Dirty Heartbreaker (Hamilton Steelhawks Series) by A. C. Sheppard

Dirty Heartbreaker is the third book in the Hamilton Steelhawks Series and is a Contemporary Romance/ Sports Romance that I truly enjoyed reading. I’m fairly new to these authors but like there style of writing and attention to detail This series focuses on different players from Steelhawks Hockey team. This is Colby and Gabriella’s story. He’s a shoot and score kinda guy on and off the ice. But when he’s asked to be best man for one of his teammates he realizes that means having to put up with one person he can’t stop fantasizing about. She’s a former figure ice skater who is now a business women she’s bound and determined to see that her best friends wedding goes on without any issues. One problem she has to put up with the one person who not only gets her worked up but ignites a fire in her. These two definitely have chemistry between them in the bedroom. Can these two have a relationship? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. If you like Sports Romance then this series is definitely for you.

I really enjoy reading books by this author. I would for sure pay attention to the trigger warnings at the start of the book, because things… get a little heavy and dark. Anise builds a fantastic world for the Titian’s. Harper and Gabriel’s story starts out sweet and then then it takes a turn for the worse. Harper has to leave due to a family tragedy and breaks Gabriel’s heart in the process. Later when Harper has to come back seeking help She seeks out Gabriel help. Gabriel makes her pay for breaking his heart. These two clash like fire and ice, but the joining is oh so sweet. Lots of spicy scenes to keep one’s heart pitter pattering and blood pressure rising. I enjoyed this book a lot and I hope that Anise writes more into this world!

This is apart of a series but 100% can be read as a standalone with no issue. I think the ending could’ve been stronger and I would’ve liked a more climactic discussion between Ros & Jackson. I haven’t read all the books in the set but I do like that they don’t require you to.

First off this is probably the only book I’ve read that has had trigger warnings that actually had a note at the beginning noting that.

Harper and Gabriel have become inseparable and have their whole life planned out for their future together. That is until their world gets tossed upside down with the news of Harpers parents dying.

Being whisked off to another state and then being taken advantage of by a family member. She felt forced to break the heart of her soul mate.

Years later and she’s been keeping tabs on Gabriel. Seeing how successful he has become and how life has changed for him over the years. Then tragedy strikes and in the midst of all that Harper has been trying to get what her parents left her.

The truth that she uncovers, the hurt she uncovers, the pain she endures. Will the love that Harper and Gabriel be able to be rekindled and survive?

This is the first fake romance story I have read in a while and I think it is a really great one. I connected with the characters so easily and I thought the author did a great job of making them relatable and feel real. I thought the overall story was good and fit well with the characters and their development throughout the book.
This is an author that I have become more familiar with over the last couple of years and I always enjoy her work. Her books are always well written and interesting and this book has definitely confirmed that I want to discover more of what she has to offer. This is a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dirty Heartbreaker is the fun third instalment of the Hamilton Steelhawks series by A C Sheppard. This is my first time reading anything by these authors and it was an enjoyable read.
The series focuses on the members of the Hamilton Steelhawks an ice hockey sports series.
Opposites attract, enemies to lover’s trope with this tale. They say there is a fine line between hate and love and in this story that seems to be true.
It’s fun to see the sass, the bite and the snarky banter between these two. This is Colby and Gabriella’s story.
Journey along as we watch these two fight their way to happiness or do they.
Dirty Heartbreaker is one for sports lovers.
I look forward to seeing what else this writing duo come up with.

Another great story from an author I have looked forward to reading more of. Harper and Gabriel have history. Not good history, things were said and done that destroyed their friendship. Now in the face of danger can they depend on each other? Can they forgive and build what was lost. This suspenseful story has so much going on and yet the author kept it smooth going. This is a fast paced page turner. I fell in love with the characters and the parts they played. The story is well written and I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series next. What a fantastic contemporary romance. So worth reading. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do.

Fashionably Fake (Kings of Screen Series) by Morgana Bevan. This has been such a good series. They can all be read as standalones but I really enjoy getting to know all the characters so I read them in order. This one is about Actor Jackson Levo who is known as the absolute playboy. No one will ever catch Jackson and turn him into a husband. Roseline Butler is a fashion designer who is not having her best time. She is about to have no money to her name and she is lost. When she almost lost her mind over Jackson last year she’s not about to do it again until he asks her to be his fake girlfriend to help his image as an actor. Can she spend a year doting on him as a pretend girlfriend and not catch feelings. Jackson has already caught feelings and wants to prove to Roseline that he can change and be true to her. This is a fun and romantic read that will keep you reading late in the night! I loved it!

This book…wow!! I’ve been a huge fan of this author and this book definitely grabs you and makes you
Feel all the feels.
Harper and Gabriel pretty much grew up together and are very much in love at 16 years old. They have plans to go to the same college. Gabe can pretty much go anywhere but he’s waiting to see where Harper gets in to
Before deciding.
Their plans of college together, then living happily ever after come crashing down when they get devastating news one night. With no time to process, their lives change right then and there. Harper can’t think of how to keep Gabriel in the dark about her horrible home life so she does what she can only think is best and that’s break up with him. They both go on to live their own lives. Gabriel hating Harper. Harper missing Gabriel but blocking his # and blocking him on social media until 10 years later when she thinks he’s in danger. How will Gabriel feel
About Harper showing up out of the blue spewing all this crazy talk. The chemistry between these two is ridiculously hot. True love never dies…or does it?
When Harper gets back to Chicago and tries to explain to Gabriel what’s going on will he believe her, will she be able to save Gabriel or will it be a wasted trip. What will happen when her deepest, darkest secrets are revealed. This book was seriously so good. Cannot wait to read more by this author.

The Rocklyns Collection: Books 1-7 (The Rocklyns Series) by Alicia Street. I love this boxed set! Each book can be read as a standalone but I really enjoyed reading them in order. This set follows the Rocklyn family of brothers, sisters and cousins as they find love and make their way thru life. My favorite stories were Rainy Day Lovers about Raina who has grown up making sure everyone got along and never really took time for herself. She is a family law attorney and keeps busy with that. Roman is a well known plastic surgeon and has had a lot of loss in his life. When he and Raina meet their is chemistry but can they work thru their past issues to make it work? Improbable Lovers is about Grant who is a ex Army Ranger and has seen lots of bad things leaving him with a damaged soul. He likes to keep to himself but when he meets Keisha who is a wild independent woman that is up for anything she wants to get to know Grant but only if she can get past his walls. When tragedy strikes for Keisha, Grant is the only person she wants to help her thru it. These stories are all so good and are about a multitude of topics including, second chances, secret baby, forbidden love and grumpy/happy relationships! Such a great boxed set.

I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! If you are looking for a romantic slow-burn with extra *spice* then this is the book for you. Colby and Gabby’s story is so well done and you will want to throttle both of them throughout the story but there is an HEA. Sheppard’s character development and plot progression is amazing and will have you rooting for the characters even if they drive you insane. This is book 3 of 3 in the Hamilton Steelhawks series; however, you can totally read it (and any of them) as standalones. Another aspect I really appreciate when authors do is when you get to see how the other characters from previous books are doing. We get updates on Addie and Max from Book 1 and Jayden and Cait from Book 2. If you are into sports romances this is the book for you. And if you aren’t…then you haven’t found the right one yet and HERE IT IS! Definitely pick this up today, you won’t regret it because this has it all…hockey, forced proximity, HEA, enemies-to-lovers (kind of), and so much more.

This is an intense story. I loved every minute of it. Harper is just trying to set things right after her life goes to hell when her parents die and she is sent to live with her uncle. 10 years later, she is back to try and tell Gabriel, the love that she never gave up on, that he’s in danger. There is so much going on. The action, drama, steam, romance, and so much more makes this a fantastic beginning to the Titans of Chicago series. I couldn’t put this down once I started. I’m looking forward to more from this batch of titans.

C. Sheppard is made up of an international tag team of romance authors. Anne and Clem (A. C. get it?) met back in the dark ages of the Internet when Geocities was a thing. (Get off our lawns!). We may even have chatted over Yahoo!Messenger. (Really, get off our lawns!) We both discovered writing through a mutual love of fanfiction and reading. Though we followed different writing journeys, we were both published separately in our respective native languages.

Anne lives with her husband and cat in the wilds of suburbia outside Montreal, where she works part-time in a grocery store. She is an avid hockey fan. Otherwise, she finds other excuses to neglect the housework, among them knitting, reading, and diving into Google wormholes.

Clem lives near Paris with her husband and her son, and teaches English in high school. She enjoys needlework, baking, hockey noises, rerunning The Office, bingeing books on her e-reader until 2AM and complaining that she doesn’t get enough sleep.

This is the first book in The Shattered Embrace series. This ended up being an overall good book, it was not what I was expecting, yet I enjoyed it. Great characters that seemed very real, Ashton is a strong independent career woman, and Zach is her boss. It is a spicy, best friends’ brother romance, opposites attract with intense chemistry. I say definitely give this book a try you might be as surprised as I was.

The Rocklyns Collection: Books 1-7 (The Rocklyns Series) by Alicia Street is a great contemporary romance series with many tropes

Follow the brothers, sisters, and cousins of the Rocklyn family as they navigate life’s obstacles and discover love. Favorite hot clichés like opposites attract, second chances, hidden babies, separate worlds, grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity, secret identity, and forbidden love are all included in this packaged collection of the seven stories in The Rocklyns series.

Every page was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. The stories really brings us into their world. I couldn’t put the book down. So glad it was a collection.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a treat this collection was! One of my favorite things is a series where you have characters re-emerging throughout the rest of the series in the lives of each other. This collection is focused on the Rocklyn family, from sons and daughters to cousins. They’re all pretty easy to enjoy their company, and reading this as more of a set made it feel even more like you know them. Each book could be read as a standalone, but why would you want to do that to yourself?

Lovers in Training focuses on personal trainer Shannon and the man who turns out to be her new client, Tate. Shannon has no interest in love, because it makes you vulnerable – but Tate is a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to do what he needs to to get it.

Maybe Lovers – Dr. Jeff is a helper, but it doesn’t always work in his favor. He frequents the bar where Carly works, and she took notice of him long ago. When their attraction gets them holed up in a hotel room and secrets and past traumas show themselves after some crazy passion, where will they end up?

Rainy Day Lovers – Raina has grown up as the fixer and peacekeeper, which led her to family law. Somewhere along the line, Raina realized that her dedication to fixing everyone else’s lives has left her alone. Roman is a plastic surgeon with tragedy in his past that left him alone when he was young. He’s a successful plastic surgeon with a woman he dreams of. Will they allow themselves to let the other in?

Encore Lovers – Matt Jr. lived his life as the crown prince of a small town, he has lived a lot of his life disconnected and unaware. In his fathers footsteps, he’s a wildly successful businessman who has everything he could dream of – but there’s a woman from his past who has never left his mind. Emerson’s father had a family business as well, but after she fled as a pregnant and brokenhearted teen, she hadn’t been back in a long time. Now that her father’s business is suffering and he needs her help to save the business and their home, she’s back. What will happen when everyone learns the secret she has kept all these years?

Never Lovers – Patrice is the Rocklyn in this story, and she is a runaway bride. Once she got an eyeful of herself in her wedding dress, she fled to the family ski house to try to figure out what she wants out of life. Monty is a rockstar from her past who never been able to forget her, or the tragedies he’s lived through. Will their paths converge together, or separate again?

Improbable Lovers – Grant is an ex Army Ranger who likes to keep everything tucked in tight. He doesn’t want recognition, he doesn’t want to talk to many people…he doesn’t want to share how damaged the things he has seen and experienced have really left him. Keisha is a wildly independent bad@$$ stunt double for a living who likes to live hard and fast. As such, when she sets eyes on Grant, she can’t imagine it will take that much effort to keep him company while she’s in town. When she loses her father, she can’t think of anyone more solid than Grant to help her survive her grief. Little does she know, Grant is giving her a chance to be his solid support, too. This is definitely an opposites attracts story.

Windswept Lovers – Tucker is the athletic, outdoorsy charmer of a pretty dynamic family of charmers. While he is much more easy going than his brothers, he does own businesses with bikes and paddle boards, a fitness training business, as well as a kayak tour business. Life is too short to sit in a stuffy old office every day, anyway. Max is a wallflower, which is exactly how she likes it. Life has been tough, so being virtually unseen makes it a bit easier to avoid trouble. Running the house of a successful woman is the perfect job for her – but Tucker REALLY makes her want to come out of her shell. Will she be able to win the prize of Tucker, or will she remain unseen forever?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fashionably Fake is the 4th book in the Kings of Screen Series. They can all be read as a standalone and I really don’t think the reader misses anything reading them out of order. Morgana Bevan does an amazing job connecting the stories together and giving important information without making it seem like the reader has missed something. I have read another book in this series so I was really looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed. There is so much in this quick, fun, easy read; there is romance, intense chemistry, and tons of drama. The characters are fun, flirty, and sassy and fairly believable. There were a few instances throughout the book where Ros and Jackson seemed to be thinking in circles and it felt like the momentum of the story stalls briefly, but otherwise, the story had a nice flow and lots of good world building. I love the dual point of views through the eyes of both Ros and Jackson. It’s always nice to see things from another’s perspective. I look forward to reading more books by Morgana Bevan.

Fashionably Fake is the fourth book in the Kings of Screen Series and is a Contemporary Romance that I absolutely loved reading. This is a fake relationship friends to lovers trope that is packed with drama, chemistry, and so much more. Hollywood isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. This is Ros and Jackson’s story. She’s about to lose it all and so is he but can a simple solution save both of them? Can their fake relationship turn into more? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Smooth Hoperator (Love on Tap Book 2) by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Jessie Hopkins

It is obvious how much the Brooks family cares about one another, no matter how diverse and different they may be.
Carter’s background and current life gets more interesting with every page turn. As you see where he’s currently at, what got him to this spot and what he’s attempting to do next, you understand more about why he is so quiet and distant.
I enjoyed the way Sunny balances out Carter and brings him out of his shell. Sebastian adds his own interesting dynamics in both his interactions with Sunny as well as Carter.

I can’t wait to read more about the Brooks siblings.

Fashionably Fake (Kings of Screen, #4)Fashionably Fake by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoy this series! The last of the four has fallen in Fashionably Fake. The author sucks you in. Get you invested. Next thing you know it’s 5am after saying 1 more hour because you can’t put the book down. Though this is a series you don’t have to read the previous books first. It reads well as a standalone novel. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read them all into this one.
Jackson has fallen. But reality will he ever truly have the girl he wants? Ros is an enigma, it’s not that he doesn’t understand her but he knows there’s emotional damage there as well. Telling the press they’ve been in a relationship for months doesn’t help his case. Ros is pissed but agrees to be his fake girlfriend.
Ros can’t believe Jackson did this to her. And he refuses to retract the statement. Men like him never truly want a woman like her, at least that’s her mindset. So why does she agree to help him? Did she think she could keep her distance? As feelings start to bubble to the surface she’s not sure how to handle them.
Will Ros drop her walls and insecurities enough to let Jackson in?
Will Jackson truly pursue her?
Those questions and so much more. A fun romance that keeps one on their toes wanting more. There’s other supporting characters outside of the main four so I’m curious to know if this is the end or will they get stories too?
I look forward to more by this author in the future.
Now you should look forward to reading this book!

Carter, former political figure, now slinging brews in a brewery. He meets the local librarian, Sunny, and her grandfather. There are people out there that would like to ruin what Carter has going, but he wants to stop them before everything is lost. Sunny could be helpful IF she gets on board with his crazy plan. Of course, she gets to use him to make her true love jealous by fake dating him. The only thing is that as they spend more time together his feelings start to become real. Will Sunny reciprocate his feelings or will she leave him behind? This series doesn’t have to be read in order even though the books do intertwine a little. I enjoyed this story and reading about this family. Each story brought something a little different, but the author did a great job bringing the characters to life. They were also very relatable.

It has been a while since her husband passed away and Ashton is still trying to find herself. She has a side to her that rarely, if ever, gets to see the light of day. When she applies for a membership at the club Shatteres Embrace she didn’t expect to see Zachary there. Not only is he her best friends brother but her new boss. He should be off-limits but how can she turn down what he is offering? I enjoyed this book and the characters were likeable. The story flowed fairly well and was easy to read. I look forward to seeing what the next book in the series has to offer.

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace Series Book #1) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Angela Hayes

Hidden Mischief (Shattered Embrace #1)Hidden Mischief by Alyndra Quinn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘This is going to be such a long meeting. Time to pull it together. Fast. I have a job to do. And no time in my life for lusting over authoritative siblings of my friends.’

Hidden Mischief is the first book in the Shattered Embrace series by Alyndra Quinn. This also appears to be Ms. Quinn’s debut novel- so I was curious to see what lay between these covers. The blurb certainly engaged my curiosity to want to find out what lay under these covers- but as a debut novel, could Ms. Quinn deliver on the promises held in the blurb? Well, I am happy to say that she does indeed deliver a captivating story that held my attention the whole way through. There were a few minor issues that I popped up here and there- but nothing that detracted any from my overall enjoyment of the story.
We meet Ashton as she applies to join an exclusive BDSM club, Shattered Embrace, and there is definitely a bit of a mysteriousness about her. I immediately wanted to know her and find out what drew her to the club scene, and what happened in her past to make her feel she had to ‘retire’ from the scene. Add in the fact that her best friend, who is a Dom, didn’t know she was a sub- and I was pretty much hooked. Then Zachery enters the scene- and yep, he delivers all the Alpha-sexiness, so I am all-in! Chemistry sizzles and sparks ignite- which results in a slowwww-burn that gives off some intense heat. This story is made even more intriguing by the fact that Ashton doesn’t realise until it’s too late, that the CEO of the company she has just been hired to consult for, is also the head of the BDSM club she has just applied to….awkward much. And he’s also her best friend’s brother- ummmm, doubly awkward. So if you love Dom/sub stories, a little mysteriousness, sizzle, and great characters, then you will definitely want to get you hands on a copy of this book to explore.
This is a steamy, opposites attract contemporary romance with a best friend’s brother element, tension, palpable chemistry, banter, a BDSM club, Dom/sub dynamics, Alpha type male, protective MC, a strong independent yet submissive FMC, friendship, slow burn romance, spicey encounters, humour, secrets, emotion, drama, and intriguing developments- which made for an engrossing read.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this book to be honest, and I certainly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did- but after reading this, I immediately added Ms. Quinn to my ‘must read’ author list – and I am excited to see what the rest of the series contains.
So, bring on Book #2!
Happy Reading…

Thank You, Alyndra Quinn!

Fashionably Fake (Kings of Screen Series) by Morgana Bevan – Review by Megan Conley

Fashionably Fake (Kings of Screen, #4)Fashionably Fake by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I adored Jackson and Ros throughout this book (even though there were times I wanted to throttle them both). I loved the simplicity (ehh…once you get through the whole thing you can reflect) of their multifaceted relationship and the slow burn of it all is most definitely worth while. This is the 4th installment of the Kings of the Screen series and can be read as a standalone. Other characters and their significant others do make appearances throughout the book (which I always thoroughly enjoy seeing what my other loves are up to) and there is some teasing as to who will be the focus in the next book. One thing that I really appreciate about Bevan’s writing is how relatable her characters are. I mean…I’m not an up-and-coming fashion designer in a fake relationship with a hunky Scottish heartthrob BY ANY MEANS but I totally related to Ros and her view (albeit skewed) of relationships and men. And the way Bevan did it just wasn’t superficial and fakey…it really hits home and is raw and emotional and you as the reader can totally put yourself in Ros’s shoes. I definitely can’t wait for the next Kings of Screen installment.
