Catch a Cowboy (Match Made in Montana Series) by Rachelle Paige Campbell Reviewed by Phylis Carpenter June 2024

This is a four book series and this is the second book in the series. I read the first book and loved it. I loved this one as well. Loved revisiting the same cast of characters, just focused on different ones this time. Really is a good series and I loved this book as much as the first one. They can be read in order or as a stand alone.

Ted works at the Kincaid ranch and they have hired Stephanie as their yoga teacher. Now that school is starting she needs to go back to teaching kindergarteners. Ted likes Stephanie but she doesnt know, She likes him but he doesn’t know it.

They are both kinda quiet and reserve will they let each other know how they feel. Check out the story and see what you think.

Catch a Cowboy is the 2nd book in the Match Made in Montana series by Rachelle Paige Campbell. I am enjoying this series so far. This book follows yoga instructor/kindergarten teacher Stephanie and cowboy Ted. Stephanie has had a crush on Ted all summer but somehow loses the ability to speak when she is around him, when Ted’s niece becomes one of Stephanie’s students, she realises she will need to communicate with him to make sure that the little girl is looked after. However, the extra attention she pays her newest student doesn’t go unnoticed by a few devious parents who are determined to make Stephanie fall in line. This was a really enjoyable read. I felt for Ted, who was scared to be hurt again after a tragedy in his past and felt myself getting quite angry about the treatment Stephanie was receiving from the helicopter parents, I found that I didn’t want to put it down as I wanted to know how it ended. I am looking forward to the next installment.

This story, these characters, this author. Hit me good with all the feels.

First: “External validation”

Then: “Children were a gift, forcing the grown-ups in their lives to snap out of their doldrums and look at the world with wonder.”

Absolutely love the sweet slow burn love that these characters develop. While both Ted and Stephanie are awkward around each other, which is so cute, they are strong and opinionated in their respective line of work, making them perfect for each other. I love the writing style of this author and the way she brings the characters together, even after a little turbulence.

This book is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone as each book focuses on a new couple. Looking forward to reading more about the Kincaid Ranch and family.

Catch A Cowboy is the second book in Rachelle Paige Campbell’s Match Made in Montana series but it could also be read as a standalone. I love the small town feel in this book. It’s a quick, fun ready that’s super cute. The character development is done flawlessly. Ted and Stephanie have amazing chemistry. I enjoyed the fact that the main characters learned life lessons along the way instead of just looking for romance. This book is a must read!

This is a very simple and cute story for one who wants to get away from the spicier romance novels. Ted and Stephanie are very compatible together without them realizing it and despite their age gap. I do like the character development of the main characters. Also the minor characters do provide how well all the characters get along and it does provide them with a family oriented setting.

Catch A Cowboy is the second book in the Match Made in Montana series by Rachelle Paige Campbell. It is a sweet, clean, cozy, slow-burn, contemporary romance with a small-town ‘western’ element, cowboys, ranches, age gap, angst, drama, emotion, opening up your heart after loss, and finding love unexpectedly.
This second instalment in the series could be read as a standalone if you wanted, as it focuses on a different couple than the first book did. But we do get to catch up with Meg and Ryan, as well as Ryan’s grandpa, Hank (the MC’s from Book #1) and revisit the Kincaid Ranch.
Kincaid Ranch’s leading hand, Ted Stirling, has closed himself off since losing his wife, still a little lost in his grief. But when his sister brings her daughter (his niece) to stay, Ted finds himself out of his depth, and looks to Stephanie Patricks, the young kindergarten teacher, for help. Stephanie has had a secret, long-term crush on Ted and can’t help but feel drawn to him. As they work together to help Ted’s niece, things between them begin to blossom. But Ted can’t help but feel that he is too old and jaded for someone so young and lovely. But then an unexpected situation highlights what’s truly important. Will Ted finally open his heart up again, and take a chance on love?
While I did enjoy this book more than the first, I still had trouble fully connecting with the characters- which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the story.
Let’s see what Book #3 might bring.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Rachelle Paige Campbell!

Catch A Cowboy (Match Made in Montana Book 2)Catch A Cowboy by Rachelle Paige Campbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Match Made in Montana series by Rachelle Paige Campbell is such a great romance series that focuses on the main characters learning life lessons while finding romance in their lives. Catch a Cowboy is the story of Stephanie and Ted’s romance and teaches a great lesson about how age shouldn’t matter when it comes to love. Ted is a widower who is oblivious to Stephanie’s crush on him. He only sees her as a sweet, young teacher who has a great talent for teaching yoga, and she has a great way with people and is always stepping in to help anyone and everyone in need. Ted gets put into a situation that is way out of his norm and finds Stephanie to be a saving grace for him. As they work together to help Maddy, Ted’s niece, adjust to her new living situation, they grow closer together. This story has so many amazing life lessons, both for the children, as well as the adults, and shows that the best things in life take hard work and perseverance. I love reading this book series and cannot wait for the next book to come out in the coming months.

This is a sweet romance. They have their concerns. Watching them work through it kind of makes it feel so much more real. This is book 2 in the series and it is so good. It gives you a heartwarming sensation. The characters are really very easy to relate to. You get to see faces from book 1. The writing makes the story one that you want to jump right in and stay in. I highly recommend this series.

An age gap, small town romance set in the beautiful setting of Montana is what Catch A Cowboy is all about. It is a slow burn romance tale that is clean in its telling.
Being on his own for many years with a broken heart has turned this cowboy into a grumpy man. Whilst the kindergarten teacher may have turned his eye it was their age difference that stilled his hand. She was sunshine and roses and he was all thorns and bristles. But they both have a past that affects them.
Rachelle did a good job of defining them and their lives, but they didn’t have much integration as a couple which I would have liked to see. The characters in the book felt like they were more apart instead of sharing their lives.
We did get to revisit with characters from the first book as Catch A Cowboy is the second book in the Match Made in Montana series.

Murder She Meowed (Bookshop Kitties Mysteries, Book 2) by Ruth J. Hartman – Review by Nicole Thompson

The Bookshop Kitties Mystery series returns with Murder She Meowed by Ruth J. Hartman, and it’s another delightful whodunnit. Christy Bailey is back, this time helping her friend Janie after her aunt’s wedding. But instead of wedding cake, they find a dead body – Janie’s ex-husband, no less!  With Janie in the hot seat, Christy, her adorable cats Milton and Pearl, and maybe-boyfriend Micah are determined to find the real killer.

Things get even wilder when mysterious torn-up papers in the backyard lead to rumors of buried treasure.  Author Ruth J. Hartman weaves a captivating mystery full of quirky characters, small-town charm, and just a dash of danger.  If you like cozy mysteries with a sprinkle of humor, a touch of romance, and some fabulous feline friends, you’ll adore Murder She Meowed.

Why you’ll love it:

• Green Meadows is the cozy small town you’ll want to visit (just maybe watch out for the murder rate!)

I can’t wait for the next Bookshop Kitties adventure!

This was a great cozy mystery! I have just recently started to read more of this genre and was not disappointed with this one. I didn’t realize until after I started this book that this was the second one in the series but honestly felt like I was able to keep up. I plan on going back and reading the first book because I love the characters and atmosphere of the story. The author’s easy writing style made for an enjoyable read. I really really like Christy’s character and how she manages to get people to talk to her when they come into her bookstore. Also love the name of her store! This classic who done it read was right up my alley and I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

This was such a lovely cozy mystery to cuddle up with over the weekend! I hadn’t read the first in the series, but I didn’t feel confused when I read this book which is the second in the series. I did enjoy this one so much that I will be picking up the first now! What else could top a great wedding and reception other than an intense crime investigation? When the list of suspects turns up someone that our main character least suspects, the plot gets even more intense! This author did an amazing job of keeping me on my toes throughout the entire story, and I loved every moment of it! I don’t want to accidentally give away any spoilers, but I will say that this is a must-read if you are looking for a cozy mystery to enjoy while bundled up with your tea!

Ruth Hartman is the author of Murder She Meowed and she has started a series of cozy mysteries. Included is your typical, fun, quirky characters that make these cozy mysteries so much fun. Murder, of course, investigations, banter, intrigue, and cats. I mean what more could you want, unless maybe you’re a dog person lol? This is book two and I had no trouble with this novel or feeling like I missed something so I feel like these can be standalone books but could possibly have details from the previous novels I missed. Super cute and definitely enjoyable.

Christy writes stories for children about her cats Milton and Pearl, but in real life, they help her find clues when a dead body is found at her friend’s pastry shop. This is a cute story about Christy finding her place in this small town, making friends, and compiling a list of suspects to get to the bottom of this latest small-town murder mystery. Murder She Meowed is the second book in the Bookshop Kitties Mysteries Series and a perfect read for those who love cozy mysteries and adorable kitties!

Christy is thrilled to be celebrating her Aunt Betty’s wedding to Wallace. It’s a sweet, small wedding complete with Christy’s cats taking part in it. Everything is perfect until Janie’s ex-husband shows up and takes many by surprise…and not in a good way. After the reception, Christy and Micah, Christy’s crush, agree to help Janie clean up at her pastry shop. What awaits them there is more than they bargained for, it’s Janie’s ex who is very much DEAD! Now, it’s up to Christy and her friends to solve the murder and keep Janie out of jail.

This was such a charming read complete with a charming town and quirky, loveable characters, including Christy’s adorable cats, Milton and Pearl. Those two cuties are as much a part of the stories as their human counterparts. I enjoyed how each of the characters is connected. It’s a town I would love to live in!

The mystery kept me so engaged throughout the book. Some twists and turns kept me guessing, especially when another body turns up! I also liked the light romance. There is definitely chemistry between Micah and Christy, but I really like the fact that Hartman isn’t rushing it, and even Janie may have a love interest.

If you love cozy mysteries with great characters, a hint of romance, a charming town, and the cutest kitties ever, I suggest giving this series a try!

Why did Tad (Janie’s ex-husband) turn up suddenly? What happened to him? Why did so many people have a reason to want him gone? These questions and many more weave throughout this page-turner that keeps you guessing as more of the story (and Tad’s history) unravel and Christy attempts to put the clues together. Although this is book 2 of a series, I haven’t read book 1 and was still fine to read this one as a standalone. I loved how this book started with such a special and heartfelt dedication ❣️

When I started reading this I couldn’t help but have a good giggle because we often hear how we take anything to God and April quite literally does just that praying for her Lululemon rain jacket to arrive 🤣🙏
I was invested right there and then so I let my family know that they’d have to stretch or starve and I’d be unavailable for the next couple of hours ❣️📚🤣

Big city girl April now works as a reporter in small town Laurel Lake along with her 4 legged bestie Ralph 🥰🐾 and Wesley the local vet seems to be rather taken with her as well and after helping solve a string of break ins and poisonings the locals seem to be warming up to her as well and hello she went from suspect to mystery solver!

Well this time round April has her hands full and she still can’t crochet 🤣 the grocery store burns down and despite the fact that the owner was as miserable as sin there’s a mystery to solve and April finds herself in a dangerous situation on more than one occasion …

April and friends will make you wish you were part of their inner circle and their “ adventures “

Spending time with him is a thrill and when they both agree to help Janie clean up after the wedding, what no one expects is to find Janie’s ex-husband dead. The police believe the case is easy to solve since Janie is the main suspect but Christy doesn’t believe it. A must-read mystery series, with amazing characters and kitties too! This book was a great mystery read, I loved that the kitties were such a big part of the storyline in solving the mystery. The characters were so down to earth, and personable, they are just like people you’d find in a small town living anywhere in the world. The budding romances in the side stories are just darling, it gives the story a feel-good touch to the story. The fact that we start with a wedding and a murder was so exciting, this story got started right off, and throughout you get hints and clues that help you work to solve the who-done-it right along with our main characters. This was like a great mystery read with a set of kitties who help solve the mystery and play a huge role in finding out who the killer is. The details that the author put into writing this book made it what it was, it helped build up the storyline. Especially with all the different side scenarios in the different character’s lives, it made solving the mystery even more exciting right to the end. This book was the second book in the Bookshop Kitties Mystery series but was the first book that I read. It worked amazingly as a standalone novel, but I am looking forward to going back and reading the first book in the series. I am looking forward to hearing when the next book will be coming out because there are a lot of side romances that are just starting to develop, that are waiting to be continued.

A fun cozy murder mystery with great characters and added bonus cat characters who are the shop owners pets. This is the second book in the Bookshop Kitties Mysteries series. The next day the same man, who happens to be Christy’s best friend Janie’s ex-husband, is found dead in Janie’s pastry shop. Christy will help Janie prove she is innocent.
The characters in the story are well written and relatable. I think any good friend would help someone prove their innocence just like Christy is doing. The cats are adorable and also join in to help! I hope you love the book as much as I did!

Murder She Meowed (Bookshop Kitties Mysteries, Book 2) by Ruth J. Hartman – Review by Lucinda Morton-Phillips

Murder She Meowed is the 2nd book in the BookShop Kitties series by Ruth J. Hartman, but it can easily be read as a standalone book. It is a cozy mystery featuring Christy, a children’s book author who helps to run a bookshop with her Aunt Betty and two very spoilt cats, Milton & Pearl.
The trouble starts after the wedding reception of Aunt Betty & Wallace, whilst helping to clear up after the reception, Christy and her want-to-be boyfriend Micah discover a dead body on the floor of Christy’s friend Janie’s pastry shop, Dreamy Sweets. It turns out that the body belongs to Janie’s ex-husband, Tad, a distant relative to Wallace, and by all accounts, not a very nice bloke.
Janie is the obviously the main suspect, but she is not the only one with a reason to see Tad dead and that leads to several mysteries to be solved. Christy cannot help to try to solve the mystery and clear her friend’s name.
The first chapter or two gives a lot of extra information to help orient you in the story, but then it flows from there into a fast-paced and enjoyable cozy mystery. I am definitely going to go back and read the first book to find out more about why Christy moved back to the small town of Green Meadow, and to find out the back story of Betty and Wallace.
