My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one entertaining series! I really enjoy meeting these new characters and the crazy stuff this author comes up with is gold! We met Crimson in the last book. She is a witch with bad powers. Mike is a demon…actually the devil’s advocate. So he looks good but can’t be trusted. They have an undeniable attraction but one handshake and misspoken words is going to change it all.

I wasn’t sure about entering the demon world but this author made it so interesting. I couldn’t resist smiling and reading more. Hellions Anonymous. Ingenious! For recovering demons. What a great idea!

It was a joy reading this story. I loved it! I read it fairly quickly. Hoping there is more!

4 Stars

This is the third book in the Nocturnes series and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I suggest that you read the others as well. This series is amazing and you’ll enjoy them all.

This book is about the worst witch ever, Crimson Oliver. She’s not a bad witch, she’s just bad at being a witch. Most of her spells backfire and things mostly go wrong. She’s in trouble with the coven again wishes with all her might that her powers would stop failing her. She accidentally makes a deal with the devil and now needs to find a way to save her soul.

Mike is a devil’s advocate. He fell for Crimson the first time that he saw her. Unfortunately his devil side emerged and he made a deal with her. Now he needs to find a solution because he refuses to give Crimson to the devil.

This book is fast paced and easy to read. Once again Ms. Pulkinen has created characters that you’ll love. Though making a deal with the devil is serious business, the author manages to lighten the situation with humour and lots of love. This series keeps getting better and better and I’m hoping there will be other books that follow.

4 Stars!!!!

I just loved another adventure into the supernatural New Orleans world. I found that the books just flow one to the next and you are drawn right into the created world. I just couldn’t put this book down. I just love supernatural romance.

From the last book I was just on tenter hooks to see who Crimson would fair. This book does such a great job bringing the story on. I just love how all the supes seem to start to get together and help one another through the trials and tribulations. I just love how she is able to free Mike and how they come together. I love the fact that Crimson is able to overcome the charges and how she becomes who she was meant to be. I will definitely be reading more from this author and hopefully this series.

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life’s a Witch is the 3rd book in the New Orleans Nocturnes saga by Carrie Pulkinen. I have to say, I am a huge fan of this series, they are witty, romantic and have excellent stories. In this book Crimson, the unfortunate witch from book 2, is called upon by the High Priestess of her coven to face her punishment for her wonky spell from book 2 in which she almost unwittingly started a war with the local werewolf’s. In her attempt to save herself Crimson ends up setting herself a challenge she in unsure she can win. Mike, a recovering demon, has his eye on crimson and wants to get to know her better but is he is unable to keep his demon side in check which results in a race to save them both. I really recommend this series if you like a light-hearted, paranormal romantic comedy. A really enjoyable read.

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life’s a Witch is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. Another fantastic, sexy, and funny Paranormal Romantic Comedy from Ms. Pulkinen. This series is such a fun read- I have really enjoyed my time exploring the New Orleans Nocturnes “world”. After meeting Crimson in Shift Happens (Book Two) and discovering she would get her own story in Book Three- I couldn’t wait to dive in. And I have to say, Ms. Pulkinen doesn’t disappoint! This series just seems to get better with each new instalment- and I have loved the sexy, fun, and humorous look at the New Orleans paranormal world. Even though these books are more light-hearted and sweeter than some of her other book/series- they still have plenty of excitement, dramatic developments, and intrigue to keep me spellbound. As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with witches, demons, magic, vampires, suspense, danger, and other supernatural elements- all set in mystical New Orleans.
As we discovered in book two, Crimson has a bit of glitch to her magic- every spell she casts simply goes awry. As we saw in book two- they can lead to some crazy and unexpected situations. Her latest blunder results in a summons to a Coven tribunal, where she will most likely be stripped of her powers, forever. In a fit of nerves, Crimson ends up challenging the coven’s High Priestess to a contest of magic- something she has no hope of winning… Right? This is where the story gets really interesting- and what happens next makes for a spellbinding read.
I hope this isn’t the end of the New Orleans Nocturnes stories- as I am definitely not ready to say goodbye- and there are a few characters who I would love to discover more about and need their own book/s- especially Gaston, Jasmine, and Jackson.
Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

Thank you, Ms. Pulkinen!

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen

5-Stars

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen was hilarious and romantic. I literally laughed hard for several minutes during a few scenes. This book is my favorite in this series. Crimson is a bad with, not wicked, but bad in that her power tends to misfire. She has to appear before the coven and face losing her powers. On a last ditch effort she challenges the High Priestess and is surprised when the Goddess answers her call and the challenge is planned. She has a month to figure something out. In the meantime, she meets Mike who is a recovering demon of hell. He falls head over heels for her but accidentally damns her because she jokingly says she would sale herself to the devil. His demon half responds and now they have to figure out how to save her from working for Satan and defeating the High Priestess.

I loved this book and the characters. I loved that Jane and Sophie were there to back her up. They all make an amazing group of powerful women. They are inspiring and strong. Mike was also amazing and I loved that he always found a way around his demon nature to do good. The thing with the Angel food cake and demons was hilarious. Excellent book and part of an excellent series. I highly recommend it and easily give it 5-stars.

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. It has a great mix of romance and paranormal.

Crimson is a witch but not a very good one. Every spell she does backfires badly. For this reason she is put before the witches coven who want to bind her powers and make her human.
But Crimson challenges the high witch to a challenge of power and skill. Big mistake as Crimson knows her powers are no match.

Mike is a demon living on earth. He still works for Satan collecting souls to make his monthly payments. When he meets Crimson there is an immediate attraction but wrongly choosen words by Crimson sees them sealing a deal for Satan to have her soul in return for her defeating her challenger.

So we go on an adventure trying to save Crimson’s soul and keeping the burning love between Crimson and Mike alive.

I have been thoroughly drawn in by this series, the characters and the story. Each one is brilliant. I really liked the two main characters in this one. I found that they had such a strong connection and they were so amusing.
Carrie Pulkinen is one of those authors that really surprised me. From the moment I picked up the first book of hers I was hooked and this has continued through every book I have read, including this one! This is a great series and one I would definitely recommend.

Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen was a 3 star read.
Crimson is a witch, but every time she tries to do a spell it backfires, she’s now in trouble with the witches council and the high priestess has it out for her, so she has a month to sort out her magic before she loses it.
Mike is a recovering demon but he still has to pay a debt to Satan every month, when he’s late on his debt Satan gives him the opportunity to get free and clear but can a mistake he makes be forgiven?
I really like Mike and Crimson and their interactions in this book are what kept me interested, but in all the book was for from my favourite. I would recommend you read the book for yourself and see what you think.

Shift Happens is the 2nd book in the New Orleans Nocturnes saga by Carrie Pulkinen. This romantic comedy is a fantastic read. At the end of book 1 Sophie is bitten by what she thinks is a big dog, for the professional dog walker this is a new experience for her as animals normally love her. Elsewhere in the French Quarter the werewolf pack are convinced that a witch is out to get them, they have lost one of their own and they are unable to control their shifts. As Sophie smells like a witch, and she is unregistered with the local coven, they immediately think it is her. Queue the giant handsome werewolf detective, Trace is determined to find the culprit and his friend no matter what it takes even if includes an unauthorised biting. I really enjoyed this novel, its fun and fast paced and I love the way that the author is linking them together. Looking forward to starting book 3.

Shift Happens is the second book in Carrie Pulkinen’s New Orleans Nocturnes series. I couldn’t wait to read this book after reading the first in the series and I wasn’t disappointed. You will find yourself fall in love with the heroine of this story Sophie. She’s part of a witch line but is having troubling accessing her powers. To add to that stress, she is bitten by a wolf and then is accused of crimes against the wolfs pack. Then you have Trace the hot alpha type wolf who bit Sophie, he’s just trying to find out who cursed his pack. Will Sophie clear her name before the next full moon? Can they keep their hands to themselves even with the attraction? I loved this book and can genuinely say I was laughing out loud quite a bit, just an amazing book. Sophie Burroughs is a tough as nails dog walker. She built her dog walking business in Texas then moved to the Big Easy with her best friend. She came there trying to find her witchiness, but unfortunately her powers didn’t seem to want to work. Enter the hotter than hades shifter, Trace, and the sparks begin to fly. Her life takes a big turn, thanks to Trace, but is it as bad as she wanted to believe? If you want a fun read, with lots of steam and sexiness, then this is the book for you. Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes, #2)Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shift Happens is book two of the New Orleans Nocturnes. It can definitely be read as a stand alone story, but in my opinion it’s more enjoyable if you have read book one. I like the familiarity of knowing the characters and already having the scene set for me.
Book two follows Sophie. Sophie is desperate to release her inner witch. It runs in her family, and she’s been told more than once that she has the power too.
By day Sophie is a dog walker, she loves animals and she daydreams about having a hunky werewolf boyfriend. What she didn’t dream about was being bitten by one and then accused of crimes she didn’t commit.
Wolf shifter Trace bites Sophie, she’s the main suspect when a member of his pack goes missing and he needs to keep tabs on her.
The chemistry between Sophie and Trace grows, and when they finally hook up it’s all pretty hot! But they still have a mystery to solve and a pack member to hunt down.
Shift Happens is a funny, steamy, paranormal romance. It’s much more light hearted than similar stories in this genre making it an enjoyable and easy read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. Sophie Burroughs desperately wants to be a witch like her grandmother was. She tries so hard to cast spells but just can’t. Sophie jokes with her friend that maybe she should try a spell naked, which I found hilarious. All other supes swears she smells like a witch, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening for her. When Trace Thibodeaux, a werewolf, bites Sophie she has to prove her innocence against his pack to save herself from becoming a werewolf. Trace is trying to prove that Sophie is the one who cursed his pack, but romance starts to get in the way. This book was full of humor and romance, just the perfect blend to make a wonderful story.

This is book 2 in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. This follows Janes best friend Sophie.

Sophie is a witch, or so she is lead to believe however she has no magical powers. One night at a party she is bite by what she thinks is a dog. However things arent as they seem.

Trace is part of a werewolf pack and he has been given the task to find the witch responsible for his missing pack member and for causing the rest of the pack to shift at random moments.
All evidence points to a unregistered witch and that leads him to Sophie. However things get complicated not only by the fact he bit her but also by the fact of their strong connection.

Can they work together to solve this mystery? Can they be together or will accusations force them apart.

Its a great adventure from the first page.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes, #2)Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carrie Pulkinen has done it again! I thought Book one in the New Orleans Nocturnes Licence to Bite was a brilliant book, but Shift Happens, well… I really really enjoyed this one!

While these books can be read as stand-alone but believe me when I say that would be a huge mistake!
This book is brilliant from the very beginning, it has humour, romance, sexiness, werewolves, magic & witches. It has drama, action, passion & mystery! Seriously there are too many good things to say about this book without having to tell you the whole captivating story and giving it all away!

I loved that we were transported into this world of New Orleans, I felt like I was learning along with Sophie about the paranormal world she finds herself in. I loved that Jane was still a major part of Sophie’s life even after what has gone on with her life, but both of them still make sure they are there for each other!

Now Sophie’s chemistry with Trace is beyond a doubt undeniable from the very beginning and I loved watching it grow, even when everything could be put on the line for Trace he still continued to follow his heart and with that, it helped Sophie make probably the biggest decision of her life! These characters were real (even for being supernatural) they had real and raw emotions and knew what they wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it!

I can’t wait to see how their story continues but after meeting Crimson in this read I also can’t wait to follow her story.

I highly recommend this read and Book #1 you will definitely not regret it!

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes, #2)Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another fun paranormal romantic comedy in Carrie Pulkinen’s ‘New Orleans Nocturnes’ series. It can be read as a standalone story although some of the characters are mentioned in previous books. The blurb states, “If you like funny heroines and smoldering shifters, you’ll love this fast, steamy romantic comedy” and I was not disappointed as that is exactly what I got. Sophie Burroughs is determined to be a witch like her Grandmother was but cannot actually cast a spell. What she didn’t want was to become a werewolf but having been bitten by a very handsome one she has until the next full moon to stop becoming one herself. To make things more complicated the sexy werewolf who bit her is also accusing her of crimes against his pack which she also has until the full moon to prove she’s innocent of the crime. Meanwhile Werewolf Trace Thibodeaux didn’t mean to bite Sophie but she is the prime suspect for putting a curse on his pack. He is determined to stop the curse and the witch who cast the spell, but didn’t factor in the sassy witch who he’s bitten and the steamy chemistry between them, but can he literally get into bed with the enemy. This novel has a very funny romantic storyline which flows nicely and has some fascinating characters and lots of steamy chemistry between the main characters Sophie and Trace. I look forward to book three in the series.

This was just another great journey into the supernatural world of New Orleans. I was warped into the adventure and I just could not put this book down. I really like how the books just really flow from one to the other and continue the story seamlessly.

The electrifying chemistry between Sophie and Trace is just so addicting. I just love how there is an air of forbidden but then as the saying goes truth will out and all things fall into place. I love how the characters really come to life and how I felt as though I was there in the story. I really related to Sophie as we are all searching for a place to belong and fit in. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and series as one of my absolute favourite genres is supernatural romance.

I give Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

What I like so much about this series is it’s unpredictability. Sure it’s a paranormal romance with humor and some suspense involved and there has been plenty fof that. But the author throws in things that you don’t see in this genre and makes you stop and think. This is exciting to me. Not to mention how good the book is in and of itself. The characters are well done and you really feel for each of them. You root for them the whole time. You think the story is headed in one direction, but then it makes a quick left and you are stunned, but have to see where it leads.

It is fun, quirky, and sexy all in one. If you like your paranormal romance with fun, sexiness and hot characters, this book is for you. It can be read as a standalone in my opinion, but I recommend book one too since it is so good.

Shift Happens is the second book in Carrie Pulkinen’s New Orleans Nocturnes series and this time we are hanging out with witches and werewolves! You can read it as a standalone but why would you not start with book one if you love New Orleans and paranormal romantic comedy AND the heroine is Shift Happens heroine’s friend!
Shift Happens picks up where License to Bite left off. Jane’s friend Sophie is in trouble and she is not very competent as a witch. She gets accidentally bitten by Trace Thibodeaux, a smoking hot werewolf who is investigating Sophie as his pack has been cursed and guess who is the suspect … right, Sophie …
I promise you that you will laugh a lot – Sophie has a mouth on her and she lets it fly! Trace is an alpha and hot as sin and their chemistry is through the roof! I would not mind being investigated by Trace either if this is how he does it!
Shift Happens is a quick read that leaves you reaching for the next one in the series!

What will happen when a demon named Mike makes a deal that could change everything for Crimson? By Carrie Pulkinen
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen. It is the next story in a series that I have loved since the first book. The story pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Crimson Oliver and Mike Cortez. Crimson is a witch whose spells always go wrong. She finds herself threatened with the binding of her powers, she will then be only human. She decides to challenge the priestess to a battle of magic. Does she stand a chance at winning? Mike is a demon who has his eye on Crimson. He is attracted to her. He also accidentally makes a deal that will send her to the underworld, to be a servant for all eternity. What does the future hold for Mike and Crimson? Can Crimson’s soul be saved? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has hilarious moments that made me laugh. There are also romantic moments as well. Both the characters of Crimson and Mike are likable, and I grew to care about what happens to them with each chapter that I read. I also love that the characters from the first two books make their appearance in this story and interact with Mike and Crimson. I love paranormal stories and this book is a good example of the reason why. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that will hook you in and won’t let you go. I highly recommend it.

Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. These are fun, paranormal romantic stories that will keep you laughing. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order because characters carry over from story to story. Sophie is a struggling witch who cannot seem to come into her powers, her best friend has become a vampire, and all she wants is some time to get to know a handsome werewolf intimately. What could go wrong?
Of course, nothing is easy for Sophie but she finds her forever family and all works out in the end. Sophie is a funny character full of sass. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Trace is the sexy werewolf and he finds Sophie is more than a quick escapade for him. This book is a quick read but great while stuck at home. It had me laughing a lot and was light and delightful. I look forward to reading more in this series.
