This author is one of my favorites! The first two books in the Millersville series were so well written and full of suspense-so much so that I jumped at the chance to read this book. Our main character has had some tough times occur in her life and the book starts with her and a fire. Now since she started the fire over a very silly mistake…she was trying to cover up a secret from her past. Well not only did she start a fire in a motel and destroy the room and a couple nearby, she failed to heal the pain of her past mistake! Well her kind mom is so supportive and sends her on a trip just to get away. Little did they know the true story behind cabin eight! I don’t want to give it away but just know that curiosity killed the cat! As usual, I’m looking forward to the next gem of literature from the author!

This book started out a bit on the odd side for me but as I turned the pages I was hooked. After having set a motel room on fire, and damaging several other, Miranda finds herself at a resort. While there she comes to realize that she has been set up and nothing is as it seems. There is a whole underground operation going on and she is one of the latest test subjects. They have a huge advantage over here since they know everything about her life from the tragedy that happened in her younger year up to the point we read about in the book. She must face her past as well as her fears if she is to find her way out. The question is will she be able to do that? I did enjoy this book. While I felt it started out a bit slow for me it did get better and it kept me turning the pages.

Great and mysterious read. Miranda Diggs has had her share of bad fortune, did she bring these events on herself? But is this resort her mother booked her what it really seems to be? Will she be able to get herself straight and find a way out of this crazy testing facility she has found herself trapped in. Hopefully things will start looking up for Miranda as she tries to find her way.

This was an incredible book! I can count on one hand the number of books that keep me engaged and on my toes, and this is definitely one of them. With all the twists and turns, I couldn’t guess what was going to happen next which usually comes naturally for me! The flow of the story can feel a little disjointed at times, but I think it added to the feel of this psychological thriller. I liked this entire series, but this one was definitely my favorite. It was full of suspense and had me on the edge of my seat trying to uncover what would happen to Miranda. I highly recommend picking up this series, and when you make it to this book, you’ll understand what I’m raving about!

This was an interesting storyline in a series that keeps you guessing where the author will go next. This follows the story of Miranda, who has experienced trauma and a series of unfortunate events that have gotten her in to trouble, gets away to reset and process these events. This getaway is not what she expects and she soon finds herself being tested in new, twisted ways.
Overall this was an intriguing and completely unexpected storyline, which is something I’ve been accustomed to with this author. The action starts immediately into the book and continues all the way through, making this and engaging and quick read. It’s definitely a different type of psychological thriller than I would say is typical, but engaging overall.

I think we all know someone like Miranda, does she ask for all the bad or does it just follow her? Is this karma for a former life?
This story while part of a series can be read by itself and it still makes sense. I really liked the story but felt like something was missing. At times first person presence tense made it hard to read but over all it wasn’t bad!

Reading this series, I’ve realised that they can all be read at standalones as they each have a different focus.
As with the earlier books in the series, this one is full of suspense and twists. The characters are yet again written well, and the plot is great.
Miranda is the main character, grieving a friend and searching for peace as many do, unknowingly getting herself deeper into danger. Her strength in fighting and way of thinking kept me rooting for her survival as she progressed.
I became fully immersed into this original story, wishing for Miranda’s success and genuinely fearing for her safety and the minor events became increasingly dangerous.
I hope to read more from this author in future!

Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were trapped in a situation where you had no control? How often do you consent to things (online or in print) without actually reading the fine print/disclaimers? This well written book makes you question what you would choose and how you prioritize things at times. Our heroine steps out of her norm and makes retributions for her past actions.

Amazing books especially if it has different series. The character Miranda kept me on my feet knowing that she wanted peace in her life from her memories, she found terror and mystery.
The author Susan Specht Oram did an amazing job keeping me on the edge and trying to solve a mystery. I also read the other series as well and wow. I do recommend this book if you are interested in mystery, thriller, and psychological stories.

I wasn’t sure about the book at the beginning. I don’t want to say books need to stick to formal writing but there were many short, fragment sentences making it hard to imagine this story. Things became a little whimsical, and the story reminded me a little of Alice in Wonderland. I thought the story was supposed to be suspenseful but it wasn’t, things happened pretty fast and I would expect this to at least take more than 10 hours. Our main character comes to terms with her past, and I’m glad she finally apologized to the motel owners. The author includes questions at the end of the story for readers which I found interesting and I like they get you thinking about the ethics of things.

Mind blowing
Book 3 of The Millersville series brings another gripping story. This book is darker than the last, with a mix of paranormal, sci-fi and psychological thriller. It brings to mind the old saying ‘curiosity killed the cat’. These books are definitely fast paced and I am loving the diversity that the author brings each time. Looking forward to the next book.

Susan Specht Oram is seriously a genius. I cannot get enough of this series and her writing. She gives you a tale that will leave your palms sweaty, your heart pounding, and a teetering between being on the edge of your seat and wanting to curl up and just keep going. Incredible flow and the characters she writes are to die for. This book psychologically got me good. I thought so many times, you need to take a break, walk away for a minute and process but I seriously couldn’t put it down! Can’t get enough and hope there is many more from her in my library!!!

Cabin Eight is the third book in The Millersville series. Although being a part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.This psychological conspiracy thriller is full of suspense, drama, and foreboding danger. This was my first time reading a book by Susan Specht Oram. I found this novel to be very unbelievable making it hard for me to get roped in. I had to keep putting the book down and coming back with an open mind. Despite these obstacles, the book was fast paced, there was great character building, and the overall story line had me invested until the end. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to a friend or to anyone who enjoys the psychological thriller genre.. I would definitely take the time to read another book by this author in the near future.

Traumatized by an event early in her life, Miranda accidentally sets fire to a motel. The compounding grief and guilt of her actions cause her to take time off from her work as a cleaner and spend some much-needed alone time thanks to a discounted offer to a resort. Hopeful that the trip will help her rest and come back to her senses, Miranda is more than a little unsettled when she is assigned to a more run-down cabin than the name of the ‘resort’ had suggested. In a shocking turn of events that are both psychologically and emotionally charged, Miranda finds herself in the precarious position of being at the mercy of others and must fight to escape. I like how the book was lighter in tone than some of the psychological thrillers I’ve read before. The author has a way of adding levity to the narration while holding the reader captivated, but I felt that some moments were a little overdone which kept me from believing and being completely lost in the story. I’ve read some of the other books by the author and have enjoyed each one, this one included.

I have read the other first two books to this series and I have to say just like the other ones this one did not disappoint. You can read these books any way you want but I think you would be more enjoyable to start from the beginning. I could not get enough of this book. This book was so intense that I was sucked in and couldn’t stop till I finished. Its fast pace so you need to make sure you hold on tight. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way thou. It was so detailed and vividly described that it makes you really feel like your right there beside Miranda as she goes, thou her experience of survival and struggles. The other characters of clowns, snakes, an evil corporation, mad scientists made this book very intriguing and just adds that little touch of suspense. I can stress enough on how amazing this book was and how much I really have enjoyed everything about the series and books.

Cabin Eight was an interesting book, very suspense filled, but not scary. It has a similar feel to the author’s other book in the same series (The Millersville series), Shore Lodge. The book had me thinking alot- it seems too bizarre of a situation to be real… yet when you think about it, it could totally happen. Makes the reader think twice before we check the next box after (not) reading another long disclaimer filled with fine print. The author did a good job explaining the situations, and describing them. I was able to envision the scenes as they unfolded. Miranda found herself in several difficult situations as we went through this psychological thriller. At first I didn’t like her character at all, but she grew on me. I was happy with the ending and overall enjoyed the book. I think it was the best in this series so far! I look forward to more from this author.

I enjoyed Cabin Eight better than the second book of the trilogy, The Thieves, because not only did it have an escape room feel, the clues and cleverness Miranda must exhibit were spot on. The setting descriptions and the terror she goes through was more profound, similar to the first book (Shore Lodge) of the series (although all three books can be read as stand alone novels).
My favorite part of the book was the internal thoughts Miranda has, her dialogue makes it feel as you are locked in the facility and not her. I felt the ending was a little rushed after the slow build up in the middle of the book. I would have also liked to see more of an epilogue of what Miranda chooses to do in her life after the ordeal she goes through. I also thought the interspersed social media/computer savviness thrown in throughout the book was a clever way to bring up the “why” she finds herself in a not-for-fun escape room. 4.5 stars (because I liked the premise of the first book, a kid turning in a parent in a psych ward, more original).

Now Miranda is locked into a barn and uncovers something sinister going on, will she be able to escape?
3.5, this was an interesting story that took a turn I did not see coming. Fast paced, very different then what I was expecting. Well written story.

Cabin Eight by Susan Specht Oram is the third in the Millersville series, but could be read as a stand alone. After reading both Shore Lodge and The Thieves before reading this, I do suggest that you read the other two, they are all must reads.
There is absolutely no loss of momentum with the thrills, as sometimes happens in series. The twists kept on coming just as the previous two books. The world that is built by Susan Specht Oram is one to easily get lost in. I read this book and the two previous books within a week, I couldn’t put them down.

Cabin Eight is the third and final book in The Millersville Series and is a Psychological Thriller that will have you turning the pages while on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. I truly enjoyed this book and it definitely left me with questions. This author is fairly new to me and I must say this one is my favorite yet. Her style of writing is intense and suspenseful and packed with just the right amount of action and drama. Her characters are developed and intense and relatable. The twists and turns had me tied up just when I thought I had it figured out something totally different happened. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading this series in order. You get to know the characters and you get a better understanding of what is going on. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what Miranda is up to . I look forward to seeing what this author brings us next.

When Miranda finds herself trying to deal with her emotional and tragic past she finds herself having more tragedy to deal with. In trying to “find herself and move past her past” she finds herself at a resort in Millersville for a few days.
Little did she know this was a set up and she would be turned into an experiment. In having to deal with her past and her worst fears she finds herself trapped. Being trapped she discovers a whole secret operation going on that is very ethically wrong.
Can she be brave and conquer the fears and survive? Will she be able to help those that want to get out? You must read this story that will keep you guessing as to what will be thrown in her path next!
I have quickly come to love this author and this story is one that did not disappoint in keeping me engaged and guessing! Can’t wait to read more from this author!

This book was a fast read and easy to get sucked into the story. However, you must be willing to set aside reality and the likelihood of the story actually happening. I struggled a bit with that aspect of the story. On that part, I would give the story 3 stars. But overall, it was fun to read, so I am giving it 4 stars. Miranda Diggs is the main character. She is struggling to find herself and figure out her life, especially with childhood trauma following her around. It really was a story of personal growth and learning how to not be selfish. I loved the resolution in the end!

Cabin Eight is the third and final book in the Millersville Series but also a stand alone. Like the two books that came before this one, Cabin Eight has plenty of questions, twists, and page turning suspense. While writing and burning notes, Miranda Diggs accidentally sets fire to a motel and things spiral (further) out of her control. To help Miranda get herself back where she wants to be (and avoid the media), her mother sends her to a resort. As you have probably guessed, the resort is not your typical run of the mill, sipping margeritas at the spa, type seclusion. The resort is actually testing Miranda’s fears and limits, as an experiment. This book really challenges the reader to look into their own life, and the choices we make daily, especially when it comes to social media. Of the three books in the series, this was my least favorite, as it felt very bizaar to me at times, but it is still a very good book on it’s own accord and highly recommended.

I have become a huge fan of this author and her Millersville Series….and while each book could be read as a stand-alone, I highly suggest reading this series in order and this book was so hard to put down. I was sucked in anticipating each turn of the page of what could possibly happen next.
Miranda Diggs is struggling….she is struggling with past demons that haunt her and her guilt. Miranda’s mother suggests to take a much needed break to at a motel to journal and hope to get past her memories that haunt her. When an unfortunate accident happens and Miranda sets the motel on fire……this is another situation that has her feeling weighed down by hopelessness. When an opportunity arises for Miranda to get away from it all within a cabin in the woods…Miranda checks in and is ready for some clarity to get past her guilt of the motel fire and from an accident from long ago. When Miranda ignores signs of “No Trespassing” on an old barn…then trap is set and fight for survival is real. Weird things are happening, meeting new people along the way, digging up the past as they have known Miranda and her past…..will Miranda be able to save herself as she fights through this maze of trials?
Twists, turns, facing your phobias, secrets and technology…this story had it all and I was all in on the ride. What a great book that really had me at the edge of my seat and at times I felt panicked and out of breath!!

This was such a good read. This is book 3 in The Millersville Series and these books keep getting better and better.
This story is definately not for the faint hearted. There are some hard hitting truths our main character has to come to terms with as well as uncovering a underground secret testing facility.
Miranda has had a tough time of things lately. With the passing of her friend playing constantly on her mind she has become a bit of a rebel always ignoring warning signs or rules.
The term curiosity killed the cat springs to mind with her and that becomes the situation she finds herself in after entering a barn with a no trespassing sign.
What follows is a twist and turning tale full of secrets, deceit, lies, not knowing who to trust, and facing your fears and past traumas. Miranda has to go through all of this if she has any hope of escaping the secret lab underground. Will she be able to escape? Or at the end of it will she know too much to be allowed to leave back into everyday society?

Cabin Eight (The Millersville Series Book 3) by Susan Specht Oram. I LOVE this series and each book I read I think its my favorite. This one I flew thru and didn’t want it to be over. Its a psychological thriller which is my favorite genre but this author really knows how to write! This is the story of Miranda Diggs who is a house cleaner and due to a tragic mistake she sets a fire to a motel in the mountains while working. To try to get her mind off of the tragedy she accepts an invitation to stay at a remote resort. Hoping to get her mind straight and get back to her present life and quit living in the past she arrives at the resort with a clear mind only to find her worst nightmare. While on a walk she can’t keep from investigating a old run down barn but when she gets inside the door closes behind her and locks! Trying to find her way out she encounters dead end after dead end and horror after horror. This journey will test everything Miranda has. This book will have you keeping the lights on for a while. I read this book so fast and did not want to put it down. Do yourself a favor and read this series. You won’t be disappointed.
