Grave Digger Academy 3 is the continuation of Makayla’s story as she returns to school for her third year. After the drama of the previous year, she is expecting to be overwhelmed with new students however the reality is very different with some familiar faces not returning. Makayla has also got to face the new rules imposed on her that don’t allow her helpers to aid in her quest for answers. I think this is a really fun series, I just wish the books were longer! Looking forward to reading book 4 to see what happens next.

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. This is the third book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series as well. Makayla is back in another school year with a new suspenseful fantasy. A story where there are more than just dead bodies being dug up but also where no secrets are safe. These students are about to find out why skeletons are better off in a closet. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their story. Makayla is a great character that has been my favorite of this series. She is strong, engaging and adds so much to the story. The things she finds herself in keep me turning pages fast. I enjoyed the growth of this story which made it easy and entertaining to read. A fast paced, hard to put down story. A shorter story that packs non-stop fantasy. This is one you don’t want to miss or this series for sure. I enjoyed this book and I think you will as well. I highly recommend this book.

Grave Digger Academy III is a wonderful YA paranormal fantasy. Each book is delightful and gets better than the last. Make sure to read them in order so you get the back story and understanding of the characters.
I love that the series is unique and original and full of fun. This intriguing story flows well and is well written. It is an exciting tale and is full of delightful and quirky characters that feel real.
Grave Digger Academy is the place everyone wants to be at now, but it is a place where nothing is as it seems, and people are disappearing. With Witches, death, graves, deadly foes, deadly secrets, deadly games the twisted turns the intensity is turned up and mayhem and madness ensues. Expect the unexpected.
Makayla is back at the Grave Digger Academy and finds there is something amiss and at the Academy. Who is this new foe? There is something darker at the Academy this time. It already has lots of secrets and things hidden within the grounds and in the darkness. Things that definitely go bump in the night.
I have said it before but will say it again there are still so many layers to be explored and revealed due to the unique nature of this world C.A has created.
Follow along as Makayla and friends delve into the current mystery. You won’t be disappointed.

Makayla is a witch and for the last two years has attended the Grave Digger Academy and no, it isn’t somewhere you learn how to bury a dead body, that’s the job of a gravedigger, a Grave Digger, stops them from coming back out. Makayla hasn’t had it easy these last two years and seems to always be the centre of trouble, however, when she goes back to the Academy for her third year, it isn’t as she remembers it, its empty!
That along with an ominous feeling brewing in her gut and nobody to talk to means that Makayla is destined to have a lonely year, but when she starts the actual term, the loneliness doesn’t last for long, but she realises just how much she relied on others for help, especially when none is forthcoming.
Will Makayla find out any explanations for why the Academy is so empty and why nobody wants to even associate themselves with her, or will the trouble she is always trying to avoid find her again? This is yet another fantastic glimpse into a world where skeletons aren’t just in the closet, where secrets abound, danger lies around every corner and mythical entities are revealing themselves.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.
Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.
To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.
People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.
I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.
I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Truly was nine when she started in Knollville. She had a life that led to Psychiatric Therapy. She does many trials and methods that will help her remember her past. The real question is should she really want to remember her past? Jeff is on a detective mission to see what these crimes are doing that point as a past event. This thriller leaves you on the edge of your seat which you know are the good thriller books.

This was an amazing read to get lost in! I couldn’t read it fast enough and was constantly surprised by what would happen next. The way this author creates Truly’s world is nothing short of incredible. I’m not often taken by surprise by books as they can be fairly predictable, but this one delivered. The blend of paranormal and crime was so superb I am searching out others that fit this bill as best as possible! The chapters themselves are a bit shorter than most books I read, but they flow so well together that I barely noticed. I highly recommend picking this up and answering this question yourself…is Truly really unfortunate?

This was my first read by this author and it was an absolutely great experience. I cannot wait to continue on to the next book in the series. I did not want to put down this read and flew through it in a single setting. I was fully gripped into the story and needed to know what was next.
This is a paranormal/fantasy book that follows the main character Truly who can’t remember her childhood. Working multiple jobs to get by as an adult. She also visits a psychiatrist who treats her with hypnosis. The past she cannot remember brings her into an investigation when detectives suspect some accidents were not simple accidents. One of these detectives is Jeff. Another of the characters we follow in the story.
I cannot share more in fear of giving away too much. This book is amazing and has twists you will not see coming. Pick up the book to find out if Jeff is on the right track with these accidents and just how unfortunate Truly is or is not.

Another truly amazing book from C. A. King! You think you know, and then here comes the twist. Truly had a bad childhood and as an adult, things don’t seem to be better for her, despite her efforts. She’s working three jobs to pay her rent and her psychiatrist. I really enjoyed this book and recommended you give it a try.

Wow what can i say about this book. I have loved all the author’s work so far and this one is right up there as my favourite. It is book 1 in a new series called Welcome To Knollville and I really can’t wait to read more.
This is a crime story with a very unique paranormal twist. The author keeps you guessing all the way along and even at the end I am not sure if things happened as we were told or if it was all the imagings of a woman who suffered trauma and was mentally unstable.
I really don’t want to say more and risk giving the story away. All I will say is this is a story that will grip you and even when you finish it will still have a tight grip on you. It is an amazing read and I’m so excited for more in this series.

This is the first book in the Welcome to Knollville series. I was really drawn to the not remembering anything aspect of this story. The book is on the shorter side but is certainly not lacking. There were great characters, brilliant world-building and an enjoyable writing style used.
I love Truly the most of all the fabulous characters, she’s so lovely and works hard to provide for herself. Despite amnesia she powers through, and you can’t help but root for her.
Other characters are just as memorable, easy to love and relatable to people you may encounter in everyday life.
I loved it and can’t wait to get started on the next book!

Truly Unfortunate is Book One in the Welcome to Knollville Series. It is a superbly written supernatural crime book with twists and turns that will hook you and keep you reading to the end. The story centers around Truly who is seeing a doctor in the hopes of regaining her childhood memories. Her doctor feels that something terrible must have happened to Truly as a child that she has repressed for all these years. Truly’s life at present is not going well and she is struggling to make ends meet even while working three jobs. Her landlord has just increased her rent, will not do necessary repairs in her apartment, and is trying to blackmail her into sleeping with him to help pay her rent. Then, of course, she is having visions that she is unsure whether are suppressed memories coming back to her or if she is hallucinating. Each vision has her blacking out for small amounts of time and leaves her feeling like she was in a fog. To make matters worse people around her seem to be dying at an alarming rate and she was the last one to have had contact with each of the victims.
Jeff is the other character that the story focuses heavily around. He is a member of the Knoll police who is determined to solve the mysterious deaths in Knollville. He does not believe that these deaths were accidents and suspects that these are all linked. Jeff suspects that they might even be linked to when he was a child and his nine-year-old classmate died in an accident. He always felt her death was suspicious and that is what compelled him to join the police force. Jeff strongly feels that the other girl who was present during the accident of his classmate was somehow involved but he has never been able to prove it. Not only was this young girl present when the classmate, a notorious bully, died but the young girl’s stepfather and mother also died when she was young. Now this young girl, Truly, just happens to be the last person to have seen each of the victims in a recent string of mysterious deaths. Jeff is determined to prove that Truly is involved in all the deaths and that they were not accidents but were instead murders.
This book was entertaining and had me captivated from the first few pages. The author’s writing style is unique, brilliant, and masterful. The storyline was a bit dark and twisted at times as Truly’s story took center stage. The characters were engaging, lovable, and relatable. As I was introduced to Truly, I immediately felt sympathy for her because of her horrific childhood. It was obvious that she had been horribly abused and therefore her mind suppressed the memories for her to cope. Yet, at the same time, I could not help wondering if she was involved somehow in all the deaths, even those going back to her childhood. Was that the real reason behind her suppressing the memories of her childhood for so long? I also wondered about the current visions that left Truly feeling as though she had lost chunks of time. How long were these lapses and what else was going on at the time? These mysterious little tidbits kept me reading to learn more. I was intrigued by the mysterious undertones, the links between past and present, and whether Truly was involved, or if it was coincidental. The twists and turns the book took had me on the edge of my seat, well done! I cannot wait for the next book in this superbly written series. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!

Truly, our main character is a 9 year old girl at the beginning of the book. Her mother works 3 jobs and she is left with her mom’s boyfriend. Truly is traumatized and does not remember her childhood. She has been going to a doctor for help for years with no success.
Truly as an adult is struggling. As the book progresses you will find out how and why. Everywhere she turns, life is kicking her and she really has nowhere to turn. Deaths begin to happen and the connection comes back to Truly, although, she wasn’t at any of the deaths. Is there a way Truly can be free of all these unfortunate occurrences.

Mysterious and dark paranormal
This was wonderfully put together dark supernatural story. I love my Grimm fairytales and this was a brilliant twisted version. Truly is an easily relatable character and soon has the reader vested in her story. The writing and imagery draw you in as the thrills and spills keep coming. This had me thinking long after I had finished the last page. Highly recommend

Exceptionally good. the transitions between POV of Truly and Jeff caught me off guard but once I understood it flowed nicely.
The world building was moderately paced with the perfect unraveling.
If you love mystery, deities, supernatural, and strong female leads this is the book for you. Truly seems to be the unwanted child a black sheep. But she is far from that. Her memories were suppressed and only brought forth thanks to a cunningly deceptive therapist. Will truly unlock the secrets of her past? What does that mean for her future ?

“Accidents”. While this is not the first book, I have read by the amazing C.A. King it is the first book of this kind, previously read Grave Digger Academy books one and two. The mystery that seeps off the pages fills you up until you can’t take it, reading as quickly as you can to discover the next twist and how it will all end. Told mostly from the perspectives of Truly and Jeff the mystery that is fortune telling is a dangerous one to follow, especially in Knollville.
Truly is currently twenty-four years old and working three jobs to afford the psychiatrist that is trying to help her recover her memories from age nine. Jeff also twenty-four years old is a detective in Knollville, and according to his partner Miranda they get all the weird calls because of his crazy ideas. Only one day the crazy call ends up triggering a memory, which gets stranger when it happens a second time in as many days. Two men on their phones walk into oncoming traffic and killed, both after getting a “fortune” that told of their demise. Jeff thinking back to when he was nine years old remembers an identical “accident” of the class bully Priscilla. Her favorite target was Truly. Knowing she is involved he gets his partner on his side and the captain agrees to get them a meeting with the detective from fifteen years ago that covered Priscillas case and the case of Truly’s mother and her boyfriends’ death. All three separate events but all three tied to Truly when she was only nine years old. Docter Stevenson (her psychiatrist) and Doctor Sven (hypnosis specialist) begin a hypnosis study on Truly for a book. The memories they are trying to uncover are from the time frame of the accidents when she was a little girl. Damionion, a magician that Truly states meeting when she was nine told her that he would handle all her troubles all she had to do was read their fortune. Several years later and she is hearing and seeing him again.
Is Truly really handing out her enemies’ demises or is she another victim of Damionion? Can Jeff solve the “murders” with his job intact? Who is Damionion and is he a real person? One of my favorite things about this author is their attention to detail even down to the more unappealing things such as the yellow sweat stains on Bernard’s shirt. She makes sure you get an entire picture, one that you can nearly smell sometimes. I can’t wait to the next book in the series, Serendipity’s Debt and see where Jeff’s career goes next when his gut tells him something is wrong in Knollville.

In the present day, Truly has no memories of her childhood. She starts undergoing treatment to try to recover those memories all while life around her keeps getting worse and worse. She’s working 3 jobs and she still is having trouble making ends meet. When her psychiatrist suggests working with another doctor who specializes in hypnosis and zero cost, she jumps on it. Weird visions start happening to her and Truly isn’t sure if she is going crazy or if they are memories.
Meanwhile people who have been making Trulys life harder are victims of unfortunate accidents. Jeff, the detective for the recent victims, thinks there is more to it than accidents but he can’t figure out how. He witnessed a young girl in his class die from a similar ‘accident’ and he thinks that it’s the same killer from back then. The only question is how are these accidents going to be proved otherwise?
I honestly love this author. Their writing style is so unique and this is another masterpiece. I was hooked as soon as I started reading it. The premise was dark and mysterious but also thrilling. You can’t help but feel sorry for Truly since nothing seems to go her way. The author wrote Truly very well. I could see everything vividly. The plot itself is so different from anything I have read and I was truly (haha) surprised with the plot twist near the end.

This is a short, fun read. I found the characters interesting and the plot intriguing. The development of how you understand Truly in the beginning vs. the ending is a great journey.
There aren’t any graphic scenes in the story, but there are references to certain subjects that may be uncomfortable for some readers.
Overall, I found this a great little reading adventure.

This book really messes with your head and emotions. I’m still not even sure what the truth is lol. It’s was so entertaining and you immediately feel nothing but empathy for Truly. I could read this author all the time! I love her writing style and the fact that she is very versatile in her writing. This supernatural crime story was just what I needed. Truly has nothing but bad luck when it comes to life. As she tries to remember her past and why she cannot remember anything from her childhood life continues to throw curve balls at her. I love the plot twist this book took. I did not expect the ending at all and was really surprised where life took Truly! I cannot wait to read more of the Knollville stories!

A young girl with a troubled past she can’t remember. Truly is working three jobs to pay rent to a sleazy slum lord and pay for a doctor who is trying to help her remember what trauma she faced in her past so she can stop having nightmares and move on with her life. As her doctor attempts to transition her meds, memories start to slowly come back, as do strange events occurring around her.
Nothing is as it seems, and every time you think you have it figured out, another twist is thrown at you from beginning to end. King includes great foreshadowing hinting at what is to come, but nothing is quite how you expected it.
Some psychological twists you see coming and a surprise ending that plays out in a way you don’t quite expect. My emotions were up and down with this roller coaster of a thriller. The ending leaves you with just as many questions as it does answers, wondering who really are the good and bad guys and how you really define good or bad.

Truly Unfortunate by C.A. King is the first book to the Welcome to Knollville paranormal series. The story begins with Truly as a child, and one can quickly conclude that she is being brought up in an extremely toxic and abusive environment. As the story continues and Truly has become a young adult, it is evident that some sort of event has caused her to lock out the memories of her past. She has been working to try to regain the memories, but she could find that the memories were better off left suppressed. I quite enjoyed the writing and felt the paranormal aspects and plot were very fresh and exciting enough to keep the pages turning. I would certainly be interested in reading the next book.

I read this story within a couple of hours, I could not put it down the second I started reading about Truly and all of the unfortunate incidents that continually followed her throughout her life. C. A. King has written a magnificent story that kept me guessing throughout the entire book, trying to put all the pieces together along with the detectives, Jeff and Miranda, who were trying to connect the 2 accidents that seemed a little too coincidental. I loved that as we go through the story, we understand the characters as we go from Truly’s past 9-year-old self to the present time, and get to put the story together like picking up the bread crumbs. You don’t want to miss even one piece or else you may not be able to follow along the path you are being led. This tale will cause you to go through so many emotions, from fear to anger, to distrust, and disbelief, not knowing what is real and what is a part of a young girl’s imagination. This is a must-read that will have you on the edge of your seat hoping that Charma really does come through for Truly.

Truly is a down on her luck girl, working 3 jobs to make ends meet. Also, her memories surrounding the age of 9 have simply vanished. She seeks a new therapist which helps her open her mind. Surrounding her new awareness are unfortunate accidents of those that have slighted our main character. Jeff, a detective, feels these accidents are more than they appear.
This is not a typical genre for me but I found myself loving the plot and seeing what was going on with Truly and how she is connected to the accidents. It was easy to follow the storyline but it had a somewhat predictable ending. I liked how the fortunes were used throughout the story to make the flow work well. Good start to this series.

I have read several of C. A. King’s books and have enjoyed them all; Truly Unfortunate is no exception! C. A. King delivers realistic, believable characters. This book has lots of plot twists and an unbelievable mystery with a very…unexpected ending. Truly is tormented with having no memory of her childhood. A series of unfortunate accidents also connect to Truly. But, Jeff, the local detective must piece together the truth. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the mystery along with the characters. This quick read was entertaining and well written, exactly what I’ve come to expect from C. A. King! If they include this same level of paranormal mystery, I can’t wait to read the rest of the Welcome to Knollville Series.

This is book one in Welcome to Knollville. A very well written psychological thriller. I was invested after the first chapter and just had to know the outcome. Truly has had a very rough childhood and has no memories of it. It’s really hard to say a lot more without giving to much away. except to say how wonderfully this book is written and knowing there will be more to the series. I definitely recommend this book, it’s a quick read that you won’t regret reading.

Fortune favors no one! At least in this book. It was interesting to say the least. A lot of moving parts that come together nicely. Truly Unfortunate I would recommend to anyone that likes anything to do with psychological thrillers. It makes you think, it gives you that kind of what’s really going on aspect.
I’ve read this author before and I feel like I’m hit or miss if I enjoy the book or not. This was one of those hit moments. Which is why I keep picking books up.
Truly finds herself in a pickle. Her memories are suppressed due to traumatic events from her past. Unfortunately those types of events start to follow her again. When an old childhood friend, it seemed, came up I thought he would be on her side. Knowing her troubled childhood. Never did I expect him to be out to bring her down. To pin the unexpected on her. Even convinces her doctors to turn against her. All in the name of money.
What will she do?
Does she truly not know what’s going on?
Does the old friend prove his case?
Those questions and many more are what keep the reader ingrained within the pages. I will always recommend this author if I enjoy the book or not. This time I’ll definitely recommend the book as well. The book is not overly long and you’ll want to finish it once you start.
So what are you waiting for?
While you start this one, I’ll look forward to the next book in the series.

Oh my goodness, this story is so good. I found the plot of the story to be so incredibly creepy. i love the psychological suspense/thrill to the story. The characters and how they intertwine just sucks you right into the story. Truly’s beginning story had me from the start. I couldn’t put the story down. This author has a way of writing that just grabs you by the arm and drags you in. This is right up there with her other stories I’ve read. I can’t wait to read more in this series. This is a must read.
