This is the fourth book in the Grave Digger Academy Series, and it seems that with each installment, I am pulled in even more! Makayla is back in the Academy for the fourth year, and a whole lot has changed. It’s quite an unpredictable ride as the author threw in twists and turns to keep us on our toes. Makayla doesn’t know who she can trust, and she’s finding that trying to get through on her own may not be enough. Each of these books build off of each other, so I recommend reading the entire series in order to get the full experience (and not be lost!) This author has become one of my favorites, so much so that I am on my way to pick up more of their work now. I can’t wait for the fifth installment to come out!

This is the third book in the Grave Digger Academy Series, and it is definitely my favorite so far! The author has somehow found a way to fit in much detail and action in quite a short read. Typically, if books are shorter, it feels like we’re missing something and that the story could have been fleshed out a little more. While this is a quicker read, the author did a marvelous job ensuring the story is fully complete with no stones left unturned. Makayla is in her third year at the Academy, and it seems to get more interesting each year. Will her brothers keep her safe, or will the danger at school be too great for all of them? I highly recommend reading these books in order as they do build off each other quite a bit. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next!

Another quick and exciting installment in this series. Makayla finds herself thrown back into a world that is becoming stricter each and everyday. She can’t be helped by her helpers, she doesn’t know who she can trust; she must find the path that leads her to the answers. We are introduced to many new characters in this book and the reader quickly learns who can be trusted and who cannot, unfortunately, Makayla is not privy to that information. This is a book you will read in one sitting and find yourself ready for more. My one complaint about all the books in this series is I wish they were longer, although the bonus chapter was a nice touch and helped to tide over until the next installment.

This is the second book in the Grave Digger Academy Series and I loved this one even more than the last! Makayla is now in her second year at the Grave Digger Academy, but somehow the beginning of the school year throws a lot of curveballs at her. With plenty of mischief, friends, drama, and surprises, there’s no way this year will be boring. I flew through this book so quickly because I was not going to be interrupted! There is definitely something weird about the school this year, but will they be able to figure it out and stay safe? I highly recommend this series, but I would start with book one so that you can get the full backstory!

I have read other books by this author before, so I knew I was going to enjoy this one. I didn’t have any idea how much I would love it though! I really enjoy the supernatural fantasy genre, so this was right up my alley. Makayla ends up at Grave Digger Academy after being denied at all of the other schools she applied to. The curriculum they learn at Grave Digger Academy is quite interesting and not the same as the definition of gravedigger we know. The flow of the story was great, as were the characters. I had a difficult time putting this one down because I loved getting lost in their world. I highly recommend if you love the supernatural!

C. A. King delivers a great, quick read in Grave Digger Academy IV. Makayla returns to an even more changed Academy than before; one run by someone other than Mary Meet. There are lots of new faces as well as old ones, but none Makayla can truly trust. Yet, she pushes on to find answers. Information comes to light about Makayla’s family as well as the history behind the banishing of necromancy. This information links well with information from previous books and it is fascinating to see how those connections tie everything together. The detail in this book is amazing, even with being such a fast read. I felt like I was right there with Makayla on her journey. I feel like I’ve become connected to the characters in this series, especially Makayla, and I’m anxiously awaiting the continuation of this story in the next book!

Just like all the previous books in the series, this book picks up right after the previous. This is not to be read as a stand alone. The whole series is amazing so far though so read them all!

Makayla is running out of people to trust. Some of her friends are missing and the ones who are around seem to hate her. She has been told multiple times to watch who she trusts so she decided to trust no one. It’s easier this way. The crones are trying their hardest to control Makayla. Everything she worked hard at last year is banned, from a long list of library books to even helpers. Even new professors and a head mistress. Makayla wants answers and she will stop at nothing to finally get them. It seems every time she thinks she’s taking a step towards her goal, more questions are formed than answers.

This book was a lot more fast paced than the previous books and had an unexpected twist of who Makayla could and could not trust. This book seemed to be building up to something big for the next installment of the series and I cannot wait to see where Makayla goes next. I honestly love this author, their writing is unique and keeps you hooked from the start to finish with anything I have read from them. I highly recommend this author to anyone who likes to read things that are outside the box.

A new year begins with Helpers banned from campus and a whole new look to Grave Digger Academy. A new headmistress, new curriculum and a whole lot of new staff and students means you can’t trust anyone…

Makayla now has only herself to fully rely on for any answers about what’s happening in the magical world and trying to find help is proving to be hard. Can she survive year 4 without too much trouble?

This book starts out a little before term starts with a lot of rules that Makayla is having a bit of trouble following, but that’s nothing compared to what’s waiting for her when she makes it back to the academy…

This one, like the previous three just loves so fast! I want to keep going and then suddenly I’m at the end. It’s both refreshing to be pulled in so much that quickly and sad because I keep running out of pages!

It feels like I keep getting more questions to ask and far from enough answers. How will book 5 be enough to give me an ending?! Happy reading!

This is the fourth book in the Grave Digger Academy series. I highly recommend reading the series in order before starting this one, for backgrounds on the characters past events and the world. Another short read, but this doesn’t stop it being and engaging and enjoyable read.
Things just seem to keep getting worse for Makayla, loneliness sinks in again and my heart breaks for her, as surely, it’s worse than being alone when you’re surrounded by people who clearly don’t want anything to do with you. Things are put in place to work against her and yet she continues to work towards finding her truth.
I really enjoy Makayla and the strength she displays in the difficult positions she is put in. She continues to develop, which I love, and persevere despite all the obstacles in her way. I admire her.
This was another well-written instalment, and I can wait for the next book release to continue joining Makayla on the next leg of her adventure.

This is the third book in the Grave Digger Academy series. I would recommend reading the first two books prior to starting this one as the books follow on from each other and will give you a better understanding o the world and characters.
Makayla is thrown back into a form of isolation and seeking answers on her return to school once again. I felt for her as things were clearly different than they used to be, something was wrong and she was unable to get the help she previously had. It isn’t easy being put in that situation and so I admired Makayla for this as she works to figure out what’s going on.
While I wish the book was longer, the author did a good job of including character development which I love in books. I do wish the book had been longer and we could see more, it works at the length it is. It’s an easy read and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

This is the second book in the Grave Digger Academy series. I would recommend reading the first before starting this one. Following on from the previous book, Makayla returns to school to news of the inter-academy competition bringing with is more problems for Makayla and her friends.
This is a short but fun read nonetheless. I enjoyed finding out more about the way the academies run e.g., funding, as this added a little extra to the story and made for an interesting storyline. I was happy to reconnect with old characters and find out more about them as they develop throughout the competition.
As with the first book, I only wish it had been longer. But the author has done a good job and I am sure I will enjoy the next book in the series.

This is the first book in the Grave Digger Academy series. This is a series that I’ve been wanting to read for a while now, so I was happy to finally get the chance. Although short, this was still a fun, enjoyable read.
I enjoyed the plot and felt the overall story was written well, creating a magical world to get sucked into. I liked the characters, particularly Makayla. I felt for her when she started school at a place she had not intended and starts off so isolated. Starting with disappointment is was interesting to see what would happen as the role of the Grave Digger was revealed. I can see a lot of potential in this series, and book 1 was a good introduction into the world.
I only wish the book was longer and went more in depth in some areas, but overall considering the length, the author did a good job and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Grave Digger Academy IV is the most recent Grave Digger Academy series release. This book picks up shortly where the third book left off. For the most enjoyment, take my advice and read the earlier books before getting into this one. Makayla has returned to school, and there have been a lot of changes. There is a new headmistress introducing a new curriculum, her allies are gone, and she is the most disliked of students. Does Makayla have what it takes to figure out all of the underlying happenings at the school and in her world? The story is quickly paced to keep you on your toes. I have enjoyed learning more about the world of the grave diggers as Makayla has learned. I look forward to the next book in the series to see what happens next.

Makayla is having an argument with her dad about going back to school. He is forbidding her going. Her actions in the past few years are showing the stress on her parents. A letter shows up and the argument is over as she has been ordered to return to school.

She is excited because she is hoping to finally see her friends. Life is not fair as she is now the one and only disliked pupil hated by all. She doesn’t know what is going on. Why is everyone staring at her? She will need to get to the bottom of what is going on.

This is where her adventure begins. Who to trust is going to be a huge struggle. Friends may not be trustworthy but enemies may be.

This was another great addition to the Grave Digger Series.

Note: This is not a standalone book. In order to understand what’s going on, you need to read the previous books in the series.

After things slowed down a little in book three, this book picks up the pace again. A lot of changes have happened and Makayla is embroiled in mystery. She’s cut off from much of her support system and doesn’t know who to trust. This story will have you leaning into the twists and turns as Makayla learns more about herself and the academy.

Phenomenal world building, superb characters. Fabulous read!

This is the 4th book in the Grave Digger Academy Series. This is a story that you definatwly need to read in order to get the full details of our characters and what is going on in their world.
This is another story filled with secrets, magic, adventure, danger, and the constant battle of knowing who you can and can’t trust.

Makayla has returned to school but things have changed and not for the better. Everyone who was her friend is now keeping her distance from her. The new headteacher is trying to keep her and her magic under control but putting in place all these rules to work against her. And there is a another secret she has to uncover to get to the bottom of who she is, and why people are trying to control her. With her old friends gone and new people watching every move she makes will she be able to uncover the secrets all on her own?

This series keeps getting better and better and seeing the story unravel with the added parts of Makayla’s past life and family history coming to light a little at a time it makes it a captivating, magical read.

This is the third book in the Grave Digger Academy series. I have read all three so far and recommend reading them in order. It doesn’t give enough back story for you to fully understand what is going on if you don’t.

Makayla and her brothers expect the academy to be full to the brim with new students this year! Only when they get there, it’s anything but full. Something major has changed over the summer. Her brothers are forced to leave, but she must stay. She learns a lot about herself this year and a new insight into what’s really going on. Will it be too much for her?

New book, new year. Makayla is back for her third year at the Grave Digger Academy and it is worse than ever. Attendance is down, professors and students are scared and transferred out but Makayla is forced to stay. The crones do not trust her and want to keep her under their thumb. The school is in lockdown with a whole new set of rules, no one is to leave the premises. Not only that, but the crones think Makayla is too inexperienced to harness her legendary helpers and is forced to find a more ‘normal’ one.

This book is a lot slower paced than the previous two in the series. It was kind of like a montage of Makayla learning more about her potential and working on herself to get stronger. I liked how the author actually wrote about the struggle and the work Makayla put in. A lot of times, the main character is just all of a sudden super powerful and at full potential which makes for an unrealistic arc. I really enjoy this author’s writing. I am excited for the next installment of the series!

I feel this is a better story than the last couple. It was a little sporadic in the beginning but once it got rolling it was wonderful! I was completely glued to the story and trying to figure out what is going to happen. The secondary characters are starting to fill out and become full of life. Plus we are seeing more out of Makayla. Who can she trust and who is part of the problem? I was unhappy with the way the story stopped but it leaves me wanting more!

Grave Digger Academy IV is part of the Grave Digger fantasy series. It’s aimed at teen and YA readers but will appeal to all who enjoy magic school stories. This book is best enjoyed as part of the series so that you watch the characters grow and develop and see how the story leads on from the previous book.

I love that this story gets us going with some mysteries straight away. Who is Jezabella Peacock and what does she have to do with Makayla? How has the school changed, and what impact will that have on her? There are plenty of twists, it’s a real page-turner! I’m looking forward to reading the fifth book when it comes out.

This book gets five stars from me! I’ve enjoyed other series by this author as well so knew I was in for a treat when I started the Grave Digger Academy series! It’s great for existing fans of the author, as well as being a great entry point.

Tropic Heat (Flamingo Island Series) is a really fun read by C.A. King. It has the feel of a romcom with a funny, sweet, feel-good, and engaging story about a jilted groom, a nonrefundable honeymoon, his best friend, and holiday hijinks. This is a novella-length book that can be easily devoured in one fun sitting. It is a very entertaining story, and although it may be short in pages it delivers the ‘reading experience’ of a much longer novel.
I have said this many times before and am likely to keep repeating it again many more times; I am a big fan of Ms. Kings work and have enjoyed all her stories immensely- so it was no great surprise that this book was a winning recipe for me as well. This definitely has all the ingredients you could want from an entertaining contemporary romantic comedy about love, loss, deception, con artists, cops, revelations, a touch of fate, finding that some things weren’t meant to be, and finding love unexpectedly.
Happy reading!

Thank you, C.A. King!

I have read many of C.A’s books and what I enjoy about her writing is that you never know what you will get because of her diverse ability to write in many different genres. Tropic Heat is short, sweet and a fun read that will have you laughing out loud at the goings on. I just wish that the stories were longer not that you miss out on anything good with less pages because C.A. knows her stuff.
Sometimes you find love in the least expected place or person. Daniel may be heartbroken but this not honeymoon may be the best thing that has happened to him. With his best friend Joey in toe what could go wrong or right? Con artist, cops, turtles and to find out what they mean you will have to read it.
Tropic Heat is a great book for a quick escape. So, grab a cocktail or two and feel as though you have stepped into the cruise of a lifetime or is it.
There are many, many books still left to explore, and I look forward to getting through each and every one of them.

Throw in some hot, steamy romance that will have you feel like you are in the tropics. This was a fun read. I enjoyed the chemistry between our groom and cop. When they were reading the pickup lines, I about fell off my chair. I have had a few of those used on me. That was a treat to read. I felt bad for his besty having no luck and getting drunk with the turtle. But hey, the turtle is like a bartender. Lots of adventure, romance and fun. Left heartbroken and alone with a pair of expensive, non-refundable tickets to the exclusive and enticing Flamingo Island Resort, what was a jilted groom supposed to do?

Daniel’s best friend Joey knows; they were taking that trip. The best way to get over a woman is to get on top of or under another, after all.

This almost-groom might not be the type to hop from one relationship to another, but when all else fails, a plethora of fancy little umbrellas were waiting to keep tears out of the drinks.

Everything is set. There’s no turning back. The two of them are about to have the trip of a lifetime, just not the one either expected.

Maybe things really do happen for a reason.

About C.A. King

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you differently.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today…

Grave Digger Academy IV (Grave Digger Academy Series) by C.A. King. This is the next fun installment in the Grave Digger Academy and it picks up the summer before school is about to start. The old headmistress has left and the new one is Ulva Everbleed. The building is half finished because the Crones shut down construction. The only way you can go back to school is if you received a letter. Makayla is excited to get a letter but when she sees her friends they ignore her. There are lots of changes this year, new headmistress, new teachers and new students. She doesn’t know who she can trust. Everything seems to be weird and unpredictable. Some people have disappeared and some are acting strange. Makayla is being watched at everything she does and she can’t have her helpers this year. This book is full of death, witches, paranormal, magic and mystery. Another great installment but I do recommend you read them in order.

Makayla is ready for another year at the Grave Digger Academy. When she gets there things have changed. They have a new headmistress and also other people watching them all the time. Makayla is so upset when she finds out she also can’t have any of her helpers with her. She is shocked when her past asks for her help but does she have anyone that she can count on?

Makayla is back at Grave Digger Academy, but everything is different this year. There is a new headmistress, and a lot of the students didn’t return, or perhaps weren’t invited back, or maybe disappeared….everyone has a different theory. There is so much going on and the plot thickened a lot in this one. Relationships were built with others strengthened and some severed. It wasn’t quite as much of a cliff hanger ending, but left a lot open. I cannot wait for the next book. I need to know where this is heading and ends. Makayla is ready for her third year at the Grave Digger Academy. She is ready to see her friends after last year’s problem. Makayla is getting more powerful as she learns at this school. She is shocked when she notices that some of the teachers are missing and some of her friends. Makayla is also being watched by the Crones which means there could be trouble. She wants to know what is really going on but will it put her in danger?
