Last book in this great series, you will find romances, werewolves, and drama. Although the story can technically be considered stand alone, reading the previous books in the series will help you understand other characters as well as the present characters. This one focuses on Alexa and Miles. She is leaving her past behind her and settling into a new place and new career. She can finally breathe until her encounter with Miles. His charm easily entrances her as she also has the same effect on him. Unfortunately, she pushes him away before getting too close and this leaves Miles baffled. But now with their lives moving forward from where they interacted last, can something develop from where they currently stand? Characters from the previous book in series are brought back into the story but this book can be a stand alone but much better understanding and enjoyment reading previous books in series.

First book in this series was so good and I was very much looking forward to the next one! This one focuses on Rylie and Mason’s romance. Hard working and career driven Rylie is brought back to her hometown and is instantly drawn towards Mason, who is the alpha of the werewolf pack. These wolves have an intense scent of attraction when it comes to being drawn to their mate that helps balance out their aggressive nature. Being such a busy man, Mason dismisses looking for a mate but Rylie’s scent starts to quickly change things for him. As they start getting to know one another, Mason has his own dark secrets in which he contemplates revealing to Rylie or not. Seeing where this romance turns into makes this read worthwhile!

I’ve been recently drawn into second chance romances lately and this one did not disappoint. I’ve read several of Brooke May’s works so I definitely wanted to give this series a try. To top it off, these books focus on werewolves. It’s so good in depicting the deeply connected romance of Derek and Annabelle as teenagers and now as adults. How the mate connection brings these werewolves balance to their aggressive selves. Derek and Annabelle met in middle school and were inseparable. They felt as if they belonged to one another. When the situation got tough, Annabelle and her mother moved away and their relationship dissolved. Now many years later, they are brought back together in their same small town in Wyoming and the feelings are still there.

Miles is a shifter, part of Alexa running is due to her ex who was a shifter. Miles knows that Alexa is his mate but can he convince her that he will love and protect before he reveals his secret or will it be too late?
A bit different than other shifter stories, I liked the twist on it. The chemistry is great, had a little bit of everything i like in a paranormal read. Will be curious if there are more to come.

Alexa Hart is a young woman with her dream job, she is living with her best friend and her whole life is ahead of her and so she goes out to celebrate with her friend, dressed to kill in heels and a shimmery gold dress, she is ready to let loose. Miles Fischer is the brother of the Powder River Pack alpha, and he is the ladies’ man of the group, he is tall with dark hair and muscles upon muscles, but when he goes to work in the pack bar, the last thing he expected to find was his mate.
As soon as she sees the tall, dark and extremely handsome bouncer and the bar she found online, she is for once, speechless, especially when he turns a smile which she cannot resist, not the offer of the first round of their drinks on him and they are some drinks. In fact, the drinks are so good that she cannot work out how to get home with her friend without annoying their mum, this is where her handsome bouncer comes to their rescue and offers her a lift home, which she accepts, as does her friend and the kiss she gets at the end is something else.
This is where Alexa, who normally doesn’t keep men around decides to give Miles a chance and soon realises that she is undeniably attracted to him and him to her, however, she has a hidden past which she is trying to move on from, but it comes back with a shock and leads her to push Miles as far away as she can. When she does this Miles is upset and desperate to win her back, as well as find out what happened to make his mate run away, which makes him angry, desperate and not fun to be around.
Will Alexa be able to open up and let someone into the walls she built around her heart and find something she desperately needs, or will she push away anyone who even tries to help, and will Miles be able to convince her that taking a chance is the best thing she can do before nature takes hold? This is another, darker addition to this series where secrets, emotions and nature run wild to create a whirlwind of twists and turns until everything is revealed.

Macy Cutler has had a difficult upbringing, she was always feeling as if she wasn’t good enough and her parents didn’t do much to change that, especially when her sister’s reckless nature means they have even higher expectations of her.
The night before his first deployment, Brandon decides to go to a local club with some of his fellow recruits and he knows it will be a long night, however, he doesn’t expect to meet his mate there, but when he does sparks fly. Macy has managed to escape for a night with her best friend and is out on the town, finding a local bar for a night of drinks and dancing, she is having a wonderful time, however, when a handsome young man starts to dance with her, she is overcome with a whole host of new feeling she cannot describe, and she decides to go with it.

Meanwhile, the Powder River pack Derek belongs to have gotten used to his surly self and it is nothing compared to when he was younger, despite the tragedies in his past, so instead, he has thrown himself into work and his day-to-day existence.
When she does arrive in Fetterman, Wyoming, she hopes that she won’t see the young man she left all those years ago, but she also secretly hopes that she will. Derek has become a grumpy and broken man, however, when he finds out that Annabelle has come back, he immediately wants to go to her, however, he is also scared of her reaction if he does. When they encounter each other for the first time, the feelings return full force for the both of them, but it is not all smooth sailing and although there is hope when they start to talk, love is something painful, as well as beautiful.

In the fourth book of the Powder River Pack Series, Brooke May takes the reader on a journey with Alexa and Miles. After reading the first three books, the reader has been given a glimpse into their journey, but this book really digs into the whole story. The backstory for Alexa with Grant and Teague, and then meeting Miles and her struggles to trust him, followed by some action-packed chapters to really seal the deal. This was another great read and I really enjoyed reading about these characters.

Another book that met my expectations. I loved learning more about Macy and Brandon and their very non traditional start and the journey of getting back together. Reading about Miranda made me laugh so hard and as a mom, I could just envision all the chaos that little girl was causing! I have enjoyed the connections to the previous books and all the overlapping of characters and storylines. Another successful book from Brooke May.

Another good read from Brooke May and the Powder River Pack Series. I enjoyed the storyline between Rylie and Mason. Loved the added twists and turns along the way, taking the reader on a fascinating journey of these two fated mates. I really loved the characters of Rylie, Mason and Archer, which made the book all the more enjoyable. If you like werewolf stories, this is another great one in the series. Ready to see which pair is up in book 3!

Its the story of Alexa Hart who is starting her life over by moving and starting a new career. Miles Fischer is known as a lady’s man but as soon as he meets Alexa he knows she’s is fated mate. Alexa likes Miles but as soon as she’s aware of the fact that he is a shifter she puts the brakes on and pushes him away. After her relationship she is not going thru that again. So, this is the first book from this author that I’ve read, and I know that its book 4 but from the synopsis I was hoping I wasn’t going to be to lost and I wasn’t. I believe that other characters stories from previous novels and future novels kind of overlap in this book but not to the point where I felt lost or unable to read this without the prior books being read first. So, that being said, no, it’s not a standalone BUT if you do read it out of order, you’ll be ok.
I love shifter romance books so this one was right up my alley, I of course enjoyed the mating bond clicking into place pretty much immediately between on two main characters I think that adds a interesting air to there interactions in the book from the get go. Its also very interesting how it’s kinda like they both know but don’t know they other knows, type of thing at first, makes for a fun time.
I feel like the relationship, banter interactions and scenes that played out throughout this book are really fun, the main characters have amazing chemistry, which makes it’s hot and sultry but it’s also playful and fun. I think the pack interactions are pretty much what you would picture from a bunch of male shifter, also didn’t mention that ONLY men are shifters in this book, wild right, as if there wasn’t already enough testosterone.
The author made this fun by starting off pretty quickly in the present but adding dangers from Alexa’s past throughout the book to bring everything to a head, I haven’t read a wolf shifter like this one before. Miles is so endearing to me, literal puppy love, he’s so ready and willing and accepting for everything that is Alexa I could not help but love him, and Alexa bless her heart, just wants a safe and normal future, so it’s kinda ironic that she meets miles while running from her past that’s stepped in abuse from the very thing miles is.
I’m trying so hard not to spoil this book, because I found it really interesting and didn’t see all the twists and turns coming but I do think that if I had the chance to go back and read the first three before this one I absolutely would just to be ever more immersed in this world and the packs.

A great first book in this werewolf series. This isn’t a genre I usually read, but I am glad that I did because it was very good. I enjoyed this story and became connected to Derek and Annabelle right away. Their story and what caused them to be driven apart at a young age despite being fated mates was heart wrenching, but made it all the more significant as the story continued. Spence is hilarious and probably my favorite character in the whole book. I really had a blast reading this one and can’t wait to dive right into the rest of the series. Well done Brooke May. This is my first of hers, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Good story! I struggled a bit with the timeline for a couple different situations. It seems this one runs alongside the same timeframe as the previous books. The ages and time from when she left did not seem long but the characters acted older/more mature. These situations were confusing for me since I have read the previous books. I do like the characters and the whole situation of Alexa. We have insight into her psyche so I could see it being tough on her. Miles and the pack are always a good time. They have wonderful camaraderie and are fun when they get together.

Resisting Nature by Brooke May is the fourth installment of the Powder River Pack series. This paranormal romance will send you on a thrilling ride. I am not much into werewolf style novels but this one piqued my interest. May’s writing style kept my attention. Her characters were interesting, despite the werewolf situation, relatable, and likable. Her story line flowed well and kept you wanting more. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys this type of novel. I will definitely seek out other novels written by May.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I enjoyed reading every minute of it. I liked that it wasn’t the typical meet-and-fall-instantly kind of book. Each character had to come to terms with their own demons within the relationship.

This was a cute story! The author has a good writing style and I was pulled into the story from the very start. The main characters were great. Alexa & Miles met at a bar & even though they wanted nothing to do with each other, fate had other plans. Their relationship was steamy & romantic and I enjoyed thier story alot. An enjoyable and engaging second chance romance with a paranormal twist, which kept me happily turning the pages. Werewolf, Derek Sumerland is a member of the ‘Powder River Pack’ and met his fated mate at an early age, but then tragedy struck. He now just about gets through each day, regretting the fact that he didn’t fight for her or go after her. Meanwhile, Annabelle Daniels left her past behind her but still has a broken heart. When her estranged father is dying Annabelle reluctantly returns to Fetterman, Wyoming. She had not planned on seeing Derek but when she does, she finds that instead of the young man she loved, he is now an angry man, although still handsome. As fated mates neither of them can deny their connection, but Annabelle now has a life elsewhere and one which she has worked hard to achieve. The pair must decide if they can have a second chance together. The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life making me feel immersed in the ‘Powder River Pack’s’ world. I loved the likeable and relatable characters, and I found the chemistry between Annabelle and Derek really came across in the narrative. I look forward to future books in this new series.

An enjoyable and exciting paranormal romance, featuring wolf shifters and fated mates, which had me hooked from start to finish. This is the fourth book featuring the werewolves of the ‘Powder River Pack’, but it can be read as a standalone story. Alexa Hart is starting over in a new town far away from the troubles of her past and has a promising new career to focus on. She’s not looking for a relationship but then she meets Miles and just can’t deny their instant connection. Although shifter Miles Fischer is known as a lady’s man, as soon as he meets Alexa, he knows she’s, his mate. However, finding out that Miles is a shifter is too much for Alexa after her last relationship and she pushes him away. Miles is prepared to fight for her and when the mysteries from her past are discovered he’s willing to fight that too. Once again, I was immersed in the world of the ‘Powder River Pack’ as the descriptive narrative brings both the setting and the characters vividly to life. The chemistry between Miles and Alexa sizzled off the page, and I love a fated mate romance!

Resisting Nature was my first read by Brooke May. While the story was cute the entire thing felt rushed! I really think the characters are good but I personally could have used some more character development. Overall it was a quick easy read

Alexa has had some trouble in her past, walking away was the hardest thing she had to do. When now she has got her life back together a good education and is a Lawyer her moving to Montana was the best thing she could have done, until she meets Miles the towns ladies man she is drawn to him but does not understand why. So when he drops a bombshell on her, the first instinct is to run as far away from him as possible she has already a toxic relationship and survived she does not want to go down that path again.
Miles is a careful, self proclaimed ladies man but when Alexa comes into town he believes there is a chemistry and draw to her like he has never felt before. With his heritage he has always been seeking his fated he believes he has found it in Alexa, but when he shifts after one night together Alexa runs and does not look back, can he find her and convince her they are meant to be together in the end.
This is not the first book I have read by this author and this will definitely not the last. I’m not a big shifter genre reader but with this book it had me gripped from the beginning. Understanding the back story regarding Alexa was helpful and what she went through was heart-breaking but did put into prospective her life and reasons for certain reasons.
Miles as a character was brilliant, well rounded and great alpha male role and his characters care and charm made him a great character to get behind to get the girl. As I said although Shifter books aren’t my normal go to the story was a full bodied story with the Shifter element to Miles as a added bonus.
With the twists and turns in this story it will have you reading well into the night and hope you read the rest in this wonderful authors back catalogue you will not be disappointed.

This book was very well written. My only complaint is how short it is. I wish there was more time to get to know the characters. The plot was easy to follow, but again just flew by. Overall, it was a great and easy read I just wanted more substance. It is also nice that it can be read as a stand alone.
I do have to say though, the epilogue hit me in the feels. Both Miles and Alexa obviously have their own communication issues that they need to work through together, but ultimately they found their way to each other and are growing in their relationship. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick, easy fantasy romance read!

This is my first story by Brooke May and I wish I would’ve read the first three before this one. That would’ve given me more of an idea of the storyline and Brooke’s writing style. This is a shifter story with werewolves. It was fun to follow as the story unfolds and tells us the relationship between Alexa and Miles. Miles knows he loves her but she is worried because of past trauma. I plan on going back and reading the first ones so I can learn more.

This was a good 5 star read. It has been awhile since I have read this genre and I was pulled right in. This was different from what I have read before regarding shifting, I like it when authors put their spin on things. Alexa and Miles were great characters. I love the tall dark and handsome alpha males. Alexa has a past that she has kept secret for years. When she learns what Miles is, memories of her past come rushing back to her. Then we get a scary twist when her ex shows up. Will Miles be able to save Alexa? Overall I really enjoyed this book, I was on the edge of my seat with all of the thrilling things happening. The author does a great job with her writing, I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.

I’ve read all the books in this series but it took me a minute when I started to read Resisting Nature to have it all become clear, since it’s been a while. I love all these books. I also think it might be time to go back and start over again! One thing I like that the author does is that all the books in this series overlap. The story being told for each pack member overlaps with the next one. I find that awesome in a series vs it being one story ends and the next begins. Alexa has been through the ringer. And now that we get to delve into her story we finally find out why. Coming out of a previous abusive relationship to a werewolf no less makes her skeptical about moving forward. When she meets Miles she’s drawn to him, but doesn’t feel she can trust him. Starting them off with a lot of push and pull. Miles knows it the minute he lays eyes on her, “mate.” But how can he court Alexa and discuss his true nature without her turning her back on him. Especially when she keeps pushing him away. Well one unexpected night changed that and caused her to run. Unfortunately he didn’t know the real reason why, just assume it was because of his wolf. However once danger nears he vows to never let anyone hurt her. Will Alexa ever open up to Miles? Can Miles keep her safe? This series has a lot of ups and downs. But that’s what keeps the reader on their toes. This story specifically makes you feel for Miles. But the underlying danger I think was the most significant of all the books in this series. You (as the reader) know but at the same time you don’t know what’s coming. Which is why I really like this author. Do you need to read the other books? Not really Should you? Absolutely! So what are you waiting for?!?

I’ve read books by Brooke May in the past but never from this series. While Resisting Nature is not the first book in the series, I didn’t feel lost following along on Alexa and Miles’ storyline. I really liked both main characters and the fact that the story was written in multiple perspectives. The writing style was really intriguing and genuinely grabbed my attention within the first couple chapters and held it throughout. This was not a light and fluffy read but the plot was well thought out and followed through. I am usually a vampire/witch fan but this shifter/ werewolf theme was fantastic. I would definitely read more of this paranormal romance series in the future.

This is the third book in the Powder River series and tells us Macy and Brandon’s story. I adored meeting Miranda’s father and reading about the story of how her parents met, fell in love, and then were separated. We get to see what a day in Macy’s life is like outside of working the bar and keeping Derek in line with his grumpy self, well until Annabelle comes back into his life in book one of the series. I love how the author takes us back in time to the beginning of each of the stories of the characters, but then brings us to the present time. Each of the books overlaps in their storylines, but each time we get to see it from our main character’s point of view. I have been loving reading through each of these character’s stories, but I especially loved reading about what a strong female character Macy is, and how Miranda got all of her energy and mischievousness from her father. This series is a must-read if you love werewolves and mythical stories with a new twist. @Brandy Rymer 01/2024

This is the second book in the Powder River series and introduces us to Mason and Riley’s story. Mason is the alpha of the pack, and meets his mate, Riley, at the very beginning of the story. This happens right after his brother Miles meets his mate, her best friend, Alexa, as they both walk into the bar together. We also get to meet Mason’s son, Archer, who he had with a woman who was not his mate but was a drug abuser. Archer’s mom signed away all of her rights as soon as she was done having him, thank goodness because Mason came and picked up his son immediately and took charge of being a single dad. Archer was Mason’s everything, he had no room for women in his life until he met his mate, who he hopes will love Archer just as much as he does. Riley is the perfect woman for Mason, but she doesn’t know anything about the existence of werewolves, will she be able to accept him for who and what he is? I was so excited to understand what Riley’s big brother’s secret was, it was a great way to introduce our next set of characters for the next book in the series as well. @Brandy Rymer 01/2024
