Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms #2) – Review by Chantelle Smith

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms)Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragon kind ~ 52 Realms #2) is action-packed suspenseful romance read from author Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to experience what else she has to offer with her other books. For one thing, let us just appreciate how unique, beautiful & powerful this front cover is….! WOW!!!

This was such an imaginative read, that totally captivates you from the start. It’s one of those reads that as your reading it, you can mentally picture everything, it makes you even more connected to this story as your reading it which then makes you feel as though you are there alongside the characters following their journey with them.
This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with both our characters Casstiel & Ashara with their past and their pain flowing through the pages. You are thrown twists and turns throughout that keep you wanting more, where you continue to try and figure out what will happen next but this author has created this storyline in such a way it’s not easy to figure out.

I absolutely loved how much of the fantasy theme was weaved throughout this read, with different places/realms and languages throughout, all the different types of beings we learn as well of this world as we follow Casstiel and Ashara story.
Each character in this story has many things that determine how they live their life now, and with the introduction of each other in their lives – will their connection grow stronger? Or is their past still holding them back from getting a HEA?

Can we also point out the secondary characters in this read, they help make this book get greater depth and help our main characters tell their stories even more.

This is a brilliant captivating and a beautifully imaginative book that should not be missed for all fans or Fantasy, Shifters and Romance.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean was a heart pounding, feels gripping read that had me hooked from start to finish.

My first read by this author and for this series. I am in love. This has probably been one of the best dragon shifter books I have read this year! I will say that I was a little confused at first, as this book is the second in this series, and picks up pretty much where the last left off. That being said, it was so well written that I was sucked in, just captured by the story. That opening, setting the stage for Casstiel, letting us not only see his pain, but has us experience it. That alone lets you know this isn’t going to be your typical love story. And now I need to read the book before, so I can get more of the story.

This book is full of those dreaded feels that makes you want to either slap the MC’s or hug them. Told in multi POV you get to see it from all angles and, get to see what they themselves had missed. The world building is outstanding, the info was giving at the right times, the detail was so on point I felt like I was standing with them, and watching first hand. That is what I love about reading, it takes you to all the places you didn’t know you’ve dreamed of.

I have nothing bad to say about this book, from the easy writing style, to the well built, well rounded characters, that had more character development then I thought possible, to the mystery that surrounds Casstiel and Ashara, this is a must read. That is why it gets my ultimate recommendation and my super stamp of approval. You will not be disappointment!

Happy Reading

I didn’t realize that this book was part of a series. I was a little confused in the beginning but after a few pages, I was up to speed on what was going on. I actually chose the book because of the cover but I’m glad I did. The author wrote a spellbinding novel of a fantastic world filled with dragons. The more I read, the more I wanted to learn about this world.

When Casstiel’s mate dies, he should have entered the afterlife with her yet he stayed tethered to the world. He stopped living. Hell bent on destroying the one he was bound to, he searched ten years to find her. Yet when he finds her, he never expected to be attracted and protective of her. Feeling as if he is betraying his mate, war rages within him as he fights his feelings for Ashara.

Ashara is such a wonderful and complex character. Raised as a slave and breeding machine for the Ilium, she should have been a broken mess. She rose from the ashes of despair, never losing herself and is one of the strongest characters in the book. I admire her gentleness and selflessness.

This book is a dragon shifter romance yet it is so much more. It is a story of love, loss and heartache. The characters go through so much that it will have your emotions in a whirlwind. The story is detailed and descriptive, bringing the world alive. I think the book is definitely worth the read and I will be looking forward to more books from this author.

Casstiel; Born of Lightening: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind – 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean – Review by Moriah Venable

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms)Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Casstiel is the second book in the DragonKind~ 52 Realms series by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is my first novel by this author.

Nine years after his mate Maya is killed, Casstiel is still walking the Earth but filled with anger wishing to join his mate. He seems oblivion but it eludes him.

“I’m dying, yet I live without you.”

His main focus now is to destroy enemy and find whatever he is searching for.

“No, he’d not stop until they were all burned to ash and scattered to Tartaria’s four corners. Or, until he found what he was looking for.”

What Cass leases expects is the what he is searching for is not a thing but a person and this person is not only his enemy but she is also what is tying him here. She may very well be able to bring him back from himself.

I love paranormal romances with it being one of my favorite genres. I do not read dragon shifters very much but I really enjoyed this.

I love when males find love again after losing a mate and being able to move forward instead of being stuck in the depression and finding someone that help them move forward.

I will have to read more by this author as well as more dragon shifter novels.

I enjoy dragon stories very much. This is book 2 in a series and I was a little lost at times trying to follow the family tree as the story is being told. I had to muddle through the lines to figure out who was who in this large family. Once I was able to work it all out, I settled in to a decent read.

The two main characters in this book are so similar yet so different. Each ignore their base needs because they think their destiny is elsewhere. The male protagonist is kind of a jerk. The female protagonist is stronger than she even realizes and it was interesting to see the two co-mingle and work out their skeletons.

This is a very visually appealing story. At times I felt myself flying through the air and looking at the ground below just like the characters. The world building is interesting and I can see how this series can continue on for many books to come.

If you are a fan of this style fiction, I would absolutely recommend this book.

Casstiel was a good 4 star read.
This is my first read from Sheri-Lynn Marean and I was pleasantly surprised. This isn’t a genre that I usually read but Casstiel and Ashara pulled me right in with their story.

Casstiel lost his mate 10 years ago and before she died she severed their bond so he couldn’t follow her. Heartbroken and not understanding why, he goes through several stages of anger. He has also discovered that he is connected to another person and until that connection is severed he won’t be able to join his mate. Who could it be and why? Casstiel gets a shock when the person he’s been searching for walks into his life in a very unexpected time.

Ashara was held captive by the enemy several years, she was treated horribly and was kept as a breeder. She had several children that were taken from her. She is also a dragon shifter but has hidden it for years. Casstiel welcomes Ashara into his home and as they get to know each other their connection grows stronger.

Can Casstiel finally get what he’s wanted for years” Or will his connection to Ashara take over?

There is so much more to this story. My emotions were all over the place. The secondary characters were great. Casstiel’s daughter eventually grew on me, she was a little testy in the beginning. I really liked how Casstiel helped Ashara shift into her dragon and work with her. Even though he was a testy hot alpha male he still had a pretty big heart also. I was happy with the ending and I look forward to reading more from these characters.

This was an absolutely amazing read! I am quite new to this type of genre and I wasn’t sure if I would like it but oh my gosh I did! I loved every second that I read. I was hooked from the very first page until the end. The author took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The story was full of love, loss, action, drama, heartache and so much more. The story was so well written, the pace and flow were excellent and the glossary at the beginning was a great addition to the story – it meant I wasn’t guessing the meanings of some of the words. I really liked Casstiel and the journey he went on to find his true love after she was murdered. There were some really good twists in the story too which made it even more exciting to read and I liked that I didn’t see them coming! Ashara was a good character too and I did feel for her a little. I enjoyed reading about the journey that Casstiel and Ashara went on together.
I thought this story really was a great read; the author descriptive language almost brought the story to life! I absolutely recommend this story – it was a brilliant 5 star read!

Four Stars

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter is a book two from the world of Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This paranormal dragon shifter story is the first book I have read by Ms. Merean, but definitely won’t be the last. This story was full of magic, wonderful characters and emotions that will keep you reading well into the night (and believe me it is worth the loss of sleep).
This is the story of Casstiel and Ashara. Casstiel is a Dragon Shifter who lost his mate, but is not able to follow her into the ever after because some kind of tether is holding him back. Ashara is held almost captive to be a baby maker, but never gets to raise her children. She is holding on to the only thing in life that keeps her life worth living, the invisible bound she has with Casstiel.
If you like paranormal this is definitely going to be a great choice for you. I can’t wait to go back and read the first book in this series.

Casstiel: Born of Lightning (Dragonkind~52 realms) written by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is Casstiels story and with it comes loss, heartache, lust and forgiveness. I was surprised at the sexual scenes in this story, I didn’t see them coming but they were pretty good. Skye was an interesting character as Casstiels daughter, shes strong willed, stubborn and realized when she messed up that she needed to fix it. Casstiel is angry, lonely and lost until Ashara comes into his life and now he’s fighting so many more emotions and feelings. How do you move on when your soul mate dies, leaving you and your children behind? This story is how you move on. I couldn’t put this book down and ended up reading it in one sitting, it hooked me right away and kept me on an emotional roller coaster ride to the end.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) is a paranormal romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean. Upon starting this novel, I quickly found it wasn’t just a simple paranormal romance, but much more. Interwoven in this story is suspense and drama, as well as, some of those paranormal aspects we see as a signature item in soul mate romances. This story can be read as a standalone, but I felt that there were some items I would have understood and followed more easily if I had read the novel prior to this one within the series. The story is highly creative pushing imagination to the edges of reality and tipping slightly over. The chemistry and character interactions were well written driving a captivating storyline for the main characters.

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms Series Book #2) by Sheri-Lynn Marean – Review by Angela Hayes

“Without a mate, all dragonkind males started to lose their souls. Then their humanity went, leaving them angry, fire-breathing, killing machines.
Cass’s heart squeezed in his chest. Maya had hurt him more than he could have ever imagined when she severed their bond so that he wouldn’t follow her. Even worse was the feeling that he hadn’t been enough for her. That no matter his love, she obviously hadn’t felt the same.”

Casstiel is a dragon shifter romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This paranormal/fantasy took me on a journey full of love, loss, heartache, emotion, magic, revenge, pain, grief, redemption, action, adventure, and drama. The story is told from several perspectives, which gave an in-depth ‘look’ at what had/was happening. I like that the author provides a glossary at the beginning of the book, to help with all the names- it was handy and informative. There were a lot of characters and realms to get my head around, so the glossary really helped.
Casstiel lost his beloved mate 10 years earlier and he’s been wracked by grief and anger ever since. When she died, killed by their enemy, she severed their bond, so Casstiel couldn’t follow her. He was SUPPOSED to be with her now and he can’t understand why she did what she did. It torments him every day! He isn’t truly living, stuck in the past and unable to move forward. His anger and hatred consume him and his family and friends worry about his state of mind. Something or someone is tether him to the world, and he wants to find them so he can sever the connection. When he finally finds the one responsible for tethering him, she is definitely not what he was expecting. He feels drawn to her and incredibly protective. Now the story gets really interesting!

“I’m so bloody tired of all this. For so long, he’d dreamed of finding the one holding him to life. He’d plotted his revenge, imagining what he was going to do once he finally found her. He would make her pay, make her hurt, just like he hurt. Then he’d break their connection and send her to hell.
It had been all that kept him alive for the last ten years.
But now that he’d met her, he couldn’t do it. No matter what he wanted to believe, she wasn’t some evil sorceress and she looked like she could be blown over by a stiff breeze.”

Ashara Hasn’t had an easy life. She’d been taken from her parents as a small child and forced into slavery. Then when she grew up she was forced to become a ‘breeder’ for the Illium (the enemy). She is a half-breed fire born dragon, but has never known what it’s like to shift into her dragon. She too feels tethered to someone, and the connection has brought her comfort. When she discovers the source of her connection, she’s a little shocked and frightened. Ashara and Cass have endured great loss and carry a lot of pain. These two embark on journey of discovery, filled with passion and pain- and we get to follow along as everything unfolds!
The story is descriptive and detailed, bringing the whole story to ‘life’. Ms. Marean has wonderful world building skills, making her story quite ‘real’ and believable. I really enjoyed exploring her world and look forward to more adventures in the future.

Thank you, Ms. Marean!
