Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean is a paranormal fantasy romance story that you will find yourself getting lost in. Page after page will keep turning until you know what is going on and before you know it you are at the end of the story because you were so immersed in it. There are a lot of conflicting emotions for our hero in this story, loss and fear, sorrow and desire, conflict and hope, passion and guilt just to name a few. Sheri-Lynn describes the characters and the world in vivid telling which makes you see all that she describes. The story is well written and engaging and one that I recommend reading. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragon kind ~ 52 Realms #2) is action-packed suspenseful romance read from author Sheri-Lynn Marean. This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to experience what else she has to offer with her other books. For one thing, let us just appreciate how unique, beautiful & powerful this front cover is….! WOW!!!
This was such an imaginative read, that totally captivates you from the start. It’s one of those reads that as your reading it, you can mentally picture everything, it makes you even more connected to this story as your reading it which then makes you feel as though you are there alongside the characters following their journey with them. This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with both our characters Casstiel & Ashara with their past and their pain flowing through the pages. You are thrown twists and turns throughout that keep you wanting more, where you continue to try and figure out what will happen next but this author has created this storyline in such a way it’s not easy to figure out.
I absolutely loved how much of the fantasy theme was weaved throughout this read, with different places/realms and languages throughout, all the different types of beings we learn as well of this world as we follow Casstiel and Ashara story. Each character in this story has many things that determine how they live their life now, and with the introduction of each other in their lives – will their connection grow stronger? Or is their past still holding them back from getting a HEA?
Can we also point out the secondary characters in this read, they help make this book get greater depth and help our main characters tell their stories even more.
This is a brilliant captivating and a beautifully imaginative book that should not be missed for all fans or Fantasy, Shifters and Romance.

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean 5 out of 5 stars Castiel; Born of Lightning is the second book in the Dragonkind 52 Realms written by Sheri-Lynn Maren and it’s the first book that I have read by this author and it surely won’t be the last. The characters and amazing and the way they play off each other is great. I loved the storyline and even though this is a paranormal book I could picture my self in the story. The scenery was described perfectly and believable. As a bonded dragon shifter, Casstiel should have joined his soul mate in the afterlife when she was murdered. He did not. Fate changed the rules and tethered him to another female a druid witch. The enemy, or is she? Casstiel has lived in a haze of fury for ten long years as he searches for the source of the hated connection. Only when they finally cross paths, he’s faced with a horrifying truth and finds himself protective and fiercely attracted to her. Even worse, she makes him question what it is he really wants. Ashara is half human and half fire-born she has never soared the skies or shifted into her dragon. Instead, she’s been held captive as a breeder for the Ilyium, heart breaking more each time they take a child from her. Her only solace has been a connection to another that’s always kept her sane and warm in a cold, harsh life. When Asahra’s suddenly freed and confronted with her source of comfort; a large, sexy male who scares the hell out of her and wants her to release him, she is at a loss. As her heart awakens to a love she never dreamed possible, Ashara struggles to find her place in this new life, unsure of her desires, until a shocking discovery changes everything and may not be what anyone wants. Will Ashara cut the cord that ties her to Castiel or will she fight for him? Will Castiel recognize Ashara for what she really is to him? I really enjoyed this book and I hope to see a few of the characters in this authors next book….. Tracy
A great read about loss and love. Casstiel is a dragon shifter mourning the loss of his mate ten years ago. When the enemy rescues his friend Zales, he is hostile to them before realising one of them is tied to his essence. Desperate to be rid of it and join his mate in the afterlife, he tries to convince her. But it is really the right decision? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns out I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Cass struggling with grief while still doing his duty or Ashtura trying to fit in and discover herself. Great cast of supporting characters like the wise Zales or caring Saber or sweet Aries as a little kid. The use of locations in chapter titles was a terrific idea so the reader could follow the story when it changed location easily and picture it A brillaint example of fantasy with different realms and languages and races of magical beings The list of names and pronounciations was a great addition. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel for example the use of colour especially in the dragons with vivid colours refs and greens and blues. Or the lightning and the sunset as something otherworldly but beautiful. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

This is a paranormal story that is book 2 in the Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms series. In the beginning of the story it was hard for me to read, as I had to learn the characters and their situations, but I guess that’s what happens when you start a series with book 2. I did end up loving this story because, well…dragon shifters are amazing! Marean makes me want to read book 1 and any other books she writes in this series!
Ashara and Casstiel are two characters who have a connection with each other but don’t understand it. Casstiel was supposed to be mated with Maya but after her death he was stuck and couldn’t follow her to the afterlife. Thanks to the connection with Ashara. Casstiel planned to severe that connection but again fate had other plans. The pain and suffering that these main two characters go through is heartbreaking and sad. This story wasn’t all sadness. Casstiel’s daughter Skye is the perfect teenager. Not quite an adult but not quite a kid anymore. Her attitude, loneliness and confusion was spot on!
There are many other characters in this book which leads me to thinking and hoping that there will be many Dragon shifters in my future! I enjoyed learning about this world and their powers. Marean made it easy for me to become a dragon shifter fan!
