Full Glasses and Burju Shoes by Blake Blessing. This is the story of Perrin Michaels & Emiliano Espocito or Perrin & Emil. They are both strong characters who have been thru their own special kinds of hell. Perrin is a glass half full kinda girl trying to keep as busy as possible so she doesn’t have to dwell on bad things. Emil is a strong, loving, protective war vet who is bitter and trying to just get by. Perrin dives into all types of hobbies, rock climbing, bunjee jumping the more extreme the better and Emil is trying to get back to his old pre-war self. He has horrible flash backs and doesn’t feel like he fits in. Once they meet sparks fly but they are both not really looking for a relationship because of their past. Perrin might just be what Emil needs to draw out of his bitterness and shell. Will they help heal each other or will they let their pasts dictate their futures. Such a good read that showed me the after life of our war heroes and how they try so hard to fit back into life after seeing such destruction and death. It will keep you thinking long after you’ve read it.

This is my second book by this author and I enjoyed it as much as the first one. I enjoy the writing style and her characters always seem to grab me right from the start, this one had me thinking I had things figured out only to be totally wrong and sitting on the edge of my seat.

This one was a bit more emotional than the first one I read and had me a hot mess through most of the book. Two completely broken people who seem to have too many differences to make it work seem to find a way to fit perfectly. I loved how strong Perrin was and with her attitude and living life loving adventures and taking chances it made me want to be her friend and her loyalty to friends and family was awesome. Im impressed by how this author handled Emil and how she tackled his PTSD it was written beautifully and had my emotions all over the place. I loved the inner dialogues that were portrayed by these characters.

I absolutely loved this story and have already added this author to my one click list, I can’t recommend it enough and also can’t wait for more from this author. I also want to learn Bachata dancing, I googled it and love it!

Amazing!

This is a military-new adult romance story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This story is well written and the characters are true to life. This is a story about two different people who are in need of healing. What will happen when their paths cross? Will they find more than they realize and maybe even some healing in the process? This story took me on an emotional roller coaster ride of various emotions that I highly recommend reading.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Full Glasses and Burju Shoes by Blake Blessing is a wonderful romance book that I loved reading. It hooked me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. I loved reading about the characters of Perrin Michaels and Emiliano Espocito. Perrin is a young woman who you could call impulsive and obsessive. I really loved her character because she is full of life and upbeat. She has a kind heart and is a caring person. Emiliano is a war vet and feels that he is broken. He is a man that doesn’t feel that he fits in anymore and is having a hard time adjusting. These two have an attraction to each other and he feels a pull towards her. He has felt more alive since meeting her. They have chemistry together and feel a desire for one another. What does the future hold for Perrin and Emiliano? Will they learn to trust each other? Will they begin to heal each other? Will they find happiness together? Read this story to find out. This is a book in which the characters go through many different emotions and face different situations in their lives. I could empathize with them and found my emotions going up and down with theirs. There are heartbreaking moments and also heartwarming ones as well. I found myself caring for both Perrin and Emiliano with each chapter that I read, and I was rooting for them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about the part that the additional characters played in the story and how they interacted with Perrin and Emiliano. The bantering back and forth between characters had me with a smile on my face. There are also serious moments that make you think. This is a story that I found myself thinking about even after I had finished reading it. Highly recommended.

Impulsive and Obsessive.

Two words people use to describe me.
What does that mean?
I impulsively jump into hobbies and get…obsessed.
Rock climbing. Bungee jumping. You name it.
Why?
Because I need to keep the glass full.
There’s no time for romance or sticky relationships.
It’s just not who I am.

Bitter and Broken.

Two words everyone uses to describe me.
What does that mean?
I’m fucking broken and bitter over it… Leave me alone.
War vet. Life failure. You name it.
Why?
Because I don’t fit in here anymore.
I don’t want to care about someone else when I’m stuck.
It’s just not who I am.

Marks of the Mazza is the first book in the Mazza series and it is off to a great start. This a paranormal romance/reverse harem and i just ate it up. I couldn’t get enough of the book and when i started i couldn’t put it down.
Isolde is the main character in the book. She meets a mysterious handsome man and feels an attraction that is hard to ignore. After a kiss her world is changed forever.
The male characters in this book are Donato, Sage, Egan and Jari. Oh Man. They are hot hot hot. Pushy typical alpha males. And of course i love them!
The secondary characters in the book are also great and the author did a wonderful job at world building in this book and i cannot wait to get my hands on more by this author!!
I would recommend to a friend.

Four Stars

This story wasn’t what I expected. This is both a good and bad thing. I thought the story was going to have more meaning and be about a girl coming into who she was meant to be. Instead you get a girl trying to navigate 4 relationships and possibly help stop a crazy villain. The story was bad it just lacked a goal. I didn’t really get the point of it. On another note I liked the start of Sage’s and Isolde. He was so standoffish and weary. She disliked him but was draw to him. He came from a troubled past and she did as well. I felt that once they get past that awkward moment they would be perfect. I don’t understand why people need multiple partners. On a good day I can hardly handle one. But to each their own. This is my first book by this author. Though I wasn’t overly impressed I will be reading the next story because you never know how it will change. Plus I need to know what happens with Sage. I also liked Rand because he kept it real with her from day one.

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem’book is the first isntallment in Blake Blessing’s The Mazza Series and what a beginning it is! It is her debut book and she knocked it out of the park! I cannot wait for the next instalment as she left us hanging … well, that is the meaning with a series, right?
In this first book we are introduced to Isolde – the Mazza – someone who bears the marks of all four houses of this mysterious people and supposedly holds untold powers. Their appearance signals great change and they are supposed to a saviour … the thing is though that Isobel thinks she is completely boringly normal and she has no idea who those people are and what the different players in those different houses are …
What do you do when you end up in a wrong ‘Uber” with a bunch of sexy guys aka our Fae guys, each of them from one of the four houses and the beginning of Issy’s harem. Depending how the writer spins her story … there might be quite a few of them. In the first book we are introduced to Donato “Nato”, Sage, Egan, Jari and Rand …
It is funny how I started thinking of Laurell K Hamilton’s Meredith Gentry series and maybe that explains why I loved the Marks of the Mazza so much! Well done Ms Blessing! You are in good company!

Imagine getting into the wrong car and finding your destiny. Wow this book just really had me hooked from page one. I love supernatural and paranormal romances and to add the extra drama well this book has just ticked all the boxes. The author has such a unique and refreshing take on the Fae.

Isolde really doesn’t have a clue what she steps into and I just love the whole sort of mystery and
drama that plays out. The whole dynamic of her and the four Fennin is just mind blowing. I find the author has such a great way to bring this story to life. I found myself feeling the emotions and doubts
that Isolde was feeling. I really liked the concept of the reverse harem and the whole idea that she was the one to bring about the destined change. I really cannot wait to read more of this series and
also more from his author.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem is the first book in Blake Blessing’s Mazza series. Isolde – like all of us – was just waiting for an Uber when destiny came knocking. After getting in the wrong car, Isolde discovers the world of the Fennin, an ancient fae like race, with incredible powers, that are on the brink of war. Isolde is a prophesied Mazza, a powerful supernatural, who has the ability to unite all the houses and bring unity to the Fennin. After being abducted by four insanely hot Fennin, Isolde must navigate their treacherous world, and decide on which side of the fence she sits, as she has the power to tip the scales.
I really loved the concept and story for Marks of the Mazza. I thought it was very creative and engaging. Blessing does incredible job of reeling the reader in and keep them in just enough suspense, so that they never want to put the book down. Isolde as a main character was fearless, and sassy; she also had a very distinct voice as a narrator. The voice wasn’t one that I could get my head around and enjoy, I found her to be to over explaining as a narrator, and it would disrupt the flow of the story. But that’s really the only thing I can fault from the book, and it’s just a personal preference. What I might not like, you might love. One thing I loved more than anything was the chapter title art, it’s beautiful watercolour, and you’ll have to get the book to see it. As it is stunning, and I’m a sucker for art in books.
I enjoyed this first book of the series and look forward to reading the next. 3/5 stars.

Marks of the Mazza (Book One of The Mazza Series) by Blake Blessing – Review by Michelle Austin

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marks of the Mazza was an interesting 4 star read and book one of the Mazza series.
This is my first read by Blake Blessing and her debut as well. This is an interesting new twist to paranormal romance/Reverse Harem and my first time reading this genre.

After closing up for the night at her job, Isolde ends up getting into a car that she thought was her Uber, there are very handsome men in the car. She ends up seeing the men again and there is an attraction that she is feeling. After a toe curling kiss she finds herself waking up in a whole new world where she is staying with Donato, Sage, Egan and Jari.

These men have been friends since childhood and have made an agreement amongst them, to mate with a Mazza, when they find her to get their full powers to help in the war. We discover that Sage may have a little glitch in his commitment, will he follow through with mating? There are definitely plenty of other’s very interested in taking his place, good and bad.

There are additional characters introduced and they all added a great element to the story. I was pulled right in and really enjoyed this story. There is so much going on and we do get some hot mating scenes as well. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. We did end with a cliff hanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I give Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) by Blake Blessing, 4 stars.

Isolde lives a normal, if somewhat boring, life. That all changed the moment she gets into the wrong car with some men she has never seen before. They say they are another race and she is the one they have been waiting for. That she bears the marks of the four houses of these mysterious beings. And to make things even more interesting, she is supposed to mate with one male from each house of this race. But they are not the only ones looking for her. There are others that want to use her and will do whatever it takes. Can she believe all this? If so, does she go along with it?

This was a very interesting book. I have never read a reverse harem book before and maybe that was why, but it felt a little confusing to me at first. But the more I got into the story, the more drawn in I got. Besides the romantic side, there is action and betrayal. Isolde is interesting herself and easy of the men in her life are different, making this an even better book.

If you like supernatural romance and/or reverse harem romance, this book is for you.

I am pretty amazed that this is the author’s debut novel. The story was interesting, original and well written. There is a mixture of action, drama, some suspense and great sex. It is a reverse harem/poly amorous romance. The characters are likeable and easy to fall in love with. Each one has their own personality but they blend so well with one another. My favourite of Isolde’s lusty legion has to be Sage. He’s fighting fate the most but I have a feeling that he will love her the hardest. I believe we will see many more layers to his character as the series progresses. You weren’t sure if you could trust certain characters and I think that’s one of the things that kept the story interesting.

Isolde accidentally stumbles into a world she didn’t know existed. They believe she is some kind of messiah to save their world. Her life is in danger and she’s not sure what’s going on. Within twenty four hours she finds out magic is real, she’s not fully human, she needs to save the world and bind with four men. To say she is overwhelmed is a bit of an understatement. As sexy as these guys are, she grew up with the belief of being with one man at a time. She’s finding it difficult to wrap her head around the fact that the guys are fine sharing her. I’m glad she wasn’t the type that was too innocent. She has a good head on her shoulders, has values and doesn’t just wait to be saved. She has a strength of character that I liked.

The story flowed well. The author knew how to capture your attention and keep it throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it. I’m excited because I think I found a new favourite author.

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1) Blake Blessing is great start to the series. The story is a paranormal fantasy romance with a twist. I wasn’t sure what I was getting with a reverse harem plot but it certainly did not disappoint me in any way shape or form. Right from the start I was pulled into this group of characters, that are endearing and interesting and found myself falling in love and completely invested in them as individuals and as a group. There is lots of drama, action and adventure, danger and suspense. You will be enthralled with the storyline and the vivid scenes and Blake’s imagination knows no bound. The story flowed well and you are so engrossed that before you know it, it will all over and you just want to scream because you want more. Geesh, book two can not come quick enough. Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is going to be one of those series that will get me in trouble. Firstly, I must say I was blown away that this is Blake Blessing’s debut novel. Girl has some writing skills! I am an avid fan of reading alternate lifestyle romances because usually they are intricate stories with layers that you just don’t find in a one on one relationship storyline. That said, this is also a difficult thing to write and can make or break an entire story or series. This was absolutely not the case here! This was flawless, emotional, and gripping. There was just the right amount of slow burn romance between the parties involved with the bonus additions of paranormal twists to keep you extra intrigued.

Isolde Bardot is not your average naiveté lead female. She can hold her own, and really she needs to because when she gets into the wrong Uber she will have to handle a whole new world and all its complexities. There is never a dull moment for her between her ‘Lusty Legion’, confusing and realistic magic, and different realms? I was so bummed when the book ended, not a killer cliffhanger, but enough I will be anxiously on the edge of my seat awaiting the next in the series now! Thanks for such an amazing adventure Blake Blessing!

Marks of the Mazza: Reverse Harem (Mazza Series Book 1)
By Blake Blessing
I will admit this is the first reverse harem book I have read and I am so glad I decided to go with it. I love the diversity in all the characters involved. This book drew me in from the beginning and kept me captivated throughout. Isolde was just getting by, working two part time jobs and going through the routine of life as a loner. That all changes the night she accidentally gets into the wrong vehicle that she thought was her uber. She is suddenly thrust into a world of magic and she’s told she is the “Mazza” which is the answer to the Fennine/fae, they believe she can bring great change. As Issy is trying to wrap her mind around this huge responsibility and learn their ways, there are also people trying to hurt her. I found while I was reading I was being taken on many different directions, I wasn’t sure who is good, Who is bad? Which is awesome!! Just when you think you might have a grasp there’s a twist in the plot and I found myself rethinking what I thought I knew. I loved the different angles and how bits and pieces of information were revealed. I found myself invested in these characters, I so badly want the lusty legion to be the good guys!! I absolutely loved reading this book, i just couldn’t put it down, and now I’m going crazy waiting to read the next one!!! The author did an exceptional job creating a wonderfully well written story that captured my attention!! I highly recommend this book!!

Marks of the Mazza, by Blake Blessing, is the first book in the Mazza series. This is a reverse harem story intermixed with a paranormal theme. The author captured my attention with this unique story telling. One woman, four men, danger, suspense/mystery, longing, distress overlap throughout this story. There is not one slow minute in Marks of the Mazza. Blake Blessing did an outstanding job of delivering within the first chapters, igniting character interest and the start of story as the character(s) will embark on more than they anticipated. I am not usually one for harem themed stories, but Blake Blessing did this in a way that it just a small piece of the story and not the main focal point. I felt this was a tastefully done story and am anxiously awaiting the next book of this series.

Ok so this is my first book by this author as well as my first reverse harem. I’ll admit I was a bit worried before I started but the synopsis had me interested enough to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised that it was nothing like I thought it was going to be. Now it might have something to do with this author and her style of writing. I enjoyed every page and I especially loved the strength and sassiness our lead character showed, and I fell in love with every one of “her” guys, one of them took me a bit, I had a feeling there was a story to tell there and I was right and he grew on me quickly.

I can not wait for the next in this series, it didn’t end on a holy crap throw your kindle and call the author names kind of cliffhanger, but it did end leaving me with a lot of questions and wanting a lot more.

If you have never read a book in this genre I highly recommend giving this one a try. I loved it and the smooth writing style made it a very easy read.

Marks of the Mazza is the first book in the Mazza Series, and incredible debut by Blake Blessing. It is a brilliant fantasy with a paranormal/reverse harem/polyamorous romance. There is also lots of action, adventure, danger, drama, suspense, and mystery. Here’s where I will come clean and admit that I usually avoid harem/reverse harem books as they aren’t really ‘my-cup-of-tea. But having said that, this book is certainly an exception to that rule…. the story has really won me over. It was the beautiful cover and the promise of an epic story that really convinced me to read the book. What I found when I opened the book is an exceptionally well written story that had me engrossed within minutes- so to then find that it’s also the author’s debut novel, just blew me away.
The characters are not just fully realised individuals with their own personalities, but they are also incredibly interesting and endearing as well. I was very quickly and easily invested in them and the outcome of their story. There was a lot going on in the book, but Ms. Blessing choreographed everything into a smooth and captivating read.
Isolde Bardot’s world as she knows it turns upside down from the moment she stumbles into the wrong ’Uber’. She discovers a whole world she never knew existed and that she has an incredible part to play in that ‘world’. The responsibility is somewhat daunting, as is the thought that she now has a Lusty Legion of men to bond with. It’s a confusing and dangerous time for her. For one, it doesn’t feel ‘normal’ to take more than one partner long-term. Then finding out magic is real and there are different realms too, has boggled her mind. But, there are plots afoot that have targeted Issy and her safety in these schemes isn’t guaranteed. So, she’s left questioning it all and feeling the weight of responsibility thrust upon her.
I LOVED this book- from the gorgeous cover to the wonderfully exciting story and the fantastic characters- all showcasing the dynamic writing and incredible imagination of Ms. Blessing.
OMG book two can’t come quick enough for my liking! I need it NOW!! I absolutely can’t wait!
Highly Recommended Reading!!!

Kudos! and thank you, Ms. Blessing!

Marks of the MazzaMarks of the Mazza by Blake Blessing

This is the first I’ve read by this author. MARKS OF THE MAZZA is book 1 in a new series. This book sets up future stories generally well. The characters are well described and we know everyone’s role in the story.

If you aren’t familiar with “Reverse Harem” it is when one woman is taken care of by multiple men. It is explained that while this isn’t a poly relationship, there won’t be any jealousy because the friends already love each other and want the best for each other.

There is a bit of suspense, humor, sexy times and a decent basis for a story. My ONLY complaint is that if the protagonist is so “woke” I would think she would have some resistance to her new station in life. It was just a little something that bugged me.

I will be reading future installments of this series.
