How would you feel if you finally met someone to trust and to be your friend, who took up for you against all the bullies that picked on you for your clothes and lifestyle, only for them to disappear a couple of years later? This is what our main character, Mina, experiences when Wes, her best friend and protector, stops showing up to school. Years pass and a lot changes for both Mina and Wes. Mina finally feels like she has her life on track when, guess who shows up at her prestigious school?
Wesley and Mina both face a lot of ups and downs as they go through life and try to reconnect. I love the heartfelt connection between these two wonderfully written characters! They both grow tremendously as they experience both highs and lows, while always having each other’s backs. This is a wonderful YA tale that I’m so glad I picked up and I can’t wait to read more by these authors as they have an easy-flowing writing style that pulls me right into the story and the lives of the characters.

Reticent Hawke by Gwyn McNamee was a perfect addition to the Hawke family. I have loved all the characters in this series and especially love that there is now second generation stories. Being able to touch base with those from the first set of books is one of my favorite things. This family is so close and tight knit that to some, Jude and Angelina did a poor job of hiding their true feelings even if they themselves are ignoring them. As always with her books, the author drags you in with truly gut wrenching details that make you feel as if you’re part of the family. When they hurt, you hurt, when they are happy, you celebrate. I absolutely fell for Jude and his charm. And Angelina’s strength and perseverance and devotion to her work and her family is admirable. This is clearly a series I would read in order starting with generation 1 as ALL of the characters make appearances and it’s rather important if you want to keep up because there’s a lot of people and a lot of things that resurface. But overall another amazing read!

Mina is tired of all the bullies. She can’t help her looks or her wardrobe, not to mention that she’s fortunate to have had a meal today. Life is rough in this small town where she is called all sorts of names. She’s never really had a friend until 5th grade and that’s when she met the “new kid” Wes.
He came in and sat down next to her. She tried to warn him away but he wasn’t having it. He was more into her than anyone else and she couldn’t understand it, even after he told her that he lived in New Haven.
Both kids dealt with their share of tragedy but they dealt with it together. That is, until the day that Wes just up and left with not so much as a goodbye. Mina was devastated and thought life would end for her. In a way, her life as she knew it did end and nothing would ever be the same again.
This is an angsty teenage romance novel of lost first loves. There are times it was a little much for this mom raising teenagers but overall I really did enjoy this story. The challenges that Mina and Wes are pretty real life for many people, at least the first part of life. My favorite part of this book is the mention of my current hometown. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book that mentions it. The locations mentioned within are fictional but it was still pretty cool to see it mentioned.

Gwyn has done it again! Just like all the other books of her’s that I have read, this one captures you in it’s grip and you don’t even care. Until the book ends and you can’t wait for more! You don’t need to read the first generation to read this one, but let me tell you that once you get into these you will want to go back and read them! They are all so, so good! So, just trust me and read them all!! LOL. And make sure you read the prequels too! So much good stuff in them all! Reticent Hawke is about Angie and Jude’s story. This one was so gripping. You get to learn more about the allusive Jude who was kind of adopted into the family. He hates being apart of the family, but that’s because he loves one of them. He sits in his window, hidden away from everyone, watching. Jude had a very horrible start to life and because of it he has locked himself away. Building up walls to keep people away from him. Allie is the exception. She is his best friend and one of the only people to see him in person in two years. When Allie starts to act weird and disappears for days he and Angie team up to find out what’s going on. Even when she comes clean she’s hiding something and they both know it. Getting to the bottom of her secrets is going to be tricky. To top it off a pesky company is gunning for Angie’s coffee shop along with the other Hawke family businesses. Will they finally find out who is behind it? Boy oh boy! I don’t want to give anything away, but you have to read this one!! Curl up with a drink, some tissues, and get ready to get sucked in!

This book is a Prequel to Nolan (Isaac) and Jack’s story. I actually didn’t read this prequel first, but I wish I had. It just gives their story a little taste of what’s to come and man oh man is it good!! Isaac just finishing law school decides a night of celebrating is needed before he heads back to NOLA to help run the Hawke empire. With his whole life mapped out for him settling into the family business can wait a couple days. He just happens to have his sites on a red head that would fill those days before life and family demands him back. Jack has slipped out and gone to a dive bar no one would ever think to look for her at. She wants some much needed time away from her life and family. Playing pool and having a few drinks with Nolan is harmless. She’s looking for a fun distraction and so is he. No strings. Not giving each other their real names they set out to have a great one night stand with each other. Their one night stand turns into two and before they know it this have changed. This book is steamy! It will have you rushing to grab their story asap, so you can dive right in some more. More than one of Gwyn’s books has had me up late reading when I should have been sleeping! LOL 🙂

Very enjoyable story with romance, drama, suspense and twists and turns I did not see coming. The angst and chemistry between Angus and Veronica….off the charts…even when they both are not looking for any type of relationship. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Definitely a great read.

When investigating a server, something is off. Veronica senses this and finds a computer chip that holds some very valuable information. Angus Miller is a firefighter and is really focused to being the best…..Angus is also Cara’s brother whom happens to be best friends with Veronica. When Veronica’s life is on the line over a security breach and missing computer chip……Cara has Angus be with Veronica to protect her. With some very bad people hot on their tails, will Angus be able to save Veronica before it is to late?
The plot is fantastic and this story kept me at the edge of my seat. Great story.
What a sweet high school romance story! Sometimes we find the love of our life when we are young and then we lose them for a while. In this story we find Mina and Wes who reconnect after time has passed. Each has changed and gone through different things, but they never lost the spark within them for each other. My favorite part is that Wes can see the real Mina through her facade and brings her back. This is a great read for a young adult.

WOW I could not put this book down! This was the first installment of the code of honor books and I was immediately hooked! I am a sucker for a good military romance novel and this one took the cake! The way that this author wrote had me transported into this book. I was disassociating from work and wanted to keep reading when I was on my break! There are very few books that I can say I felt true anger and rage while reading, but learning about Jude’s story, i felt sorrow, pain, rage, anger, and then, I felt like him being brought into the Hawke family was giving him the comfort he needed. Like balm to a wound, but when that wound is as deep as Jude’s… No balm is enough… This story will destroy you. I cried. I yelled. I cheered. I was an emotional MESS. And it was 100% WORTH IT. I am adding a new favorite author to my list… Gwyn McNamee is an amazing writer. I have this bad habit of NOT sleeping when I’m reading her books. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to read stories that have heart and soul…. Sex, Love, Swear words… All the good things that make a story more REAL. She’s got you covered.

This was an enjoyable and sweet romance story that is perfect for that rainy afternoon. The characters have a great chemistry, despite a rocky start. They were perfect for each other and it was lovely to watch their relationship develop. This is still a pretty new author to me and I am enjoying becoming more familiar with her work. Each book is fun to read, well written and engaging. As a reader I found myself becoming invested in what was going on. This is a great book that is well worth the read.

This is the first book in the Crowned Hearts series but can be read as a stand-alone. This book focuses on (Prince) Fyn and Bridget.
I enjoyed the secret identity element as the secret came out and Bridget’s reaction. It’s a fun read with spice and humour, whilst also being able to play with your emotions.
The characters are incredible, well-written and entertaining. The writing flows nicely and is easy to follow. The chemistry and emotion are built nicely and well-placed making for an enjoyable experience you won’t want to put down.
I enjoy these authors separately but together they are a phenomenal team, and I cannot wait to get started on the next book in the series!

A Forever Kind of Thing is a YA novel by Carrie Thomas and Melinda Harris. Mina and Wes are two kids at a prestigious high school from two very different backgrounds. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in high school but reading this story brought it all back. The authors do a great job of taking you along for the ride of the ups and downs that these two experience. Despite going through a lot, these two have each other and it is a beautiful, well-written relationship that we have the pleasure of witnessing. I loved Mina and Wes together. I was especially surprised at how much I enjoyed the character of Wes. This is a very good read for YA fans.

I really enjoyed this installment of the Hawke family. The chemistry between Jude and Angelina was really good and felt it was more emotionally based. Even though this is a continuation of an ongoing series, it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to seeing more development in this family and reading other books by this author.

This is the second book in the Second Generation of Hawke series. I have loved every book in this series. These romances are more than a romance. They are stories of family, friendships, danger, past traumas and the effects they have on a person. In this story we are with Jude and Angelina. Jude was taken into the Hawke family at the age of 10 but because if his past he constantly pushed everyone away to protect himself including the one person he really wants close Angelina. Angelina is the oldest sister to Jude’s best friend Allie. She can sense something is troubling Jude but she has never been close enough to him to find out what. When Allie starts to go MIA, missing work, lying about where she is and who she is with it and generally just not being herself it leads Jude and Angelina to work together to figure what is going on with her. Untied in the need to help someone they care about the more time they spend together the more they realise their attraction to each other. Both Jude and Angelina have suffered in their lives, both have built high walls of protection around themselves but what happens when those walls start to come down. This is a story about 2 people who have been emotionally damaged but who are trying to rebuild their lives. There is also the danger of the enemy that is still trying to wrestle control and bring down the Hawke Family that puts all of them in danger but the main focus for me was how Jude started to blossom and grow the more he allowed Angelina in. I can’t wait to see what happens next. What is Allie playing at? Who is she with and why is it such a secret?

This contemporary romance is chortle but sweet. With a quirky MC and her furry travel companion on a road trip to honour her grandmother. The journey turns out to be more than Liz bargains for. An uplifting and entertaining story, told in dual POV which adds a better dimension, this story has highs and some emotional lows. Recommend.

Reticent Hawke is the second book in The Hawke Family Second Generation Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance/ Forbidden Romance older best friends sister . I have to say I’m a huge fan of not only this author but this series. Holy Cow this book shredded my heart and I was expecting to be taken on a emotional rollercoaster ride but wow. My heart ached for Jude and I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. I’ve been waiting for Jude and Angelina’s story and I must say its my favorite yet. Each book in this already amazing series just gets better and better. I’ve read every single Hawke Family book and can’t wait for the next. I don’t want to give anything away. This is a must read book I promise you won’t be disappointed in. I do suggest having kleenex near by you will definitely need them. I’m patiently waiting for the next book.

First up I have to say that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this fun series!! Set around the Rock Band Balefire each book is full of fantastic characters and interesting storylines. Some of them you will love and some you will love to hate!! lol well I know I sure did anyway. This book is set around Balefires lead singer Blu who meets his mums neighbour Ashleigh and is instantly attracted to her but for the first time in a very long time he has to actually work to make a connection with her instead of her just falling for him straight away because of who he is. I love these two characters so much and loved reading their story as they come together. I can’t wait to read more about the boys of Balefire. I love this authors style and fun storylines so I am sure there is a lot more fun coming our way with this amazing series. I say bring it on!!!!

The King family is a powerhouse, with a widowed father at the helm of a worldwide business and five sons that could fill in his shoes. While you do get an introduction to them all, our MCs are Theo and Matthias. Theo is best friends with our female MC, Ava, but it is purely platonic and sweet. As the oldest, Matthias is expected to step into his position while his brothers are left to find what it is that interests them. With his college career ended successfully, Matthias is given the signs he is expected to join the company soon, but ekes out what he anticipates to be one last day where he gets away with making an excuse not to go to the city with his father – however his brothers jump at the opportunity to get out of the house and disappear in the city and leave Matthias home with Eleanor, the caretaker of the family.
Meanwhile, Ava Sutton, the daughter of Mr. King’s driver, is given strict instructions by her father to stay home, as there is a major snowstorm predicted. Their home is the carriage house on the King estate. After her father leaves and the snow really does start to fall heavily, Ava hears a loud pop and the power goes out. Keeping an eye on the storm, Ava decides she had better walk up to the King home before it gets any heavier, just to find herself half frozen and sopping wet by the time she gets to the kitchen entry. Ava is swept away to her aunts by her father without a chance to say goodbye, and Theo forgets to pass along the message to his brother the way she tells him to. Without understanding what is leading the other to make the decisions they make or how they end up apart, five years pass before the King boys and Ava all end up back at the estate together. Matthias is as mean as ever, Theo is as fun loving and charismatic as ever, Ava is as sweet as ever, but they’ve all lost their childish features and came back together as adults. Theo convinces Ava to give him a chance, which beyond loving him all her life, is even easier after Matthias is meaner than ever after never even setting eyes on each other for 5 whole years. Some relationships are the same, some change for the good, and some change for the bad. Sweet story of true love, heartbreak, loss and a happy ending.
Characters and locations are fully fleshed out and beautifully described, emotions run on high throughout most of the story, and there is a lot of feelings to work through from all points of view. I really enjoyed this and would love to see where the rest of the brothers end up!

I am a sucker for YA Romance books. This was a good read! I enjoyed that it really is such a “possible” story. Kids in high school are mean, but eventually everyone grows up, goes their separate ways, but we do have people that never leave our minds and hearts. So many emotions felt throughout! Foster homes, high school, bullies, and the wrong side of the tracks.

Jack and Isaac are an amazing relationship to read about! Passion, fear, suspense, action, drama, intrigue, steam – this book has it all! After a graduation weekend, Isaac met “Jack” and they spent the most memorable weekend of both of their lives together. As the weekend meets its end, they go their separate ways, but neither will be forgotten by the other.
For Jack, it is especially memorable because it gave her the true love of her life – her daughter Viviana. While she does resemble Isaac, Jack never told him she was pregnant – not that she would have known how to contact him, as he didn’t give his name or information. However, while she never forgets him, she is fully capable of raising ViVi on her own.
Five years after their unforgettable weekend, Isaac is working hard as the protector of the family empire and takes his job very seriously. When an old family friend begs protection for his daughter and grandaughter, Isaac is introduced to Giacomino – aka “Jack” and Vivi. Once he sees his eyes set in Vivi’s face, his entire view on life changes. I love the world building, the emotions are intense and passionate, it was a wild ride and the second generation sounds like it will be as great a series as the first!

Wow, Jude has been through a lot in his short life. When some of his problems were discovered while he was a kid, his best friend Alessi’s family took him in. His experiences in his early life lead to a lot for him. Agoraphobia, a passion for Alessi’s sister that he holds close to his heart, and a fear for how people may look at him if they found out.
Despite his phobia, Jude will do anything he can to be supportive of Al or Angie to share his love and appreciation however he can. When Al starts telling lies, avoiding contact, showing up late to work and going MIA, he and Angie work together to get to the bottom of what’s going on – and with Jude and Angie being together regularly, their pull starts to do what they’ve both been trying to avoid for so long – make them crave one another more and more.
This isn’t a storyline you see often, with an older woman being the object of a younger mans desire, and it was a new POV for me that I enjoyed. There were a lot of things being dangled throughout the book that basically were inconclusive, or rushed to a conclusion. The rest of the book was good enough I’d read again even though I felt a few aspects had more potential than they were given and felt like an afterthought.
The Hawke family in both generations offer captivating stories, romance, danger, intensity, familial support, love, friendship, tradition and more. The opportunities that arise in each addition to the series stay interesting and easy to read, offering intrigue and desire to see what happens next.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites for sure. I enjoy this author’s writing style as well as her attention to details to make the story realistic. A well written story about undeniable attraction and he has one mission, to wear her down. You don’t want to miss what these characters do. I found myself hoping they would get their HEA for sure. I enjoyed how creative and engaging the characters are. They add so much to the story which made it easy for me to read. I found this book to be fast paced and hard to put down. A story that is engaging and finds out what happens if the music stops. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.

The title alone drew me to this book and when I saw who the author was I knew without a doubt I needed to read it.
As someone who grew up in the 80’s the little references took me back to a time when the responsibilities of being an adult didn’t weight so hard on me. Rainbow Brite, Cabbage Patch Kids (mine was named Heather Dawn), Strawberry Shortcake, Pac-Man and of course the awesome hair band are just a few things mentioned that made me smile.
I do love that she is named Blaine and even as young as she is she loved and appreciated everything from the 80’s and the connection she had to her Mom through the store.
From the beginning I didn’t want to like Eric because he is a developer who takes the places we love and live and either destroy it or make the cost of housing more than an average person can afford. But I was charmed by him when he met Blaine at the store.
I loved the book, characters and the happy memories that came back. Thanks for reminding of the good old days!

This was a great 5 star read. My emotions were all over the place during this read. This is a great enemies to lover romance. Ava is friends with all of the King boys with the exception of Matthias. For some reason he is mean to her and she can’t figure out his problem. When fate steps in they get a chance to drop their walls but there is a twist and Ava is sent away. We jump ahead a few years, Matthias returns home and of course he has quite some hurtful words for Ava. I felt the same emotions as Ava during his hurtful attacks. There is so much more to this great read. Will they finally get the truth and a HEA? The author does a great job with her writing and I can’t wait to read more from her. I think its mindboggling how some of the strongest people can be minding their own when they wind up in the middle of a crazy situation of other people’s making. I mean, for one, Veronica is the top in her field, and she ends up in a nightmarish situation. Even the strongest people need backup and support. I love how the author brought all of the elements together. I love the quirks and the witty humor. I swear, I laughed so hard a few times, it left me snorting. Absolutely spectacular!

Back to the 80s by S.E. Reichert and Kerrie Flanagan is all about Blaine Reynolds, the owner of, “Back to the 80s”, a novelty shop that her late mother left to her and Eric Morales, a developer who intends to destroy it to build a new brewery.
I loved the fact that the characters seemed real, flawed, and nuanced while keeping all the fun of a romance.
I might be biased because I’m an 80’s baby, but this was such a fun read that brought me back to my early childhood. Go grab some bright colored leggings, tease your hair, and buckle up for this fun nostalgic ride.

I enjoyed the story of Blu and Ashleigh. Blu showed that he had a softer side than the hard rocker that everyone thinks he is. Ashleigh finally mellowed from the uptight, thinking that he’s a pig-headed rocker, and saw him for his true side. I loved this story. It’s a quick read with lots of banter that will have you chuckling. I found Blu’s mom quite entertaining. She is lovely and funny. I think she needs her own story. The characters in this story made this so entertaining and humorous. The story is well-written and very well-done. Again, I love Colorado stories using our beautiful landmarks and trying to guess locations. The details in the writing are beautiful. This is a lovely romance for the rocker lockers and it’s a must.

As with every book I have ever read by this author, this one is absolutely fantastic. It took no effort at all for me to get into this book. I was pulled in right from the start and was hooked on the characters. This story was so emotional. It was complex and heart wrenching, with complicated characters. It is exciting to read and I became invested really quickly. This is an author that I never fail to enjoy. Her books are ones that I buy without reading the description because I know how amazing it will be. I loved the fact that this is a spin off as the original series was so good. And after reading this book I know this series is definitely going to be just as good. I would highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed Firewall. It was a short book, that I was able to read in one night. It kept be engaged and I hardly put it down. The plot wasn’t at all what I expected, based on the cover art. With the title and Angus’s profession, I was thinking California Fires, not IT and romance. I think the evolution with Angus and Veronica happened wayyyy too fast, but overall I really liked the book. I liked the connection Veronica had with Cara and Angus, and how it all tied together. The characters and their connection is good. If the author plans on another book in the series, the groundwork was laid for it. I want the backstory for Cara and Veronica’s Beach encounter that was discussed a couple times.
