannered to deserve it.”

“Dearest Soren,
Thank you for some of the most beautiful memories of my entire life.
I’ll never forget you.
Always,
Angela”

I have loved this series so much, devouring every word and I was so conflicted seeing Angela and Kieran together and loving how great they were together, but feeling so bad for Soren at the same time. I wasn’t really sure how Ms. Vaughn was going to approach this story, what direction she’d take- so my mind was reeling with the possibilities. I did have high expectations, because Soren really needed something good to happen to him to make up for so much heartache. I loved what Ms. Vaughn did with this story and it was every bit as good as I had hoped it would be. Even though I knew Ms. Vaughn wouldn’t make it easy for Soren and would make him ‘work for his happiness. I also love how much more of Soren we get to see. Even after 4 other books, there was still quite substantial character growth and development.

“He had long ago made peace with his father’s inability to show affection. If he was honest with himself, he even saw a bit of it in his own mannerisms. He had been taught that it was better to say or do nothing rather than say or do the wrong thing. It took losing Angela for him to realize how much like his father he had become.
Which was why he’d run away to Costa Rica. He was tired of living his father’s plan for him. He wanted to distance himself from everything that defined him—investment banking, Europe, his family—so he could figure out who he really was, or really wanted to be.”

Soren really stepped out of his comfort zone, as well as out from his father’s shadow. He relocates to a new country, abandoning everything he knows, for a fresh start. He learns the native language and makes some friends. Life slowly gets brighter and begins to look up for him.
Little does he know how much a surfing session would change his life, as an accident nearly costs him everything, but also introduces Elena into his world. I was surprised by how much I liked Elena, after Angela I wasn’t sure I would be able to connect with her, but I shouldn’t have worried as Ms. Vaughn has never let me down before. Elena is all woman. Sexy, sassy and vibrant. I loved the banter between her and the other characters. But Elena has some secrets which will come into play and gives this story another added element of intrigue. What happens when her past threatens their new-found happiness? You really should read all the fantastic details for yourself, I’m sure you will enjoy the book/series just as much as I have!
I loved Ms. Vaughn’s attention to detail, and the way she used her words to bring her story and characters to life. The whole series has been wonderfully captivating- and I am hard pressed to pick a favourite because the series just seems to get better and better with each new instalment. I am still convinced that this series would make a superb Television mini-series! It really is different from a lot of other reads- the descriptions and scene setting are so vivid, rich and vibrant- I was “seeing’ it in pictures, rather than merely reading the words. All the sights, smells and tastes of the book come alive, transporting me to Costa Rica alongside the characters.
A fantastic addition to the series and another splendid read from a talented author!

Thank you, Ms. Vaughn!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well, I didn’t see that coming!

Beckoned Part 4: From Barcelona with Love by Aviva Vaughn, you must read this series in order and trust me you won’t be disappointed. If you want a series with a slow burn, long-distance relationship with a hint of a love triangle and Hot Sexy scenes than these books are for you. Aviva writing you will get you hooked in London and leave you wanting more in Barcelona.

Thru all four books, I have been rooting for Angela and Soren but now I am heartbroken and happy at the same time. I understand the reasoning behind it but, if she loved him that much where was the fight. The fact the Angela didn’t run straight to Kieran, made me happy and I am glad that Angela found someone that made her happy the way that was meant to be.

I am SO READY for Costa Rica, bring on more Soren!!

Beckoned: From Barcelona With Love is the fourth part of the “Beckoned” series by Aviva Vaughn. I thought the last instalment of the series was interesting, and the best of the bunch- but this book takes the cake! I certainly wasn’t expecting the way the story played out… my mind had wandered down several possible outcomes/scenarios, but I wasn’t certain which way Ms. Vaughn would take the story, and I was pleasantly surprised by what I read. It really was the perfect way to take the storyline and I love, love, love it. And that ending- OH MY MY MY!!!
The whole story/series has been fascinating and captivating- with Ms. Vaughn upping the ante with each instalment, each book slightly eclipsing the last. I was enthralled through each and every book in a way I never expected to be going into this series. Having read the four books now, I can’t help thinking what a wonderful Television mini-series this would make. It really is different from a lot of other reads- the descriptions and scene setting are so vivid, rich and vibrant- I was ‘seeing’ the scenes play out before my eyes. The sights, smells and tastes of the books/series come alive, along with the characters. I could go on and on about this book and series, but instead I just highly recommend you dive in and read all the wonderful details for yourself. You are bound to love them as much as I do!
How excited am I to discover that there will be a part 5 and 6 coming out!!!! I just can’t wait!!
Another fantastic read from a great author!

Thank you, Ms. Vaughn!

BECKONED, Part 3: From Los Angeles with LoveBECKONED, Part 3: From Los Angeles with Love by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned Part 3: From Los Angeles with Love by Aviva Vaughn was a little more drama-filled than the last two books; I liked it. After an unresolved goodbye in London, Angela and Soren are trying to make their long-distance relationship work. They have a few bumps along the way, but the biggest challenge is in the form of a Hot Motorcycle riding Bookstore Owner, or as Angela calls him Mr. TDD (Tall Dark and Dangerous). What will Soren do when he finds out who Angela is spending most of her time with? We already know about Soren’s jealous side.

Soren and Angela know how to heat up the pages with their phone calls and form smoke on my kindle when they are in each other’s arms. Angela and Soren have the chemistry but have different takes on life, while Angela and Kieran share something just not sure if it’s more than friendship. Looking forward to the next book to see how this drama will play out.

BECKONED, Part 2: From Bath with LoveBECKONED, Part 2: From Bath with Love by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned: From Bath with Love is the second part of the “Beckoned” series by Aviva Vaughn. The story picks up right where book one finished, so I really recommend that you read the first book before beginning this one to get the best reading experience.
This is a slow-burn, contemporary women’s fiction- that is jam packed full of vibrant and vivid descriptions of travel, adventure, food, longing, second chances, and romance. The book is a very quick and easy read, but the content certainly isn’t lacking. The author packed a lot into this book and it felt like a much longer novel, in a good way. I am really enjoying this series, following Angela and Soren on their journey. This book delves into their emotional mind sets, and we got to see a little more of their characters. There was insecurity, jealousy, push-pull, drama, and some complexity to their situation, that I thought made this story stand out a little more from the first.
As with the first book, I loved Ms. Vaughn’s attention to detail, and the way she used her words to bring Bath/London to life. I felt like I was right there with them.
The book has a fast pace and a smooth flow. And as with the first story, it still retains the ‘classic’ feel, much like a Jane Austin novel.
The writers style is smooth, inviting and very easy to read. She made me want to find out what would happen next, I really want to know where the story will lead, so I have already dived into the next book, that review will follow very soon!

Thank you, Ms. Vaughn!

“If I know what love is, it’s because of you.”

Beckoned: From Los Angeles With Love is the Third part of the “Beckoned” series by Aviva Vaughn. This instalment of the series is where it really gets interesting! The whole story/series has been fascinating and captivating- but this book takes it to a whole new level. Ms. Vaughn has upped the ante, so to speak, and produced a story that I devoured in matter of hours. I couldn’t put it down and HAD to find out what was happening. The books just seem to get better and better…. And the love triangle of sorts/the ‘threat,’ and the emotional roller coaster that this story took me on had me sooooo conflicted. I love the characters and thought I knew how their story would play out. But Ms. Vaughn brought in a bit of a twist, a surprising element, that really drew me in and held me captive the entire way!
I read this book about a week ago and have been mulling over how to do it the justice that it deserves. The whole series has been a surprising find, I never expected to love it as much as I have/do. Ms. Vaughn had my emotions and allegiances all tied up in knots, And I loved every minute.
A lot has happened since the first book and Barcelona. Angela and Soren have had an interesting journey. Now, their relationship will be tested like never before. Will it survive? I really don’t want to give away too much because this story is brilliant, and you really should read it and discover all the juicy details for yourself. I highly suggest reading the first two books in the series, before beginning this one- as the story is a continuation from book one and will give you a better understanding of characters, motivations, backstory, and overall storyline.
This book gives a new meaning to the word sizzling! There are some no-holds-barred romps that singed my eyebrows and melted the screen on my kindle!
This is definitely the best of the books, so far. It had everything you could want in a great read- it was captivating, sentimental, emotional, romantic, seductive, sexy, realistic and entirely believable. I am now really anxious about the next book, and to find out how the story will end.
Another fantastic read from a great author!

Thank you, Ms. Vaughn!
