This is an entertaining tale about what could happen .about ocean life taking matters into it’s own. I enjoyed the twist after humanity drains life from the oceans. It certainly made me stop and think about some of the decisions we make. I loved the title that C A. King has given. Evil Sushi makes you stop and look and the blurb and want to read it. I do recommend this novel.

Evil Sushi is an amazing start of a new series by C.A. King. The imagination this author has makes her books such a pleasure to read. This book is hard to describe, but it is full of action, adventure, real life issues, horror, sci-fi and mysterious suspense. The author has done her job of making me think of issues brought up in the book, long after I finished reading it. One more thing, I’m so glad I don’t eat Sushi! Review by @sunbarn

King – Review by Sunday Barnaby
Evil Sushi by C.A. King is a story of paranormal suspense. It is an amazing thriller that I loved to read. I loved the original story that this came to be.
They aren’t zombies, by the way. They aren’t the undead in any way. They’re not like the rest. Just when you felt it was safe to go back for seconds, something unexpected happens. Evil Sushi flips the script, reintroducing beef to the menu. Two down-on-their-luck East Coast fishermen make a once-in-a-lifetime discovery that could end world hunger for good. They find themselves hurriedly embarking on a mission to change the lives of people all over the world. There’s no denying that their discovery has an impact, but not in the way they had hoped. Is Evil Sushi a fictional book, the ravings of a maniac, or a prophecy that’s the true question?
I loved every page of it and was definitely not ready for the book to end. It brought me into their world and I enjoyed every second of it. I can’t wait to read book number two.

Evil Sushi was a chilling read that really had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I don’t usually go for this type of book but I have read work by this author previously and the story was so well written, that although it wasn’t my usual, I still really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. The characters were really interesting to read about, the character development was excellent which is a strong point for this author in my opinion. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!

I thought this book was fun to read, and definitely got me out of my normal comfort zone when it comes to reading. The story is nothing that I have ever read before. Nothing like a combination of Evil Fish and Zombies :). Story had action, intrigue, mystery and a bit of horror all wrapped into one. I loved the concept and story and I cannot wait to read book #2!

I love me some C. A. King! This is a great paranormal horror read. I really like how parts of this story could come to be reality. This book will have you turning pages into the night and rooting for the little guy. With Rod’s good heart and Ned’s sarcasm what could possibly go wrong? Evil Sushi has a little of everything thrown in. I cannot wait to read book two!!!

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by King. She knows how to bring readers back to her books. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Rod is a fisherman and when he and a friend hit gold things start looking up. Sort of. He can see him falling for his friend’s daughter, but he doesn’t have anything to offer. The quote I chose for Rod is: “You’re in early, Ned. Did you have any luck out there?”
Sally has been taking care of her father since her mother passed away. She has her eye on Rod, but doesn’t think he feels the same. When her father and Rod bring in something that changes everything. The quote I chose for Sally is: “You’re the exception, I tell you. You want some water? Or I can make some lemonade, if you’d like.”

C. A. King’s Evil Sushi does what it says on the tin. There’s sushi. It’s evil. I would probably not recommend eating sushi while you read this book. Unless it’s vegetarian sushi – you’re probably safe there. It’s 2021, so if you’re avoiding pandemic-related horror this is not the story for you. But if you enjoy speculating about how much worse things could’ve been, knowing easily something dangerous could spread and how hard it would be for authorities to stop it in its tracks, this makes for an entertaining read. There are some great characters, as I’ve come to expect from King’s books. The story centres around two fishermen – Rod and Ned. Both very down-to-earth, practical men, they are both motivated by their love for Ned’s daughter Sally, who Ned hopes his younger friend will one day pluck up the courage to confess his feelings to. They struggle to make a living in a poorly regulated world where big corporations can easily take what they want, leaving little for anyone else. This is a really entertaining book which left me wanting more (and, fortunately, the sequel is already out!). It gets five stars from me! I would recommend it to fans of quirky horror – if the evil bunny rabbit in Holy Grail is your idea of peak humour you’ll love this!

Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King is a great read. I am all for taking steps to ensure our planet is around for generations to come, and this book takes us on quite the extreme adventure in doing so. In a rural fishing town, two fishermen find a shocking, new species of marine creature and the story hits the ground running! This story is a page-turner and really makes you stop and think about what could happen if we do not start taking care of our environment. C.A. King is a riveting author, and I recommend anyone who lives on the planet Earth to pick up this book. The best part is that it’s only the first book in the series, so there is more to come! You will not be disappointed! 5 stars!

5 Stars Evil Sushi (Evil Sushi Series Book 1) by C.A. King
Evil Sushi is the first book in the Evil Sushi Series by C.A. King . This is a horror/fantasy that is fast paced and packed with, suspense and mystery and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this story trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This is a story about the effects of climate change. Find out what happens when Meat consumption has been banned except for fish and two fishermen come across a different species of fish. Will this discovery change things for all? I can’t wait to read more from this Author. I highly recommend reading this book.

I didn’t think I would like this book at all. Turns out that I loved it! It was a thriller that had me hooked from the appetizer to the dessert. I’ve never read a book by this author previously, but the cover caught my attention because it reminded me of a geisha mask which I love. Reading the back of the book I decided to give it a try. And I’m thoroughly glad that I did. I will say I am a huge horror fan, and this is full of that. In fact, it’s got a bit of everything in it and will leave you scratching your head wondering what is going to happen next. I found it hard to put down and finished it in a day. I think that the author put a lot of time into the details and description, so you feel like you are viewing it in person. At least I did. I will certainly be looking for more works from this writer.

Two fishermen are down on their luck, as are most of the others with the same livelihood all over the world since people started to blame the meat industry for global warming and which led to a huge increase in demand for fish and the opening of the international fishing routes, since then, the seas have been overfished and not replenished, even the vegetation on the sea bed is dead and people are fighting over any meat they can get a hold of. Rod and Ned live in the town of Treacle, it is a typical small community which centres around the fishing industry and traditions passed down through the generations which has kept it alive, albeit now the boats are all in need of repair but are having to wait until finances allow.
One day, Rod and Ned decide to go out and see if there is anything left after the big corporation’s boats scoured the area and used charges to get as much out of the sea as physically possible, but when they go out and use one of Rod’s homemade gadgets to see the state of play under the water, they find something unexpected, something which could well change their fortunes, so they decide to take a sample back with them to take a closer look. What they discover when they get home is nothing short of breathtaking and when someone accidentally tries to remedy a mistake, the consequences are miraculous, while Rod cautiously decides to do some research, Ned tries something a bit more drastic and when he says that they have tried it and nothing bad has come of it, they decide to try and sell it.
Early the next morning, they go to market to sell their find, but anger the locals when they accidentally start an auction and when Ned hears the amount of money offered by a businessman who doesn’t belong, he takes it upon himself to accept before Rod can do anything about it. This business man then asks for a repeat order a few days later and thinking that this is the end of it and that their luck maybe turning round, they try and pack up while avoiding the rest of the shoppers, it is only when a few days later and the mysterious businessman hires someone to take the rest of the stock by force and pay them for the privilege of staying silent, that they begin to think that they made a mistake.
Rod and Ned try to forget about the whole thing and get on with their lives until strange things start happening in Treacle and that feeling of unease is reinforced by hearing news reports of other strange events. Will Rod and Ned come clean about what they found and try to defend the reasoning behind it, or will the whole thing backfire and end up affecting the world in the opposite way they hoped? This is a horror story which makes you think about whether something similar could actually come to pass while keeping you hooked until the end.

I quite liked this book! While it began with a slow burn, I definitely enjoyed the story, especially once it started picking up steam. It also questions some aspects of environmental policy in the beginning, as well as addresses the cold, hard truth that we have not fixed things just yet. Even though this is a work of fiction, it is nice to see a wake-up call thrown in. If you enjoy small coastal towns, hidden discoveries, and things not turning out exactly as you had thought or hoped, grab a copy of the book today!

This is the first book in the Evil Sushi series. This is a Paranormal Horror novel and is 219 pages. This story follows two east coast fisherman who are just trying to survive in their small town. This story is set not too much farther in the future and meat has been banned for consumption, so that only leaves fish. This book kind of shows what will happen with pollution and climate change. With corporate fishing taking hold, it is becoming harder and harder to fish. While out on a fishing expedition, they find something. It is either going to be good or go very wrong. This was a such a great read!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back for seconds…
Evil Sushi turns the tables, putting meat back on the menu.
Two down-on-their-luck East Coast fishermen make the discovery of a lifetime—one that could solve world hunger once and for all. They find themselves fast-tracked on a quest to alter lives around the globe. Their discovery changes things, there’s no doubt about it, but not in the way they hoped.
Is Evil Sushi fiction, the ramblings of a lunatic, or a prophecy as to what may come to pass? Pick this one up and decide for yourself.
I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.
Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.
To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.
People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.
I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.
I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.
Fast forward to today…

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King Review by Kaitlyn Stewart My stars: 5 out of 5
I love Christmas romance movies. So when I saw this book and read the synopsis I knew I had to read it! Julietta is cursed, every time she comes near a mistletoe something bad happens. Such as breaking a high heel. C.A. King is a wonderful author. She makes you want to know if the curse will break or if this Christmas romance going to end. This story is filled with laughs, magic, and the warm, fuzzy feelings you get when watching a Christmas Hallmark movie. Honestly, this book should be made into a movie!!!

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King. This is a wonderful fantasy read. It is basically the retelling of the old fable Medusa & Perseus. Medusa Black is a very successful psychiatrist who has left her estranged family behind her to move to Knollville and her families aging rundown mansion. While in Knollville Medusa meets Perry P a private investigator who is handsome and a bit strange. Medusa doesn’t have great memories of growing up in this mansion because her family believed in all sorts of magic and creepy stuff. The house has always been something she never wanted any part of after leaving. But after her parents death she is here. Perry P is hired by a a mysterious client and he figures he should help Medusa figure out the secrets of the old mansion because it could help them both. The chemistry between them is not expected by either. This book is full of secrets, magic and suspense. Such a page turner. Do yourself a favor and read Shattered Reality today!
5 Star Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King
Shattered Reality is the first book in the Summoned Series. I absolutely loved, loved , loved this book. I’ve read other books by this author but I must say this is my favorite yet . From the moment I started reading till the end I was lost in the pages. This author gives us a completely new spin of Medusa and Perseus. Her attention to detail makes you feel like you are part of the story. Get ready to be taken on quite the ride. I don’t want to give anything away so I’m just going to say I highly recommend reading this book and you wont be disappointed. I can’t wait for what’s next.

King, USA Today Bestselling Author – Review by Dawn Daughenbaugh
This is the first book by King that I’ve read. It won’t be my last as I loved this book. If you like paranormal and romance then this is for you.
Mudesa has to go back to her childhood home after she learns of the death of her parents. Six months. Can she survive the six months? The quote I chose for Mudesa is: “I’m never going back! There is nothing you can do to make me!”
Perry has clients who want to buy antiques. When he meets the owner of the house what happens. Will he find his happily ever after? The quote I chose for Perry is: “I have been collecting items for people for some time. I know how daunting the job can be. Trust me, it is much easier to find skeletons with someone standing beside you.”
I thought this book was an awesome one. It was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I thought it was well written and it pulled me in from page one. The main charcters are what made this story really good for me. They were relatable, awesome and hot hot hot! This book had some twists and turns and that just make me like it even more and kept me turning page after page. All of the romance and mystery and magic came together in this awesome story and I cannot wait to read more by this author! I would recommend this to a friend! Happy Reading!
Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author – Review by Gail Guerrero
Five Stars
Reading Shattered Reality was quick and enjoyable. C.A. King takes you to a place that gives the mind a little shake. Making you question your reality. Could everything really be as it is or is it a mirrored image of a different reality. I really liked the spin with the mirrors and magic. The fact that Mudesa didn’t believe in any of it gave the story a kick. I really enjoyed the plot. The story had a really nice flow and no sidetracking. I did find it annoying that she didn’t believe magic for so long with everything happening around her. Perry is a creepy character for me. The way he appeared through the story. Then you find out why and the pieces fall into place. I also like that I couldn’t figure out the story line from the start. Like I said it’s a good read with a little magic.
‘Shattered Reality’ is an engaging and enjoyable paranormal fantasy story which is a retelling of the ancient mythological tale of Perseus and Medusa and is set in modern times. In this story Mudesa Black is a successful and respected psychiatrist who has left her estranged family behind her. However, having received a phone call Mudesa finds herself heading back home to Knollville and her family’s ageing mansion to face both her fears and her destiny. Meanwhile in Knollville private investigator Perry P’s latest client who has remained anonymous is happy paying him for what he sees as an easy job for easy money. All Perry has to do is watch ‘some dame’ for a few months however the more he watches the more curious he gets about the mysteries at the ageing mansion. Perry is not the only one wanting to unravel the mansions secrets as Mudesa plays detective herself. The pair soon discover that solving the mysteries may bring them both closure but in ways that they did not imagine were even possible. This was a page turner of a novel which had me hooked from page one. The author is very good at bringing both the setting of the book and also the characters to life due to her detailed and descriptive narrative. The storyline flowed well and the plot had enough twists in it to keep me guessing until the end. I felt immersed in the novel whilst reading it and as it’s book one in the authors new ‘Summoned’ series I look forward to reading book two.

Shattered Reality by C.A. King is the first book in the new Summoned series. I always enjoy a new book by C.A. King and this did not disappoint. Retelling and reworking the tale of Medusa and Perseus into modern times wonderfully I flew through the pages of this book. Mudesa Black, a psychiatrist, who has a new role to take in her life is the main character. Perry P. is a private investigator with a mysterious new client. I have always enjoyed this classic tale and many do not take it on especially reworking to modern times. C.A. King did a great job and created characters I really enjoyed and a story which was fantastic. I look forward to more from this series and the author in the future.
While this book was out of my usual genre, i loved it!! The way the story of Medusa was written had me not wanting to put this book down until the end. It was very well written and I am looking forward to the next book from this wonderful author.
This book drew me in from the beginning and kept me entertained throughout. I loved this modern take on an ancient tale. There are wonderful characters in this story, Mudesa and Perry. Mudesa is having to go back home to handle her parents affairs after their death. Perry is a private investigator looking for something he was hired to find. This book is full of fantasy, magic, twists and turns. The author does an exceptional job in taking me into a fantastical world that I never want to leave. This is not the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last. I find this author to be a great storyteller and I cannot wait to read what’s next.
This is a great story that grips you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. The author does a great job of building the characters and making you feel like you re part of their world. I have read several books by this author and I have enjoyed them all.
Mudesa is a successful psychiatrist. She is a logical thinker who know that magic and superstitions aren’t real. But is she right? After her parents pass away she has to return to the home she has left behind. Is returning home a good idea? What secrets were her parents hiding from her? Was all the stories her parents told her about magic and demons true or were her parents mad?
Oh, what a delightful little story Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1) by C.A. King, was. It reads like a mystery but not the kind you would expect. Great characters, great story line with the added bonus of the deeper introspections of facing your personal demons. It was a quick little read which suited me just fine cause sometimes that’s just what you want. This is what you want, read this one.
A retelling of the Medusa & Perseus in a, updated and original way. Medusa has left her hometown, become a well established psychiatrist, and tried to move on from her past. But an unexpected call that her parents have been killed brings her right back home. Oh, the things that come up in this story. You will be enthralled and won’t want to stop reading. I hope you like it as much as I did. Looking forward to the next book for sure.
Shattered Reality by C.A. King is the first book in the Summoned series. This is a brilliant retelling of an old classic story brought into more modern times. The author has done an amazing job of making the story her own while also keeping the same mythological feel about it. The story is everything I have come to expect from this author – well written, exciting and completely engaging from the moment I started reading. The characters were really interesting to read about as well. They added to an already strong storyline. C.A. King really has become one of my firm favourites and this book is just one example as to why. I would highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what is next!
King is a master of paranormal and fantasy literature. And I LOVED this take on the classic Medusa/Perseus tale. From the gorgeous cover to just the fantastic tale, fantasy lovers and anyone obsessed with ancient mythology need to purchase this ASAP.
Side note – I want to live in Knollville. The universe King has created there is just mesmerizing.
