A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Moriah Venable

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #4)A Deal with Death by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Deal With Death is the fourth novel in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is my fourth novel by this author.

Odette Allemand is a woman who doesn’t fear death since she practices Voodoo. She also gets reincarnated after she dies whenever she meets her soulmate. Not wanting to die this time, she is sure she can beat the cycle.

James Malveaux is werewolf who hasn’t seen Odette in years but once the two meet again, his wolf wants to claim her as his mate.

Can the two change fate and have a happy life together?

This is my favorite of the series so far. The premise was different than anything I’ve read before and the romance between the two felt refreshing and different because of that.

I loved the main character’s name because it was unique and it made me think of the Swan Princess movie.

I hope there is another novel in this series soon.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #4)A Deal with Death by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal/fantasy romance. This novel follows in the series closely with the previous books, but could be read separately. I do highly recommend that the books be read in order so that you get a full understanding in the depth this series provides and additional background on some of the characters that appear throughout the series.

In A Deal with Death spirits and shifters are the focus; the story line is high speed and exciting from beginning to end. Carrie Pulkinen had me sitting on the edge of my seat practically biting my nails as I crested page after page to see what fates were about to be unfolded next in this book. Odette and James are magnificent in this story and I loved how they were each missing something, but were drawn towards one another regardless. This author is highly talented and a great story teller!

A Deal with Death is the fourth book in this series and it was fantastic. From the very first page I was drawn in and didn’t wanna put it down. This was a fast paced shifter romance and the characters are great! Odette and James are the types of characters that just stick with you and you just can’t help but love. I am looking forward to meeting more by this author and I would recommend to a friend.

Yet again another book that hooked me and reeled me in . I really find that I enjoy this series and find the author’s writing style to be quite refreshing. I found that the characters just jump right off of the pages. There was also a well balanced world of the supernatural and everyday life. I really enjoyed how the author brought in the world of Voodoo and built the story around it.

I really found Odette to be quite the character. I liked how the author was able to build the story around her past and how all the characters fit into it. I felt that the chemistry between Odette and James really added to the drama that unfolds around them. The author has such a creative style and brings the whole world she is writing about come to life. I could feel the spirits as Odette tried to help them. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

This is another amazing shifter romance by Ms. Pulkinen. It is part four in the Crescent City Wolf Pack Series but you can read it as a stand-alone. The story is filled with love, death and voodoo. Odette Allemand is a voodoo practitioner who’s Met Tet is the god of death. Unfortunately she’s been on his bad side for the past few years. She’s stuck in a cycle of rebirth and violent death and vows to never fall in love again. James walks into her life and throws a wrench in her plans. Now she must beg forgiveness from the god of death if she wants to survive this life.

This is a story that will hook you in from the start and not let you go until the end. With mystery, danger and suspense, you will not be able to read fast enough to see what happens. I loved the book and found it to be original and engaging. I hope there will be a part five.

By: Carrie Pulkinen
My Rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack #4) by Carrie Pulkinen was an engaging, original read that had me hooked.

I have been waiting for this book, and I’m all in a good feels place cause the wait is over, but I’m sad at the same time cause I want more books from this series like yesterday.

This series has been by far my favourite of the year, and I can’t get enough of this world that Carrie Pulkiene has created. This book opens with a dark bang, and it sets the stage for the crazy good to come. I love how there’s always a mystery, and how the female MC’s are always kickass and brilliant. Sure they have their hot alpha male werewolf, but they’re no push over, and this book is no different with Odette. I loved her, and I think she’s probably my favourite MC so far. Sure sure, James is great too, but Odette, she was just outstanding, and I have a major girl crush.

Overall this book was quite the read, it was as I said, fresh, original and just one of those wow reads that gets your blood flowing. The detail was on point, the plot solid, and the dark themes helped keep your mind engaged. There was enough romance to break it up, and keep it light while not overpowering the characters.

To end, this book this series is a must read, and it gets my super high recommedantion and my golden stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

A Deal with Death is the fourth book in Carrie Pulkinen’s Crescent City Wolf Pack series. This book is honestly phenomenal, I’ve read every book of the series and have loved them all.

This story is intense, action-packed, suspenseful and thrilling, I was intrigued from the very beginning and like always with this author’s work I was able to read it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I just had to get answers to all my questions and fortunately this author did not disappoint.

Though this book can be read as a standalone I would recommend the whole series, this is one that you won’t want to miss!!!

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack, #4)A Deal with Death by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While I enjoyed this story it was a little out of my realm. There was a lot of voodoo talk, Ghosts and going back Into the past. This does focus on the relationship between James and Odette. I really liked James in previous books and while he didn’t disappoint he didn’t raise any higher either. Odette is into voodoo and after a childhood accident she doesn’t practice as much as she used to. She has tight control on herself and has become very stodgy. James wants to break that control but something else is in the mix. Can they survive what is coming?

This is my fourth book in the series. Each one is different and it’s Not Necessary to have read them first. Again the story was a little off for me…I did learn a lot about Voodoo practices and guardians but to me it seemed to stray away from the werewolf packs. The characters seems nice and strong but I didn’t love them like I was expecting too. Was I on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen? Yes I was but it didn’t seem enough. Sorry this one just fell short for me.

This book has got to be my absolute favourite one so far. I was drawn into the story and the characters immediately. I felt such a connection to Odette. I couldn’t honestly say what it is about her I like so much I just did.
The whole story was excellent as well. I thought it was unique and interesting. It easily kept my attention the whole way through – to be honest I could not put this book down. I read the whole thing in one sitting and wanted more when it ended. This whole series has been a fantastic read and this one just excels. The story A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is an awesome and amazing book to read. It pulled me in right from the start and didn’t let me go until I had finished the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Odette Allemand and James Malveaux. Odette is a smart, strong, independent, and beautiful woman. The only problem is that every time she meets her soulmate things end horrifically. Then she meets James. James is a werewolf who feels that he is broken. He remembers Odette from back in school. He is finding that his wolf wants to claim her as his mate. There is a deep attraction between these two. There seems to be a connection between them and there are sparks when they are together. Are Odette and James destined to go through an ending that never seems to change? What does their future hold? Read this book to find out. This story creates an atmosphere of suspense that had me turning pages to find out what is going to happen next. I got caught up in the romance and the emotions of the characters. I grew to care about Odette and James with each chapter that I read, and I couldn’t help but want things to work out for them. I enjoyed the bantering and interactions between them. The author has created a story that you won’t want to put down with unforgettable characters that come alive. I highly recommend reading this book.

A Deal with Death (Crescent City Wolf Pack Book 4) by Carrie Pulkinen is another exciting book in this series. It is a paranormal story that encompasses wolves and voodoo and is set in New Orleans and can definitely be read as a standalone but I know you will enjoy the other books in the series just as much. It was one intriguing and interesting read especially learning more about voodoo and it’s craft and religion. Add in werewolves and demons, death and fear, possession and spirits and you have yourself one addicting story.

Odette has always been a child of death but she has pushed aside her teachings and faith after one awful night when her life changed forever. Now she is in a race against time to stop a cycle what always ends with her death.

James has just found his dream renovation and the girl that held his interest in school. What he finds along the way is his mate but unless he can break the cycle in time he is facing certain death.

I look forward to more.

Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

This story was a good short read. I’m not usually into ghosts but this one was good. I felt that Sean made the story more intriguing. His acceptance for what others didn’t believe earned him points. He never forced his opinion on anyone. Now Emily tested my patience. Have you ever had a character rub you wrong from the beginning? That’s what she did to me. Her character just didn’t seem like she wanted to grow. That change was the worse possible thing. I did however enjoy the darker side to the story. That you could believe in something so much that it could take you over. It was scary and exciting. The author definitely grabs your attention with the after life.

A great read about trying to live life. Emily has been struggling to move on after the death of her sister. She goes to a masquerade ball with a friend and tries to enjoy herself and ends up dancing with a mystery man. Serendipity keeps making them bump into eachother, but problems arise when she finds out he runs a local ghost tour. Can she out her fear of ghosts behind her for a shot at happiness?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Emily stubborn but kind hearted underneath or Sean stuck between love of his profession and love of Emily. Great cast of supporting characters like Trish as the fun friend or Madeline as the kind and meddling mother.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the ballroom with the bright chandeliers and spacious rooms full of life and people. Or the bright colours of the costumes in bold reds or dark blacks or magical purples wonderfully written. Or the garden with its tall trees and shimmering fountain for that sense of peace away from the busy world. Or the bright colourful butterfly small and colourful and beautiful to repreeent reincarnation from Japanese mythology as a nice touch
The mix of fantasy of ghosts and realism of the clinic care hospital combined perfectly to mske for a captivating read. The mystery of the box was perfectly written, making you want to read on to find out what’s inside. The switch of narratives between Emily and Sean was well written and easy to follow with names at the start of the sections. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Love and Ghosts
By Carrie Pulkinen
Rated 5 stars

I loved this! I really enjoyed this easy to read story. The whole romance is amazingly sweet and very romantic. Sean was an quandary to me. He seemed so normal (and amazing) but there is that pesky “I see dead people” issue. That would be a huge pill to swallow and keep down. Although I was intrigued by that side of him. His past issues and how easy he accepted it. I loved his temperament through the story.

I have never been a fan of ghost books. Oh i loves to tell ghost stories but never in with a romance. This is one that i could easily read again and again. It didn’t insert the whole ghost theme as a romantic partner but as a secondary level. I liked that. I will think a little differently about getting a “chill” in the room now though. The whole ghost part was interesting to me. I would be curious how much is true and I wonder if a trip to the French Quarter should be in my future.

This is a smooth story that sparks your tummy flutters as well as firing your suspicion. It has heart and me smile! Another wonderful story by Carrie Pulkinen

I give Love and Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

Leading a pretty dull life lately, Emily takes her best friend up on a dare — to kiss a guy at the charity ball they are both attending. She finds the perfect masked stranger and decides to go for it. Besides, it’s not like she will ever see him again, right? Sean communicates with ghosts and runs a haunted tour company in the heart of New Orleans. When the gorgeous mystery women kisses him at the ball, he tries desperately to get more information from her. Will he ever see her again?
Fates seem to throw them together, but she does not believe in ghosts or want anything to do with them. But supernatural forces may think otherwise. Can Sean help Emily solve the puzzle as to what is going on? Can he get her to believe in what he does or are they destined to be alone?

I really enjoyed this book and it promises to be a great, exciting series. Sean was actually my favorite character in this book, mostly because he can communicate with ghosts. I would love to see more of him using his abilities in future books. All of the characters are great though — they feel very real. And the story itself is good too. It was unlike what I was expecting and that is a good thing. I like to be surprised by what I’m reading.

If you like your romance with suspense and a supernatural twist, this book is for you.

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #1) by Carrie Pulkinen was an entertaining, hooking read, that had me reading into the night.

Not my first read by this author, so I was super excited to get my hands on this book. I was not disappointed, rich with detail, mystery, paranormal, and a serendipitous moment, and you have one of the best mixes for a compelling read, that just sucks you in, and hooks you until the last page.

I loved the MC’s, Emily and Sean were both interesting, realistic, and they just seemed to jump off the pages at you. I loved their meeting, their interactions and how they both build each other back up. Both were strong, and that not only enriched the story, it really rounded out the plot, and believability.

Overall this book is a must read, and I can’t stress enough how much I loved and enjoyed it. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will fall hard for this second chance, paranormal romance, that will have you believing in more than just ghost.

Yowzers! This was one heck of a good book! I absolutely needed this too! Such a refreshing breath of newness to the slow burn love story. Okay so this is a tad of a ghost story too but really I was taken with the beautiful detailed and captivating love that develops between Emily and Sean. From the moment Emily kisses that stranger at the Masked Charity Ball (Sean) everything changes. She doesn’t believe in that ghost stuff and there is no such thing as supernatural in her world, but she finds herself on a ghost tour anyway, and face to face with Sean again. Then there is the mysterious box that shows up on her doorstep with evil powers. Sean could be the only one to convince her that ghosts and the supernatural are real and that they could be in some very serious danger.

It isn’t your typical read and I was totally sucked in from the very first moment until the bittersweet last page. My only solace is that there will be more books to come in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series from the fabulous Carrie Pulkinen. I can only hope it won’t be too long of a wait. I know I will be checking out all of her previously released writing in the meantime as well. Thanks for the wonderful read Ms. Pulkinen!

I adored Sean’s character. The author knocked it out of the park with his character development and personality. I was drawn to him throughout the story and he pulled me through the story. Emily comes across as his opposite in the story, but the way it was shared made them tie together perfectly. The back and forth dynamic was amazingly done. What a great book. I was hooked from the beginning, and not knowing what the book was about as i went in blind (have you seen the cover!), I could only assume what some of the story would be about.
Sean is a medium and runs a ghost tour company. When he meets Emily at a masquerade, he’s never felt that pull before but she isn’t looking for more than fulfilling her dare to kiss a man that evening.
As the story goes on, things start to progress but big hurdles must be overcome to continue. I didn’t see some of the things happening in this coming so it was refreshing to not be predictable.

The story Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance book that I loved reading. It pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until I had read the final page. It is a story that has a wonderful storyline and amazing characters. I loved reading about the characters of Emily Rollins and Sean LeBlanc. Emily is a woman who is strong and independent. She doesn’t believe in the supernatural or ghosts. She is someone who is trying to start over and move on with her life. Then she meets Sean. Sean LeBlanc is a medium. He owns his own haunted tour company. Since he first kissed Emily he can’t stop thinking about her. There is a chemistry and attraction between them. If only he can get Emily to accept the existence of ghosts. What does the future hold for Emily and Sean? When Emily receives a strange box can Sean convince her of the danger? Read this book to find out what happens. I love that this story takes place in New Orleans. I also loved that the story has an atmosphere that is both romantic and sultry. There is bantering that goes back and forth between Sean and Emily and scenes that are swoon worthy. Steamy scenes included in this book. There are additional characters that I enjoyed reading about their part in the story and their interactions with Sean and Emily. This is a wonderful story that you won’t be able to put down. There were brief times I wanted to shake Emily but overall the characters were loveable and the slow burn between the main characters was sweet and sexy. I believe this is the first book I’ve read by the author and it won’t be my last. The writing is well plotted, the characters well defined and memorable and the cadence lent an easy pacing while reading.

I wasn’t 100% sure if this was going to be a horror story filled with darkness or something a little lighter. It IS on the lighter side with a bit of suspense, a wonderful romance, great friendships and some really quirky individuals thrown into the mix.

I read every word in this book from cover to cover in one sitting. The writing was detailed enough that i was able to visualize each scene. It was the perfect balance of description and brevity that moves the story along.

There are a couple of open door sex scenes and if i were recommending to an elderly friend’s book club, I would let them know I skipped “those parts” hehehe.

I absolutely recommend this book.

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1)Love & Ghosts by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love and Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours) by Carrie Pulkinen is a brilliant book that you will just have to devour in one sitting.
This whole book have been done perfectly. The characters are strong and interesting. They have a depth to them that just draws the reader in to their story and instantly connects you with them. They are the absolute backbone of this story, which is gripping in its own right.
And while the book has so much too it I also found it to be fun and entertaining. It brought all elements together so well and created something that was so so good to read.
I have read books by this author before so I did know what to expect however this book definitely surpassed all expectations. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Series Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Angela Hayes

Love & Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1)Love & Ghosts by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & Ghosts is the first book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series by Carrie Pulkinen. The first book in her exciting new series, and I was thrilled to get my hands on it. I devoured it the very moment it landed in my kindle, hooked from the very first page, reading it all in one spellbinding sitting. It is a fantastic paranormal romance- with ghosts, second chances, new beginnings, grief, loss, supernatural elements, Voodoo, mystery, suspense, action, danger, drama, obsession, and plenty of sizzle….. set against the vibrant, colourful and mystical backdrop that is New Orleans.
The characters are quirky individuals who really made this story come alive. They were really interesting and very well developed. I loved Sean and Emily, and was cheering them on right from the get-go! There was a lot more to them, and the story, than meets the eye, that’s for sure!
The story is quite intense at times, and superbly suspenseful- with a real ‘mystery’ to try to unravel. There are funny moment- with witty quips/banter that made me smile- lots of emotion, and a wonderful romance, too.
I have developed a severe addiction to Ms. Pulkinen’s work- one that I am more than happy to indulge- no rehab needed!
I can’t wait to see what book two has in store for us!

Thank you, Ms. Pulkinen!
