Crime Lord’s Captive (Crime Lord Series Book 1) by Mia Knight. This is the story of Bank Teller Morgan aka Lyla Dalton who is on the run from her crazy ex boyfriend. Her boyfriend is the Ruthless Crime Lord Gavin Pyre in Las Vegas. What Gavin wants Gavin gets. She left him and his crime world because he was cheating on her and she wanted to be free from that life style. Gavin has promise Lyla that he will give up that world if she will come back to him so she goes. Lyla has things in her past she doesn’t want to relive and she really doesn’t want to be back in this situation. She knows Gavin probably won’t be able to keep his promise to stay out of the Crime World but she has to stay because he’s blackmailing her. Gavin is a jerk a lot of times and I wanted to kick him. This book is full of twists and turns and it will keep you reading until you are done. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I have to say I am kicking myself majorly for not finding the very talented Mia Knight sooner than just now. Crime Lord’s Captive is my first time reading anything of hers but I can tell you since I have finished the last pages I have added all of her other works available to my TBR list and purchased everything for this series! (MEGA bonus for this novel’s cliffhanger! It’ll take a tiny bit of that sting out of the pain 😉 ) Now, just a small heads up this does tackle some sensitive subjects of abuse and if that isn’t your thing or it is a easy trigger point maybe don’t read this, but I can tell you that Mia does a fantastic job of writing about the subject with class and couth. Everything had a place and a reason, never written strictly for that shock value and I loved that, So maybe that will help you in making your final decision about whether you could handle the subject matter. To me this was completely worth it!
This seems to cover a lot in one book, but not enough in the same time, hence why there is more and a cliffhanger warning lol. I love how we are completely given the entire picture here of the dynamic from an outside point of view. We see how Gavin is the ultimate Alpha male and stalker, obsessed with his love and determined to have her no matter the cost or danger (even to her) but we also see how it affects and plays on Lyla’s life and where she is. I love that in these type of psychological twisty novels. This is a master cat and mouse game between Gavin and Lyla, and I freaking loved every single deep dark and twisted moment of it. I can’t wait to get my claws into the next one and find out how that cliffy turns out! Thank you for this fantastic read Ms. Knight!

This book drew me in from the beginning and kept me captivated throughout. This story was action packed, suspenseful, steamy, dark and emotional. I loved every minute of reading this book. I couldn’t put this book down until I got to the end because I needed to know what was going to happen and because I became so invested in this story line and the characters. Lyla and Gavin are characters that had my emotions going up and down the whole time I was reading. This is a great read that you will not want to miss out on! I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next one!

I absolutely LOVE this book! Crime Lord’s Captive is the first book in the Crime Lords Series by Mia Knight. Morgan was living a simple life working in a bank as a teller and had the sweetest boyfriend ever. No one knew that she was running from something. No one knew that her name was changed either. Her real name is Lyla Dalton. Everyone except the person that she was running from. That was until one day when she came home from work and found someone waiting to take her back to her home in Las Vegas. Gavin Pyre is the new Crime Lord of Las Vegas and the one that Lyla was running from. It’s been 3 years since she’s been home. She doesn’t want to be there but in order to save her father she goes back. However, Gavin has other ideas. He wants her back and will do anything to get her back. That is until Gavin decides to give up the title to his #1. All hell breaks loose and Gavin goes on a rampage and things between Lyla and Gavin go haywire as well. This story ends, unfortunately in a cliffhanger. But, there are some steamy scenes too! I really enjoyed this book to the point where I couldn’t put it down! I was completely sucked in. Now I really cannot wait for the next book in the series. I would suggest this book if you are into mafia type books!

Crime Lord’s Captive (Crime Lord #1) by Mia Knight has me torn between loving it and hating it. It is a dark and twisted story that had me on edge the whole way through. It is a story about a crime lord who is dark and dangerous and obsessed with his girlfriend who has been missing for 3 years. This book is action packed and full of suspense and drama, hate and love, murder and abuse, pain and angst. Mia has embraced the dark side of the underworld that is violent and disturbing by nature and has shown us a world that we can only imagine. A world that is violent and uncompromising. A world that is kill or be killed.
Lyla loved him once, until she saw just what he was. What she saw, she could never unsee and it was enough for her to go into hiding. Lyla created a new life but she is constantly living in fear of being found and living a secret. Now her past has come calling and she has to face her worst nightmare, the man that terrifies her. Man this story was violent and bloody. I’m not sure if I remember much but that. I will say that the main character Lyla had my respect for half the book. She got away but didn’t lay low the right way. Gavin didn’t know when to stop and that was his down fall. He could have given it up but his guilt, anger and pain was too strong. I love them together though. You definitely show a better side of Gavin when he was with Lyla. I was so sad at the end and I cat believe how the author did us like that at the end. The crime Lord was too familiar with Lyla I have a guess on who he is. I recommend this story just because it gives you a taste of all sides of the coin. Reviewed by @gguerrero89

I also love the characters in this series. I can’t wait to see where the author takes her story. This story is not for those under 18. Due to graphic violence and explicit sex scenes. Crime Lord’s Captive is the first book in the Crime Lord Series by Mia Knight. OMG!! I love this series sooooo very much. I devoured this first book, completely riveted by the story- I got to then end and didn’t take a break, diving right into the next book/s because I HAD to know what happens. So, over the course of a whole day and a night, I read the entire series… and WOW!!! Colour me impressed!! Ms. Knight had me completely under her deliciously dark spell- taking me along on a ride I won’t soon forget! This is one of the better Mafia/Dark romances that I’ve read- and I have read quite a few! The story has intense, shocking, violent, bloody, and gruesome details that shook me up and broke me. But there was also an incredible emotional side to the story- that really sets this apart. It has a superb ‘anti-hero’ whom I adored, even with all his controlling, violent ways- and a wonderful, strong female lead- who had me completely invested in them and their story. This heartbreaking, gut-clenching, harrowing experience was brilliantly done and so incredibly addictive. I was devouring each book, thinking to myself that I shouldn’t like what I was reading, but I DID – and couldn’t put the book/s down. I had to know what would happen. In every book I was torn apart- waiting, watching, expectant- not knowing if I would ever be put back together again. I can’t tell you what happens, because it would ruin the surprise. But believe me, if you like mafia romance, with a dark edge to it- you will want to read this book/series!! Ms. Knight’s stories are definitely not for the faint of heart- they are not fluffy lolly pops and rainbow romances. They are intense, overwhelming, gritty, raw, brutal, erotic, emotionally devastating- with chemistry that sizzles right off the pages. Ms. Knight made me want bad things……And I liked it! But, be warned, her stories contain subject matter that may ‘trigger’ some readers. So, if you are looking for something to add an intense ‘flavour’ to your otherwise vanilla existence- then this book/series will definitely do the job!!

I am a complete sucker for Mafia/Mob books and this book is amazingly good. Mia Knight has written and weaved a fantastic story about Lyla and Gavin. Lyla and Gavin we’re together until Lyla witnesses something that she can’t live with so she runs. She successfully hides from Gavin for years and then her time away is up and she is forced to return by Gavin under the threat of harm to her family. Gavin desperately loves and wants Lyla. Lyla fights tooth and nail not to be there. The story that unfolds is so so good. I truly enjoyed this book and the story that unfolds. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

Crime Lord’s Captive is book one in the Crime Lord Series by Mia Knight. Having not read this author’s work, it was with intrigue and inquisitiveness that I commenced this story. I love nothing more than discovering new and talented authors. It brings great joy to a very stressful world.
From the first chapter, this title was deadly, violent and very descriptive. I loved it instantly. Attention grabbing dialogue, the fast pace continued throughout, leaving me wondering if I had read all there was correctly. It was certainly entertainment plus. Lyla tried to escape. Gavin wasn’t having any of that. To him, they were destined to be together. Lyla was struggling to accept the way he lived, and would do anything to leave that world behind.
Crime Lord’s Captive was an edgy read full of adrenaline fuelled moments that took my breath and astounded me endlessly. A story high in danger that does leave a reader hanging at the end. And leaves a reader with that delicious thirst for more. I cannot wait for more of this pair. 5 stars.

Oh. Em. Gee.
I’m going to start by saying this book is officially in my top 3 favorite books so far this year..and no doubt in my top 10 of all time. This whole story shattered me and the ending…There aren’t words.
Im sitting here blank staring at my screen trying to figure out how to put into words how much I loved this book. Everything..The writing style, the storyline, the pace, the shock factor, the twists and turns, the screwed up way I fell in Love/Hate with Gavin and still feel that way even after finishing, the main characters, the secondary characters..The only negative I can come up with is that I don’t have the 2nd book in my hands yet…Yet being the key word.
Why have I not ever heard of this series is all I keep asking myself, I should already be saying I’m on my 4th reread, because I already know without reading the rest that I will be rereading, and more than once.
This story had me experiencing all the feels, if it can be felt I promise I felt it and anyone that loves reading or even kind of likes to read needs to have this book and this series and this author in their collection
I’m just in awe and I’m sorry I didn’t go into any of the storyline, this needs to be experienced head on…Trust me!!

Crime Lord’s Captive by Mia Knight is the first book in her Crime Lord series. This is my first encounter with this writer and I am not sure how to describe it. This book is intense and insane, in a good way as it is as brutal as you can imagine when you think of organized crime and mob war and anti-hero and a heroine on the run and …. Man, what a twisted story the writer has spun and it does end with a cliff hanger though do not worry, the whole series is out (I am just late to the Vegas party) so you can just jump into the next book in the series and eventually get your closure and I will be along on the ride! So, Crime Lord’s Captive is the story of Lyla (the Captive) and Gavin Pyre (the Crime Lord) and man, isn’t that one messed up relationship! Gavin is intense, brutal, cold, rich and once you see beyond the surface, I do not think you’d dare to picture a relationship with him unless you are willing to give up who you are … and obviously Lyla was not up to it so she is on the run, living a ‘normal’ life that does not include designer clothes and jewels and … well, but in this first book her life is blown out of the water as Gavin finds her and blackmails her to return … and please do not forget that there is a mob war brewing in the side lines so be ready, the first book ends with a cliff hanger! I am looking forward to finding out what’s next and if there is any redemption for Gavin …
