  • Futuristic meets YA meets mystery. A fast paced story with an interesting concept. We have Friday who finds out she has powers and ends up at Hero High, where her journey ends up being reality television. Action packed, it packs an interesting punch and while its fairly short, its a great read!View all my reviews

I’ve enjoyed this young adult genre more than most teens I know or young adults. In this futuristic mystery, we go into the world of Icon City, a haven for one percenters. You instantly fall in love with the characters, especially the main character who has a powerful personality which is set to inspire the readers.
She’s fully aware of her personality which brings her great strengths in a lot of ways plus she’s aware of her surroundings and how it affects her.
In this fantasy, she used to be a “normal” 17-year-old girl until her dad found out she had superpowers and shipped her off to a famous school for powered people of the world — Hero High.
At Hero High, she lives in the SuperStructure where cameras follow her every move. People with powers have just as many expectations on them as humans do with the pressures they succumb themselves to. Through this she’s making money for the family and she’s starting to see the place for what it is.
She is us as we’re along for the ride with her as she takes on the role of hero as she attempts to discover the identity of an unknown villain and their intentions with the school. She’s a selfless hero in for the ride no matter the consequences.
Great adventure with mysteries. Fun read full of action-packed pages full of unpredictable twists and turns. Very fun to get through.

This is a full length fantasy. Written for the coming of age romance readers.

Welcome to the School for the Power People. Hero High provides all the things the students need. This is a different type of school you are used to. These high school students are told what to wear, as the school provides the clothes. The students are followed around by cameras and are told who they are to date. That being the case, they are paid for this. Good or bad the money is to help out their families. That is all I will tell you! No spoilers!

Mina Chara has written this Fantasy Adventure. I love the characters in this story. But most of all I feel as though I am right there beside the teens. This book is loaded with action and will keep you reading. Although it is written for teens and young adults, I feel anybody could read it. This gives you a chance to discuss this book with your teens, open communication is always GREAT. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, as well as discussing it with my teenager. Well Done Mina Chara!

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. It is a Young Adult fantasy adventure story set in a ‘superhero’ high school.
When 17 year old Friday develops ‘powers’ she is sent to Hero High, where her adventure begins, and things start to get interesting.
Mina Chara is a new-to-me author whose book popped up on my recommended book feed- it piqued my interest, so I grabbed a copy to see what I would find. I am happy to say that I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the rest of the series.
If you love young adult reads with fantasy, adventure, and superheroes- then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you, Mina Chara!

5-Stars

Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara was a fun and interesting short read. I loved the authors creativity in making a world full of heroes. This gave it a unique twist. I loved the backstory of main character Friday. She was different and extremely smart. I loved her and her quirkiness. I also loved how the book was set up as an interview of her. I am interested in learning more about Ashley. Is he who I think he is? I can’t wait to read the next book. This book may be short but it is great. I easily give it 5-stars and I highly recommend it.

The story Anger (Hero High Book 2) by Mina Chara is the next exciting book in the Hero High series. It pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the final page. It is entertaining and fast-paced. In this story, the main character continues to investigate the Figure in the Flames and Dr. Dangerous. The main character also continues to deal with anxiety and how to fit in socially. Read this book to find out the full story. The author does a wonderful job of world-building and keeping the storyline interesting. There are additional characters that I enjoyed reading about and others who I would wonder what their motivations are. There are also romantic feelings that are felt. There is also the intriguing bantering/interactions between the characters. Don’t miss out on the next part of this wonderful series. I would recommend reading it.

This is the second book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first one. This is a young adult story that is full of supernatural powers. It will keep you guessing as you try to figure out where the villians came from. This story is full of action with villains and heroes. The problem is you don’t know who is who and who is watching. Will the MC figure it out before it’s too late? I enjoyed the characters in this story. I had no problem connecting with them, even the villains who helped make the story flow and engaging. It is fast paced and had me turning pages fast. I highly recommend this book as well as the first one, you won’t regret picking them up.

Denial by Mina Chara is the first book in the Hero High series. It is a short story that is jam packed full of action and fantasy.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it definitely caught my attention. I loved the main character and how strong she came across. She finds herself thrown into an unexpected situation and yet seems to take to all in her stride.
Although a quick read the book had everything in you could want. It didn’t feel like you were missing out on anything, although I definitely wouldn’t have said no more chapters in this book.
This was a great introduction to a new author and I can’t wait to read more.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a book that had me hooked and wondering what was going to happen next. It pulled me in, and I found myself at the end wishing for a few more chapters. It is the story of a girl who has been placed in Hero High by her father. She is 17, is opinionated, has powers, and not shy about what she says or does. Things seem to happen around her and as she tries to settle into school, she finds herself in several situations that make her wonder just what is going on in the city. Read this book for the full story. This is a fast-paced story. It takes you to a school where powered people live and train. The character that you follow seems to follow her own drum and is finding out that strange things are happening around her. I like the idea of a school for those with powers and it would be an interesting and exciting place to be. The other characters who interact with the main character are interesting and I enjoyed the interactions that occur. This is a book that I would recommend reading.

I have to be brave, they’re watching.

I was an every day part of the Hero Channel’s most famous show Hero High, until I met the Figure in the Flames and the copycat Dr Dangerous.

Living at the superstructure is risky and invasive, especially when trying to figure out where two new real super villains come from. I can’t let the cameras see what I’m doing, because I’m pretty sure they’re in on it, and people are getting hurt.

I can’t trust The Hero Channel.

I’m not even sure who the bad guys are anymore. There’s too much to keep track of. My hero, Captain Fantastic might actually take me under his wing, if it wasn’t for his real mentee Ashley who basically hates me.

Someone’s lying to me.

Maybe everyone.

Anger is book 2 in the Hero High series and is set in the near future world of Icon City, a place filled with powered one-percenters.

This book is the second in the series sadly I didn’t read the first and now I feel I must read the first book as well. Such a great writing style and character building. Sky to Sea: Crimson Sash Book 2, by Amanda Marin was a very good read. It was reflective of our society at this time in our country and the different feelings and attitudes about immigration. I enjoy books that reflect on our present society it helps to understand or consider a perspective that you may not have considered before. And it’s just a good story. The relationship between Neve and Micah is fragile and strong at the same time. Their struggle to help each other in the best way that they know how is a wonderful story. This book is a great read all on its own but if you haven’t read the first in this series North to Nara: Crimson Sash Book 1, you should. The background story will double your reading pleasure for this one.

I remember when I read the first book in this series and the authors writing almost sang to me off the pages, so I have to admit I was really looking forward to reading the next book in the series and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Again the authors writing was such a pleasure to read, the storyline had a lovely flow to it. I love Neve and Micah, they are just such lovely and genuine characters and I enjoyed following their journey. The authors beautiful descriptive language made me feel like I was right there with the characters experiencing some of the scenery and things that they were. Dystopian reads aren’t usually my go to genre but I am really enjoying this series! Sky to Sea should be read following the first book North to Nara as it is a continuation of that story – both wonderful reads and I don’t think readers will be disappointed at all!!

Sky to Sea: Crimson Sash- Book 2 by Amanda Marin

Sky to Sea is book 2 in Marin’s ‘Crimson Sash’ series. It continues the story of Neve Hall and Micah Ward which began in the first book, ‘North to Nara’. It is set in a dystopian world with two waring factions the ‘New Republic’ and the ‘Nation’. Neve and Micah find themselves in a refugee shelter trying to convince the immigration officials that they are worthy of citizenship to the ‘New Republic’ but as a Sufferer, an empath Micah is wanted back by the ‘Nation’. Torn between the two places the couple find themselves in the middle of conflict and are kidnapped and held hostage, but underneath it all they just want to be together and find the freedom to love as promised by the New Republic. Sadly for the couple the myth and fantasy is not like the reality.
I loved Neve and Micah, I found the couple likeable, realistic and ‘normal’ in this dystopian world. I was cheering them on throughout the book and I really cared about their outcome.
This is a well written book with a solid storyline, great characters and it moves along at a fast pace. I was gripped from page one and found myself immersed in Marin’s dystopian world.
Although this is book 2 of a series, I read it as a stand-alone book and was able to enjoy it and understand the storyline, however I think if I had read book one, I would have had more of the characters backstory and their reasoning behind certain decisions they made. I am keen to read, ‘North to Nara’ now.

Sky to Sea (Crimson Sash Book 2) By Amanda Marin was an interesting and fascinating read. The author transports readers to another world. It was fascinating to me to read how the world was divided and the different types of governments that existed to rule. The Nation sounded like a cruel and terrifying place to live. I was shocked with the horrors Micah and Neve were forced to face before escaping. The story begins with them at a refugee camp trying to attain citizenship ship in the New Republic. This was definitely a book I don’t usually read and I enjoyed it.

Sky to Sea was an incredible, heartfelt novel! There was so much involved in the novel (I won’t go into details because spoilers) that ring so true with society today. From forbidden love, to different nationalities, and mental illness, this novel touches on so many topics that are relevant today in real life. I didn’t read the first novel, but this one grabbed me from the beginning and didn’t let go. I couldn’t stop reading it! I can’t wait to read the first one and the last one! I highly recommend this novel, it is also fitting for any each, young adult to adult.

It is one of my favourite things discovering a new author. This is the second book in the series but my own habit first book I have read by this author and this series. I didn’t find it hard to follow the story and was totally engrossed in the book. I find the author’s created world very interesting and unique. I like the romance undertone to the book and the bits of drama that unfold through the whole book.

Neve and Micah’s forbidden love is just such a heart gripping part of the story. The drama that they went through to get where they are and the drama that follows on. I really found that the world the author created could in someways mirror reality now a days. I found myself really drawn to Micah’s character and the traumas he endured all because he dared to love. I just could not put this
book down and I will definitely read more from this author and this series in the future.

Sky to Sea (Crimson Sash Book 2) By Amanda Marin. This is the second book in this series and I really think you should read the first one to really get the story. I’m not a huge fan of this genre but I loved this book. Its the story of Neve Hall a strong, independent young woman and Micah Ward a young man that has been thru a lot. They find themselves in the New Republic and think they are home free but in reality they are having to prove themselves worthy of being citizens there. They must convince the Immigration Case Manager that they will be productive citizens to the New Republic. Neve and Micah find themselves at the center of a battle when tensions occur between the New Republic and the Nation. They are kidnapped and held hostage and until the Nation meets their demands they won’t be released and one of the demands is Micah must return! This is a wonderful book that will keep you turning the pages. Read it to find out what happens to Micah and Neve! You will love it!

Sky to Sea is the second book in the series, Crimson Sash by Amanda Marin. I would highly recommend reading the first book, North to Nara to enjoy Sky to Sea fully. Marin has created a beautiful world for the backdrop of this dystopian book. Her characters just fly off the page. This story is about Neve and Micah. They are living in a shelter for refugees as they are trying to get citizenship before they are deported back to the Nation.I have found myself flipping through the pages as I wanted to know what lies ahead for Neve and Micah. It was a roller coaster for sure. I love the twists and turns. What will happen to Neve and Micah? Will they be trapped in between the worlds or will they be able to gain citizenship to live in New Republic?

I will be the first to admit dystopian is not my go-to read genre but once I had read the first book of the Crimson Sash series I knew that I would need to know more and be back again with Amanda Marin and her fabulous collection of characters that we get to know and love in this series. These books are romance but geared to young adults so most of the romance is pg at best so that can be a nice refreshing change of pace if you read a lot of erotica or dark stuff normally.

I really enjoyed reading about Neve and Micah and really I just fell in love with them as a whole. These two are some strong young adults with old souls I felt as I was reading. They kept me engaged and I never found myself overwhelmed with made up jargon or over detailing so that is also a plus with these books. Sky to Sea was probably my most favorite yet and I honestly can’t wait to see what we will get with the next book. I will be back again for sure!

WOW!! I loved the first book of this series but I think this one was even better, I have become so emotionally invested in all of these people …I’m not normally a huge dystopian fan, and also not a huge YA fan, but let me tell you if taking YA and dystopian and throwing them together gives me this? Im sold. Throw in some awesome clean romance and I’m done.

Not sure how to explain this author’s style of writing except smooth and with feeling because I felt it all. I’ve even got the whole picture of their room, the park, everything described in this story I saw it clear in my mind. I was literally transported into the story. It was awesome!

Neve and Micah might just be 2 of my favorite characters ever. They were both just so sincere…I just can’t say enough about this whole book. Simply amazing! You truly have no idea what is going to happen or why from one page to another and I could not put it down!

This is a continuing storyline, although it may be possible to read this as a stand alone i do not recommend it and it’s so good you won’t be sorry reading them in order. It does not end in a holy moly throw your kindle kind of way, but does end where you feel like you wont make it till the next is released. Not sure what is in store for Neve and Micah but I know I’ll be one of the first in line to find out!!

LOVED IT!!

Sky to Sea by Amanda Marin is the second book in her Crimson Sash series. This is a YA fantasy series that includes sci-fi, drama, action and adventure. I was unsure about this book but gave it a chance after reading the synopsis and I can honestly say I am glad I took the chance. This book is about Neve Hall and Micah Ward who are trying to prove themselves to gain citizenship in the New Republic. Will they gain the citizenship? What does the future hold for them? The story is written great as are the characters and I recommend reading this series in orders.
