Caught in Midnight Shadows (Caught series, #4)Caught in Midnight Shadows by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great 5 star read. The author pulled me right in with her writing.
Something strange is going on and Brant needs to try and figure out what is going on. His mother said something to Brant that he is determined to figure out what she meant. To figure out the mystery he has to go to Oregon.

Aubrey is a bartender with some plans of her own, one of them wasn’t meeting Brant. There seems to be something brewing between them, will Aubrey change her plans? There is a twist and someone starts stalking Aubrey. Will Brant be able to help keep Aubrey safe and figure out his own mystery?

Overall this was a thrilling, mysterious read. I felt like I had several different stories in one. Brant was such a caring and hawt cowboy. Aubrey was great, she was very independent and loving. You could feel their connection coming off the pages, I really enjoyed their story. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

I really enjoyed this book. It has it all-romance, suspense, tragedy and betrayal and it had me right on the edge of my seat from the first page to the last. Brant has been through so much and he isn’t looking for love when he embarks on a mystery journey that Aubrey also finds herself being drawn into. She’s been tied down for so many years and doesn’t want to get attached to Brant when fate brings them together. He has kids and a ranch and that’s not what she’s looking for but deep down inside she can’t help developing feelings for him. Sometimes the very thing you run the hardest from is what you need the most, but sometimes you don’t realize that until it’s too late. This book had so many twists and turns but the ending made so much sense and just fit perfectly with the whole story. It was definitely swoon worthy! If you’re looking for a book to suck you right in, this is one you don’t want to miss.

This book was everything I was hoping for a more. You could read this as a stand-alone but I highly recommend the rest of the series as past characters can make an appearance. The characters are complex and relatable, I was pulled right into their world. They have a chemistry that had me sinking into their story and not wanting to leave. It’s got some suspense and it adds to an overall well rounded storyline. If you’re looking for a book that draws you in for a while and leaves you missing the characters this is definitely the book. Five big stars and highly recommended!

This is a great romantic suspense book that I really enjoyed. The twists and turns kept coming. When Brant loses his mother, the mystery note that was left behind already had me hooked on why she would say “find him and make it right”. Brant is determine to find out what this means and in this meets Aubrey. There is some trauma that Aubrey has to deal with and also with Brant having to deal with mysterious fires….but as Aubrey and Brant grow closer, there seems to be a stalker in the mix.

This story is full of mystery, edge of your seat moments along with Aubrey and Brant’s chemistry that really made for a great book! So glad I picked this book up to read. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Caught in Midnight Shadows (Caught series, #4)Caught in Midnight Shadows by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging romantic suspense novel with plenty of drama and intrigue which had me hooked from start to finish. Cattle rancher and father of three Brant Bellamy is determined to find a drifter who worked on the Bellamy Ranch, following his mother’s suspicious death. Someone also seems to to want Brant scared or dead. Meanwhile, bartender Aubrey Chartrand’s plans involve riding her new Harley-Davidson out of Angel Beach, Oregon, following years of taking care of her elderly aunt. Both Brant and Aubrey’s plans change when they meet each other and are instantly drawn to one another. When Aubrey also seems to be targeted by a stalker the couple work together to work out who it is and what they want, and whether the murderer has returned to finish what he started. This was a fast paced and exciting read with great characters who were likeable and relatable. The chemistry between Aubrey and Brant came across in the writing and the storyline had me gripped from page one. I read it as a standalone story, however some of the characters had obviously been introduced in previous books, and I am now keen to read the rest of the series.

Caught in Midnight Shadows (the Caught Series #4) by Sharleen Scott

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is the fourth book in the Caught Series, but can be read as a standalone. Caught in Midnight Shadows is a great easy read.

Brant has lost his mother in a strange accident. He doesn’t think it was quite an accident as he thinks someone is after him. He sends his kids with their mom, but what he doesn’t plan is to fall for someone while they are away. The quote I chose for Brant is: “Like I said, it isn’t safe, and I don’t want to bring trouble to Eric and Joan. We don’t know who is behind all this stuff going on around here, and I can’t risk you and the boys. You’ll stay with your mother in Chicago until I get back.”

Aubrey has been taking care of her aunt and bartending. After that is said and done she wants to get out of town and not look back. When she meets Brant she thinks that he may be enough to convince her to stay. The quote I chose for Aubrey is: “It was a midlife crisis or something, and I can’t get rid of him now. Crap. He’s looking this way. Please play along.”

Highly recommended for Romantic Suspense lovers.

This is the 4th books in the series. It can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading them in order if you plan to read more than one as previous characters appear again and would give spoilers.
I do love that some of the characters from previous books make an appearance in this book as I love to see what they are getting up to at a later date.
In this book we get the story of cattle rancher Brant Bellamy, who has recently lost him mother and is trying to find information relating to her will. On his travels he meets Aubrey Chartrand, who is planning to leave town.
This is a great romantic suspense novel. There is danger. mystery and intrigue. Someone is trying to kill Brant and he wants to know who and why?
I was pulled into this story from the very beginning and the story moves at a fast pace, keeping the reader enthralled and on the edge of their seat wanting to know how it will all pan out.
I really enjoyed this book, and the previous 3 books in the series, and would definitely recommend this book to others.

I enjoyed this book so much. The characters were well written and had a lot of depth. Brant Bellamy is a ranch owner whose mother just died. He is struggling to find out who is behind his mom’s death and to make sense of her last words. She told Brant to find him and make it right. Brant doesn’t know who he is and what Brant needs to make right. Brant goes to Oregon in search of the mystery man. While there, he meets Aubrey. She is one of the most fascinating women he has ever met. They both know that Brant’s time there is short and that a relationship can go nowhere. They also have a mystery man that is harassing and threatening them. Can they put a stop to the mystery man? Can they find the man Brant’s mom wanted him to find? Will they find a way to love each other? Find out in this fantastic, hard to put down story!

I love a good cowboy story and one with romance and mystery is even better. This was a very well written story. I fell in love with Brant from the beginning with the unconditional love he had for his kids. His only concern is keeping them safe after his mother passes suspiciously and he has numerous fires on his ranch. Setting off to Oregon to fulfill his mother’s last wish, can he find who is behind the tragedies back home?
Brant wanders into Aubrey’s bar, and now she is being stalked. Can Brant keep her safe too? Let the sparks fly, neither of them were looking for love, but it sure found them. I love this authors writing, even though it is the fourth book in the series it is the first I have read. I would love to go back and read the first three but did not feel like I was missing out on anything by dropping in so late.

Brant Bellamy’s mother dies from injuries sustained in an attack. Her last words “Find him and make it right” sends him away from his home and family to the Oregon coast. Brant believes his mother meant for him to head there to find a man who his mother knew 40 years ago. Once he’s there, he meets Aubrey Chartrand, a beautiful woman who catches his attention. But he’s not here for pleasure because he has business. However, Brant and Aubrey seem to have a connection they can’t ignore while at the same time, Brant’s bad luck of being someone’s target seems to be including Aubrey.

I really enjoyed reading this romantic suspense story. Although this is the fourth book in a series, I had no problem following the story. It definitely could be a stand alone book. The characters were easy to connect to and I couldn’t help myself rooting for Brant and Aubrey to connect as a couple. It took me a while to catch on to who was causing so much trouble in Brant’s life. The story kept my attention and I really didn’t want to put it down. I’m sure I’ll be reading the author’s other books in the series soon.

I was eagerly looking forward to this story. I enjoyed this one after a while. It started good but then it seemed to stall, be slow and honestly I skimmed a bit during that time. Just past half way things really picked up and became extremely interesting.

I love this series and the characters that have come out of it. In this one we meet Brant and his lovely children. There is more than one reason to love these. Brant is an honest guy who inspires devotion. His kids are a treat…unless your name is Sebastian. Ha ha! Aubrey is a girl looking for her future which doesn’t include Brant. She is focused and it’s easy to admire her. Their chemistry when together, is off the charts!

Overall this is a good addition to the series. It is not necessary to read the previous books but it will heighten your enjoyment of this one (especially book 1). As stated above I did enjoy the last 40ish percent.

Can I just say WOW?!!! This story is part of The Caught Series, Book 4. A standalone as well, but I recommend you follow the series. The Author did not disappoint. Her books continue to blow my mind. Is Romantic Suspense enough to keep you reading? Bryant Bellamy has one thing on his mind. To find out what really happened, and to make it right. That was his mother’s last dying words to him. Aubrey on the other hand just wants to ride her bike and work at the bar. Then Bryant happens and things change. Both are being stalked, both are in danger. Both have no time for romance. Or do they? Will the answers come to the surface, or will Bryant and Aubreys lives continue on a path of danger? Read on and find out what happens in this Romantic Suspense story.

I was not expecting to fall in love with this book and it’s characters! Brant is such a strong loving man with a soft heart. Aubrey is a strong independent woman who doesn’t realize how much her and Brant really need each other! The plot made me not want to put this book down. I wanted to know where the story was going and if Aubrey would see what a great man Brant is. The needing to know who the stalker was kept me guessing and wanting more. This is one of those books you want to finish but don’t really want the story to end. I will definitely be going back and reading the first 3!

Mystery and suspense
This story was an unexpected surprise. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series but it was easy to connect the dots with the other characters. I really enjoyed Brant and Aubrey’s characters and the romance was a slow burn sizzle. There was more mystery than drama which was a nice change. The writing and pacing was very good and I highly recommend for suspense romance lovers.

Woah, I had no idea what I was getting into with this novel as it was the first time I have experienced anything by this author but I was so happy I scooped this read up! This book was completely a surprise full of mystery and intrigue as I followed along on this detailed and suspenseful journey Brant Bellamy embarked on and found the beautiful and spunky Sharleen Scott on as well. These two lit up my kindle and I quickly became completely consumed by their story, rooting for them to find the happily ever after they so deserved. I loved this and look forward to going back and seeing what the rest of the series holds and what the future of the series might have in store.

Brant Bellamy in the race for his life. It seems that someone has the intention of either scaring him or killing him. After several suspicious accidents on the Bellamy ranch, and when Brant’s mother passes away under suspicious circumstances, he is determined to find out what is going on. His mom’s last words to him were find him and make it right. Brant does not understand what those words mean or who his mother meant but he is determined to find out. To protect his children from coming into harm’s way he sends them to their mom in Chicago and heads to the Oregon Coast with the purpose and intention of finding a man who worked on the Bellamy ranch 40 years ago.

However, fate has other plans when Brant meets the beautiful and exciting Aubrey Chartrand, who is a bartender at a local bar In Angel Beach where Brant stops to have a bite to eat. The unplanned meeting between the two of them causes both to rethink their decisions and future. Brant has only come in search of the mysterious stranger that worked at the Bellamy ranch years ago and Aubrey is planning on riding her Harley off into the proverbial sunset. She has no intention of getting tied down not after spending years looking after her elderly aunt. Their plans are quickly sidelined when Aubrey becomes targeted by a stalker. Suddenly her and Brant are pulled together to find out who this person is. It is now starting to look as though this mysterious person could be a murderer that has targeted them and put them both in his line of fire.

This book was incredibly difficult to put down and I ended up reading it from cover to cover. I became completely immersed in the lives of the characters and needed to know who this mysterious stranger was and what he wanted. I love the fact that even though it was centered around a romance between the two characters, Brant, and Aubrey, it was also full of action and suspense. I was completely drawn into the mystery surrounding not only the mysterious stalker who is after both Brant and Aubrey but what Brant’s mom’s last words meant. Who was this drifter that showed up on their ranch 40 years ago? Where did he come from? Why was it so important for Brant to find him?

I loved the character of Brant (I mean who doesn’t like a sexy cowboy) but more importantly I love the fact that he wasn’t a bad boy but instead someone with a big heart who cared about those that he loved and would do anything to protect them. I loved that Brant was a single father and that his focus was on keeping his children safe and being the best father that he could be to them. I also really enjoyed the fact that both main characters were older. I love that Aubrey was down to earth, independent, and fiercely loyal to those that she loved. The chemistry between Brant and Aubrey was undeniable even though they both tried to ignore it as best as they could. It just goes to show that sometimes things happen, and people cross our paths for a reason.

I will definitely need to read the first three to this series as I feel I am missing quite a back story but it was a fantastic book. The author did a great job at introducing the characters and using such rich description to set up the scene in the mind of the readers! Originally I chose to read this book because the synopsis caught my eye – I have family in Wyoming so I take in any story with characters from there or ranchers! – but then the mystery and thriller aspect of the book took over and made me so curious for what was going to happen next and how it was going to play out. I honestly can’t explain too much without it spoiling the story for those excited to read it but what I will say is 10/10 it hooked me and I will be finding the first three immediately to fill in the mental gaps I have. The author did a good job at trying to connect all dots in this book but I definitely encourage readers to start from book 1 for the full experience.

I wasn’t sure what I would be getting from this book and went in blind. Let me tell you that getting to know these characters was like an out of body experience. So eloquently written, and perfectly executed. This story had it all. From danger, suspense, attraction, surprise, intensity. These characters met unexpectedly, the chemistry blindsided them both. They weren’t looking for each other, but could not deny the growing need between them. Unpredictable and dramatic, they will go to any lengths to protect their own, and fight the ever present and increasing temptation. I loved not knowing what was in store at the next turn of the page. I felt the insatiable pull of this diverse and colourful cast, immersing myself in their journey and feeling so much I thought I would burst from the vivid emotions that captivated me throughout the story. Difficult to put down. Unforgettable. 5 stars.

Caught in Midnight Shadows (The Caught Series Book 4) by Sharleen Scott. This book was amazing! I started reading and read until I was finished! I don’t know if I even breathed, it was that good! Its the story of Brant Bellamy who owns a cattle ranch and has sent his kids to their moms in another state so he can find out who killed his mom. Her death is all kinds of suspicious and he wants to know what happened. He travels to Oregon looking for someone to give him information on his mom and while there he meets Sharleen Scott a bartender that very much interests him. She’s beautiful and dealing with the death of her Aunt who was like a mom to her and some trauma from her past. Both of them getting over the death of someone they loved pushes them together when neither of them was looking for a relationship. Brant ends up thinking he has a stalker and Sharleen does too. Is someone looking for them to do them harm and will they find them before its too late? This book was so good I highly recommend it!

I was very captivated by the characters in this book, they seemed to leap off the page and I was invested almost immediately. Brant Bellamy is a sexy cowboy with integrity and a good heart, who values family and protects those he loves with everything he has. Aubrey also surprised me with the layers to her character, is similarly loving and loyal, with lots of independence and spunk. I liked that this story was also between two people near middle age, it was a refreshing change from many love stories. The two have lives and loves and life experiences that made them interesting and complex. There are also a few twists in the plot that I didn’t see coming, so I was all the more focused on story and its turns. A very cozy read for me that I heartily recommend.

What a tangled web to unweave! Sharleen Scott kept me guessing at every turn. Brant is a rancher who recently lost his mother. She left behind a mysterious message for Brant to solve. Add in the fact that he believes someone is trying to kill him due to a string of unfortunate events and you are given quite the mystery to solve! His research sends him to the town of Angel Beach where he meets a bartender he can’t forget. Aubrey just lost her aunt who raised her, and is on the fast track to adventuring the open road on her Harley Davidson motorcycle. Until a handsome cowboy enters her bar and sends her for a loop. Aubrey soon realizes she is being targeted by a stalker and her new cowboy friend may be related.

This story was thrilling as character personalities unfold. I was drawn in and biting my nails at every turn. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, another plot twist sent me guessing. This is the fourth book in the Caught series by Sharleen Scott. One thing that I appreciated is that this book is able to be read as a standalone. The characters are introduced and built up in a way that allows readers to dig in and not be lost. I am definitely looking forward to checking out the other books in the series!

Hold onto your horses and strap yourself in because Caught in Midnight Shadows will take you for a ride! The suspense throughout the book literally keeps you on the edge of your seat! This book has two povs, Brant and Audrey. Without giving too much away, Brant has some weird things going on in his life. His barn being burnt down, and a few other things. Audrey is haunted by her trauma from a little kid, brought on by the death of her Great Aunt Tilda. Both seek solace in each other while trying to not get attached. The romance builds between them it’s almost palatable and you can feel it as the reader. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I greatly enjoyed the book, The ending wrapped everything up in a neat little bow, although it did have me a little worried there for a minute. The writing was phenomenal and Sharleen Scott has a good way of hooking you in and keeping you there. I loved how nothing was too over the top, but still down to Earth and relatable. I could see that happening to me without too much imagination. I cant wait to read her other books!
