Yearning Young by Deidre Huesmann is book 2 in the Burning Britely series. This book is a rollercoaster of raw emotions. The feelings in this book will take you through all the feels. The characters are complex and well developed. The story makes you want to be young and in love trying to figure out this world again. I enjoyed this book even more than the first, and these are some of my favorite characters I’ve read recently. I give this book a solid 5 stars and cant wait to see what this author does next. Again amazing read! Review by @amandarae6884

Yearning Young (Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann was sweet, emotional read, that punches you right in the feels.
The second book in the Burning Britely series, we are once again taken on a raw emotional ride of two teens just trying to figure out this stupid thing called love. But being as they are a gay couple, it makes it all the more complicated and for one party, confusing.
Picking up almost where the last book left off, we are greeted by Braeden’s POV, and it was a nice change up. He was a character I wanted to know more about, and I got what I wanted and more. This book was just as sweet as the first, but it held more raw emotions, more realistic struggles, and of course Braeden’s struggle with his sexuality. God, I was a mess while reading this, and I really wanted to smack him. My heart is a fluffy mess, and I really hope there is another book. These two are by far my favorite couple of the year. I need to know more, and I want to know it they make it..
Overall this book is a must read, and I can’t praise it enough. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will be an emotional mess like me once you are done.

Yearning Young is the second book in the Burning Britely series by Deidre Huesmann. This series should be read in order because it is a continuation from the first book. I loved how the characters grew from the first book. I was hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t put it down until the last. This book has all the feels my emotions were on a roller coaster ride. This book was told in Braeden’s point of view, and we learn more about his feelings. This YA book touch on many issues and I would highly recommend it to the young and young at heart.

Yearning Young is the second book in the Burning Britely series and I became completely obsessed with it! Its such a beautiful coming of age story that gives you all the feels and then some!
This book is written in Braeden’s POV. He has so much going on in his life and it’s completely weighing him down. Jeff is his anchor. Their connection strengthens throughout the book but the challenges that Braeden faces make him question a lot of things. His home life is rough to say the least and Jeff’s friends questions his feelings towards Jeff. You can’t help but fall head over heals for Braeden and find yourself rooting for him and the issues he faces.
This is one of the most beautiful and poignant series I have read in a long time. This should definitely be on everyone’s must read list!

Yearning Young is the second book in the Burning Britely series. You really need to read the first book in order to understand the history of the characters. Yearning Young wraps things up so the story could end here, but I seriously hope there is another one because there could definitely be more.
OMG! I know in my review of the first book I said I wanted to know what happens in their future, but I was not expecting this book. When I read the synopsis, part of me wanted to walk away from reading this story because there were so many ways it could have gone and I wanted to maintain my illusion from the ending of the first book. (If there is another book, I’m just going to get it and not even read the synopsis, lol). But I had to satisfy my curiosity so I spent my day thoroughly lost in the world of Jeff and Braeden. I laughed. I cried. Basically, I had all the feels in a very short period of time. This book tore my heart to pieces and then put it back together. So, so good!!!!

Yearning Young is book two in the Burning Britely series by Deidre Huesmann. Braeden and Jeff’s story continues in this easy to read tale.
Braeden has a lot going on and struggles to work it all out and get a handle on his feelings. He fell for Jeff quickly and very unexpectedly, which has him reeling. His home life is difficult, so all of that together is a huge weight for a young guy to carry on his own. I really loved how the author described his journey, from falling for Jeff, to working out what his next move would be. The emotions were first love at its most basic and real. I really engaged with these characters, and fell for them even more than I did in the first story. An impressive story that was witty, funny and soul touching. 5 stars

I really enjoyed Yearning Young, the second book of the Burning Britely series from Deidre Huesmann. I would recommend that you read the first book before you jump into this one, just to kind of have and idea where things are and who the characters are. This continues with the coming of age theme for Jeff and Braeden, only told from Braeden’s point of view this time. I really enjoyed that twist and seeing things from his angle. This does touch on several emotional and touchy topics that are often overlooked or not discussed enough among teens or young adults like they should be and like I mentioned in my review of the first book this would be a great tool to introduce the topic among classes or children of your own etc. I love how Huesmann keeps things realistic and raw without drowning out the the topics at hand, and yet she keeps the storyline at the forefront to keep the reader fully engrossed. I can’t wait to see what is to come next! Thanks for the emotional and thought provoking read Ms. Huesmann!

Yearning Young (Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann 4 stars
First I would highly recommend reading this series in order as this picks up after book 1 ends. In book 1, we follow Jeff, and now we get to follow Braeden. He intrigued me in the first book so getting to to see more was welcomed. While I can’t give too many details as this is best read as the story progresses, I just have to say how much this book made me feel. While I know this is fiction, it just brings to light that these things do happen in everyday life and some may not ever show they have a life like this behind closed doors.

Yearning Young by Deidre Huesmann is a beautifully written young adult story about life and what it means to be different. This is the second book in the Burning Britely series. The emotions I had reading this story were very real and my heart hurt for Braeden. The story is from Braeden’s point of view and he is dealing with all the hormones of being a teenager and being “different” from others. One thing I love about Braeden is no matter what life throws at him, he always sees the good in the moment. This story is about friendship, loyalty, strength, weakness, and pain. It is one that I recommend all teenagers read that maybe one day they will understand the pain and suffering of other people’s actions.

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2) by Deidre Huesmann is a Young Adult coming of age story. It is a quick and easy read that is a follow on from the first book where we saw two young men grow into a friendship. Now in this story we see the two of them in a relationship. This story as with the first is one of love and self discovery, friendship and drama. It is one of coming to terms with who you are, what you are and how others will see you. We also get a look into family dynamics that are brutal and Braedens need for acceptance. If you love YA stories then you should take time to read this one.

What an amazing book. There is so much I could go on and on about this story but I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’m going to do a top 5 list…
TOP FIVE THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THIS BOOK
1. Characters are so well developed in the scope and emotion that they are written in. It is like reading from a journal of someone currently experiencing this life.
2. Different POV than the first book. It was cool to hear another voice tell part of the story.
3. Friendships
4. Emotions- I cried and chuckled and cheered.
5. Quick and easy read that is complex and doesn’t short change the characters.
I absolutely recommend this story and this series.

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2) By Deidre Huesmann Rated 5 stars!!
I loved this book! I was so happy when I spotted it and couldn’t wait to get to it on my TBR. We meet up with the boys after “the incident” from the last book. This is Braeden’s story to tell and boy Oh boy it will keep you glued to this book. Prepare for late night reading. Braeden is somewhat questioning his path and trying to figure out answers and keep his home life afloat. How he balances everything is beyond me. Practice I guess. Jeff! Jeff! You impressed me immensely! I don’t want to say much but you are amazing! I was impressed with you in the last book and you just keep raising the bar! I had many emotions while reading this. I snickered, had a few tears, was worried and impressed. These two boys and (Maya) hold a special place in my heart. Being a teenager is hard enough…..
This is the second in the series and I was pleased to enjoy reading the continuing story of Jeff and Braeden. Life is not going to be easy but their strength of character is impressive. I wonder what will happen after the summer is over?
This story flows easily. I started this and struggled to put it down. I was thinking about these two even at work today. Trying to help them out with ideas. The characters are flawless and enjoyable to read about. Another stellar story by Deidre Huesmann.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This book was so adorable! The story was great and so heartwarming, and the characters were fantastic. I was fearful because of the length of the book that there wouldn’t be much of a story, but I was wrong, and the story flowed beautifully.
Jeff sounds like he could be such a sweet guy if he didn’t treat people the way he does. The way he handles certain situations could be dealt with a little better, but I think it is part of the charm that makes him who he is. The friendship he builds with Braeden is tricky. At first it is funny the way Jeff pushes him away and tries to deter him from getting close to him. Braeden doesn’t take anything Jeff says to heart and moves forward with trying to form a friendship with him even though they run in different circles. When a secret gets out of school it turns everything upside down and brings some truths and feelings out that were meant to stay hidden. I think it was the best thing that could have happened. I do feel sorry for Braeden with the way he lives, feeling like he has to protect his sister and his younger brother because his mother is kind of crazy.
Overall a fantastic book and well worth the read. The story is sweet and relatable. Would absolutely recommend this book.
Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann was more than I expected it to be. When you are reading young adult it’s usually pretty cookie cutter but this book was anything but and for that I was so thankful.
Jeff Young is too smart and I don’t know if it’s because of his intelligence but he doesn’t do well with interacting with people. He even has a hard time with his best friend and parents. That starts to change after he starts to develop a friendship and crush on the school track star Braeden.
Braeden is a great guy, very protective of his family especially his siblings. He is looking for friendship with Jeff but there ends up being so many levels of that friendship.
I have the next book in this series ready to go in my kindle. Can’t wait to get started to see what happens next.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a quirky and cleverly written coming out story. The leading man is Jeff. Jeff is smart, small and sarcastic. His intelligence wont allow him to suffer fools. He has zero patience and comes off as rude and unfriendly. He doesn’t trust easily and prefers his own company than that of others. He falls for Braeden and the road to their HEA is a rocky one.
Burning Britely was a story that I absorbed in one sitting. Jeff was an extremely complex character, but underneath it all, he was just like the next person. Acceptance was important, but his tough outer shell would never allow him to admit that. I loved everything that was Jeff and Braeden. The blossoming love story was beautiful, and at times heartbreaking. A little of everything thrown in to make for a riveting read. I cannot wait to read more. 5 stars.
Yearning Young is the 2nd book in the amazing, Young Adult, coming-of-age, Burning Britely series by Deidre Huesmann. I had really enjoyed the 1st book, but this second book was, in my opinion, much better than the first book. In book 1 we are given the groundwork in the growing friendship between Jeff and Braeden. Now in book 2 (which is told from Braeden’s POV) Jeff and Braeden are in a relationship. From the outside, Braeden has an ideal life…rich family, top track performer, good looks. We are given an insight in book 1 that Braeden’s life isn’t all rosy but in this book we get to see the harsh, heart-breaking reality that is Braeden’s home life. Add this to Braeden’s worries about his sexuality, Braeden is a very mixed up young man with so much going on. This book has so much emotion and angst, I will have you gripped from the very beginning. Like most teenage boys Braeden can be a bit of a pain at times, but you can’t help but be drawn to him and be rooting for him as he goes through so much adversity. If you like reading the YA genre then this is a must read, however, make sure you read the first book Burning Britely before this one to get the full impact of this fabulous story.

Burning Britely (Burning Britely #1) by Deidre Huesmann was a sweet, heart melty read, that had me hooked from start to finish.
My first read by this author, and though I have read LGBTQ books in the past, it’s still something that is a tab bit out of my normal comfort zone. I’m glad I gave this book a chance because the love story is sweet, emotional, heart melty, and heart breaking. Love is love, and this book puts it on display for all to see.
The only thing that rubbed me a bit the wrong way, was the lack of detail and scene development and descriptions. Now I do get that this book is at the 150 mark, so it is fairly short, and is borderline a novella. (Not dissing novellas, I love them, and some of my fav reads are them). I think to keep the word count down, and the characters the main focus, the world building and scene development suffered. There were times I didn’t quite get a scene, because it was told to me rather than shown, and that made some of the more important scenes lacking and at times confusing. I think if a little more time was spent on growing those key scenes, and pivatable moments, would have greatly help the overall story and readability.
As for the characters and their development. No complaints on that front, and even though our MC’s Jeff, comes across as a tool, I didn’t find him unlikeable as he was intended. As someone who is blunt, and struggles a little bit with emotions, I connected with him and got him a little then some others might. I thought he was a wonderful character, and he kinda stole the show for me. Sure yeah, the love interest was hot, and all that jazz, but Jeff, I found had the most overall growth and character development.
Overall this book is a super high recommendation from me, and it gets my stamp of approval. It’s current, relevant, and as I have said, will melt and steal your heart before you know what’s going on.
Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a coming of age Male/Male young adult LGBT romance. A shorter read, but does not take away the impact of the book or subject of the book. I think Huesmann has written a book that adults, teens, and tweens could learn a lot from. From the two main characters questioning their place in this world to bringing to life what many are facing in high school as they grow and find just who they are becoming. I highly recommend this book and give it a BRIGHT FIVE STAR rating. Jeff is your local high school outcast who is selected to be the tutor to Braeden, the local popular and town athletic star. What both don’t see in the beginning is that through this tutoring a friendship between them develops. As they both grow closer, Jeff sees that there is more beneath of the surface of what Braeden shows everyone. Even worse, Jeff starts to fall for the VERY STRAIGHT star of the town and school. This raw and real book is part one in a two book series and I for one cannot wait to dive into the next one!
Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a wonderfully written book that once I started reading I couldn’t put down. There is a little bit of everything in this book from self discovery to self acceptance to feeling like you are on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Jeff and Braeden are the two main characters. Braeden is popular and in track, where Jeff is not really a people person and sticks to himself. He doesn’t really like crowds and his lack of interactions with others shows. There is a situation where Jeff finds himself helping Braeden. Jeff finds himself drawn to Braeden. He starts to feel like he is falling for Braeden. What happens next with these two? Find out what happens next. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

This story is about a shy quiet boy and his struggles with his growing feelings for a popular guy. The story is well written and shows the struggle and worry that comes from not only admitting to your family your preferences but also from your peers finding out and the things that evolve from that.
Was a lovely story which proves love can conquer anything.
Burning Britely is the first part in a wonderful young adult coming-of-age series by Deidre Huesmann. It’s different from most other YA coming-of-age stories in that the main character Jeff Young is bisexual and the object of his desires in this book is male. I absolutely adored Jeff. He’s the exact opposite of most leading males in a book. He’s short, skinny, grumpy and very nerdy. He’s very much a loner, with only Maya as a friend, and has been the subject of much bullying in his past. The object of Jeff’s desires is Braeden Britely, a character who could not be any different from Jeff. Braeden is the tall, muscular, sporty star of the school track team…and very straight. The growing friendship between Jeff and Braeden is a fantastic read. Jeff’s struggle with his feelings towards Braeden is a compelling read. This book has so much angst, heartbreak and emotion, you won’t want to put it down. It’s a fantastic read and I can’t wait to read the 2nd book Yearning Young.

Yearning Young Burning Britely Book 2 Deidre Huesmann ☆☆☆☆☆ This is a full length novel. Written for the young adults group of teens.
Braedyn is making his way through school, youth and his own sexuality. This is his story and how he fits in his broken family. Mom is addicted to pills. Dad is extremely enabling. Along with helping his siblings find themselves. His life has gone in so many different directions and now let’s add Jeff.
Deidre Huesmann has done it again in book 2. Her characters are amazing and fit this story so well. I love that she asks and answers so many questions in her story. I think this is a beautifully written story. So good I will recommend it to all of my friends and their young adults. Please take the time to read her series. I just love it. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Yearning Young (Burning Britely #2) by Deidre Huesmann
5 out of 5 stars
Yearning Young is the second book in the Burning Britley series written by Deidre Huesmann and it’s the second book that I have read by this author. The characters were well written and the storyline was different with self-discovery and self-acceptance we also have strong friendships and families and also dysfunctional, chaotic families and friends. We met Jeff and Braeden in book two and this story is told from Braeden’s POV. Braeden is a good guy who is confused and trying to figure out who he is.
Braeden’s never had to question anything before. He’s always been popular, always had everything handed to him, and always been straight. Then he met Jeffrey Young. Quiet, studious, analytical a guy. Now he’s questioning everything. Like if he can handle his pill-abusing mother and ruthlessly enabling father much longer. If he’s protecting his siblings out of selfless motivations. If he belongs with Jeff, now his boyfriend. Jeff’s less-than-straight friends are skeptical of his sexuality as well, which isn’t assuaging any of Braeden’s fears. As their connection deepens quickly Braeden is asking himself if he is supposed to be with a guy. This is a great read… By Tracy @tracyn
Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann was a short teen love story. This story was refreshing, and light hearted for the most part. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I love that the story line is not a typical love story, and they go outside the box. This is the first book by this author and I enjoyed it, I will definitely give another book by this author a read. Overall, I give it 4 stars.
Burning Britely is a cute coming of age story. Deidre Huesmann has taken a sensitive subject matter into a beautiful story. Sometimes it is awkward enough to try to get through high school without being harass for being yourself. This is a story of a nerd who falls in love with the jock, the only difference is that it is a straight jock and a homosexual nerd. I love this story because it shows acceptance and not hate. It is hard enough when you are being labeled but it can be tortured and have lasting affects the rest of your life. As an adult reading the YA book, I would recommend that every child read a story of acceptance. I applauded Deidre Huesmann for writing this beautiful book.

This is the second book in this series, the best yet! This is a young adult story about a boy who is a little confused on who he is and trying to figure that out. He struggles with life problems that normal young adults struggle with at this age. Braedyn is a great character and I enjoyed watching him grow throughout the story. I did feel compassion for him as he feels that he has so much on his plate. I didn’t regret picking up this book and you won’t either. A must read!

Braeden’s never had to question anything before. He’s always been popular, always had everything handed to him, and always been straight.
Then he met Jeffrey Young. Quiet, studious, analytical … a guy.
Falling for Jeff ultimately resulted in Braeden’s expulsion.
As his connection to Jeff deepens quicker than expected, Braeden has to face the question he’s been avoiding for weeks: what is he supposed to do with a guy?
When she isn’t writing, Deidre works full-time in the local shipyard, decked out in safety gear and getting her hands dirty. She lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying the changes in seasons year-round. When she isn’t working either job, she’s catching up on the stack of books on her dresser, kicking it with her children, or playing RPG video games.

With Jeff Young’s fantastic grades, he should be a great tutor. But he’s terrible with human interaction. “You’re an asshole,” is not a unique phrase to him. Jeff’s all right with that. His past proves most people are assholes.
Even with his reputation, he takes it too far when he uses a textbook to save the track star, Braeden, from a goose attack. Braeden is everything Jeff is not. Tall. Charming. Has 20/20 vision. And would never, ever wipe his mouth after a girl kisses him.
Braeden insists on getting to know Jeff. Jeff vacillates between wanting to know him and wanting to punch him in the mouth. Then he discovers the darkness rippling beneath Braeden’s deceptively easy-going persona. As Braeden confides his secrets, Jeff does the one thing that’s socially suicidal:
He falls in love with the very popular, very straight Braeden Britely.

You know how some books are written purely for the enjoyment and others seem a little deeper. That is this book! There is the surface but if you look deeper there is a whole other level to this. The way this was written this could be about your brother, cousin or best friend. That makes it more relatable to the reader. You get a look Inside the life of a boy who is abrasive, cranky and prefers to be alone. He is protecting himself and trying to survive high school and figure out he fits in. I really empathized with boy. I was right there with him through all his good and bad times.
Even though it’s a shorts book it still packs a punch. One thing i really like about Jeff is how he thinks about things. Like basketball for example or lunch at school…..or a kiss. This is a story I won’t forget. In fact I will reread it when I need to lighten up a little.
Thank You Deidre Huesmann for this outstanding book!

This is a first book for me by this author, and I really enjoyed it. I only had one small want from this book after I finished, and that was I wanted to hear some of Braeden’s side of things. Otherwise this was a well done story, that kept me flipping pages until the end. Jeff is a young man in high school who has one real friend and he’d like to keep it that way. He’s a smart student and a very particular way of how he wants things to go. I loved the way we meet Braeden, and how Jeff starts to realize things he didn’t before but also come to terms at least internally of others. And if everyone in his situation, had parents like his, what a godsend that would be. Great quick read of a young man finding his path in life.
