Elsbeth finds herself leaving Texas for a small island in Guernsey, it is fitting since her relationship has hit disaster in an embarrassing fashion. She never expects her new life to be embroiled in an unsolved mystery or to be spending time with Bishop, a man who is a mystery in itself. As everything begins to unfold, Elsbeth finds herself embarked in a journey she never anticipated.

This was completely unexpected for me. The story had a little bit of everything I look for in a book. I really liked Elsbeth and Bishop, intrigued from the beginning. Had several twists and turns I never expected. Will definitely go and read other books from this talented author.

I picked this book not knowing what to expect and was instantly hooked by it. I was hooked right away with it, it was filled with suspense, mystery, secrets, family, drama and so many twists and turns, I kept wondering what was going to happen next and if our great character Elsbeth will figure it all out. I really enjoyed the whole element of the story, and the characters really made you feel like you know them. This roller coaster of a ride of a book will have you reading it till the end. So picking up author Kellie Wallace for the first time I didn’t know what to expect, but boy oh boy was I instantly a fan. This book was so well written that it truly kept me on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out whodunit. Like I’m usually not a murder mystery person, but I said what the heck and picked it up and gave it a try(I highly recommend you do the same, you will not regret it). This book has a preternatural element to it. I think that’s why I enjoyed it soo much. This book will play with your emotions heavily and has some nail biting suspenseful twists and turns. With more and more danger from every secret that’s uncover.I now want to go check out some of the authors’ other books, especially the Earthbound Series, and Darkness Before Dawn books. They look super intriguing to read.

Elsbeth is on quite a rollercoaster of experiences in this novel. There is the difficult decision of breaking an engagement, the loss of an aunt, an unexpected inheritance, a move and all of the forms of grief that come along with big life changes. You see her relationships with her mom, dad and sister, and you meet a very interesting cast of new characters along the way.

When Elsbeth decides to take a leap on new opportunities even though her father is ill, it quickly becomes overwhelming between the cottage, selling her property and working her way through her emotions. When she meets Bishop and realizes they have a connection, will it make her life seem more manageable, or just be another ride she has to bare until she can work through it at the end? Bishop wants to protect Elsbeth as they work together to solve the mystery. When they get to the end, will Bishop be strong enough to keep her safe, and will she be strong enough to hold on through her pain?

So much mystery. This is my third new author for the month of April and so far, my favorite. The world Kellie Wallace builds is one of reality and possibilities. Main female character Elsbeth is intriguing and inspiring.
Elsbeth feels at peace in nature and when she finishes renovating essentially her dream home everything begins to end and begin at the same time. Her boyfriend of three years had never been faithful with her and yet she held on to the hope until he proposed the night, she found proof, and a light went off and she was done. She began to take back her life, her independence and a call from her mom gave her everything she needed to move forward. Great-aunt Lorraine had passed away, she had a remote island off the coast of Guernsey and was the opportunity she needed to, as her daddy said, fly and be free. But quickly she begins to see the flaws in her hope and the light when Bishop appears in the middle of the night at her door.
Can Elsbeth help Bishop discover his past? Will Elsbeth be able to solve the mysteries of her new island before it becomes too much? How can she move forward when everything is said and done? Everything about this book pulls you in and fills you with the mystery and emotions of the characters as you hope for Elsbeth to get everything she deserves and more. Cannot wait to read more by this incredible author.

This was an enjoyable read. The author did a great job building the characters and. Elsbeth’s journey was full of twists and turns. This story had romance, suspense, paranormal, family and more. Even though there were many elements going on in this book the author did a good job bringing all together so that I became invested in the outcome. I found myself rooting for Elsbeth to find happiness and. There are a lot of emotions, grief, love, forgiveness, happiness. I could feel the ups and downs of the characters’ emotions as they went through them. It was hard to put this book down once I started. This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m glad I took a chance on it. I recommend this book.

This was my first book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly blown away with how quickly I was absorbed into Elsbeth’s world. She is an incredibly relatable character that goes through such traumatic events, but somehow has an impossible resolve. All of the characters had in-depth development, and the flow of the story was great. This author has an amazing talent to craft a story that stands out as unique in a very competitive genre. Get ready for the twists and turns that you won’t see coming and experiencing every emotion possible throughout this book. If you love paranormal romances, then this should be your next read without a doubt!

This was a captivating romance with a paranormal twist which kept me hooked throughout. Having inherited a house from a long-lost relative off the coast of Guernsey, Elsbeth embraces the chance to start again. Elsbeth moves into the remote cottage and enjoys her new idyll surrounded by crystal waters and gray seals. However, when a mysterious stranger turns up her new life is threatened as Bishop claims to be an angel searching for his bones. As Elsbeth and Bishop grow closer they uncover dark secrets about the cottage and learn about the double murder that happened there. The more they discover about its history the more of Bishop’s past comes to life, and Elsbeth has to confront her own demons. The engaging storyline kept me gripped, whilst the descriptive narrative brought both the characters and the setting to life, which made me feel immersed in the story.

Elsbeths’ life was in shambles and needed something. A well-timed inheritance was just what she needed because it let her move and start anew. However, she inherited more than just a house and has to help save her new friends before she herself gets hurt. This book was well written and kept the audience engaged. Different twists and turns in the story made it exciting but yet not hard to follow.

Before I Let You Go is a contemporary romance with danger, drama, mystery, suspense, intrigue, secrets, and paranormal elements. The story centers around the MC Elsbeth whose life seems to be falling apart with one bad thing after another happening to her. When she inherits a house on a remote island from an estranged aunt Elsbeth seizes the opportunity to have a fresh start. This, however, does not come easy as she is wracked with guilt about leaving behind her ailing father and how she ended things with her boyfriend. When strange things start happening at the island home it leads Elsbeth to Bishop, who claims to be an angel, and a mystery that needs to be solved before time runs out. As secrets are revealed she uncovers the house’s dark history. I was gripped by the storyline and the earthbound spirit that needed Elsbeth’s help. This was a well written story with great characters and a unique storyline that kept my attention until the final pages.

What a beautiful and unique story. I found this book to be an easy read that instantly had me hooked. I enjoyed reading and experiencing the characters’ growth throughout the book. I found the main character, Ellsbeth quite interesting and relatable, even down to her faults. She really had a strong sense of bad luck, insanely impulsive decisions but a very powerful heart of gold. Her character grows exponentially in such a short amount of time and by the end, she almost appears like a brand new person who owns up to her mistakes and learns from them. Also the love between her and Bishop, while unique, was stunningly portrayed with the author’s incredible writing skills.

I think readers will thoroughly enjoy this intriguing story. I give this 5 out of 5 stars.

Before I Let You Go by Kellie Wallace is the first book that I have read by this author, so I had no reference as to what her storytelling was like- but the cover grabbed my attention, and the blurb fired my curiosity to find out what happened. So I happily one-clicked myself a copy to explore.
I loved the premise of the story, right from the get-go I was intrigued by the whole earth-bound spirit, remote island murder mystery aspect and I was excited to see how the story played out.
What I discovered is a contemporary paranormal romantic mystery with drama, danger, suspense, intrigue, and uncovering secrets. While, for the most part, I enjoyed the story- there were aspects that pulled me out of the storyline and had me questioning things.
For me, there was a lot of contradictory/conflicting information/details. As well as getting whiplash from the characters sudden changes of opinion after having given very strong opinions to the contrary only paragraphs earlier, with no reasons for their change of heart. It felt like a lot of manufactured drama and that left a ‘bad taste’ in my mouth. It also made it difficult to connect with the characters or feel like I was fully invested in them and the outcome of the story.
The story was slow to get going, it was at least a quarter of the way into the book before the ‘story’ really started. So that was frustrating. A lot of what happened in that first quarter of the book could, in my opinion, have been condensed into a couple of chapters, or been told in a prologue. It just ‘dragged’ the beginning of the story out way too far and took away from the intrigue of the ‘actual’ story.
The transitions from scene to scene were somewhat abrupt and confusing too. With only a sentence space between one scene and the next, which didn’t allow enough space to ‘end’ what had been happening, before continuing, which made one scene flow into another, causing confusion. That had me rereading parts to figure out what was going on before realising that there were different ‘scenes’ playing out. A bigger space, symbol, motif, swirl, or other visual clue would have allowed a smoother scene break and given the story a better flow, while saving any kind of confusion.
Again, though, I did overall enjoy the story- I just feel like the author missed the opportunity to take her book to a whole other level and really stand out from ‘the rest’.
But, I see that the author has a lot of other books to her name, which makes me curious to see what else she can do, so I will be going back later to explore more of her books and find out.
Happy reading…

Thank you, Kellie Wallace!

The author does a great job of building the characters throughout the story and giving the reader a chance to really root for Elsbeth and for her to find happiness.
